I strongly advise against using this cab company if you value your safety and well-being. Last night, I was picked up from Gatwick airport, and the experience was highly problematic. After reading the previous review, it seems to be the same driver. To begin with, the driver failed to meet us at the arrivals area and instead waited outside the Premier Inn, which required a significant 5-minute walk. Furthermore, the driver neglected to inform us of his location, adding to the inconvenience. However, the most concerning aspect was the driver's reckless behavior on the road. Throughout the journey, the driver was swerving dangerously on the M23, causing me to grip onto the door handle in fear. The situation escalated when the driver proceeded to run three red lights at an excessive speed. It appeared as though the driver was either veering into oncoming traffic or abruptly slowing down to a mere 5 mph. I cannot say for certain if the driver was under the influence, but it was evident that they were unfit to be behind the wheel. In fact, I was compelled to exit the vehicle prematurely and seek an alternative mode of transportation after realising that the driver was about to run yet another red light in Sydenham. The driver received multiple beeps from other drivers due to his abysmal driving skills. It is clear that this individual should not be allowed on the road. If you happen to be picked up by a driver with the license plate LL69 HMV, I urge you to avoid them at all costs. It would be far safer and more prudent to opt for a different taxi company

Booked for a 2.55am dropoff, Camberwell to Gatwick Airport. Driver was on time. It was all downhill from there. Unfortunately, our driver was terrible. He was extremely tired, and was falling asleep at the wheel. On multiple occasions he veered into the opposite lane and adjacent lane, often being flashed or tooted at by other drivers.  On the motorway he nearly veered into the left lane wall. He was drinking coffee, water, eating sweets, and driving with window open to stay awake. He also was driving in the middle of 2 lanes, and very slowly, often 10mph below the speed limit and 50mph on the motorway! The journey took longer than it should have done. This is not acceptable and not safe. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable journey. I emailed Rye cars to provide feedback, but no response. Would not use again. And more expensive than Uber.

I believe some of those who reviewed this company here are competitors trying to tarnish its reputation! This is the best cab company in SE!!!!! Me and hubby have been using this company for over 7 months, with weekly recurrence and I can only say THEY ARE ALL AMAZING. From the operators responding to phone calls, to drivers, everyone at Rye Cars is polite, genuinely kind and drivers are very good and competent. We booked them even to go to Surrey with our ill kitty, and for whatever journey we were looking to arrange, they sorted every logistic problem for us. We have never been picked up late, or paid more than agreed over the phone. It is a resounding, huge 10 out 10 from us! THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!

What a strange experience. The staff is really inexperienced or purposely ignore you claiming they are too busy. I have made one call requesting 4 cabs for a company event. I was give a quote. The second time I called to proceed with the booking I was told I can’t book 4 cabs. Two colleges going back and forth with each other about my call without putting me on hold. Eventually they have told me no cabs are available apparently and that they don’t pick up from my location. Clearly just wanted me to end the call. No one is willing to help or show some kindness these days.

I used to love this service and used it often for airports and other bookings. But recently their reluctance to support my regular booking in the morning, or what was even more disapointing was their reluctance to even consider it in the future, was extremely disapointing. I understand it is peak period but not even consider my bookings for next month without clear reason was surprising. I was trying to support a local business that I liked and the response and explanations as to why they did not want this regular business was very disapointing.

Very good service and on time. Had a 3am pick up to Heathrow and they were a few mins early. When I booked the taxi a week before I was told I could pay by card on the morning after the drop off but on the day the driver didn’t have a card reader so we had to stop off at get cash out on our way to the airport. Not a massive issue but that was the only downside. Other than that I would recommend as they didn’t let us down (like others have done in the past). I would highly recommend and use again!

I had to get from East Dulwich to an appointment in Harley Street a couple of weeks ago. I got a text confirmation and a call from the taxi driver just before pick up time. The driver was absolutely lovely, very chatty and courteous. Drove really well and the car was spotless. He ended up waiting during my appointment and taking me back to East Dulwich. I don't usually leave reviews but he was so nice and it made a huge difference on what was otherwise a stressful day. Would highly recommend.

Driver did not show up at scheduled time without any contact from either driver or operator indicating a delay. After waiting 15 minutes I called the operator to locate my driver and spent 5 minutes on hold and was told the driver would be at least another seven minutes away - I ended up arranging an alternative transfer to the airport and cancelled the Rye Cars transfer given the no show and poor service. One should not need to wait 30 minutes for an airport transfer.

Heavily pregnant and booked this service to get to a hospital appointment - taxi was over 20 minutes late meaning I was waiting for ages out on the street in midday heat, and caused me to miss my hospital appt. Very little apology from the company, inaccurate tracking and ETA information, and an inadequate response in terms of recompensing me. Previous airport transfers have also been late - I will no longer be using this company.

Rye Cars is Terrific. 1) Reliable - if they confirm 'the cab will pick you up in FIVE minutes' - IT will pick you up in FIVE minutes. 2) Very reasonable rates - if you give the final destination you will always get an instant price. 3) Polite drivers providing a very punctual comfy ride to your destination. Terrible terrible terrible like I was back in the 80s. Hopefully I won’t miss my flight. Pre booked cab for airport for 6:10am. Lady called at 6:10 to say driver on way and 5-8mins late. At 6:20 had to call back she gave excuses. At 6:25 cab driver called “I thought you cancelled”. 6:30, I cancelled and ordered an Uber, which I should have done in the first place.

Shambolic booking process, no online confirmation sent to people who are requesting airport pick up and likely in another country, drivers turn up 25 mins late after going to the wrong location TWICE, phone ops threaten you with bans because of their inept tech and hang up on you taking no responsibility for their shody service. Nightmare company.

Arrived promptly as scheduled. The apps used by the company is very useful in knowing around what time the driver is arriving as it constantly updates the distance where the driver is from where we are. Very professional and pleasant staff, from the one booking the the service and the driver.
