Whenever I am in another city, I like to visit their bike shops. This bike store opens early, is centrally located and has nice and friendly staff. It's very clean and well presented. They are mainly MTB focused, not much road stuff on offer. I saw Specialized, Bombtrack and Surly bikes, and I even saw a couple of DT Swiss wheels on display (disc brake wheels with 240 hubs for $1250). Not that much clothing on the shelves, and no long sleeve summer road jerseys (strange when Tassie is in the Ozone hole and your arms would burn in not much time). A note for locals - bikes are available for demo - free for 4hrs, nominal charge for a bit longer. I asked about trying a bike for a couple of hours, mentioned I had a bike fit measurements (they were only concerned about the saddle height - seems like saddle fore/aft was DIY, and no hope of a stem flip). They checked with the boss and I was told that being from interstate, I'd have to rent. Day rental is $100 and there was no discount and no negotiation if you only wanted it 2 hrs. As stated before, the staff were nice, but it seems the boss only wants to gouge your wallet. That was $200 for 2 bikes for a couple of hours... I'd suggest that if you were a local, you definitely want to do yourself a favour and check out McBain cycles (Giant), and Ken Self Cycles (Trek, Bianchi) and see what they are like. If you're not local and want to rent a bike, go check out Hobart Bike Rental (cnr Brooke St and Morrison St) - it's a few blocks down the hill close to the waterfront. They are half the price and the guy there was heaps nice and friendly. Like I said, this shop has really nice and friendly staff, it's clean and tidy, but just be wary of the potential damage to your wallet. YMMV.

5 star all the way...Amazing Service. I recently (04/04/20) took my 4 year old in to this store to buy him a new bike for his birthday. The guys working were just awesome. They made him feel very special and helped him to choose a bike a helmet. He really wanted a red bike and helmet, but none were available in store. So the guys took the time to show him the colours available on the computer and he picked the bike and helmet he wanted. His birthday was on the Thursday 9th/04 and they guaranteed that the bike would be ready in time. Sure enough I got a call on the 09/04 and we went up and picked everything up. He was so stoked and when we picked it up they made him feel very important. I even dropped in today to get a new helmet for myself and they remembered me and asked how my sons bike was going. Now that is real customer service. You don’t see that very often anymore. I highly recommend this store to anyone wanting a great experience. Keep up the great work guys.

I emailed inquiring about the best wheelset for my endurance road bike. I was looking for an alloy pair. But lo and behold, the fantastic staff at Rolls Cycles recommended a far better alternative within my price range. They recommended Roval Rapide c38, and now I’m cruising in the wind! What I liked is that they will do everything to know what you’re after and will give you the cheapest (but the best) option. They also answered my questions re warranty and all. Not to mention they got the job done quickly. I brought my bike on a Thursday, and they said I could get my bike the next day. They know their craft, no doubt. What makes an LBS a great LBS? Great staff, nevertheless.

Super friendly people! Really quality bikes and great prices. They spent a good amount of time getting the setup perfect. Hiring an e-bike on a visit to Hobes, the guys also helped me pick out some routes on trailforks and I ended up riding 80k in 2 days.. a bloody excellent way to make the most of your trip! and your body! Do yourself a favour and try out an e-bike here, they push you further, higher and into more techy terrain.. I jumped back on my monster 29+ trail bike and it feels like my skills and strength have elevated 20% after even just 2 days on the Crank-e levo bikes. I'm sold. Went in hoping for some help with a broken seat post clamp and instead got treated to a feat of masterful engineering/bike-smithing from Greg and Dylan! After waiting ten minutes for Greg to try find the right part for the quick release to fit my odd integrated seat post clamp and starting to think 'he's tried hard, but he should probably give up, I'm just wasting his time'... He returned having made a new bit from scratch to fit! Works perfect. And Dylan also spotted the seat post was 0.2mm too thin and was able to find a spare to swap out easily. Fanatic work guys

Hired the Specialized Levo Turbo e-bike from Cranke and had a blast. The guys at Cranke were great to deal with and performed a full bike setup so I was good to go. We covered a very wide circuit from the shop in Harrington street with a lot of rough uphill terrain which the bike handled beautifully. Its rugged design meant that any punishment on the downhill sections of the North/South trail were well handled. If you're looking for something different to do or maybe a gift voucher idea for a loved one who has everything then this is the life experience for you!

Brilliant service, friendly and knowledgable staff who went above and beyond to make our planned Mount Wellington bike riding experience run smoothly. The team even stayed open late to allow us to return our bikes after our expedition, which was greatly appreciated. The staff even swapped our equipment over and tailored our seat heights perfectly before we set off, so we felt prepared and safe. Thank you again for such a great experience. Awesome service; very knowledgeable and super friendly. They had my bike ready in well under an hour and went above and beyond what I'd asked for, and only charged me for the safety check that I'd booked in for, but they did alot more than just the safety checks.. and all documented on file for future reference.. professional quality service. While on a Tassie road trip with the bikes we blew a tyre on New Years Eve up in Freycinet National Park. As we were moving through Hobart that afternoon we phoned around to see if anybody could help us get back on the bikes in the South West over the new years weekend. These people were fantastic, friendly, welcoming, and more than willing to help out at very short notice. Got us back riding again with minimal delay or interruption to our plans. Thanks heaps guys. I could not rate the crew at Bike Ride any more highly. Myself and a couple of mates were in Hobart yesterday and thought we would hire some road bikes and tackle wanted to tackle Mt Wellington. The boys at Ride Bike/Cranke could not have been more helpful! They were so knowledgable and gave some great tips and advice. Dealing predominantly in the Specialized brand, this cosy shop has a lot of charm. Always presented in a fastidious manner with the latest and greatest from specialized. Specialized bikes offer a technical level of superiority that comes at a premium price. The range of accessories is great, and their brands of accessories are always high quality. With a knowledgeable team, you can be sure you are getting a product you can enjoy.

30th May - Walked in with my son and spent 15 mins looking at bikes while the staff sat behind the counter chatting and didn't even make eye contact. We can't even say I had bad service as we were never served. 1st June - Went back in today to be immediately greated by a young salesman who couldn't do enough to assist and discus the bikes. Peter and the team at Roll Cycles Hobart are a great team to deal with. They offer good advice are very helpful. Nothing is a problem. I took my bike in to get the bearings replaced during peak Christmas period and was greeted with open arms. The mechanics assisted me and posed the different options in fixing the bearings. They sorted the bike out in little to no time. Same day pickup. Would highly recommend for any bike rider in Hobart. Aesthetically nice shop as well.

We rented mountain bikes from Roll for 1 day and were very impressed. $100 for the day for each of us for a really nice Specialised dual suspension trail bike and we had a wonderful day riding around the base of Mt Wellington. The shop is also really clean and has a great selection of bikes and kit. I wish this was my local bike shop!

Rolls Cycle is a wonderful, friendly and extremely helpful bike shop. They always make time for you and will provide excellent customer service. The Hobart Sightseeing eBike Guided tour gives you three hours of discovering not only the sights of Hobart, including the Tasman Bridge, The Domain and Battery Point but some sweet mountain bike riding if you wish. Peter was a fantastic guide and took me to some amazing trails. This three hour trip is good value for money.

I had a decent crash recently and roll cycles trued my wheel and sorted out a start up issue I had with my turbo levo. I wouldn’t really trust anyone else with my bike in Hobart. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. They have the latest specialized gear as soon as it is released, like the new gambit helmet.

Top notch bike shop! Have gone in for mountain bike service, gear and e-bike rentals when friends were in town. The guys are welcoming and highly knowledgable of the industry and surrounding trails. They were honest about prioritising what service needed to be done and made my bike feeling brand new! Highly recommend.

My wife and I made a 10-day tour from Hobart to Coles Bay on e-bikes hired at Cranke. We we're fully equipped by Cranke (Helmets, airpump, repair kit, panniers, locks) and the bikes did the job wonderfully. Cranke made sure to stay in touch during our rode and transported us and bikes back to Hobart. Great service!

Great quality bike’s available for the keen mountain biking experience on the local trails, with duel suspension both regular and ebikes available. Bikes are in good condition and pre-adjusted for you on pick up. We rode around on a sightseeing tour and had a great day. Staff are very helpful and informative.

Very friendly staff and they take the time to answer questions and provide intel on the area. A little idea would be to have printouts of loop suggestions based on rider level as it's a bit of a challenge to plan out a route without using buses to take you to the top, i.e. looking to do an out and back.

I cannot recommend these guys more. I can get parts cheaper online, but I know that paying extra to have the experience and generosity that Roll cycles staff offer can't be measured. You guys have saved me multiple times now with quick solutions and absurd levels of customer service. Lifetime customer.

Roll were so helpful! They didn't have a large eBike option on their website but after contacting them they manage to put together a large eBike size for me and was even kind enough to let me pick up the bike an extra hour earlier! Excellent experience, will hire a bike again from you guys cheers.

Enquired on Monday afternoon chasing a Sirrus 2.0 XL. Nick got back to me same day letting me know they had one in their Launceston store, and by Wednesday it was down in Hobart, built and setup ready to go. Stoked with the friendly and knowledgable service of Nick and the team, highly recommend!

Easy to book. Only criticism is that of the two e mtb, one had very low (15psi) tyre pressure despite being set up prior. Luckily I checked each over before leaving. Also no option to buy bottled water for the cage on the bikes. Shifting quality deteriorated during the ride but minor.

The folks at Roll Cycle were fantastic. My service ended up being much trickier than expected and a stuck bolt on my rack broke a few of their tools. They Roll team didn't charge me any extra and even came up with an innovative solution to my bike rack problem. A great experience!

Great backup of Specialised eBikes. Helpful staff who have to cater for a wide ranges of customers. Range of bikes is not always perfect for every customer but it is always worth going back at a later stage, even if you choose another LBS and their brands.

The e-Bikes are in good condition, funtional and are well equipped, decent brakes (guide r), droppers, forks etc. Everything was ready to go when we got there. The staff are also very helpful and pointed us to few local trails to shred.

Good service, nice staff but there seems to be absolutely no room to negotiate even after buying the 2nd high priced bike. I don't know whether that's normal with australian bikeshops - I'm just not used to it living here in Europe.

Booked my sons MTB in for a comprehensive service, however, after I dropped it off, the staff were very honest and advised that it wasn't yet necessary, did some adjustments and classed it as a free first service! Highly recommend!
