I visited Pokhara for 3 days during a 3 week trip to Nepal August 2018 per a recommendation from my friend in Khatmandu. I booked a hotel and did not plan my stay in Pokhara beyond that. The tour packages at the hotel were very expensive so I decided to walk into town to find a tour agency. After stopping at a few less than impressive tour agencies I stumbled upon Safeways Holiday Tours and Travel. I was greeted by the owner Santosh and was immediately impressed by his friendliness, professionalism and positive attitude. I booked a paragliding trip through him that was half the price of the hotel. Santosh made me tea and I met some of his family. I was served with genuine hospitality. It was dark by then so I decided to leave. I was pleasantly surprised to have Santosh drive me back to my hotel. The paragliding trip the next day was delayed a few hours due to weather conditions. Santosh kept in constant contact with me and picked me up at the hotel and brought me to the paragliding office. We had lunch and he recommended some clothing shops where I made some purchases while waiting. The paragliding trip was amazing. I was so impressed I inquired about tours of Pokhara as my hotel had some packages available. Santosh listened to my interests and designed a tour that was outstanding. I visited 4 major attractions with a personal escort through Pokhara on his motorcycle. The ride and views were amazing and Santoosh was an excellent guide. These are memories I will carry for a lifetime. Santosh ended the tour with presenting me with a CD of my paragliding trip and booked a deluxe tour bus for my return to Pokhara. He arranged for his cousin Ganesh to take me to the hotel after an amazing and memorable evening. He even arranged a taxi to take me to the bus station the next morning. His outstanding customer service continued as he contacted me later to make sure I was safe and satisfied upon returning to Kathmandu. If you visit Pokhara or anywhere in Nepal for that matter, contact Santosh at Safeway Holiday tours and travels. I found a knowledgable, kind and professional guide and a true friend. You will too! We took 3days trekking tour. I heard “if we cannot walk down the departure place at the last day, you have to pay extra money for jeep” At the last day, guide asked me “Do you wanna go down with Jeep from here” I answered “it’s fine, we can walk down” But finally before we get to the departure place, he told me”it’s too late, there is no Jeep at the start point” The point is we had to choose the extra option anyway. We argued with a little. I told him “We didn’t get any guides from you” he answered “that’s right. I started working as a guide one month ago. So you cannot get it.” (It’s like no conversation, no cheers, no explanation, just walking around us) Finally we took the local bus & taxi from near the departure point instead of Jeep. He payed for it, but in the taxi he is talking with the driver about complaints for us. I know depends on guides. But I cannot recommend here. Not professional. His name is probably Harry.

Sometimes finding a trustworthy local tour agency is difficult for us backpackers. I stumbled upon Safeways after being disappointed with the arrangements of two other agencies. Santosh the owner was easygoing and took the time to cater to my needs, helping me to set up an itinerary that works with my tight schedule. The paragliding cost also was the most reasonable out of all of them. Overall it was very fortunate and a pleasant experience for me to be able to find a tour agency which seamlessly took care of all the trekking and outdoor activities during my time in Pokhara.

I had an excellent experience with this tour guide in Pokhara. Dhakaram was incredibly helpful during our mini trek. He is also able to customize a trek that will work with your age and fitness level which is really nice. I recommend scheduling a trip or trek with Dhakaram.

Santosh helped me organize a 3 days trip in Pokhara in August and the way back to KTM. He’s very helpful and resourceful, always stays and touch and make sure you’re safe and happy. The rest of the staff is also very competent (Kumari, lady guide).
