  • "I love this beach, my favorite place! Beach 97 to 85 ! But parking is a big big issue? The city has "No parking" sign all along the beach front shore street? Why would the city do that! Doesn't make any sense and gonna discourage many to come to the beach!! Should have metered parking spots all along the beach shore front from 10 am to 7 pm! We pay high taxes in NYC, We should find a parking spot when we go to the beach! Nevertheless every street close to the beach there are "No parking" sign on one side too! Seems like their plan to stop people from coming to the beach! Instead they should install metered parking spots and remove all the "No parking" signs! People end up parking on top of the sidewalks and grass and block the fire hydrant! I dont blame them at all! Sometimes they get a ticket! They city plan is working great! The sand on the beach full of small pieces of like wood, seems like no one cares about cleaningthe sand before the summerseason, the water has shells and small stones, very sharp rocks could cut out you feet open! Dont what the city should do about that! The city council should do something about that issue ! Make the taxpayers happy and make money installing metered parking spots!"

Beach 116th street has nothing for its patrons. The rich people won't allow the township to make improvements. It's been this for the past 6 years. All the rich people who live from 117th street and above have managed to do is create vacant lots bringing Beach 116th to look like a slum. They have no regard for themselves nor the businesses around there. We're to show concern and patronize these local advocating the small business this community would continue to flourish. Instead because the locals don't support small businesses our neighborhood seems to be dying. Let's see improvements and support from our locals and we can see the rise of all the good things Beach 116 has to offer. In turn the businesses will flourish thru out the winter months making it to the next summer.

Today's Golden Army Fitness beach run was another amazing accomplishment that proved that in any weather conditions we can always be Victorious. I encourage us all to come out to this wonderful spot to enjoy a nice jog or couples/ singles walk along the boardwalk This is always a great spot to take a surf on the waves when permitted or for some bathing. Located just about 3 blocks away from the shuttle train it's very a ideal mini getaway⛱️ If you guys would like to join us on our next adventure please reach out to us On IG @goldenarmyfitness_j

This is one of thee cleanest beaches in New York City. Though the tides and currents are POWERFUL! The lifeguards respond fast to incidents and the porter in the woman's bathroom does an excellent job at maintaining and cleaning the bathrooms. Everytime I come to this Beach I feel like I'm in another state or out of town. Since Hurricane Sandy the city has fixed the boardwalk up Lovely! Because it's deep in the channel, it gets windy on average, so bring a jacket or sweater if you're staying later in the evening. Even if you're not staying late bring a jacket.

Lived in Brooklyn most of my life so far, but didn't know this beach existed! Lots of surfers come here. There is a free parking lot, but it's small so you have to find street parking if you don't come early. I came around 11am and the lot was filled. I would definitely come to this beach again. As clean as Jones beach, but it's much smaller than Jones beach, so it can get crowded. There is food on the broadwalk - pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, arepas, poke, and juices/smoothies that are not too pricey.

Had a great experience, be aware that the water is freezing even in July. Other than that had a great day, the beach was full, but it was expected to be since we are in summer — not a lot of dinner options. Be careful on what area you choose to sit in; there is a part of the beach designated just for surfers. If you don't have a surfer table, you won't be allowed in the water. Guards and police won't let you in the water after 6, so I would recommend going early so you can enjoy it fully.

Its good to get out of the house and get some fresh air on the board walk. The board walk in the 70s and 80s in Rockaway Park is clean and secure. The building of beach front homes have beautified the area and makes the strip during the evening looks spectacular. Prior to covid there were many events and activities on the board walk. Its really good that the children are able to go for a walk ‍♂️ instead of staying in the house.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Rockaway Beach! My home away from home. Been coming here over 50+yrs. I think the water is the cleanest it been in a long time, so much so that if you're there at the right time you might see dolphins or maybe a pilot whale. Possible even a shark but hey it's THEIR home. We're just visitors. Make sure you bring a bag for your garbage though. Please don't make a mess and leave your garbage behind. Respect the Beach ⛱️

It's the best our new boardwalk has good food, the beach has great waves for surfing .Or you can paddle surf. Or just take in the sun Ray's and relax. What your getting to hot go for a dip Rockaway beach has some of the cleanest beaches. After a great day at the beach, take a nice bicycle ride on our new boardwalk. Rockaway beach has something for everyone. Hey last one in can still cool off.

Did a Beach Party with my sisterhood Had a wonderful time. Plenty of space to come together in God's Livingroom where we saw a Beautiful sunset and enjoyed splashing and eating good food and drink. Dancing and having fun
Restrooms
Nearby and maintained pretty regularly considering it's a public beach and no changing stations
Picnic area
Plenty of areas to picnic and spread out

Great place to have a nice and relaxing time. Now that the new boardwalk is done, you can walk on it or ride your bike without trouble. The beach is now open and it is clean. In certain places on the boardwalk you will find concessions stores, restrooms and areas to relax by having something to eat or drink. I usually come here during lunch time because the view to the ocean is amazing.

Rockaway Beach is a neighborhood on the Rockaway Peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens. It is named for the Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk, which is the largest urban beach in the United States, stretching from Beach 3rd to Beach 153rd Streets on the Atlantic Ocean. It’s nice and quieter then other beach. It’s better not to take your own car at weekends but weekdays are fine.

  • N N

This part of the beach has a great mix of cultures , surfing and families. The bottles and broken glass really sucks. The beach extends to Riis Beach which "seems to get special treatment cleaning", that part of the beach is beautiful. Rockaway Beach is much cleaner than years ago, located 2 blocks from the A train. Beach goers need to do a better job cleaning up after themselves.

July 2018. This is what a romantic Saturday evening walk along Rockaway Beach looks like--covered in garbage. Plastics in our oceans is a catastrophic problem and yet here we are armed with that knowledge and the capacity to do something about it in one of the biggest cities in the world and this is what we show the world? So ashamed of New York City and Queens right now.

  • Daniel Song

It’s really nice and you could even go surfing, provided there aren’t very many people. But there are just too many people, especially during peak summer days. The entire beachfront becomes a free for all, so you need to get there early if you want parking spot AND a nice spot on the beach. Atlantic seawater is a little cold, but not enough to ruin beach experience.

  • Laureen Mckenzie

Great beach to relax at on the weekdays and party on the weekends. There's a bbq area, but you have to get there super early to secure a pit. There's also a play area for children and a handball court. Be wary of the tides and sand bars. There's a bazaar and food court on the far right of the boardwalk. Bring what you need to have fun. No pets are allowed, though.

  • Tam El k

Its nice beach but the park dep doesn't allow parking on the beach shore front ¡!!!!!!! Just wired!!!! Therefore hard to find parking spot because the residents park all day on the designated parking lot for the beach! They should have it metered and add metered to the front shore street and allow visitors to park their cars close to the broadwalk! Only in NYC !

  • Bryan

It's a decent beach for a day trip from the city and not difficult to reach since the ferry and train are both viable options for anyone who can't bum a ride in a friend's car. My favorite thing about the park though is, of course, the dinky, albeit fun skatepark located next to the beach.

  • Cristian Bonilla

I loved this place, was my first time visiting it and it really get pass over my expectations. The beach area its really great and the people enjoyed. I think it could have more places to eat or drink because they are not a lot of places or restaurant, but the experiences was sensasional.

  • sibela feta

If I had more free time I would definitely spend there more time. I love walking along the boardwalk, and breathing that ocean's fresh air. Me and my husband often go for biking there. We both enoy time spent there very much. So far, it is one of our most favorite places to hangout.

  • Dana Collazo

I'm a beach person and Rockaway Beach is beautiful, clean and safe. Lifeguard are always attentive, especially because the waves are strong at this beach. Also by the board walk they give out face mask for your comfort. It is a wonderful place to spend a summer day!! Enjoy . …

  • Antonio Rosas

I'm seeing alot of changes in a past few months. The Parks & Recreation has started 3 new projects to fix Rockaway. A new stage is being worked on Beach 95th Street and two new parks are in construction on Shore Front Pkwy. I so glad we are finally getting something new.

  • Torn_ Mentality

Great place to be! Beautiful views, amazing beaches, skatepark, board walk, good food, drinks, live music, what better place to spend the entire day. From sun up to sun down into the night you can find dozens of things to entertain your entire family. I love it.

  • Gladys Rodríguez Pitre

I love Rockaway! After Huricane Sandy, the area has been renovated and renewed. Great older shops and nice new hipster like establishments. Unfortunately, the rent rates have risen. But, that is to be expected in the current political and economic enviornments.

  • まみみ様

I wish I went before hurricane sandy to see the original beach, but I think I found my favorite beach in NYC! Lots of people sure but so much space is available, plus there's so many places to eat at & around the beach. Lifeguards on duty are pretty cool too.

  • Drew Rowley 973

One of the best boardwalks I’ve been too it was not very busy the day I went it was still nice new and clean and relaxing my only complaint is there are no restaurants on the boardwalk but the boardwalk was still really nice and great for walking or biking

  • Carolyn Chappelle

I love this place. It's so relaxing and clean. It is a non smoking beach, so please respect that when you go. They do so much to keep it clean for us. The Ripper is the best place to eat fresh and delicious fast food. Great drinks and amazing icecream.

  • Gillian Woodruff

This beach is huge and beautiful and much more peaceful than Coney island Beach. The bathrooms are excellent and there are spray showers for after you get out of the water. Watching the surfing is fun too. There are some places available to buy food.

  • Sunshine 317

Went to Beach 102 had the Best Beach experience. Parked right across the Street. Walked across a limited expanse of Sand, found a Spot and Voilá... just like that. Clean, Not Too Crowded and Didn't have to walk a mile to the water. Highly recommend.

  • Ashleigh Wolf

Beautiful beach but be prepared for crowds and little to no parking. You have to arrive extra early if you want a spot. Water was nice and warm and a great place to escape the city heat. It was 10 degrees cooler on the beach than the city …

  • Anthony Delisi

Rockaway has come a long way. Nice clean and wide beach with room to spread out. New are the updated bathrooms, board walk has been widened and electric bikes for rent if you like. Parking impossible!! take the water taxi or the train.

  • gabrielle wilson

Ive always lived this boardwalk after the huricane renovations. The beach is clean, there are a few places to get a bite and beer. Its NOT Coney Island, so there isnt as much crowd or things to do, but it is pet friendly and clean.

  • mr Boston

Great summer spot long beach concession bathroom near bus train ,mile from ferry ,life guards usually always patrolling beaches. We feal its best beach surfers may agree they're always here year round .⛱️ …

  • Aletha Chery

The beach and water is always clean. It tends to get crowded on the weekends. In the time of Covid, beachgoers practiced 6 feet of separation, and almost everyone had masks in more crowded areas. Topless sunbathing is permitted.

  • Frances

Bathrooms are actually decent, thoughtful food courts every few blocks, beaches are well covered by life guards and fairly clean. Overall a good experience but the airplane noise from nearby JFK does not go unnoticed.

  • Anthony Acosta

Super clean beach. Definitely recommend it. Just bring food with you bc shops can be pricey of course. Waves and current are a little strong so be careful if you cannot swim or you have young ones with you.

  • Phillip Kleiman

5 stars for an affordable local nyc getaway! Beaches are clean. NYC parks and rec staff are friendly. Easily accessible via car, train or ferry. Perfect for a last minute day trip during a summer sizzle.

  • Abraham Kabore

Awesome. This place was fun I enjoyed myself and the workers were very sweet and helpful there are plenty of bars and restaurants around to visit. On a good day you can enjoy watching the surfers

  • Matt Branca

Loved the beach. Good food - Peruvian, Columbian, American - all right on the beach at the concession stand. Best Peruvian food we found in Queens. Terrible parking was the only drawback.

  • Regie Belen

Great beach, only beach in NYC that allows surfing. The Rockaways: sometimes is tough to find street parking if you drive there, easily accessible via mass transit: bus, subway, ferry.

  • Jorge Santos

I really enjoy the get way to the beach, to me it felt Like a mini vacation, a relieve time from my job low paying place, and stress. And finally a good bye to the month of Ausgust.

  • Dag C

Easy to get there. Very clean beach, including the public restrooms. There are life guards on duty the whole day, from 10am to 6:00pm. Great area to make great memories!

  • Brendan Ferguson

Beautiful place. Peaceful, clean, much fewer people than Coney Island and much quieter. They have surfing! And now with the NYC ferry it's easy to get to from Manhattan

  • Cristian Espinoza

They did a really great job renovating the pier in the high Beach 90s since hurricane Sandy. Highly impressed! Had a great time here with some friends the other week.

  • Iurii Novak

Perfect area for bring a kids and play here, two - three fast food close to the beach. Many of Parkguards persons around the beach, clearly sand and Good Ocean there.

  • Avanti Sandhir

Pretty nice but not peaceful since you have certain folks blasting music and also walking in a bike lane. Wish it was a bit more orderly or had some quiet zones.

  • christopher king

Come enjoy some of NYC'S low cost, beautiful sceneries. But PLEASE clean up after yourself. Too many people come and distroy out beaches. Thanks in advanced..

  • Talking Straight with Nate

The water was kind of Rocky, but it was nice and warm. Slightly overcrowded but the life guards were very observant and looked out for everybody safety.

  • patricia vargas

The sand and the beach are very clean. The ambient is cool, lay back and there is no need to overdo it hiding your drinks. Went twice in a week already.

  • shubham kumar

Very nice beach, lifeguards are available and vigilant, men and women bathrooms available near 84 st, cool breeze even in summer, surfing area available

  • Gerrica Mobley

I loved it! I actually got inside the water. It was so nice and relaxing. The only down side was the sand flies ate me alive. Had to cut my time short.

  • pa pan

Picturesque. New amenities post Sandy. Clean....until the crowds arrive. Nice for exercising. Stay out of the bike path and stay in your lane. Thanks.

  • Paul King

The beach is always great to go to in the summertime. They did all the repairs on the boardwalk. There are fun things to do enjoy yourself if you go

  • Shell “ShellyL” Jacks

The beach improvements have made rockaway beach great again. There are ramps in the sand to make wheel travel easy from the boardwalk to the water.

  • Mikhail Guralnik

Great park. It was renovated after hurricane Sandy. Beautiful long boardwalk with several bars and the beach. Great for biking or walking the dog.

  • J Peso

Great beach!, clean, good young crowd, dogs allowed. Can get crowed so arrive early. Parking is is a bit of a problem if u don't get there early.

  • Harry Frazier

They had a carnival tonight so me and my daughter went there to have sum fun. It's on b84 st by the beach. I was told tonight is their last day.

  • Louis DeCarolis

The beaches out here in the Rockaways are absolutely beautiful and clean, so come to our beaches and enjoy your beach day.
