Being a Sunbury local in a regular at the Royal Hotel ~ I can’t express how amazing the staff and food is. I often take myself and young family in for a meal and every time we are greeted by fun loving bubbly staff, when giving my kids an option where to go for tea it’s always the ROYAL. The staff go out of their way to ensure myself and kids are welcome (even interacting with my kids sharing some funny jokes). On other occasions my dad and I frequent the venue and always on arrival the staff are amazing and it’s reassuring to me that as my dad is nearly 80 years old he can spend a few hour in the venue being well looked after by gaming staff and them always engaging in conversation and assisting him when needed. A HUGE thank you to Donna (manager), Rebecca and Theresa!!! Again THANK YOU to Rebecca for your lovely friendly service this evening, the meals were great and your bright smiling face always makes our time at the Royal amazing - definitely 10/10. Thanks again July 23 Parma was OK, no customer service as such anymore. QR code in the middle of the table invites you into the Royal hotel to order your meals and drinks to your desired table and pay via the link that you have been taken to. Once completed your cutlery arrives with your drinks not far behind. Finally your meal arrives, reviews invited at this time........ Bek (bar staff) was a wonderful bonus when it comes to making you feel like you're at home..... Great place I'll be back..

Terrible. Won't be going back. Beer variety terrible. Chicken parma BAD! Moist schnitzel, not crispy. The only good thing was the chips. Beef roast as dry & tough as an old boot. Most of the service - if those old ducks smiled I think they would've cracked - if you hate people that much stay indoors. Some of the locals were friendly - so I'll give the star to them & the friendly lass that came in on her day off. I always wanted to try this place - I'm wondering if you had a bad day? Why have the menu as a QR code on the table - how do your older clients go with that nonsense? I'll never go back. And why tell me it's a 12k fine if my kids run into the pokies room? Did I put the pokies there & leave the door open for kids to see? I wish I could score this place in the negative. The kids meal - fish and chips appeared to be fried in the fires of Hell - too much.

I wouldn’t normally do this but have left your pub feeling very frustrated. Our experience was YUK! Looked through several suburbs for a yummy pub meal for lunch and chose ‘The Royal’. The staff were lovely and attentive but the food was gross. Everything was out of the packet, the food in the pictures was absolutely not what was served. The spring rolls were from the party box at Woolworths, the vegetables were from the vege tray in the fruit & veg section at Woolworths and the Parma was a chicken schnitzel also from the packet that they topped with a bit of ham, sauce & lots of cheese so you couldn’t see what was underneath. Anyone could have gone into your kitchen and heated this food up! What a disappointment & waste of money. I am truly shocked by the below reviews!!

We booked for lunch at the Royal hotel, Evans st, Sunbury, For our Mother’s Day family outing From making the booking to lunch, it was a very easy process , no holding fees, no set menu and no cancellation fee, which was absolutely fantastic, with 2 elderly parents and 4 grandchildren, anything can happen It was a great experience, very relaxing, from the moment we step into the venue we were welcomed, the staff were incredibly professional, welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious, it came out quickly and hot, the staff were always around to help with what we needed, the drinks were all reasonably priced We had a wonderful experience with a lovely atmosphere, I would highly recommend the Royal hotel Sunbury to others

It has been a while since our last sojourn. The menu is now a QR code on the table and it worked quite well. We ordered Seniors(because we can) but I would not recommend it if you are hungry. There is a concept that when you get older you don't eat as much. Anyway, we got steaks that are usually made for sandwiches. My Parma was about the size of a teenage chicken. I did have to order a garlic bread to just pack it up a little. But, all in all, everything tasted good. Garlic bread was very yummy, steaks were good, and parma was tasty but it disappeared in 3 minutes!

Popped in for lunch as I was enticed by the $9.95 pensioner menu. Scanned my QR code at the door and headed to the order counter where I was asked if I'd booked. (The place was half empty) I stated no so had to give my name and phone number etc. to book me in. I was told this was separate to the COVID check in. Ok then, so I ordered a small steak and proceeded to sit down. After 10 minutes one of the staff said she thought they hadn't taken my order so back to the order counter I went. From there on the meal appeared promptly followed a little later by my drink order. Steak was tasty and what I had expected at this price point. Can't expect champagne if you're on a beer budget.

Prices are fairly reasonable, our meals came out quickly, but I was quite disappointed with my meal. I'd ordered the spring rolls and they were obviously purchased at the local supermarket, had i known they were i wouldnt have ordered. The picture on the menu led me to believe they were 3 medium sized spring rolls, instead i recieved 10 mini spring rolls. My son had the schnitzel and chips from the kids menu and was seemingly pleased, but he didn't receive his ice cream as ordered. After having to already chase down our drink order, we had decided to leave. Bar staff seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. I do recommend the squealing pig Rose though. Absolutely delicious!

My family and I try pubs around different areas on a week night and we thought to try Royal Hotel. If you want an old school pub vibe, this is it! Staff are extremely friendly and the food was the best meal we have tasted so far! We even enjoyed the side salad!! So fresh and of good quality. We were told to try the sticky date pudding for dessert and my gosh, it is the best sticky date pudding we have ever had! We are extremely satisfied and will definitely be back!

Went today for lunch with my husband, after waiting a lengthy amount of time to be served & seated there was confusion for the menu choices. Opted for bar meal so moved into the bar area. Was rudly served by lady, another lady come over who was also blunt and rude. I was told I was getting irritable after asking about the menu on there Facebook page. Won't be returning, rude and not welcoming at all! Food was also average. Also found they were rude to other patrons that had arrived with confusion on menus and where to be seated etc.

I went for lunch with a group of friends,we were served straight away by a lovely young lady Kareen,then further assisted by Donna and Theresa,exceptional friendly service,they were also extremely helpful with our orders.Each one of us enjoyed our meals,they were fresh and cooked perfectly.We will all be going back.

Food was absolutely disgusting!! I ordered a parma and pot which was $27!!! That is the most outrageous price for a schnitty I have ever seen! And the chicken was absolutely disgusting, tough and overcooked. We were eating with my dear family friend Sue Allan and her son Lloyd, when they refused to serve her 10 year old son, because he needed to be 18 years old to be on the premises! That was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. Really disappointed at the service and wouldn't recommend anyone else try this joint.

It was our visit to the Royal Hotel Bistro on Thursday night and it was a lovely experience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They seemed to have a great rapport with all the dining patrons. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals. The food was well presented, flavoursome, good portion sizes and the meals came out hot from the kitchen. We also indulged in desert which was also lovely. It was our first visit on Thursday but certainly will not be our last as we have found a little gem to dine at in Sunbury

Wonderful dining experience last night! Has been a while since we've been to the Royal, so we thought we'd give it a go. We were greeted by the staff with such friendly and humorous personalities. They took the time to interact with us and were very attentive with their service. The food was on point, tasty and nicely made. Donna, the manager there, made our visit so welcoming. Will definitely be returning in the near future. Definitely a lovely little dining gem for Sunbury.

Been to this venue on multiple occasions for an afternoon drink or lunch and always been impressed. The staff are very caring and considerate and will quickly learn your preferences. Both the management and day to day staff will always be friendly. A special mention goes to Beck who even when run off her feet will help and always make sure the bistro and pub is clear of empties and looking neat and tidy. I will happily come back.

I often come here for lunch and this was the first time I feel I have to say that the meal was under average. The chips were definitely old and the staff member I complained to said they were cooked fresh today and walked off. Soo rude. In sayng that, I will definitely return as the manager rang me the next day and was honest and apologetic regarding the staff member. Only 4 stars because of one staff member. Normally 5stars.

Came twice and tried the Rump steak . Steak is old and not edible at all and had to throw it away . No refund after complaining to staff who claimed she told the chef about it.

Visited this hotel for lunch today. The Christmas vibe (eg) decoration’s were right in the spirit of this time of year. The 2 ladies that served us were just beautiful. Old fashioned, interactive, genuine service made our occasion so uplifting. This hotel is far for us to travel but I’d not hesitate to visit again. Our food was spot on and generous servings. Thanks so much for the experience.

Went here with a mate cause we heard the steak was pretty good. OMG I'll be back again, chose mash and veg and egg on top and it was probably the best ALH steak I've had. The drive was easy too. My mate said the calamari rings were spot on too. Love the old doors with the long windows looking out onto the street a nice pub !

First time visiting the Royal today and highly recommend. Such a homely feel in both the customer service and meal options. The beef pie & veg + sticky date were very hearty in both taste and sizing. The hostess donna was just fab even going out of her way to have a little fun with the kids, and treat them to a complimentary lolly bag . smiles all round - thanks team

Steve the guy at the bar was rude telling me to close the door to the pokies as my toddler was about to walk in there. Mate close the door yourself it's not my job. Also had my woolworths discount card rejected as I didnt have the hard copy on me. Bloke has the personality of a house brick and customer service skills to match. Food was average too. Went on a Friday night for dinner. Meals were a descent size and prices were reasonable. Bistro area not that big, I would say Max of 30 people. Ordering is done via an app at the table. It's in the same area as TAB or drinking area. At times got a little on the loud end. Staff need to smile a little more. Other than that I would go again.
