San Jose's mayor does not “have our back”. Mayor Liccardo believes that it is completely reasonable to cherry-pick what laws should be enforced. What would happen if constituents decided that they could cherry-pick what laws to follow? He does not feel that local police should help federal authorities. What would happen if a major crime occurred in San Jose and federal authorities decided that they did not need to help the local police? Maybe attracting and retaining officers is not simply a matter of money. Morale suffers under weak leadership. "Mayor Sam" proudly broadcast his defiance for the law and yet made no mention of the officers who were nearly murdered last 11/13/16. These are priorities I cannot understand.

Come back and visit family multiple times a year, and every time am more disgusted by the dirtiness and complete lack of safety in a city where you could once walk down the street with no fear. Gangs and homeless run amok! The streets and buildings are filthy! There are no more beautiful places! Stop hoarding the money that the taxpayers of San José are giving you, and start cleaning up this city! It’s no wonder business and good middle class people are moving away. Why pay the outrageous prices for housing if you’re going to be harassed and live in a dirty city? Once so proud of San José and the Bay Area and am now ashamed, as you should be! Absolutely horrified!

This "mayor"allows lawless criminals in his community to assault innocent Americans exercising their constitutional right to participate in a United States election. His police stood by and watched women, the elderly and men being chased down and physically attacked by thugs, all with this man's blessing. He then condemned the attacks while still blaming the presidential candidate and his supporters for inciting the illegal attacks simply for exercising their 1st amendment rights. This is NOT the American way and this man is a disgrace to the office he holds. It's time to take America back.

Has anyone seen the encampment off of Coleman. They're actually building a fort surrounding the whole place. Obviously this is against building codes etc etc etc but nobody's enforcing it. are you going to wait till there's an encampment so large there's nothing you can do and so big they will be able to protect themselves from inside. This will potentially risk the well-being of not only themselves but the police. get on it mayor, do something about it. I voted to keep you in office. Don't disappoint us. Plan the work, work the plan .. it's not hard!

You, sir, are a despicable excuse for a mayor! You tell your police officers to stand down while violent protests rage outside of a political rally? You obviously adhere to the strictest of left wing radical ideologies. A true mayor, or leader of any kind, would have had the police secure the area before any of this could take place. I will NOT be coming to San Jose any time soon! My money will be better spent elsewhere!

There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice! Sam Liccardo, you should offer a public apology for telling officers to stand down at the Trump protest, then you should resign! You're a disgrace to the city! Set up a permanent homeless encampment and bring the services to them. The cost would be minuscule, compared to what you have given Google.
