My husband and I really love mexican foods. He really loves birria tacos. That's why when we went to Ottawa he saw this authentic mexican restaurant. We went for a late lunch-early dinner there. It was Thursday, and they have this deal every Thursday, 2 Quesabirrias just for 13cad or something. It's cheap but the quality is sooooo good. I had chicken quesadillas, and it's one of the best quesadillas I've ever had. We had those partnered with our favorite mexican soda, the Jarritos. We also ordered dessert, their churros and tres leches cake. It's our 1st time to have crispy and so good churros!! Also, we love the vibe of the restaurant. It's small, but filled with good ambiance. The staffs are so nice and accommodating. You can hear them sing and enjoy their shift. I highly recommend this place. Didn't disappoint! Would love to be back and bring our friends with us.

Downtown is home to so many amazing local restaurants. I found this cute little Mexican restaurant on Rideau street called Si Señor. They wanted to bring the authentic food they love from their country to Ottawa. The mural, art work, and wall sculptures really enhances the feeling of being in Mexico, very beautiful. Ok food time!! What amazing and delicious flavours, the ingredients were fresh, everything looked as good as they tasted, I'm sure I could have eaten all the tacos but of course I must share. Our meal came with a side of rice and 2 drinks, so we decided to try Mexican Coke, there really is a difference in taste. The guacamole was creamy and loved the chunks of tomatoes. The pico de Gallo had a great flavour balance of lime and cilantro. The chips were nice and crunchy and went great with both the guac and pico. I also got a few tamales, so good!! If you are in the mood for some amazing tacos, you need to try this place! You will not be disappointed. #Supportlocal #ottawafoodiestalker

Well, I'm very disappointed by my food. I had been following this restaurant on insta and the food always looked so delicious. To start I went to their original location at 1:30on Saturday. It was not open. So I traveled to their new location 15 mins away. I asked for 3 flour tortillas and 3 corn. We received all corn. I personally dislike corn so I was upset. My husband was the one to pickup the order because I was waiting in the car with the baby. I did not send him back to correct the order because we had already waited 15mins for the order in the 1st place. Now for the food, we order a beef and 2 different chicken tacos. All were dry and over cooked meats with a soggy corn tortillas. So soggy my last taco actually fell apart. The tacos were dry and underwhelming. The churros were good. Overall not at all worth the $50

#1 Ordered a combo and the cashier pushed us towards premium upgrades without telling us of the increased charges # 2 The combo we ordered did not come with half the things per the menu. Had to fight to get our nachos #3 - Was sick on the toilet within one hour of eating here. #4 - way over priced. Fine dining prices for hole in the wall fast foody type place. The owner/manager likes to say negative reviews are "fake". In my opinion, all the positive reviews are fake - either done by his staff or purchased from a review mill. There is no way on this planet this is a 4.6/5 restaurant

I want to go back. No. Wait. I want to live there. Super friendly staff, super delicious food, and the ONLY place in Ottawa that serves Birria. According to the staff member I spoke to (I think he was the owner) Birria is served for a week every two weeks. The food was outstanding. This restaurant made me like Cilantro. The Birria was served either as tacos or in a bowl. We chose bowls. We left so full, I wanted to be rolled home. The atmosphere screams authentic Mexican restaurant, the food is fresh and flavourful, and the desserts were so good. I normally can't get through a lot of food. I ate the whole damned thing. I now understand the name of the restaurant. Should you eat here? SI SEÑIOR! (y Señoritas)

My boyfriend and I went and we ordered the beef quesabirria tacos, the poblano tamale and the verde tamale. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The single order or taco came with three. They were all filling: the ratio of meat and cheese was perfect, and the consommé was divine! We ended up drinking it. The tamales were light but filling and oh so tasty. My favourite thing about the tamales is that they came to our table about 15 minutes after we ordered, which tells me they were wrapped and steamed to order. I would go back to si senor in a heartbeat!

My first of many visits to come! I picked coming here today because I was celebrating my friend/colleague who had her last day with us today as she will be starting a new job next week. We agreed to have Mexican food and I had heard and read a lot of really good feedback about Sí Señor. So glad we came! The food was on point, the drinks - AMAZING, the atmosphere- nothing I have ever experienced before and it made me feel like I was in Mexico Highly recommend Sí Señor, and they can expect me back again for sure!

The Mexican chaps dining inside indicated this is the best Mexican restaurant in all of Ottawa. Nice fully shaded patio in the backyard of the early 1900's house that houses the restaurant. It's 32°C today in Ottawa and the restaurant is not air conditioned so dining on the patio is a must. I went for the Quesabirrias at the recommendation of the counter attendant. Initially I was concerned given the oily / soggy appearance but the dish was absolutely fine. As the menu clearly states it's drenched in consomme during preparation. Friendly staff. Would most definitely return.

Easily the best Mexican food I have had since moving to Canada from California. From the al pastor, tinga, to the chorizo. Everything here is fantastic. Without a doubt the best in Ottawa. This is the most authentic that you will get here. Owners are super friendly and nice. I cannot wait to come here again. Even though it is way out of the way for me, I will be coming here often. The horchata is the best and most accurate that you can get in Canada. This place is better than corazon and Ahora. Stop wasting your money there. Come here. You will not be disappointed.

This is my wife's and my favourite taco place in Ottawa. We go at least once per month. Absolutely delicious. I wanted to write a review specifically about their catering service. We got Hugo and the team at Si Senor to cater our wedding. They were fantastic. The food was just as good as it is in the restaurant. Hugo was extremely helpful with the planning, and always very flexible with our last-second requests and menu changes. We highly recommend them if you want food for an event!

Really delicious and authentic tasting food! Lots of options and pretty fair prices. The establishment is pretty small so it’s not the best sit down formal place but for a quick bite it does the job. The people working were nice but definitely busy with takeout orders so we had to wait a bit for them to take our order. Good cane fast though and definitely want to come back to try more items in the future!

My boyfriend and I love eating here when we're downtown! We appreciate the unique food made well, the portions compared to cost are great, and I love the interior decor. Best quesadilla ever!!I hope they do well so they can expand their indoor eating area someday - that's my only critique and it's not their fault. I appreciate the patio seating.

Ordered via delivery app. Packed well!!! Got the 2 person taco deal. Overall enjoyed and would order again. Almost all the tacos, guacamole and chips were delicious. Tacos are loaded with meat (the crispy brisket was especially good.) Green salsa was yummy, too. Only complaints: wish the rice was replaced with pico to eat with the chips. Also did not like the shrimp tacos (didn't like that they were battered.)

We had a wonderful dinner at Sí Señor. They have an outdoor patio that can transport you to a Mexican fonda. We tried the taco combo, the cheese poblano Tamal and the Quesabirria which where delicious. The salsas were delicious and the serving sizes very fulfilling. They have Mexican drinks like Jarritos and the combo includes a little churro for dessert. Great and quick service. If you are eco conscious bing your own cutlery to avoid the plastic. Definitely will visit again.

Wanted authentic Mexican street tacos and got them here at this restaurant. The pastor filling had chunks of fresh pineapple and the meat had a nice flavour to it. The black bean, avocado filling was a hit also with my vegetarian daughter. Although the tacos look small they are filling. The guacamole and chips are also a great accompaniment to their tacos. If you love authentic Mexican food this is the place to eat at.

We were excited to try this place, based on reviews, not necessarily reputation. It was our date night, we LOVE Mexican food and especially nachos. There seems to be a confusion in our perception of "nachos" as the tortilla chips were more under the fajita spell : peppers, onions, spices... not much cheese, no coriander nor corn or olives. Oh well!!! :(

Loves these tacos! My friends from Mexico told me these are pretty good authentic tacos! I loved the customer service and the decor inside. Small dining area but most people do take out I believe. The Birria tacos are delicious along with the shrimp taco! Guacamole was also good! Prices were fair. Would recommend and come again.

Came here on a Tuesday for their $3.50 Taco Tuesday special. We ordered the al pastor, cochinita pibil, chorizo, and suadero tacos. The winners were definitely the cochinita and suadero - both were tender, moist and full of flavour! They also use quality tortillas which are so important. I appreciated the little details of doubling up on the tortillas for the saucey tacos, and keeping it to one tortilla for the dry ones. I'll be back for more!

  • Steve S

Just finished the best tacos since Mexico. Everything was super fresh and full of flavour. My only regret is not stealing more of the cactus quesadilla from my wife. The price is really good for the quality and service is awesome. Most everything is gluten-free since it's all corn based. You can even get a burrito that is gluten-free. This place will definitely keep us coming back. Oh ya, and to-go Pina colada is the best thing ever!!

  • CanadianCEO

Si Senor is like being at your mexican grandma's house for dinner. All the food has that home cooked traditional feel that elevates the food quality beyond what you get at restaurant chains. The pulled pork and beef barbacoa were amazing. Really enjoyed the quesadillas and tacos. My only complaint is the hot sauce is not spicy and there is no focus on spicy. I would like to see a spicy option or at least a spicier sauce on the side.

  • Rick Cuthill

It is Sunday Jan 7, 2024. Arrived at Si Senor at 11:40 AM. Google said Open and the times for Sunday are listed as 11 AM to 4 PM. In reality Si Senor was Closed. The times had been updated 5 days past by the restaurant. -- Updated -- Thank you Si Senor for your response. I have modified my review to 3 stars (neutral) because I have not yet had the opportunity to eat at Si Senor, but I will and hope to increase the rating once again.

Cute place . Lots of tacos to chose from . We tried the sopa de tortilla, and it was more like a pozole. Was really disappointed for the soup, but it was good . We also got the taco meal , the tacos were delicious and very fresh , however it took forever to get limes so they were a bit dry without the limes . Once we got the limes, the only taco we had left was delicious. Great selection of drinks .

Great snack food with tons of flavor. The tacos are very good. The chicken taco has great value. We prefered it over the mexican sausage taco. We also got to see the burrito. The burrito did not have a satisfactory amout of black beans or black bean sause. Besides that it was great. They also forgot a taco. I will go back later to see if they will give it to us from memory.

  • Noelle

I love this spot!!! They are a little bit out of the way, but so worth visiting for authentic Mexican food. Their quesabirria tacos are the best in Ottawa. Only downside is that the backyard patio always seems to be closed whenever I visit despite being advertised as open on their social media. Definitely call ahead of time if you are looking to dine in their back patio.

  • Greg Hamre

The atmosphere was ethnic and the food was delicious. It will take you from the streets of our downtown neighbourhood to the street food of Mexico. The pricing is very good. We had Tortilla soup and the Wednesday $10.00 large Burrito. Homemade ingredients and Latin flavours.

First time in, ordered take out, didn’t know what to get but wanted to try a many things. loved it. Tried 4 tacos with the first four options listed in the fillings, tamals were still hot when I brought them home. The horchata was so refreshing and smooth, I’d love to come back and enjoy all this on their patio when the weather is warmer.

Closest thing you are going to get to Mexican street food. Tacos are great! Ask for the really hot sauce. Have a chaparrita or jarrito or a Yoli!..... even a tequila shot! You can also buy "artesanias" for decor. Probably the Mexican food in Ontario. Taco Tuesday!
