I had taken my truck to another shop (RMS) which had really high reviews, which turned out to be a total disappointment (see my review of RMS). I found Sackett Auto Repair who was recommended by The Auto Doc Repair Shop for the type of repairs I needed. I called Sackett and spoke to Omar who was professional and courteous. I explained what repairs I needed, and Omar gathered some basic information and with in the hour I had a written estimate emailed to me for the cost of the repairs. I needed a new timing chain on my 2010 Ford F150 and some other minor work so the truck would pass the annual inspection. I brought the truck in for the repairs. Omar called me back shortly and found an oil leak from the oil filter adapter plate gasket. This is were the oil filter screws on. The previous shop never mentioned this after they did an oil change, I did not need. So, I had Omar at Sackett Auto Repair include this in the repairs. The turnaround time for all repairs was 2.5 work days. Which was surprisingly fast! When the repairs were completed Omar even offered to pick me up from my home and bring me back to the shop. That was great! Made my life a whole lot easier! After paying the bill. I drove the truck home. The truck felt like it did when I bought it brand new in 2010. I could not believe how responsive it was. These guys did a great job, for a fair price. I would highly recommend them to any one who needs automotive repairs. Great job Sackett Auto Repair. Sackett is awesome! I drive a '99 Jeep Cherokee. I was recently traveling very early in the morning through Houston, on my way home to Austin, when we were run off the road by a drunk driver. We clipped the median pretty hard. Lots of undercarriage damage, and the front left wheel close to shattered. I put on the spare and mapped out the closest shop with the best reviews, which happened to be Sackett Auto Repair. So, I limped the dying Jeep over. I met with Jerry, the owner of the shop, and Omar. Both very professional and friendly guys, they expedited an inspection of my Jeep to get info out to my insurance. Front drive shaft U-joint smashed, sway bars and control arms completely wrecked, exhaust manifold cracked in two places... Long story short, my Jeep was totaled, but I had it repaired nonetheless. The guys at Sackett did a great job, and the Jeep runs better than ever. Upon pickup, I even pointed out a noise I had long dealt with, wondering if Jerry could find it out. He found and fixed in minutes what my dad and I both had been stumped by for months. My only complaint is that I don't have an Austin location to go to! Must make sure all accidents occur in Houston from now on. :) Thanks Sackett!

We have been using Sackett for decades. They were always friendly, reliable and a fair price. Unfortunately our latest experiences has forced us to find a new mechanic. About 6 months ago, we brought our vehicle in for a few repairs when we were informed that the slight shaking we were experiencing was due to the brake pads needing replacement, so we asked them to replace them. A few months later our ABS and battery needed replacing (very costly) so they preformed this repair as well. The last few weeks we noticed some sounds that seemed to be coming from the brakes so we took it back in. They informed us that the rear brake pads and now rotors need replacing. Considering we were under the impression that the brake pads had already been replaced and recently completely changed our ABS without mention of the pads, we were pretty shocked. Something we thought was fixed has now become much more costly due to the rotor replacement. Needless to say, we took our vehicle to a new mechanic for this repair and will not be returning to Sackett. Edit: Turns out the rotors did not need replacing. Makes we wonder how honest they were about the previous repairs. Very disappointing.

I work in downtown Houston and needed a reliable place to get down to the root cause of my Check Engine Light. I only had 2 days left before the end of the month to get an inspection and registration. I randomly called Sackett and told them my problem over the phone. The guy on the phone was very familiar with the engine codes I was receiving and sounded pretty confident he could fix it. They had my truck diagnosed, fixed AND inspected before I got off of work for less than $200. They even dropped me off and picked me up from work. Excellent customer service. They were very kind and not condescending. I had a calming peace when I dropped off the vehicle and didn't feel nervous thinking I would be ripped off like most auto repair places. I waited a few days to write this review, because I wanted to make sure the check engine light did not come back on. So far so good! They even fixed my A/C blower hose that needed to be adjusted. I had been riding around Houston in a hot car, not knowing it was a simple fix. These guys are great, honest and reputable!

Called for an appointment to have the 2003 Dodge caravan evaluated. Went in the next day and left it with Jerry. Called me later in the day. Went over the items. Last but definitely not the least of the issues was the transmission. Jerry: i cant say when its gonna go but its gonna go. Me: i can fix all the items but it may very well turn into a money pit? Jerry: yeah, pretty much. Drive it into the ground. Me: ok thanks, ill come get it. When i arrived, Jerry and i had a great conversation - have similar life experiences. We bonded to the point he actually felt comfortable asking me if i would consider getting married again (to a woman ). . I asked how much do i owe you. Jerry: does $95 sound fair. Me: you tell me, it’s your time. Jerry: i didn’t make any repairs, i just wanna be fair. Me: I could’ve hugged him but we didn’t bond that much. Sackett Auto is a good place. Literally, they know anyone that walks into this shop by name even if you think your job is to small for them to remember you. I have been coming to Omar and jerry for 5 years now and I've neverrrrrrr experienced such clean mechanic shop, professional personal, and men that are so detail oriented . If you're looking for a mechanic you know these words I'm writing are rare. This guys take their jobs very seriously and precisely. Idc how far I am with car issues. I'm waiting getting towed to them and to them only. They work as a team so everyone is on the same page about progress of your vehicles needs. I'm actually bummed out that I didn't think to leave a review years ago but I've never left one before so it was only right my boys at Sackett got the first one! My Mercedes is with them as I write this. I miss it but I know it's in good hands and it will be perfect unlike how I dropped it off when I pick it up. Thank you guys!

Similar to another reviewer below.. in the beginning service seemed decent but than I kept getting told that my issue is not what I was really told initially by this shop and that I just need a new part to fix the problem which they had days to troubleshoot. I had the same experience last time I was at this shop. I was charged a $130 diagnosis fee and left with my car worse off than before (my subwoofer ceased to function all together.. It was working intermittently before). I tried to contact the shop after leaving, just to get some more information about my issue and I was completely ignored. Seems like the motto here is to charge customers high diagnosis fee and then just tell them they need a "new part". Went to another shop and got my issue resolved in less than an hour without the need to buy any new parts whatsoever. Bad workmanship and horrible customer service!

My review comes with a story. Upon 2013 Christmas break I drove my Saab 9-3 to Houston while it was apparently leaking oil the whole ride in. It took about three starts to get it to Sackett Auto Repair (located on Austin St.) Jerry, called me to give me the bad news. I blew the engine!!! Not only did the guys keep an open line of communication and try to visit multiple salvage yards to find a great price for the replacement, they even DROVE MY CAR BACK TO AUSTIN AS A COURTESY and let me use an extra Shop vehicle to get home and back to work. Without their excellent customer service and wonderful caring attitudes this bad situation could of been a lot worse. A million Thank you to Jerry and Omar. You guys are awesome.

In the beginning service seemed great but spent to many times in there it felt like a revolving door as many times I was in there never fixed the problem even after putting another motor. The motor they put had bad turbos ,needed new motor mounts that I think they should of replace but didn't etc these guys kept giving me excuses had to go somewheres else and now I never have problems with my vehicle their excuse was these cars are like that. Also the motor these guys put was for a 335 not a 535i motor why I know this is because the turbos are position differently on each of the motors so either these guys knew what they sold or just didn't know regardless I would never go back or recommend anyone

Omar is the epitome of great customer service. Trustworthy and a real value. I contacted Sackett because my niece's Jeep Grand Cherokee's rear view mirror had disengaged from her windshield. We needed a same-day fix. Omar was so helpful on the phone, I knew he would solve our problem. When the first adhesive his mechanic tried failed, Omar called a friend at the Chevy dealer to asked for advice. The mechanic at the car dealer recommended a special adhesive that they used. We were in a hurry to get back on the road and Omar volunteered to pick up the adhesive for us on his lunch hour. We grabbed a bite to eat and returned to Sackett where the new adhesive was applied. Mission accomplished!

About a year ago I was having problems with my car turning over. I thought it was the starter so I purchased a new starter and took it to Sackett to have it installed. After Jerry reviewed my truck (06 F150) he said that I needed a new flywheel installed; they also recommended the new starter be installed at the same time. I agreed and they installed the new flywheel and turnaround time was quick. The price was fair for the work performed. They gave me a 1 year warranty on the parts and labor and now 1 year later I am not having any issues so I am happy to leave the review. My truck is old so I would definitely go back here first if I have any more trouble.

I had taken my vehicle to Sackett Auto Repair for a broken connector in the clutch linkage. They diagnosed and repaired it in a matter of a couple days. The same was true for a faulty blower motor, which they honored the warranty for when it was making errant noise. But the real plus was when I brought my car in at a later date thinking my clutch was going bad (which would be a costly repair) at which point they test drove it and diagnosed it as something much less expensive and that I was able to repair myself. That goes to show a great deal of honesty and it is greatly appreciated as a customer! -Sam

After a prior mechanic diagnosed my car, they didn’t put it back together right and my car started running very poorly. I took it to the skilled mechanics here and they took their time diagnosing and troubleshooting the problem. They didn’t fix the problem because it turned out to be more serious than what I can afford but they did put it back together the correct way and my car started running like it used to. Thank you guys so much for getting me back in the car of my dreams. Highly recommended for their attention to detail and lots of car knowledge.

Absolutely BEST customer service I’ve experienced at a mechanic in years. Thorough work. Honest and up front about that I needed and what was optional. I had them work on my dad’s truck after it made its way to me when he passed way; I was nervous about the extent of work it might need and the cost. Not only were they competitively priced, the repairs were timely and there were no hidden costs or gotchas. Bonus: They were so kind about working on his truck under such sad circumstances. Highly recommend!

This man was selling a car so I went up there to look at the car and test drive it he walked off and said I don't have time to wait without explaining the car to me he don't have time to wait he said you have time when it's someone else's money I would not ever recommend anyone buying anything from them because if you don't have time to explain the car if something gets broke you don't have time to fix it if i could put zero i would his name was eddie very nasty man and i dont see how this place is open

I spent over $600 and had him fix a noise I found in my AC only to have my check engine light come on two weeks later after getting it out, when I called him about it he just basically told me that there's nothing he can do and didn't understand how hard it was for me to put it back in, after I told him everything should have been fixed. He made it clear he wouldn't do anymore work for free and he didn't care. I'm livid.. it's hot, and I trusted him as a single mother with no male input!

A few years ago the dealership had my car a week and couldn't find out why my A/C blower fan wasn't working, they wanted to change out the whole wire harness for $1500, I said no and went to this shop, In less than 2 hours, they found a disconnected ground wire coming from the fan motor, fixed it . And more recently put on a catalytic converter and O2 sensors I had already bought and now the car has passed inspection... Thank you Sackett auto repair and Jerry Guerrero

Rafael is the best, most responsive, most knowledgeable and friendly mechanic we've ever worked!!! He doesn't waste your time and will only tell you to bring in your vehicle in when he has time to work on it. He has done wonders repair my husband's classic cars when all others failed us and they charged a ridiculous price. He's rate have been very reasonable, even less than we would expect at time. We trust him with all of our vehicle repairs.

I've been going to Sackett Auto for many, many years and a couple of locations. I only go to the one Jerry's at on Austin Street. Jerry was service manager at a different shop. After a change of ownership he opened his own shop. Most of the mechanics and staff went with him. As a woman I appreciate Jerry and Omar his service manager. They are always ready to explain in layman terms everything that needs to be done. His prices are always fair

I had some minor repair work done recently on my wife's car. Brought it in at lunch time and the part was delivered and the car fixed before close. Also I was having an issue with the mirror on my car that I'm sure a dealership would have gouged me for, but their mechanic took a quick look at it and fixed it right there on the spot. Didn't even charge me for it. These guys are very friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

These guys are awesome . Took my car to get the struts replaced and it was done quickly and quoted me less than ny nechanics ive been using for years . Noticed a small problem while they were down there and offered to fix it with no labor costs because they were already down there . Truely standup guys and would reccomend them to anyone. Very nice man, Omar I think was his name, at the front desk. I had to have my AC checked out, a valve replaced and refilled Freon and it was $140. I felt the price was reasonable and they were very helpful and explained everything along the way. I will definitely be back for other truck maintenance.

The place appears like a low-end shop, but it's one of the best repair shops near downtown. I delivered my car and they gave me a ride to work. Extremely friendly staff, good repair work, and good rates. Maybe on the higher side with regard to the cost, but overall it seems worth it.
