Asked the "barista" in the Insomnia to wash his hands after changing the bins before he made my coffee and he said "no I'm fine". I assumed he misheard me because that's a strange reply but he reiterated he wasn't going to wash his hands. I went over to the main cashier of the spar and he couldn't have cared less, then he called the supervisor over who also couldn't have cared less. The barista then came over and yelled at me to leave him alone... Even though I was nowhere near him at the time. The guy literally had bin juice on his hands before taking orders. The supervisor says to me "sorry" and I said "well don't say sorry, just tell the guy to wash his hands". He didn't. So the health inspector can deal with it.
walked out of the shop at around 1am after buying a roll and some cigarettes, i’m about 2 metres out of the door when the black security guard yanks me back demanding he sees the sticker on my deli roll. Can i just ask when it’s acceptable to assault people on the street based on assumptions? Whilst i’m trying to get this minimum wage brokie off of me a homeless woman grabs me and attempts to kick me twice. Now, could this have not happened if he just knew his place and didn’t interfere? If anyone from the managment team is reading this I suggest you have a chat with the security and mention to him that if he does that again to me or anyone else he wont be able to work again after assaulting someone. Thank you.
Ridiculously expensive close to the point of it being a crime. The layout is like a maze but not the fun kind. The staff shout at you like something out of Schindler's List. I picked up a bottle of favoured still water. Conveniently there was no price advertised. It was €3! The sales assistant smirked at me like he pulled of a great heist. Whoever owns this place must be absolutely rolling in it. Off somewhere sipping cocktails on the beach thinking about the €7 chicken fillet rolls that the simple minded plebs are paying for. Next time I'll be taking my business to the various shops in close vicinity that don't hoist you upside down Indiana Jones style and empty your pockets into their tills.
I was in this shop Tuesday the 22nd of March 2021. And I really must compliment the staff of this shop, It’s spotless clean and a lovely fresh scent of disinfectant detol upon entering the shop, Hand sanitizer is at the door and if all shops follow the hygiene of this shop we will beat covid19 The staff are welcoming and very friendly with a smile which makes a huge difference to other shops, The food on the delicatessen was fresh and very reasonably priced, I would highly recommend this shop to do business in if you are around the city, The management should be very proud of the staff who make this premises worth visiting.
Staff are efficient and friendly, have everything yoy need up till late hour. If you are not in close for a big grocery shopping place yes its more expensive than your local grocery shop but it's still help when u in need for one item for a friend visit or milk ran out if you are closer than a grocery shopping or just fency something else for a quick snack they have it all. The only thing is that the insomnia branch don't have the option to tap for loyalty card not by phone or physical card, which is not ideal, it takes one second to scan the card why wouldn't be an option, they should fix it
Just walk across the road for even a hint of a good shopping environment. Overpriced deli, with a pretty poor selection of hot and cold foods. It's on one of the busiest streets in Dublin. So that's not surprising, but the service is so rude and slow, with impolite staff at every level of your shopping experience, it's a simple example of location over substance. Cutting corners at the corner store, just avoid it. Please. For your sake. Also, that huge pile of bin bags and rubbish outside on Dame Street....yip, that's theirs. But I guess that's not all that surprising.
Spar is offering a lying promotion. I bought a coffee and a water, the server was very rude. I don’t know his name, they don’t use badges, just know he works in the coffee and is asian. I asked “could add a water please?” he told to go and get it, I turned for 3s and when I came back he already was taken care of another customer. I paid my water and coffee and asked for the ticket. There my water was charged as 2.59, when I asked him why, he gave me no answer. One of the most expensive places around and rudest staff. Bad bad experience.
This place is a disgrace, as they have money they don't consider anything but their own interests. If there are people with allergies such as celiacs, it doesn't seem normal to me that they make you buy bread and then make you pay for having to buy a sandwich. Without offering the possibility of making gluten free sandwiches. Sometimes bosses make decisions but it doesn't mean that we have to respect their decisions because they are unfair decisions based on self-interest, if we don't respect each other those above us don't respect us.
My friends and I ventured here after a late night sojourn to get some sustenance. There is no doubt in my mind that this was the single best deli experience that I ever had. The workers slinged out those wraps/rolls very swiftly without compromising their composition. The chicken to salad ratio was perfect, the taste was there and none of the fillings were falling out (a huge peeve of mine). My only grievance about the whole experience is that I don't live in Dublin, so will likely never go here again. 10/10
Getting worse as we speak. The woman in the insomnia coffee part is so boring and anti social, sloppy service. And the spar till guys are always really scary and unfriendly. Doesent give tourists a good view of Ireland. The Boston donuts are the only good thing there. Everything is overpriced. You can't get almost anything for a euro! They have good selection of drinks though. Crisps however not they haven't got alot of crisps. Insomnia is so overpriced you get a tiny ice filled cup for almost over a fiver!
Bought a chicken roll for €5.50. I knew the price beforehand and had no problem paying it but the quality of it was awful. The lettuce that was prepared and full to the top of the box was brown. This is at 9.30am on a Monday morning so there was no reason for it to be brown. I had to ask him for another batch. Really regret not going somewhere else. The roll was that bad I couldn’t finish it. If you’re going to charge that price at least have the decency to sell good quality food.
Hi there, Today is the gay pride. A very special day. I was at the spar in Dame street which I go to after a night out in the city centre of Dublin. I usually get a baguette with 4 fillings and I pay 5.50euro for it. I went today for a sandwich and I got the same baguette with the same fillings and paid 3 euros more. I understand today's a very crowded day but it does not mean the prices can be risen so much. It's unacceptable to take advantage of this event to make mote money
The start staff were very good. They saw me coming on the proving. A few red onions, Ahhh, come on, although I did not count them. The music played there must cost the Spar a fortune in royalties. Decent enough quality of good. It's a nice place to watch Dublin walk by. Wheelchair access available. Off licence on site. Open 24/7. The delicatessen has a good variety of options, including vegetarian options as well.
Great Spar, with a very good location and it is open 24/7. I do love this shop but there prices are way to expensive, each time i order a wrap or roll they always give me different prices and i get the same order each time. Some times it could be 5 euro and other times it could be 6.50 euro. it is a great shop and i would of gave it 5 stars but the prices are very disappointing.
I had an Apple slice from the insomnia cafe section it tasted good but they didn’t have any plates and I don’t think it’s a good way to serve cake or pie in a paper bag i hope you start using paper or Woden plates if you can’t afford actual plates. Overall tho the taste was good and it tasted fresh also the guy there was nice and tried to be helpful as much as he could.
The last time I visited I bought my food and went to sit down and eat it. A few minutes later I was harassed by a security guard and accused of stealing in front of other customers. He seemed to think this was an appropriate way to treat a customer and offered no apology even after it was established I had paid. I was shaken by the incident and haven't returned since
Deli is shocking... ridiculous prices for add ons and no warning or notice of this before its finished. Hot food items are normally really dry also. Poor attitude from staff at deli. Leave u waiting while they finish their conversations and really rude.. checkout staff couldn't be more helpful. Very friendly and attentive. Just a shame it's not consistent throughout
Both shops Spar and Centra across the road, tell that you can't top up a gas card using credit card and you need to pay by cash. They explain that it is their new policy, what as I checked it is not truth. It is policy provided by employees working there, and they are lying to customers. I'm interested what do the owners of of these shops think about this ?
Went to have a midnight meal after drinks but the staff were too opportunistic that they literally asked me and my two of the friends to pay THRICE even we paid for the food at first. Just because me and my friend were drunk they tried to force us to pay the bill thrice. So disappointed by the staff, particularly staff member Tapu and manager named Mangela.
I know I can't expect much at a 24 hr Spar in Dublin, but all I wanted was a chicken fillet roll with tomato and lettuce. Half way through the sandwich I discovered a mayonnaise covered moth before i would have taken a bite. Absolutely revolting. Do yourself a favour and skip Dublin altogether worst spar experience in the country this far.
City centre goldmine. Droid staff and impersonal, not that they have to care about any standard of customer service there. I don't think the staff member who dealt with me had two words to say to me. Zero CS skills, but as usual i never blame the staff. Poor customer service is a management fail. Another wasted smile and greeting from me.
What can you say about this Spar accept wow. It has become such an iconic part of the nightlife of Dublin crowds, that you can drop by here any night of the week to watch the madness ensue. Great staff, very well stocked and very wide range of products. Their hot/cold is always flowing with hungry punters. Great shop, great location.
Staff are nice but 6.40 for a roll with just chicken and 1 piece of white pudding is extortionate 80cent just for the one piece of pudding when you can buy a full sauof it for less than 2e what a scam not to mention 2.70 for a bottle of Pepsi with 2.25 writen on it welcome to Dublin were you get ripped off on every corner
A few days ago, a deli attendant sold me what I think is the MOST EXPENSIVE chicken fillet roll at €6.50 with just sun-dried tomatoes and cheddar. I told him this is expensive by every metric. I've since gone to other delis around for same at much lesser price. I love the shop however but will go elsewhere for breakfast.
Went in paid for a roll and a drink. Sat down to eat it. Then 3 different staff including the manager accused me of robbing it. I told them I paid but wouldn't believe and was told it was up to me to prove I did. All 3 were very abusive towards me. No apology once they checked the cameras and realized I had payed.
Special place in Dublin Ireland 24h working some services including costumes service improved but still need to more Staf night time weekends because sometimes extremely busy and it’s no make sense waiting 30 min on till or front deli for sandwiches, but all rest it’s fine like for big city cannot asking for more
SPAR is like a Tourist trap, it looks good from outside, but its 2x to 3x more expensive then other supermarkets like Costco or LIDL. I wouldnt recommend buying anything here, if you have a budget for the day. There are maybe some products that arent so expensive but still more expensive then other supermarkets.
Just been charged 5.20 euro for a chicken and egg mayo roll .what a rip off .went back to the deli counter to query the price and the guys said it's 1 euro extra for egg mayo .I get these regularly in spars mace Centra etc and I have bought them from 2.80 up to 4.00. First and last time I use this shop
Anytime I go into this store it is extreamly uncomfortable. The security guy and a blonde girl follow me around the store on every occasion. I had thought I was been paronoid but was with a friend recently in there and they were gobsmacked. Really uncomfortable and awkward. These guys need training.
By far the most crowded spar in town. There's always beggars sitting at the door and it's a mission going in and out with people blocking the entrance while waiting for the traffic lights. We got a leap card from them and got charged 10€ instead of 5€. Not sure why on earth they doubled the price.
Lovely shop great staff and very helpful and friendly, They have put up with a lot very annoying people that hang around the property and very abusive to the customer's and staffs, Security provided need to do more with Gardaí to ensure that customers and are staffs and safe,
The most iconic Spar in all of Dublin. The Deli has always been supply and demand on a late night with great esteem, but they gotta cook the rolls more, one thing everyone hates is a white roll. Other than this it's the place to be for a bite after a night out …
I didn’t see the grime and filth the other recent reviews mentioned. I also just went in and grabbed some beer and didn’t got to any of the little food stands within the shop. Seemed decent enough to me. Not full blown groceries with lots of produce and the like.
Before the pandemic it was the place to go for a chicken fillet roll after a night out. And now it is back to its former glory. Always a great friendly buzz in here, hot food at deli counter, a little insomnia, an off license and snacks and a seating area.
WISH I could give it more Great service, top notch Fabulous apples, great price - Very personalised experience - the gentlemen who served my sister and I remembered us from about 1 hour ago as we came back for our second apple! Would recommend to a friend!
This morning there was a Brazilian woman. Teaching a Chinese guy how to make a sandwich.. 20 minutes waiting.. and she couldn’t understand a single word I was saying and had a very arrogant attitude.. she told me she needed a supervisor to make a sandwich?
Like every Spar I’ve been in the country, I’ve paid more than the price announced. For a 2,59€ water bottle, it costed me 2,70€. Only 10ct, but it happened every time on one item on each Spar. However, this shop closes quite late, so that’s a good thing.
Staff are generally friendly, but seem agitated during the late shifts - understandably, due to having to listen to drunk people coming in for rolls at 2am but there's a good selection here, and it's in a prime spot for eating after a night out! …
What a scuzzfest of a filthy place. Staff would completely disinterested in the thick black filth dust around till, counters and near food. No suggestion box either, just a shrug of I only work here attitude and no manager available. Coffee was good.
Review for the insomnia coffee in the spar. Bought milk asked if we could please have a empty carton coffee cup were told we needed to pay 75cents for it. Always use to stop by insomnia for coffee. Will avoid them from now on. Brand no heart at all
Deli is possibly the worst in existence for prices. Why do they not do brown rolls. And I have never seen a breakfast roll advertised with no sausages. I presume to have a sausage in your breakfast roll you have to pay some crazy individual price.
I bought a sandwich at the Deli. Ingredients didnt look fresh at all and the Brazilian girls serving the clients were really unpleasant as if they were in hell. Made me feel bad for ordering a sandwich as it was clear she didn't want to serve me.
Open all day every day, comfortably situated and decent selection of drinks (including a large beer variety!), snacks and in-house dining with donuts & coffee. If more everyday groceries and household items were available, it’d be even better.
This is much more a mini, rather than a supermarket and accordingly holds a very limited range of goods. That said service friendly and efficient and if it is just the basics you looking for, you have good chance of finding want you are after.
Shop is only focused on deli and coffee, which is convenient as you can buy your late dinner or your breakfast after getting drunk in the pubs around. 24/7 open, only few grocery shelves, almost twice the price of a regular convenience store
Very rude staff. Brazilian man with glasses working last night was horrible and rude. Staff needed to get him away from me as he was way out of order. No manager on shift and was refused by staff to talk to manager. Not a good shop.
Easy to access and a nice good size l. All items are way over what I would consider reasonable pricing from anything to a drink to a wrap. Probably better places to pick up a bottle of water in Dublin that isn’t €3
Open 24 hours every day of the week including Christmas! great for a snack, a coffee made by baristas, and at the end of the night, if you need to buy something to take home you will find everything you need there
Convenient/good location, but very crowded. Water bottles/drinks seem to be more expensive here as well. Paid 2€ for a 500ml water bottle and the saw that it was 95 ¢ for the same one at Dunnes 1 street over.
Be extremely alert at the cashier: twice there I asked for a small cashback, and in both times they "forgot" to give it to me. Once is an honest mistake, twice I find suspicious. So my advice is - be aware.
Nice food but staff making the sandwich does not seem to be very happy at work. Treating clients rudely and unkindly. Supposes that all clients have to know all the options and rules to order a sandwich.
Its good to see the shop was open during the 6 week lockdown. And they are following the government and HSE guidelines for staff and customers. Nice shop in the heart of the city. Thanks for the coffee.
Went in for the Donuts. Great selection, very tasty. Would have given a five star, only for the two female staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. Maybe having a bad day. Otherwise good.
Called in for a quick snack yesterday evening. Good place to go to except for the loud music playing all over the place. No one needs that especially if they dropping in after a days shopping.
I went there today to got my chicken baguette, was lovely the two new Girls Catering Assistant made me a nice sandwich. The new Manager Angelica (She's so good and efficient) Congratulations!
Can't say I'd been to many Spa stores before but was pleasantly surprised by the range and quality of products in store. The layout is interesting with products arranged around a central hub.
Not a good Spar. Prices are exorbitant and the deli is straight up grim. Found a long hair in my roll from there. They did at one point sell Bugles though, so they get some points for that.
Unwelcoming and extortionist pricing ..7.50 for a chicken roll with 2 salads.Roll wasn’t worth 1/4 the price as bread was stale and chicken was of poor quality. Never going in here again
Not a bad spot. The shop feels a bit grimy, and staff seem confused most of the time, but have most things you’d need. They have a decent assortment of sandwiches, and serve hot drinks.
The place to go at the end of the night! An excellent choice of food from the deli and an almost endless selection of drinks. Friendly staff as well. All this makes it must to visit.
Deli overcharges for rolls 5.50€ for ham cheese roll .. but on sticker it says chicken fillet roll with 2 extra fillings.. they should have prices up instead of making up there own
Love this shop! It is so big and spacious. I love the insomnia part and the chairs and tables so you can sit in or take away. The lady that served me coffee was very friendly.
Amazing choice of cakes, personnel too serious/not kind. They do not have beer even if Ireland is considered as a nation of beer. I doubt that Ireland is truly a land of beer.
Waiting for 15 minutes for 2 coffee while the girl serving was more interested in serving a person whom was obviously more interesting then the 4 other customers in the queue
For example, to call this place overpriced kip is a compliment... 7.50€ for chicken roll is a criminal..you walk in this place hungry and you leave still hungry and broke
Went in to get a fizzy drink and Gustavo was at the tills. He was so friendly, cheery, and efficient. Really brightened up my day. I hope he’s working next time I go.
Their hot chocolate was the best one in Dublin, but now not. I went there today with a friend thinking it'd be as good as it was, but it has changed. It's not good.
The staff here, every time we go in are exceptionally friendly. Tonight again the deli staff were nothing short of friendly and helpful. Honestly they're a credit
Really good after party place, actually if you miss some groceries its open 24 a positive point and open also during festive days like Christmas or new year.
Sharp very clean everything you need the shop is very clean beautiful Hot food area the staff are always welcome you with a hello and a smile on their face
This spar is in a perfect location in city centre. Handy for soft drinks coffee & snaks. They have a coffee dock were you can sit in Also which is handy
Better than your average Spar for this area of town. Good selection, cashier is quick enough but would prefer better selection of ready to eat foods
Staff always friendly polite towards me . I live in Dublin 2 and use this shop quite frequently for a quick snack busy but all is good and ran well.
So overpriced. Bought an orange juice and a pack of doritos and it cost nearly 9 euros. Whoever owns this shop needs put down like an elderly dog.
Nice supermarket, expensive but wide range of products, and a nice space to have your lunch you bought. Friendly girl at the register, helpfull.
I got a hot bacon roll this morning. It cost €5.50. The bread roll was stale, bacon was cremated and not hot. Went in the bin. Absolutely vile.
Excessive gouging for food such deli sandwiches available across the city. Not acceptable. Ripping off tourists and locals alike. Unpleasant.
This SPAR is perfect to find alcohol or chaser at night, very good to grab food too, late at night. Apart from this it isn't worth the visit.
A very good place located to buy groceries even after late midnight. A good variety of different foods items and groceries available here.
Good shop when you are in the Temple Bar area. Insomnia Coffee is as good as in other places. Usually enough staff to fulfill your needs.
Small and easy to accessible place where you will get almost everything for craving as well as it's open it late so you can buy anytime.
24/7 spar, asked the security guard how often they change the pile of chicken fillets he said every hour thats how much people get them
€6 for a chicken fillet roll that was disgusting. It went straight in the bin. The quarts of milk were warm to touch. Won’t be back.
The best. Gay Spar is as iconic as the George at this stage. Also their hashbrowns stop me from fainting of hunger every other day.
Paula in the Deli is an absolute pleasure to deal with, she is a credit to your company, thanks for the best wrap I've ever had. :)
Good place to buy drinks , packed food and milk products. You get things at a lower price. The place is always clean and hygienic
It gets very crowded and there aren't enough cashiers. Apart from that, it's nice that it's open 24/7 and it's well stocked.
Super convenient. The deli has some nice meals and they have a good variety/ selection of confectionery drinks, snacks etc.
A convenient location and has everything you need. However, it's ridiculously overpriced. €1.70 for a 40g bag of Doritos.
Potentially the busiest Spar in the world with a weird set up but it's convenient and sells just about everything!
Worst pricing of any Spar I've been too. Was told cheese would cost extra on a basic chicken and lettuce roll.
They have good sandwiches at the bar, for good pricing. The supermarket itself isn’t good and too expensive.
Very expensive vegan food (chickpea wrap ) 5:79 euro but free toilets so I'm happy …
Breakfast roll was not up to scratch. There has to be a shelf life for fried eggs. They were like plastic
Tow stars for the location and the seating area but the prices is double any other place in the city..
€1.30 for a pack of cigarette papers and a snotty cashier. Won’t be going back for so much as a match.
Had a coffee here tables were dirty and Homeless people asleep on chair. Shop Planagram is good though
It's a great convenience shop for drinks and snacks. Has a fresh hot drink and pastries section too.
Good coffee here. Not the best place to go at 3am though.Staff are better than normal spar staff.
