City government office
"The absolute worst organization that I’ve ever worked with… hands-down"

"badass place compared to other cities, i see people complaining tax dollars"
The absolute worst organization that I’ve ever worked with… hands-down. I can’t believe how inefficient things are here. There’s a massive problem with miscommunication and somebody needs to get it fixed as soon as possible. Documents are always uploaded incorrectly and employees there handout misinformation like it’s candy. With how many people they talk to on a given day, rather than actually trying to fix each issue they just say whatever sounds good so they can move onto the next person. I never been more frustrated with anyone or anything in my entire life and it’s honestly made me rethink wanting to do business here.
If I had a dollar for every time this place had my information wrong and wasted my time, I'd still be out thousands of dollars for all the time they've wasted. It takes me an average of three trips here to pull a permit, though I have all my paperwork in hand. Today, they had my number printed wrong on my contractor's ID, and have apparently lost the copy of a form I submitted two years ago which was a waiver signed by a customer. Now I get to go back to my office and dig through two year old files to find a copy, then come back tomorrow. I would give zero stars if I could. Ladies and gentlemen, your tax dollars at work.
Unfortunately this place doesn't hire the brightest people; every time I have to go there I know they will waste my time and do things incorrectly. What should take no more than 10 minutes, takes them several days to complete. In many cases I have to deal with several people because (although they all work at the same office), they have a single person / department for every little thing you need to do. And Bernie wants the government to take over our Healthcare system !!! Now way Jose !!!
Code enforcement needs to get it together. Always changing up their system and requirements. On average I wait 30-45 min to even speak to the lady in that department. Like today, she is just sitting there socializing with everyone and can’t call my number. I asked the front desk girl if she’s free and she said she “‘must be finishing up with a previous customer.” Highly doubt that. Completely unacceptable. All this wait just to pick up a permit.
badass place compared to other cities, i see people complaining tax dollars...blah blah blah, that joke is old. im pretty sure these people work their assess off. by the way did u obtain your permit? that's probably why ur on fire. if you want to complain attend the commission meetings and participate like a san antonio resident. stop crying and show respect they are providing quality service.
Got a code enforcement VOO stating “remove toilet paper from driveway” while we were UNLOADING GROCERIES. We thought it must be a joke…I have a 3 day old baby and can’t run back and forth outside like I used to, but I’m certainly not about to leave a giant TP package outside for long. I just can’t believe our tax dollars are wasted on total nonsense like this, it’s absolutely absurd.
Elias placed a Stop Work Order. Instead of providing a solution he just told me I will have to figure out how to get the permits on my own. That is poor customer service for someone who is trying to better their community and help the neighbors in that area, by taking an ugly torn down house, and improving it. This is a very pathetic way of conducting business.
To be honest, it was the first public service place that I felt comfortable and being welcomed. Everyone was smiling while talking to me. They were very helpful. They were ways better than other places that offer public service. I appreciated their service and I am glad and hope that other public service provider will take this one as a model.
They Do a great job here. They just went through an entire system change to better serve us. We need to be a bit more patient. They even have an app which you can log into to skip the line. The DSD has been helpful with all of our projects and provide quality service. Just my experience.. Nothing More, Nothing Less.
Terrible service, hard to get ahold of. When finally patched through to someone, she was very rude and short with words. Didn't explain problem at all, then hung up. Unprofessional and displeasing. (Also saw nothing but bad reviews for the past year) time for new management? New hires? Somethings gotta change.
I see why ppl are always upset with city services! No professionalism, no manners n they act like they own you. Everyone has a different answer if they even have one. They will not directly help you until you start acting like them. This includes the inspectors. Nobody cares about being polite n doing a job.
Best service ever. Guy who helped us was on phone guiding step by step. Never had any city do this for our company for as long as we've been in business. Took time to make sure all was understood etc. Very grateful for these type employees who go above and beyond. Thanks
waited on hold for 45 min. .. never answered .. and was disconnected .. this is not a good situation. City changed its system in the middle of a pandemic with a reduced staff .. no one ..NO ONE .. answers the phone .. leadership should be reprimanded .. horrible service
City Development Services and the people who work there are great! I prefer in person to online services because I always get what I need done quickly and efficiently. If you have trouble or a process seems slow (not my experience), go in person. You'll be glad you did.
I just really wish to know right now where ms Silvia chief building inspector is have called her for an hour and no one can help me with the issue that I have right no not tomorrow not next week now somebody needs to be at the office that can assist me now !!!!
Parking SUCKS. Had to get there by 3. Arrived at 2:45. Was 10 minutes late. No parking signs in all directions. Parking lot is full of employee cars and city cars. There’s a lot across the street, but it was full too. City vehicles should be parked somewhere else.
It's Monday, but no one is answering the phone. The strike team inspector will not call you back. They will fine contractors for not pulling a permit, but when you are trying to pull a permit, they won't return your call. No professionalism or customer service.
I have ZERO complaints. They are incredibly helpful. The permitting processes through these people is very simple. They are very hands on. This is a review of the Capital Improvements Project. Shout-out to Adriana Goetz and Ricardo Espinoza! They are great!
Long wait times, rude staff and not helpful at all when trying to find out what the city expects!!!! Very unhappy with the services they provide or not provide!!! When you do finally speak to someone they act as if your bothering them!!!!!!
Absolutely travesty what this office and it’s employees are doing to Mega Vape. 0 out of 10 stars. Will never recommend. We will specifically be looking for Michael Shannon’s resignation or his immediate termination when the dust settles.
I called 311 BEFORE going to get a garage sale permit asking what I would need. I was told I just needed my ID. I told 311 that my address did not match the sale address, so would I need anything else and I was told no. After waiting for
Very disappointed in the service . Long wait times, no one to help, been a contractor for several years and I’ve never experienced such a thing. Can’t blame everything on Covid. They changed their system without any support or help.
My first event in dealing with a non-profit association and food vendors. Cathy (Food Sanitation Supervisor) was very helpful and the food inspector on the date of event, was very professional and informative.
Historical Home Specialist certification by City of SA Office of Preservation Great, informative educational series to Restore SA's treasured historic homes. #HistoricSA #RemodelSA #RestoreSA
Been working on our house since December, haven't had any issues with the city permitting process, except that the flippers buying up our historic neighborhood don't care to follow it.
Trying to get a permit for a second meter on duplexes for 4 months and they don't know what the hell they are doing being there over 10 times and still no permit …
Worst place in San Antonio. As usual with any government office, it is poorly ran. Exceptionally long wait times, unmotivated and unfriendly staff. Our tax dollars hard at work.
Terrible terrible terrible service and they are using our hard earned money to pay themselves. Never return calls. Long waits. On hold for an hour then they ring off. Awful!!!
The rezoning commission is a joke when it comes to opposing any rezoning situation. Don't waste your time going down to the meetings no one knows how to say no.
Any questions about starting your food related businesses question are answered. Friendly staff /ample parking. It just took around 30 minutes.
It's a place where you can get permits from yard sale to food trucks and to build something in your property or a business
Everyone in the building seems to like their job, it shows, in how they do it. Really great people. Thanks for the help.
Nobody answered the phone. Try to email and called and keave voice message but nobody return the call. Very frustrated!
Can't get a hold of anyone. Been on hold for multiple hours for two consecutive days and still can't a hold of anyone.
The design of the building says it all: a short, fat structure designed for access exclusively by car.
Fast and easy to get my license and permits renewed. I recommend to go early in the morning. No lines
Extremely well organized city services in San Antonio. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable.
Operator Roland was no help. He answered in a pessimistic tone whenever I asked a question.
Online Garage sale permit link is broken. Property search results finds 0 results.
Was late for meeting but staff was warm and friendly helping me with my concerns
Phone number on both Google and the City website is incorrect
Great setup. Can get most things done at one place.
