I recently ordered two bottles of bourbon online and three times received a prompt that my credit card information was incorrect. Im 100% positive my card information was accurate as three charges for the same amount posted to my credit card statement. I also received an order confirmation number from royal wine merchants. I didn't think much of it, figured it might be a system glitch, disputed two of the three charges and waited for a tracking number for my shipment. When it never came I emailed royal wine and relayed all of this information. While they did respond quickly, they completely ignored everything I said and simply said my card information was wrong and they didn't ship my order, even though I referenced my order confirmation number and told them multiple charges hit my credit card. I was offered no recourse and the fact that I said all three charges posted to my credit card statement was completely ignored. I have purchased alcohol online multiple times recently from different stores with zero issue. The lack of customer service from royal wine when I explained my issue has lost my business for life. Im sure they don't care as I am only one customer, but I believe in praising great customer service, as well as calling out bad customer service, in hopes that the issue may be corrected for future customers.
This is the cutest and my favorite wine shop in Manhattan. They’ve done an excellent job of utilizing the space to elegantly display a massive selection of wine options. It would be overwhelming if not for Nora who is always helpful and knows the perfect wine for any occasion. If you’re hosting a party or need a lot of wine their 3 for $30 rack is one of the best deals there is - but the wine is actually good and not just bottom barrel stuff. They also very often have a wine they’ll let you taste to make to help decide what you’re going for and at a minimum allow you to tell them what you like/dislike. While small, this is a nice perk that most shops don’t offer. The prices are affordable and the ambience of the shop will charm you. If you’re in need of a wine/liquor store in FiDi look no further!
Ordered a chateau ducru beaucaillou from this merchant on Vivino ($228) and it was spoiled. Tasted like vinegar. Thanks for the reply. To give you some idea, let's say the comparable first wine of second growth Bordeaux is 9/10 (like Pichon Baron, Cos d estournel), and second wine of second growth is 6/10 (Croix de Beaucaillou, Reserve de la Comtesse). This particular bottle was a solid 2/10. So bad it was in a different universe. If it's directly from the chateau and you've stored it properly I'm really not sure what went wrong. Another thing I don't like about the ducru beaucaillou (which isn't your fault) is there's no authentication code or bubble tag.
Royal Wine Merchants is THE perfect example of a neighborhood business making life better for its neighbors. Not only are they a lovely bunch if people with a beautifully curated store, they are also wildly generous and supportive of community needs. They consistently and generously donate to the local public school. We are so grateful to be patrons of theirs. And my sons says…..”I think they should change the name to ‘Best Wine Store Ever’. The Candy they have hidden for the kiddos is certainly a treat. And My dog agrees - best treats. Best friends.
Found this store online while searching for a hard to find liquor. The service and responsiveness was excellent. They let me know when the items would be shipped, provided details and assisted with all questions I had. All items were well protected during shipping and prices were very reasonable Overall a very positive experience and I look forward to doing business with them again for items that I simply can't get in my area.
I moved to Wall Street 2 months ago and went to every liquor store in the neighborhood for wine for cooking, Marsala and dry white….this was by far the best feeling store in the neighborhood. Being a bartender I looked at their booze just out of curiosity and was pleased with their selection and price point. The staff is 100% what sets them apart from any other store in the neighborhood.
The place has a good selection for its size and the staff is friendly, but around here you've got to be suspicious about price. I got a bottle of brandy as a gift for $53. Checking it online, it goes for about $40--a little less some places, a little more others. That may not be the worst price gouging in lower Manhattan, but I won't be going back.
So thrilled to have found this little gem. The people who work there are charming and helpful, lots of really interesting European wines to choose from at a good price, and you really can't beat the 3 for $30 deal. If I were a local, I'd definitely join their wine rewards club. Apparently they have free tastings for members. Thank you!
These guys are like the best of the best when it comes to recommend wines omg they are part of my Wall Street routine right now, just go there ask them which wine for which occasion and they are like super perfect, god bless them and America, like part of my American dream etc 10 stars if I could.....freaking love them.... <3
one of the better wine stores in lower manhattan. cozy with an amazing selection of wines from all over the world, and their spirits selection is well thought out and as good as it gets. The employees are extremely knowledgeable and can help you find anything you are looking for. can't recommend it enough
Go to this tiny, off the beaten path wine shop!! Huge selection of wine and you can find some great sales... Example in photo... 3 bottles for $30!! No where else in the FiDi have I seen a sale or price like that! Not to mention the staff is so nice and friendly. Highly recommend!!
Without a doubt my favorite wine and liquor store in the area. The 3 wines for $30 is always a great buy. They have a friendly staff who is willing to answer any questions you may have about wine or liquor. Frequent tastings are always a nice surprise as well.
one of the best wine stores that you can visit. . .anywhere. . .knowledgable team who know wine. . .will work with all budgets from value bottles to the rarest selections. . .not pretentious. . .all about taste. . .a pure joy to be a customer of theirs
Great place to buy wine or whisky. The staff is very knowledgeable and will always take time to make sure that you buy what you are looking for and to give you a lot of information about the winery and the technics used to craft the wine.
So much good wine here and the people that work here are truly people that care about their business and care about their customer service. This is a great small business
They stock a wide and considered range of spirits, and were incredibly helpful - even going so far as to bubble-wrap my bottles for a flight. Much appreciated!
Great selection and great prices! My wife and I enjoy picking up a bottle or two from here. They also usually have a great 3 for $30 selection that rotates.
This place will have you saying zoo weee mama and will blow your socks off. Wonderful staff and they’ll find you a wine you love before you can say “wine”.
The younger lady that works there is super welcoming. She let me try a bunch of samples from all over. I didn’t buy anything I loved the store and workers
If you have someone to have a date, well, this wine shop is perfect for you. I've been here a couple of times, and I really like the wine they've served.
I love this place - they welcome dogs (complete with treats) and have always made us feel like part of a neighborhood. Oh the wine is great as well!
Best liquor store in Fidi, prices are $20-40 less per bottle than all the other stores in the area. Workers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Knowledgeable staff who don't pressure you, and a great selection of unusual wines and spirits. My favorite liquor and wine store in FiDi!
Small but very lovely store with great selection of wine and hard liquor. Very friendly and knowable stuff. And yeah, open on weekends.
Terrific staff. I left my email with them to inquire about a rum, and they got back to me exactly when I had asked them to.
Very clean, the manager was professional and helpful. Prices are what one would expect for the Wall Street area.
Friendly place, very useful staff, small but pack with good selection. Only negative point is that is is small.
Great staff, easy going atmosphere, good selection, tastings and a wonderful neighbourhood establishment.
Knowledgeable staff, very helpful when recommending wines and whiskeys. Would highly recommend!
Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Marvelous selection. Some rare bottles available.
Intimate stop for fine wine and good liquors. Tastings, and they make good recommendations.
Nice enough, guess their rent is high. Wasn't planning to spend $14 for a pint of vodka.
Great wine store with nice deals. The staff and owner are really nice as well!
