Recently had a horrible experience at this location. First I would like to say that I Was born and raised in San Jose and have been going to the rose garden branch for years (before the remodeling). The new employees and management were rude to me. I went in to work on the computers and look for a few books. When I asked a lady at the front desk for help, she told me to go to the liquor store to get change for the printer/copy machine. I was appalled!I know the area very well and knew that they are no liquor stores in close proximity of the library. She then proceeded to ask for ID from people who wanted to check out books....which was bizarre to me since ID cards are usually needed for applying for library cards. The manager showed up and watched me carefully. She struck me as rude, pompous and unapproachable. I was definitely treated differently because of how I look. I will never go back there again. I have been to this library since I was a kid (early 2000’s) and my taxes go to this library! I can honestly say the service has gone downhill. They DO NOT RESPECT all people here. The MLK Jr. library in downtown is a little better with more variety and space.
Great little library. I come here to study only, but in between my breaks I love walking around and checking out books. The reason why I go to this library specifically over any other one is because this location is a gem. Not a lot of people go to this place and their "quiet/study space" is free without reservations. You can reserve a different room for more privacy. Overall a great place!
Review for Sunday first floor book sale only...the new $7 admission fee / forced bag- buy at entry that is "refundable if you do not make a purchase" is not classy at all and in fact is a deterrence to selling those books. I have been going to these kinds of library book sales for decades, usually pick up a couple items, but never encountered anything like this. Not classy at all.
Except for the homeless who camps out in the very few chairs they have all day. And Also finding them in bathrooms cleaning themselves, sometimes a full on sponge bath. I sympathize with their plight, but little worrisome when you are with your toddler. Also avoid during school out mid afternoon.
I mostly use the library for study purposes so I bring my own laptop/materials and do my own thing. I really enjoy their study areas, there are many and the tables are large. The lighting is great, lots of natural lighting, and it it relatively quiet. I enjoy spending doing my work here.
Good selection of books for kids, dvds, especially if you use online search and hold. Librarians are “ shockers” sometimes- I asked if library has Animal Farm book, lady gave me a blank stare and asked to spell, wondering if it a name or a title or…
Just what I want when I visit a library. Free parking (in this case covered on first floor—the best) and a quiet place to work. Got an individual desk in the study area. Beautiful views, as library is on second floor above parking. Perfect.
It’s rediculus how toddlers are told to keep thier voices (by librarian Micheal) down when they don’t understand, never bringing my children here again no wonder I didn’t see and children in the children area.
Have memories of this library from before I could even read. They completely remodeled, which was nice, but I miss the old place. Amazing place for kids to learn and adults to relax. Five stars!!
Small and friendly library. Parking you have to go around to Dana Avenue and park under the library, kinda cool. Definitely will be coming back because it's in a nice convenient area for me.
I just moved to this area and found out this small but sweet library nearby. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. I also like the cozy quiet study area as well.
This garden is very nice all the flowers not blooming yet they are well-maintained the spaces are big enough to feel relaxed they have WC.
Love it, conveniently located next to rose garden. Clean and lots of books to choose from. Librarians are super friendly and helpful.
Super easy to enroll for a card, find the book I wanted, check out. Like 5 minutes total for all of that. Keep supporting libraries!!
One of my favorite library! Also there's cozy play ground behind. Kids can sand play as well. lots of shades! love it!

Pretty cool library, that is where I get all my music not available on spotify and all of the DC animated movies.
Very organized, very helpful staff, found the books I was looking for very easily. Internet is not always stable.
Been visiting this library for 40 years. Always feels like home. Thanks for the great selection and service.
Very nice and calm space with basic utilities that help you with school work or basic tasks.
