Had a really awful and unprofessional experience here. Never been a negative reviewer before, but this was uniquely terrible. Booked a double process here and was really excited based on the positive reviews. But the stylist processed my hair once, starting from the roots instead of the ends. The stylist rushed so much there was bleach splattered all over my cape. My roots ended up white with the rest of my hair ending up bright yellow. I asked for a slightly shorter cut for my long hair and had several inches taken off so my hair is now above shoulder length. My hair is bright white/yellow and extremely damaged- the photos don't do it justice, it looks like it was bleached at home with no toner at all. I booked a color correction within 24 hours as soon as I saw the highlighter yellow color and texture of my hair after a shower. Super disappointed with the $450+ I spent here. Worst of all, my stylist talked to me in a whisper about the client next to me, saying how she came in all the time and was destroying her hair. He also told me how he doesn’t like most clients doing double process and laughed about how he lies to them about liking their color. I found the whole conversation remarkably uncomfortable and unprofessional and, to be honest, wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I reached out to let the salon know what happened, and their response was essentially “no, you were happy with the results, hope you understand.” No one even called back, just sent an email. Super disappointing experience all around.

I want to preface this by saying I’ve been going to Salon V for years, but given my most recent experience, I will be finding a new salon in the city. Recently, I was paired with a new stylist to do a balayage touch up last minute because my normal stylist was booked. The salon informed me that he was an expert stylist, charges more, and my stylist will be communicating with him regarding color preferences etc. Just for a little background, I have brown hair and therefore my balayage is usually pretty soft and subtle. Thus, you can understand why I was a little alarmed when my hair came out bright blonde at the end, but even then I figured why not try something new. It wasn’t until I came home and looked closer at the quality was I deeply concerned and do not think it reflects the $400+ service that one would expect to receive at your salon. The balayage is not subtle whatsoever, looks streaky, and doesn’t even blend in with my natural hair color (see pictures attached during the color correction process at another salon). After this situation, I sent an email to the salon informing them of this, not asking for my money back, but simply to inform them of this ordeal thinking they would at least apologize. I still have not received any word from the salon, which frankly is the most disappointing aspect and is why I will not be returning.

Love Salon V. You kinda can't go wrong there. There have been times when my favorite stylists have not been available and I'll see another staff member. Everyone I've seen there has had great skills and 'hair-side manner'. I always come away feeling happier and lighter. I know that's because my hair looks great, but it's also the vibe in there. Very relaxed and welcoming. The same cannot be said for other NY salons. I once went to a different super high-end salon in NYC, and literally cried because of the way the place was run. You can feel good management, and I have appreciated it for many years at Salon V. Highly recommend!!

I got referred to Salon V (and Vernelle in particular) by a friend approximately a decade ago and I have been going to Vernelle ever since. I loved her cuts so much, I went without when she was out on maternity leave! I would not let anyone else touch my hair! She is a magician with hair. I have had everything from a solid espresso short bob to long multi-color highlighted layers and each cut has earned me compliments from total strangers! Her staff are all kind, professional, and caring. And the salon is super clean and very classy. I cannot say enough good things about my experience there.

Meg is amazing!!! I’ve been coming to Salon V for 13+ years now. I moved to Long Island 3.5 years ago and STILL make the trip to downtown NYC to see Meg. It’s definitely not convenient but worth it . Over the years, I’ve gotten married (Meg did my wedding hair, too!) and became a parent. One of my favorite Meg moments is when I was a new mom and needed to pump during a hair appointment. Meg set me up near an outlet in the back and even turned on a heat lamp so I wouldn’t get cold! She is a true gem. This place is the best for cuts and color and Meg is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was lucky to find this place soon after they moved to this space and have been going ever since. I’ve had a great experience with all the stylists, but especially so with the amazing Ellen and Stephanie. It’s a beautiful and welcoming space. Glad I found my go to hair place after lots of misses around the neighborhood. I had to move away about two years ago and came back while I was in town for a weekend because I hadn’t found anyone. Now I’ve relocated back and am so happy to be able to go back regularly.

First time coming to Salon V a few weeks ago, and I loved the decor and the spacious layout. My stylist Rieko is amazing. She has a great sense of style and design, and the artistry necessary to make those ideas come to life. Years ago she has saved me from a wedding day hair disaster (haircut gone bad by another stylist), and I have been her loyal follower ever since. If you are looking to get a haircut that will bring you compliments day after day, I would definitely recommend her as your stylist!

Salon V is a beautiful Salon and the staff is professional and very knowledgeable. My stylist, Vernelle, gave me tips how to style my hair for work as a flight attendant so that it is slicked back off the face and the hair stays sleek and doesn’t get dry and frizzy. Since then, it’s been a polished look. Also, when I wear my hair down and loose, she taught me how to blow dry my bangs and work with the cowlick. I walk in with bed head and walk out feeling like a million bucks!!!!

I came here to get a bob haircut for my two textured hair — I have curly hair on top of my head and straight hair close to my neck. The hairstylist Melanie did a great job in adding layers and movement to the curls on the top part of my head, but the bottom straight layer came out lopsided. After trying to style it for about a week I gave up and took some kitchen scissors to the bottom to even it out. Given this was a $180 cut with tip, I don’t think it was worth the money.

Love the salon. The staff is friendly and courteous. My stylist Maria is fabulous. Had been going to a salon for years and went to Salon V to get the Cezanne treatment that my salon didn’t offer. After that great experience I never turned back. The Kevin Murphy color is fantastic and got me off of dye with peroxide and ammonia. I am totally sold on Salon V. Great products, great service, reasonable prices…what more could you ask for!!

My partner and I went to Salon V on the recommendation of her sister. We both have long hair and wanted to donate some while still having a good look. Stephanie B did us and we were very happy with our new do! She and the rest of the staff were super nice and kept the salon very clean. As a guy I did not feel awkward being in a salon and enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend Salon and Stephanie B for your next cut and style.

I came in as a walk-in for a quick haircut. I was immediately taken in by Darisa and how! I loved her perspective on what would look good for my face while prioritizing my likes and dislikes. My hair truly came alive when she was done with it, not to mention my mood did too! Without any haste, I booked another appointment with her. Such a convenient location, too! Looking forward to some more psycho-hair-apy real soon!

Ellen was incredibly helpful when my 11 year old son knew he wanted a new haircut but had no idea what exactly he wanted. He went with a big change and loved it. The cut was a great suggestion and expertly executed. In addtion she showed him how to use a little product for a better effect. She coached him in a next step in teenage self care that he definitely wasn’t going to learn from me!

Wonderful salon! I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored by Vernelle for many, many years. She and her staff have exceptional experience and importantly, they are patient, thoughtful and kind. I moved to the Mountain Time Zone several years ago and still get my haircut and color here whenever I can. It is always a highlight of my visits to NYC to see Vernelle and her team. I ❤️ Salon V!

The experience here is wonderful. They greet you when you first come in and ask if they can get you something to drink/ Mariah who washed my hair was amazing . She went well beyond what a normal hair washing would be . And Meg, the owner who cuts my hair always spends so much time with me to get my hair looking perfect. I have been a client at Salon V for years and wouldn’t go anywhere else! Meg is fantastic— all the stylists are great. We went there on my wedding day and all my bridesmaids looked gorgeous. I’ve been getting my hair color and cuts done here for almost two years, and every stylist I’ve had has been excellent, seriously addressed my concerns, truly followed what I wanted, and given great advice. My fantastic dark red color gets compliments all the time, fades evenly and looks good even when my roots grow out. Great atmosphere, great price.

Salon V is a treat. Ellen has managed my aging hair for going on 20 years. She is just wonderful, always personal and attentive and coming up with creative solutions for problems and ways to keep things fresh. The staff is unfailingly pleasant and helpful. I've referred my sister and friends and they have had the same experience.

Vernelle’s coloring and hair styling skills are second to none. She understands both hair and scalp issues, as well as color issues and always has a solution to our many problems. Our entire family gets serviced by her (gloss, highlight, low light, base, cuts, blow outs) and we cannot imagine going anywhere else!

I always feel welcome the moment I walk into Salon V. The staff is lovely and the quiet elegance of the salon is relaxing. And, of course , I can't say enough for my hair dresser, Valerie, who does a beautiful job with my hair styling an who listens when one has specific requests. I highly recommend Salon V.

Best color by Heather! I was just visiting NYC and happened to need a partial highlight. Heather really knows what she’s doing when it comes to color. I highly recommend this salon! It’s pretty pricey for this gal from California, but it was well worth the price.

I have been seeing James for 5 and a half years. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him!!! I was told by a couple of friends in the beginning that he is good with blondes. He does FABULOUS color!! He is soooo talented - and a lovely guy to boot! I cannot recommend him enough.

I’ve gone here for years and like their haircuts, although it’s so expensive. The lady at the front desk could work on her attitude. If you’re going to charge $150 for a 30 min haircut, customers expect premium service.
