Okay, okay, okay this place is super popular and well rated by tons of people, but I found it to be good, not terribly traditional, and the service lacking. I visited with my wife and our friends on a couples date, we ordered the chili wontons, and some dumplings for starters. The wontons rocked, the dumplings kind of tagged along in an unoffensive, but uninspired way. I ordered the Dan Dan Mian noodles, and salt and pepper fish. The noodles were decent, but a bit mild on the flavor, almost to the point of being overpowered by the cucumber, which should not be the case. The fish was nicely cooked and the peppers and onions went charmingly with it, but it just wasn't amazing. The dragon and Phoenix my friend had was pretty legit, no complaints there, and a decent portion to boot. The duck and leeks my wife had was another decently large portion, the duck was not overly gamey, which is always a win. It was a pretty good dish. Lastly my other friend had the general kao shrimp, which had decent flavor, and were prepared reasonably well. Why the less than stellar star rating? Well, the place is crowded, loud, hot, and a bit expensive. The food was just not good enough to shine through those coupled with the absolutely terrible service, I have never seen a waitress put her hand in a customer's face and say "later" before...it was sort of funny because I do enjoy picking with my buddy, but wholely unacceptable for wait-staff especially when the customer isn't being difficult. Sure the ambiance wasn't great, and the service wasn't great, but hey neither was the food, it was good, just not what I had expected from word of mouth, and reviews. Popular, Americanized, and crowded, it is good, but definitely over-hyped.

Another KNOCKOUT!! Everything was incredible. Even the scallion pancakes are something to write about. Their soup dumplings have a fatty broth to them which makes them out of this world, and so succulent! My son got lemon chicken. It's served katsu style and comes with a lemon broth to dip it in. Not only is this the most unique way of having lemon chicken, it's also the best! The chicken is thin slices with perfect crisp and the sauce is an explosion of flavor. Wife or the mao po tofu and it's a punch in the face in the most amazing way. Not overly spicy but with a bite! I'm not sure you can go wrong here so pick something and get ready to be left completely satisfied. Not to mention the service! The staff is so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is fun and energetic. Don't pass on Royal China!!

Went to this restaurant with a friend. Walk in and seated almost cafeteria style. Environment is very loud. Staff running around like they are super busy. Which they were rather full but immediate seating was available. Once we finally got to order it took the food a good while for food to come out. I ordered the General Kao Chicken. It came out room temperature. It tasted like it was battered in a thick flour. When you would eat it I would get that flour taste in my palate. Even the white rice was cold. He ordered a beef dish and wasn’t impressed with it either. I will not be back to this restaurant. I don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Chinese food. I’ve had better at Panda Express.

First time visiting this place, and it was packed. They have a bar at the front where you can grab a drink while you wait, but it is so small. We had the dumplings and meatball soup for appetizers, and the dumplings were normal, but the meatball soup was absolutely delicious for dinner, we had the red snapper and jalapeño chicken. Both came with riceThe fish was really really saucy and that threw me off a bit but the flavor was still there. It did have a bite so be aware if you don't like spicy food. The jalapeño chicken wasn't as spicy as we thought it would be but it was fine. I would definitely come back to try other things!

A friend and I came here to try some food. We showed up in the last hour and they were still so nice. (Some places hate it when you come in late and you can tell.) They did tell us we had 20 minutes to order. So we picked the dumpling sampler which was amazing! The rest was dealers choice. I feel like whatever our server picked out was going to be amazing. The tea she picked was great. The noodle dish was amazingly fresh tasting. And the meat was flavored so well. I can't wait to go back and try more with more time. The service was quick. The food was fresh, hot, flavorful, and filling. Definitely recommend and will go back.

First time, dine-in, ordered the Dumpling sampler, and fun rolls. Sure wish I got a picture of those. Like giant spring rolls with crunchy goodness inside too. Staff was wonderful. We were surprised to discover that they do not swap out noodles for rice by request. And the waiter was boasting about how flexible they are! If you want noodles with your meal you will be paying $5 for a plate of noodles that is large enough to be an entree. It worked for us as everyone at the table wanted noodles. I ordered fried beef, my husband the stir fried La mian noodles with pork. My son got orange chicken. Mine and his came with broccoli. It was great fried beef. Looking forward to the left-overs!

I’ve been here twice and going for a third time tonight. This isn’t a 5 star dining experience but it’s very good Chinese food. The food is a couple steps above take-out, but not what I would call fine-dining. I really like the soup dumplings and hand-made noodle dishes. The hot tea selection is extensive, and the portion sizes are generous. It always has a wait, in an area of town with discerning palates. Which says something to counter anyone giving a gravely harsh review. I would recommend this place for a group dinner, family dinner, or a date night.

Great place to eat. Best Asian food restaurant in Texas. They have the best soup dumplings. I always start with two or three orders. Their chilled hand pulled noodles are also very very good. I’d also recommend their dry stirred beef. But whatever you choose to eat, it’ll be tasty. They do have long wait times on the weekends. So I’d recommend a reservation!

I’ve been coming here for decades. The original owners son runs it now. They make their one pasta - noodle bar is the photo - faces the dining area. It’s fun to watch and hear the “thwap thwap “ when they beat the pasta into noodles. As a traveler to Asia, this is pretty darn good. And the decor reminds me of more modern Shanghai restaurants I visited in the 2000s. And they serve soup filled dumplings. I first had these in Taipei in about 2004 where it was considered a new delicacy and ones here are how I remember them - bursting with flavor. Food is always very good. A very popular Preston Hollow dining established for decades.

I just moved to the area and was looking for an authentic Chinese meal. The staff here was so friendly and quick! As soon as I ordered my meal, I promise it felt like it came out in 5 minutes! The staff made me feel like I stepped into another country and I was the guest of honor. I will be back! A bit expensive but the quality, portion, customer service, and ambiance is unmatched!

First time, dine in service. Wait was 20 minutes for two on a Friday night at 7:30, so not bad. The place was pretty lively but not overbearing. We ordered the dumpling sampler (8/10, chicken dumpling was the best), egg rolls (7/10), orange chicken (6.5/10), and the La Mian Noodles (9/10). Definitely make sure you get the La Mian noodles, these were amazing! The service was quick and the food was reasonably priced, we will be going back for sure.

We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30pm - there was a 30min wait and we sat down at 6:05pm. at 6:40pm we were finally able to place our order. We received our food around 7pm. We wanted more sauce for our food but it was hard to locate the waiter. we got the sauce around 7:20pm and then finally were able to pay and leave right before 8pm. It felt like a waste of 2.5 hrs. Our sauces were $4 each. The gluten free orange chicken doesn't taste like orange at all just lemon. Its my first and last time there.

After hearing about this place on 96.7 The Little Ticket by Robert Wilonsky we had to try it. We're so glad we did! We went on a Sunday night thinking it would not be busy.... We were wrong! The wait was only about 25 minutes... Not bad for the amount of people coming n going. The Delivery service pickups / To go pick ups made the standing room only waiting area a bit crazy but don't let it get to you. The wait and craziness was well worth it!

This place does a fantastic job spinning a modernized take on classic and Americanized Chinese dishes. They were quite busy on a Saturday night; we had a 30-45 minute wait without reservations that went by quickly. All staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We tried their Dan Dan noodles, soup dumplings, bao buns, and crispy duck. All were phenomenal.

So, I gotta tell you about this place called Royal China in Dallas. Our server, Shirley, was absolutely fantastic! She was super friendly and attentive throughout our entire meal. The food was seriously delicious - I mean, we couldn't get enough of it. The flavors were on point and everything was cooked to perfection. Plus, the portions were generous, so we definitely left with happy and full bellies. Overall, I'd say Royal China is definitely a winner. You should totally check it out if you're in the area! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This was the first time we came here and we had a great experience! As an Asian, I will say that this is the best Chinese restaurant in the DFW area! The ambiance is upscale and the staff was wonderful, so I believe this is a good option for special occasions and large parties. This time we had Mongolian Beef, Sichuan Spicy Fish, Three Cups Mushrooms and Royal Prawn. All of these dishes were amazing, tasty and filling! I will be sure to come back and try some of the other dishes!

Fast paced business and I found out that the order wasn’t cooked all the way so I asked the server and she said they use their own color for Americans to make the beef looks nice. I don’t know what kind of color they use but it didn’t sound healthy but artificial. After the food I got stomachs. I heard good thing about this business but it was a terrible experience with low quality of food.

Super friendly staff, excellent service that was fast and efficient for a Friday night. The egg rolls were great, very large and tasty with house made sweet and sour sauce/hot mustard on the side. I got the kung Pao chicken, it was good, but a little bland for my liking. I would go again to try some of their other dishes.

We have been frequenting Royal China for years. It takes a while to get a seat due to their popularity, but once you get in the service is excellent and the food even better! first time coming here and we had a great experience! we got the dumpling sampler, salt and pepper shrimp, spicy fish, pineapple fried rice, and hand pulled noodles. everything was super tasty and this is a great place for special occasions and large parties. staff is extremely productive in seating parties before time and accommodating during crazy hectic hours and our waiter was very sweet as well. will be coming back in the near future :)

Delicious Chinese food! So many great dishes, fresh and flavorful. Definitely try the soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao). Other favorites include the spicy wontons, handmade noodles, spicy fish, crispy beef and eggplant. Some of the best Chinese food in the DFW area. Extensive menu, lots of options. Restaurant is usually busy. Our server was friendly & helpful.

If you get pick up, check your order. Shrimp was placed in my child’s orange chicken. The restaurant charges $1 PER PACKET of mustard or duck sauce, even if you order egg rolls. Love their food, and been going for years, but there comes a point to where arrogance makes you think twice.

Really loved this place! I went with a couple friends, and it was awesome. We got a combo La Mian, chicken noodle soup (both with hand pulled noodles I think), and chicken fried rice. All of this was really good but the La mian and fried rice were excellent. We also got soup dumplings- definitely the best dumplings I’ve had in Dallas!

Not sure what all the hype is about. Pan seared pork dumplings had an egg batter texture, meat was pink and there were a lot of carrots in the dumpling tasted of vinegar. Not your typical Chinese fried dumpling. Egg roles were huge and therefore was 80% cabbage. Shrimp fried rice was good. Overall Just not that great.

Possibly my only ‘liked’ Chinese place in Dallas because I am still a NewYorker and there’s nothing like China Town Chinese food and Main Street, Queens Chinese food! However, even though it’s way too expensive compared to NY, their soup dumplings are pretty good..

We love eating here. Got Crab and cheese wonton, scallion pancakes, three delicacies soup, dong po pork, soup dumplings and rolling napa. We always get a pot of hot tea too. You can see them pulling noodles and making dumplings. They open for dinner at 430pm. Seriously great Chinese food!

The restaurant had a nice vibe , dumplings were just ok , the only soup dumpling they had was pork which we didn’t try ! the dough was little thick for the chicken dumpling , egg fried rice and lo mein noodles were good.
