Cruddy admin systems but good customer service. Updating a previous review following resolution of issues. Had problems with erroneous price hikes during my stay (upped 60% mid-term due to a room size mix up). I should have noticed the increase but as I didn't, ended up paying considerably more per month for half a year. Half of the overpayments are going to be refunded which was probably a fair compromise, given Safestore did apparently send notification of the price increase (which I didn't see) and prices were going up a bit anyway. Check your own records / bank statements carefully and have a clear idea of how much you will get back/owe upon checkout! Safestore admin systems seem in need of an overhaul as there's at least one further issue I know of: an extra monthly charge is wrongly debited upon checkout. This is refunded if you complain but watch out for it as it might look like a payment in arrears. Why 4 stars? The local team (Lex) is responsive, flexible and willing to have an open dialogue about any issues such as this which goes a long way - no dismissive cold shoulder. Opening hours at Stoke Newington could be better and parking is limited but countering that it is very conveniently located in a built up area, not out in the sticks. Also, the facility is well staffed, dry and clean.

Initially I chose safestore for a combination of discounted price and location proximity. The booking and check-in could be sleeker if all online (no need for phone calls and emails) but nothing major. It was helpful to speak to someone and ask questions actually. Few months down the line and the price went up (no more discount), as expected. Unfortunately, the prices went up AGAIN and even if I moved to a new unit, I could not benefit from the initial 8-week discount. Clearly there is high demand for storage units at the moment and they are taking advantage of the situation. I would have normally stayed there for longer but the sudden price jump put me off, so I moved out at short notice. Nearly £200 for storage is just too much for a tiny space!! I can rent a whole flat in Europe for this money. Who knows what the prices will be in a few months time... Also there is lots of activity but only space to park two vans/cars at a time, and just one lift. So it can take a lot longer to move in or out. Other than that, my stuff was safely stored for 7 months no issues there.

BEWARE THEY ARE RUDE & WILL SCAM YOU HERE. Disgusting customer service from the staff today, conned me out of extra days despite me booking & paying for a specific time. I urge everyone to ask these con artists to be extremely clear with you UPFRONT about the hidden fees and complicated ‘notice’ period you have to give them. If you don’t specifically say what date you plan to remove your belongings - 14 days beforehand - they will charge you for extra days despite removing your stuff. Even though I had done this (with exactly 14 days notice) and paid for it, and I even collected my things a day early.. they still charged me for another 2 days. When I tried to correct them, they threatened me with debt collectors. Nice one Safestore. Way to build a reputation.

I dealt with staff over the phone only who were helpful and friendly. My husband and son took his belongings and found the process straightforward. My only quibble would be with the paperwork requested which became a bit of a chore. I had to make a few phone calls to ensure I was sending the right thing but the staff were always helpful. Description of size of container would be clearer ( the measurements given are for floor area but the website doesn’t give height which is just over 6 feet).

Excellent service, thank you! I call them on a Wednesday evening just before closure because my builders just let me know they wanted to take my furniture out of the house on Thursday. Although I wasn't in London myself we could do all the paperwork over the phone and online, and on Thursday morning my builders moved the furniture into the Safestore. I'm very grateful to the team of Safestore, in particular Yogi, who arranged for everything.

My time spent with Safestore Stoke Newington has been smooth and stress free minus me forgetting my code to my lock( silly me), which the manager was able to assist me in solving the problem. The staff are friendly, welcoming and so helpful. They listened and assisted me whenever I needed help. This has been my second time in 7 years using them. Thank you so much. I’m grateful!!!!

Great experience! Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in getting me the right unit for good value. Then when I needed to move in a day earlier than the contract, they were flexible and made it work. Even better, they recommended an excellent removal man Ossie, who was fantastic! I’ll definitely be working with him again if I need anything mored. Definitely recommended!

Efficient service from the team here in Stoke Newington. Jelena in the office was friendly and helpful and put me in touch with the fantastic Ossie who helped me move after the terrible Van Plus left me stranded. Ossie (and Ruben) were quick and gave me a great mini-history of Hackney lesson on the way!

It's my first time moving so many items and using a storage and they have been very helpful with the process and also the recommendation for great a removal service. It is also very 'safe' and secure as they go through a lot of identification at beginning. I'm planning to use it for the long term.

Staff are friendly but really not impressed that I had to move my entire house up 20 stairs (around 50 trips) because the lift was broken….cost me much more as the removal driver was on an hourly rate.

Good customer service that is why i'm giving a three but other than that it was a total waste of my money, i've had loads of problems with my storage like water leaks and some of my stuffs were damaged

Overall very good experience with Safestore. Only four stars because of the cost, but for a central storage facility in Hackney it would be hard to beat this place. And excellent staff too.

It is not a cheapest place. They work generally from 8-6. [But], it is high street location. The welcome service was outstanding, quick, professional and clear. Please, award my host.
