We stayed here one night to catch a plane the next morning. The front desk staff were friendly enough but not as welcoming as some other hotels we've stayed at. The room was okay - a bit dingy feeling and our room had this huge free standing closet sitting right in the entrance to the bed and desk area - we couldn't roll our large suitcase past the closet to the room, not enough space - we had to lift the suitcase up and carry it to the room which seemed weird to us - they could have designed the room a little better. It appeared the closet was an afterthought to the room. The air conditioner was noisy and the temperature was hard to adjust. It pretty much kept us up most of the night with trying to adjust the temperature in the room. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean, but for the cost of the room, there are better hotels to stay in the same price range. The best part of the hotel, is Denny's Restaurant attached. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast the next morning. This is the best Denny's we've ever tried in our travels - kudos to the kitchen staff! They also serve beer and wine which was a nice bonus. The Chop restaurant/bar was nicely decorated and was crowded but after looking over the menu at the prices of drinks and meals, we left and went into Denny's instead and was very pleasantly surprised at the great quality of liquor and meal prices. We were supposed to stay another night on the way back from our destination but cancelled the room and stayed elsewhere for the same price and much higher standards of hotel.

Close to the airport, we stayed here because we had a ridiculously early morning flight. We booked a jacuzzi room, which increases my expected relative standard. It had an entrance/living room/kitchenette space, then doors to the bedroom/jacuzzi (with the ensuite attached off the bedroom). They really should have ventilation fans above the jacuzzi - not great airflow, got a bit humid, but at least we could run the A/C at the same time. It took a long time to fill up because we couldn't properly adjust the water temperature - to get the most water flow, the water was automatically HOT (we're talking ~110F); to get more reasonable temps (below 104) the flow dropped significantly. I didn't realize this at first, so it was mostly filled with far too hot water, and we had to drain some and supplement with cool water from the kitchen sink to speed up the temperature balancing process. The decor was rather plain overall. They don't use scent-free detergents, but it was manageable and we got decent sleep. The beds were comfortable enough. We'd probably skip the jacuzzi room next time, but it was a decent overall experience.

I booked a room with the jacuzzi back in July of this year for October. The price was $230.00 plus tax for a night. I booked it for my husbands birthday as we wanted to stay somewhere luxurious and disconnect for a night. When we head out of town, we usually stay at Sandman. We arrived at the hotel and the gentlemen at the front were nice. I inquired about a discount and they advised that since I booked so early, I have a better price than the VIP customers. When my husband and I got to the room, we were very disappointed. For the price point, the room was not worth it. It was very outdated. There was a part of the shower that was not finished. Cleanliness was okay. There were no sandals or robes as you might expect when paying a price like this. The jacuzzi was nice but needed the jets to be cleaned. Quietness was okay but whoever was above us was making noise throughout the night so we kept waking up. I’m not sure if we would ever come back.

Staff was excellent. Friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and clean. You can tell the walls are thicker for noise cancellation and its difficult to hear anyone above you because of the same attention to sound proofing. The pool was helpful for unwinding and the convenience of Dennys for a great breakfast was appreciated. The hotel is in a great spot if your headed to the Airport or Polo park for shopping. Its nice also if you want to have a few drinks and great meal at Chops that you can walk back to the room without a jacket and winter boots. They only think I can think of to tell you would be the rooms are dry in the winter like everywhere else in the city. We found filling up the bathtub with water at night helped and now were bringing a small diffuser to put a little moisture in the air. Good Job to staff and management. Your running one of the better hotels in Winnipeg and that's something to be proud of.

The staff are exceptional and so are the house keepers! I booked a room on short notice and quickly got one. I had a ridiculously late flight that I needed to stay in Winnipeg for 2 days. I asked for the cheapest room possible and the clerk done an awesome job meeting my needs. There are 2 things I was looking forward to 1, Complimentary water bottles and 2, free continental breakfast. Other than that, there was a near by gas station and Dennys! I would especially like to recognize GiGi at the front desk. While I was checking in she was serving a very difficult customer. At no time did she show any frustration with her voice or body language. I was amazed by her patience and understanding. Such an amazing person to have on your front desk. The hotel is fantastic. What a pleasant hotel! I can’t say enough about the care and thoughtfulness of the Sandman hotel staff. They really went above and beyond to accommodate our family’s needs during a trip with some unexpected hardships. This could’ve been a stressful time, but the Sandman felt like our oasis. Check in was a little slow and frustrating (20+ minutes) as there were a lot of delayed Air Canada passengers checking in at the same time. We were also assigned a room that already had other guests already staying there. After the shock and embarrassment of being walked in on, this meant more waiting at check in to get an empty room, and apologising to the elderly couple who came back to find strangers in their room. The staff were apologetic and did their best to rectify the situation. I was pleased with the suggestions they proposed to fix what happened and as a Diamond RSVP member, I will continue to use Sandman hotels again in the future.

The beds aren't very comfortable, at least in the room we had. The temperature was stuck at 21 and got hot at night. 23. The A/C had a brown fabric canvas cover nailed over it so there was no way to lower the temperature in the room. There was this weird vibration that makes the whole room/beds shake in the afternoon/evening. It felt like a vibrating bed at times which was disorienting and uncomfortable. Otherwise the fridge was cold, and there was a microwave and small coffee maker. Small but decent room for the price. They have a draw for leaving a review every 15th of the month.

Excellent staff who are very helpful, Will kindly and efficiently helped me find a room that better suits my needs. The rooms are clean and spacious. Wi-Fi is fast without interruptions so I can get work done. Beds and bedding are new, clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the walls are very thin - you hear every slammed door and pray that you don’t have heavy walkers if you’re not on the top floor. I recommend a room on the top floor, otherwise you might be disrupted by the foot steps and slamming doors.

My company makes frequent use of this hotel for its flight crews, including myself. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience here. The hotel staff have become almost like family. I have come back to update my review. Last weekend I stayed 2 nights here at Sandman and had some significant issues with some communication. I initially left a 2 star review as a result of my experience. I was unable to alter my reservation and had to return - Upon my arrival today for my one night stay I was greeted with a complementary basket and a very nice suite upgrade. The staff here went the extra mile for me and that makes all the difference. Hats off to the hospitality staff for caring.

This hotel is great for short stays "near" the airport. There is a Superstore and Walmart a couple blocks away (walking distance) for those last minute needs. The hotel staff are all AMAZING. The suites, although dated in decor, are extremely clean and quite cozy all things considered. I prefer staying here over a traditional hotel room where there is only a bed, tv, and desk with large blank walls. I cannot comment on price/value as I stay there for work.

The location is so close to the airport and convenient to navigate Winnipeg and visit friends and family. Was our 4th sandman hotel in a week on our road trip from Kelowna to Ontario. Had our car broken into over night and management and security went above and beyond assisting us. Security managed to secure all of our items and the hotel management offered to cover our rooms and assist with repair of glass. We had to get our key cards replaced by about 4 times which is inconvenient. Lastly, the way their card-activated elevator functions is also very annoying and inconvenient especially when you're in a rush. Though the hotel is showing some age(not bad really) but by far, has the best gym of any hotel I have stayed. Apparently it is operated by a fellow who does personal training out of it. It has 2 racks, a wide cable tower, enough plates to push or pull 315, and dumbbells up to 100 lbs. definitely will stay here again just for the gym if nothing else. Really enjoyed our stay, even though we were there for a medical appointment at HSC Cancer Care. With it being so cold is was nice catching a cab to the front door of HSC and back to the front door of your hotel. And having to not leave the hotel to go eat!!! Perfect!!! The food was great. And the girls at the front desk were more than just helpful, they were kind and friendly, couldn't thank them enough for that!!! Will for sure be staying there again on our next visit.

A lot of small problems with this hotel. Rooms are dated. Key cards never work properly. Water pressure is inadequate. Doors are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hallway. The crowd it attracts is somewhat seedy. There's no laundry room and the gym is small. No free breakfast. The staff are nice enough, but this hotel needs to go.

Hotel was overall pretty good. We were looking for a hotel close to the airport for our flight next day so this fit the bill. Only downside of our stay is 6 of us got stuck in the elevator for about 30 minutes but the hotel did make our stay 100% complimentary because of that inconvenience. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to book there again.

The room has a strong smell of cigarette smokes and dust from carpet and curtains. It made me sick for 4 days,my friends already warned me beforehand but i just dont have a choice for our dog.

There was a lot wrong during this stay. I have stayed there before, and it used to be a nice experience, and hotel. First off, the check in staff were all very polite and friendly. Now for the unfavorable things:

Room stank rlly bad,we were told we had two queens and a pull out not sure what size the beds were but they were not queen waaaay over priced More

My family needed to stay close to HSC for medical reasons. The Sandman was easy to access and accomodating for all coming and going. Thank you.
