* Around twelve (12) tennis courts * Two (2) full basketball courts * Restrooms (often closed.) Also portable toilets. * Roofed picnic pavilions * ⚽ ⚾ "Excessive" space devoted to rough baseball/softball diamonds, and fields usable for soccer (maybe 10 acres worth?) * A couple playgrounds * Riverside Aquatic Family Center, with water spray grounds. Open in summer. * Indoor Family Recreation Center. Includes indoor basketball courts . I believe this center also hosted food pantry distribution in 2023 (Wednesdays, 1pm to 3pm.) * Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre Note: I'm only considering the roughly ⅒th mile² area between 30th St and Burdsal Pkwy, to the east of the White River. The full Riverside Regional Park is gargatuan at > 1 mile sq., and includes golf courses and other areas.
Playground
A couple playground areas
Restrooms
Closed often, and atm. But portable toilets can be found scattered around, at least when it's not winter.
Dog-friendliness
Huge park, with lots of lawn etc. Still obligated to do pet cleanup in parks.
Picnic area
Roofed pavilions with benches and tables
Stop reading reviews and get yourself to this park now!!! I love this park. I've been cycling through it every year since 2008 or earlier. When I had kids we took them there on purpose, no matter the season, since birth to now 8 and 7. I used to work and go to Grad school downtown and if my spouse could meet up (with the kids) between end of work and night classes THIS was our go to spot. My daughter's Spring birthday parties were held at reservable (affordable) pavilions from her first through her 5th. It is even better now with an amphitheater that is managed by the same booker as The Vogue AND major trail improvements are approved and will be starting any time now. Did I mention they have the second most affordable summer camps in the city AND a nice water park (with slides) high ball playing areas and the different playgrounds ( maybe 4). Get thee to the Riverside Park.
Very pleasant. Lots of cultural history. Mrs.Yolanda and the other staff members are very polite, professional, and accommodating. Her nephew participates in short films. The recreational faculty has plenty of arts and crafts for children as well as adults. They have PlaySafe, bike building in which the kids get to take the bike home after, and information for how to obtain free groceries, and 211 pamphlets for the community regarding government assistance. The recreational center has free dance classes Monday and Wednesday from 1-2:30 p.m. I look forward to attending. I booked the auditorium with Mrs Yolanda for my first book Interview with JL King for May 15th at 4:30 p.m. The experience at the center was wonderful. I shall be completing the community survey I picked up while there. Thank you. ❤️

I haven't seen any drama since I've been going up there Alls been pretty friendly Two thumbs up for Riverside Park
My son had soccer there tonight, and other than it being packed with little to no parking, it was a great day! They had a park for my 4 yr old and his 16 yr old big sister to do while I watched the game! There's tons of space at this park. It's not tiny. I'd compare it to the size of Garfield park. There's lots of room to walk and explore. They also look like they'll have a nice place for swimming this summer. I'm not too familiar with that side of town but I'll definitely check out swimming for the kiddos when the time comes. Overall, it was a great day at the park. And not to mention, my kid won. Lol! Go Bears!! Lol!
The park itself is really nothing special except for the views and for photo taking. It is not very suitable for having a picnic as there is very little shade. My advice would be to get some nice photos of the river and of the man-made boat island and move along. Pro Tip: Sundown is very nice in the park; sunrise is not as great, based on the angles
Playground
There is a small exercise area on the man-made island as well
Restrooms
There are public restrooms available on the man made island across the bridge from the park
Tennis courts, 2 park area with colts workout space at one of them, water slides, baseball field, and walking areas. LOVE this park. If you plan to go on Sunday during summer be mindful that the neighborhood has a gathering every Sunday that brings tons of classic cars and motorcycles out To be seen and music playing like a block party! This happens on the side where baseball field is so the other park with colts workout space would stillbe vacant.
This is a large and pretty park, but visitors are disrespectful of the surrounding residential areas. People throw massive parties every weekend with bass music cranked up to concert-level volumes. They leave trash and destroy the bathroom facilities. It was so bad last summer that the police came to the park multiple times for crowd control. Pretty park in a historic part of town. Just don't come here on the weekend.
This park has it all-- playgrounds for the kids, beautiful old trees to read under, short trails, and an amphitheater. I haven't been inside the park center but understand they offer a variety of community services and activities. I've been there for bbqs, basketball, swinging, and watched a friend perform on stage at the amphitheater, and I've never had a bad experience there. It's clean, safe, and well maintained.
used the boat ramp here like I have in the past but the river has been completely reconstructed which made the float extremely difficult. the dam below 16th has been partially demolished making this section extremely shallow. there is also a stepped dam type area right south of the launch that was terrible to try and traverse. Defiantly not launching from this ramp again.
Call before we even came staff says pool reopen at 3 it’s 20 mins after 3 it’s 92 degrees outside and they still won’t let these children get in the pool so sad why say u open at tht time and make ppl just sit around n watch staff on a break then came so my 3 years nephew could swim and no place for him to enjoy himself do better Indianapolis or community’s need help
Use to be real nice years ago. It's not real bad now...jus they use to have a pool on the inside....and not sure the last time the out side pool was open. They trying to modernize it...guess it could be nice if they don't push the present community out. Unfortunately gentrification is happening every. Supposed to be good thing, it's not in most cases though.
I never knew this park was that big until this June 2023 for picnic It has swimming pool, skids, swings ,parking, long tennis court, football fields And many shelters
Playground
Clean and nice playing ground
Restrooms
Restrooms allocated with each shelters make it convenient
Picnic area
The picnic area with a nice view, clean and cool
One of the most disgusting porta-pottys I've seen in my life. It was leaking and flooded. The park was dirty and had trash everywhere. The pond wasn't much of a pond it was gross, tons of animal tracks and tons of baby frogs feel bad for the animals that drink from it as there as I pulled plastic bags and trash outta the pond.
Very large park. Very nice and clean until football practice and they leave trash. Park entrance and exit always blocked (extremely dangerous and serious safety issue) because people stop and talk. Then people start driving in the nice grass to get in and out park which making a mess of the very nice park.
After much needed improvements have been done in 2023, this park is now safe. Sunday is good to grill out and have a baseball/basketball game but park rangers will shut it down at 7pm

Beautiful little park, very clean. Has a covered eating/relaxing area. Boat ramp available and easily accessed. Usually not too busy with people, patrolled area by local police often, just to make sure things are good and everyone is staying safe and being respectful. Love this little park. ❤️
Great place to take a doggie for a walk. Please take a baggie to clean up poo, this place is well kept up.
Dog-friendliness
My beagle loves this park. Unfortunately we don't get much walking in, until she's sniffed, done her business....after that, we can actually get a brisk walk in:)
Only spent time in the main building, but it was really nice. The park looked great (summer) from what I was able to see. It was clean and trimmed, had all of the amenities a park should have. Playgrounds Pool Water slides Softball field Basketball courts Plenty of grass and trees
Awesome place to chill for a couple hours on Sunday evening between 4pm and 9pm ish. Urban hang out spot but all are welcome. Food, music, drink, fun ol'skool vehicles, motorcycle's, mobile car wash and good old fellowship. Y'all know how we do …
First they reserved us the wrong shelter. The shelter and picnic tables were dirty. There was no restroom close. You had to walk far for a toilet to relieve ourselves and the grass was not mowed smoking the way. The shelter was not handicap accessible to get to either .
No more fishing at Riverside Park! They closed for the ppl entering the neighborhood. The newcomers don't want bugs that are attracted to the water. So forget the residents who actually enjoyed it for its entirety. It's still a beautiful area. But damn fam...
This is a park that is clearly loved by local residents and has a lot of great amenities. Two greenways run nearby, giving walkers and cyclists plenty of options. It could definitely use a lot more park staff to maintain the grass and greenways better though.
I went to go fishing still waiting to catch a fish but it's a beautiful place.

I've lived across the street from this great park for 18yrs, they've done a fantastic job this year on improvements to an already great park. Keep up the good work. The new walking, running, bike trail is a added plus and much needed, everything looks great.
The park is okay. It's not horrible but could be a lot cleaner. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, out of paper on sundays (when I'm there) and were closed down for a while so people were using the bushes. The grass from what I see is usually pretty trim.
Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labor’s Lost play at the Taggart amphitheater. A wonderful facility. Our first time here, but not our last. My friend Carla drove.
Restrooms
Two unisex restrooms that were air conditioned, handicap accessible and very clean.
We had our group's picnic at this park and things went well. Make sure to reserve a shelter though. The weather was perfect and it was just a really good time.
Picnic area
Plenty of space but if you want a shelter make sure to reserve it.
I'm pleased to see improvements being done in the park to make it more family and pretty friendly. Had stop going to the park due to cars spinning in circles. Was afraid of someone losing control of their vehicle and injuring bystanders or kids.
Nice park with playground equipment. A meeting place for bikers on occasion. Pop-up shops. I have no young children but would keep a close eye on because park is very popular if I had them. Lots of space for kids to play. Park is clean.
I love my time with my family and friends get together. We enjoy the day An so did our children! Our children also take karate there, the teacher's are awesome. The staff is friendly and informative. Thank you for being in my community
It's being gentrified. Those of us who grew up over there are being pushed out covertly and overtly. Marion University is quietly taking over the area, to create a campus sprawl that is quaint like Butler's, yet as invasive as IUPUI's.
This obstacle course almost killed me and I think I found out I'm asthmatic kids and husband enjoyed themselves. My husband was acting like he was a coach! #coachkeith #5boys #1girl #coltsthankyou #getfitwithcolts #indyriverside …
The Park is clean and safe. My kids attend the summer camp and they love it, especially the pool! It's also the home of the Indianapolis Shakespeare Company. I enjoyed watching A Midsummer Night's Dream in the Park tonight.
We posted up in the parking lot. People were in their old school, classic or new vehicles playing music, drinking or talking. There is a nice, modern play area for the kids and areas for families to BBQ or party at.
Really friendly people and polite! Was a great public pool and fantastic price. Bath house/ bathroom were not that clean however and life jackets needed to be replaced from ware and tear. But overall it was great.
Seems like a nice park. Has great potential for many kinds of wildlife. The White River recently got a rock fall installed to replace the dam by 16th street. Very interesting to see 7 mini water falls at once n
it was a good vibe. the 1 side off of riverside street is where all the activities from car shows and various entertainment and the other side that you enter off of 29th street is peaceful and serene.
Great park. Nice playground, easy access to the river for fishing and a boat ramp for launching. Several covered picnic area shelters. Clean grounds and facilities. Basketball and tennis courts.
It was nasty and need to have been spray for the ticks and mosquito. The ticks were everywhere was scared for the kids. We were smart and brought our repellents. The weather was good
Renovations approved by the city are turning this into a place for families and tuening the criminal element away. Proud of some of the developments the area is finally getting.
The bathrooms needs remodeling. Just because it's a Park where predominantly Africans Americans visit we should have the same upgrades like all of the other Parks in the City.
I Visited Riverside Park... First Independent Walk Since My Accident In 2019.. It Was Sensational... One With Nature.. I Also Did A Photo Shoot.... Beautiful.... …
Excellent community center, an historic restored outdoor event venue, and I giant mulberry tree with delicious berries on the west side of the parking area. Top marks
Great place to get out to. Take the family or the dog for a stroll. Play some golf or go to work on your golf swing. This park has alot for everyone. Go see it
Great place for family functions. Plenty room and shelters.
Playground
Great for the children.
Picnic area
Huge area for whatever you want to do.
I was a vendor at a lovely event. Food trucks, music, bounce house, information tents, and more. If you weren't there then you missed out!!! It was a blast
This is still one of the best outdoor places for my family to visit. Although, the toddler area is weather warn it did not stop my toddler from exploring.
The Taggart Amphitheater is wonderful. Excellent sound, clean, vast in seating and B.THOMPSON and his band were fantastic. So proud of our Indiana native
Excellent venue, excellent Black Boy event with vendors, food trucks and live music. It was awesome watching Police officers interact with the community.
Convenient, by a lake was able to do a candle light and have foods with family and friends to celebrate my nephew's Celebration of Life RIH 8-15-2021
Great place to have gatherings. Big spacious areas and a great time. Nobody bothers you there as long as it minding ur own business. …
Went on a Monday and it's a great crowd of OG'S pitching horse shoes and networking with others! I will visit again on a Monday evening
They are so friendly and clean, and they are trying to help everyone. They welcomed me and my family to the neighborhood when I moved.
Besides all the drinking, reckless driving, and smoking of Marijuana. Oh, and the dirt bikes riding in the grass, not a bad park...
didn't spend a whole lot of time, but it looked like a place that has something for everyone and great access to the white river.
Nice park, clean plenty of port a pots around, so you don't have to go to far to find rest rooms. Nice water slider for the kids.
Playground area is in total disrepair. Make sure your kids have updated tetanus shots. Amphitheater looks in great shape though.
I really enjoy myself. There were food vendors' motorcycle cars and music people you named it was their every Friday - Sunday .
One of most historically iconic parks in Indiana. Huge park, beautiful trail and great place to gulf, cookout, recreation, etc.
The park had always been a big part of the community. The new Taggart Amphitheatre is next level vibes for outside concerts
Did a little fishing down by the boat ramp. Caught a big turtle and some blue Gill. We catch and release only.
It was great, everyone love our food., had a lot of customers, thank you all for coming out and supporting us!
Had a great time there just be careful riding off-road vehicles they'll try to take them if you let them
I went and saw a play of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the park and it was an amazing venue.
Nice sized park, park definitely needs some maintenance repairs that's been neglected though.
Great park! Love the new amphitheatre at the Taggert memorial. Wonder stage for Indy Shakes.
Great Pet Pride went on Saturday. Perfect weather. Only downside to this park is parking.
Really nice clean park with lots of space for multiple events to take place if needed.
All around family fun safe beautiful did I say safe family park great job west side
Nice place to walk the dog. If you have kids, nice place to play soccer
Kids loved playing here nice clean atmosphere for birthday party.
Love the summer concert series at Riverside. Nice venue.
I loved it no drama just straight fun and enjoyment !!!
Outstanding! Had a fantastic Family fun 4th of July!
Great park. Lots of activities for old and young
Nice clean pools ......I hate the bathroom area
It's a better place than it used to be.
Such a great public space in our city.
It's a good place for exercise
Definitely needs some work.
