Savoy 3D Cinema

One of the oldest EAP movie theaters. This theater gets all the new English movies just like scope cinemas. They have 2 screens here. Savoy 3D and Savoy2. They recently upgraded the savoy 3D main theater with Dolby Atmos and its pretty amazing. I must say its actually better the what scope cinemas got at CCC. Ample seating space. They have ODC, gold class(which is basically balcony seats) and Boxes. Gold class seats are much expensive compared with the ODC. There is no much difference but they do have stadium seating and a bigger chairs compared to the ODC. If you are a couple you can go in to a box where you will have your privacy. They have got 2 canteens, one on the ground floor for ODC and Savoy2 and the the other on the 1st floor for Gold Class. The canteens do not have much to offer but the basic snacks and drinks. They do not have a selection of popcorn flavours. Its something i really love to see. The video quality is good, the air conditioning is good and ofcourse the sound quality. The 3D quality is also good. Toilets are kinda cleanish. They do give a break at the middle of the movies so you can freshen up and buy some snacks. So there are few reasons why i can't give 5 stars. 1) they let you queue outside like in the stone ages. You can test your luck on a rainy day. I went to see the 10.30pm show on a Sunday the theater was empty (max 50 people) but still they did not allow people inside the building till they started issuing tickets. Thats so annoying. 2) security guard try to scam me in to buy a parking ticket. They do have a decent car park but it's usually packed. And also note that its totally FREE of charge but you will have to wait till the movie before your time finishes. If you get there early the guards may try scaming you and let you park by the road somehow how. 3) canteen and food choices need to improve!

I went to ponniyin selvan FDFS at 3.30 a.m. I was so disappointed with the service of management of savoy. The movie was scheduled to be screened at 3.30 a.m. But the movie was screened at 5.00 a.m. They haven't given us any proper information regarding why is the movie getting late to start. They didn't even come and apologize to us until everyone shouted to start the movie. They came and apologized at around 4.50 a.m. For the delay, they have told everyone that there is an issue in the formatting system or something. They didn't even mention it properly. Everyone was shouting to start the movie. Even most of the people went and argued with the management. If they haven't argued with the management they wouldn't have screened the movie. Around 4.20 a.m. They have told us that we are not going to screen the movie because if we screen it delayed then there will be a delay in the next schedules. Luckily, everyone went and argued, or else they would have returned the money and fooled all the customers. Even after repairing the issue, they're only concerned about their benefit. They're not even caring about customer satisfaction. It's ashamed that savoy is doing a bad job like this. As a reputed theater, they shouldn't do like this. They didn't even give an interval. I was so unhappy with the service of savoy management. I hope they will try to improve their customer service. Other than that theater was super clean and comfortable. As usual, they maintain their standards other than timekeeping. I want you all to try to improve your screening systems to avoid any troubles like this to screen the movie and make sure if you face any situation like this please be kind enough to inform the customers to avoid creating a bad reputation on savory management.

Its a old cinema and now they have refinished with 3d sound quality and it seating is very good. The service is great. Myself and my son went see Beast.. Probably the best place for movies in Sri Lanka. The screen is as good as it gets (in local standards) and sound quality is decent. For the best viewing experience Gold Class tickets are recommended. The easiest way is to book tickets online since the place is usually crowded (depending on the movie of course). The place is often clean and well managed despite the fact that viewers tend to leave behind a lot of trash after each viewing. Overall good experience. Since this hall is right next to the road, you don't have much space to wait until movie starts if the theater is going to be full for a movie. But theater it self is good. Good video quality. But i found that the sound volume is too high in some scenes. You guys might want to look into that Best Dolby Atmos Sound quality for average price point. Cuz I watched Black Panther Wakanda Forever in Last month. I was Super Quality. And the canteen is having with ok meals. But I'm going to try Avatar 2 3D in CCC scope cinema on day after tomorrow Savoy 3D Cinema has been one of the best places for a very long time. Their technology may have been surpassed by newer theaters but Savoy still performs decent. Booking tickets online is crucial. You won't have enough time to book new tickets if it's crowded. Snacks they sell are very generic but decent. Hall is clean. Theater experience will have people walking, blocking heads and flashlights.

The hall I went is clean and well maintained. The screen is very large and there's large range of seats to choose. Heard that the hall I went is Dolby Atmos ... But I didn't actually felt it. Could've confirmed if they played the original Dolby Atmos advertisement which checks all the surrounding speakers. But I didn't see any salesman near the popcorn counter or the snack shop inside the theater. When I entered, there are 3 turned off monitors and not a person to check for ticket booking. I had to wait for some time to get mine. There was a touch screen with a card reader attached, I think it's purpose is to self booking? But it was locked or something, the interface requests some sort of input that is not related to buying tickets I also didn't see any security guard as well. I see that as some level of unsafe-ness.

Recently, the movie theatre had increased security because of the recent attacks in the country, so we had to get checked before entering, which also means bags were not allowed. There was also a big line at the ticket counter, but we were able to skip it because we brought tickets in advance using the 444 app. We were going to watch Avengers Endgame, which is a 3 hour movie, so we had to wait about 45 minutes more than our time slot (4.15pm). Overall the film was fantastic, you can definitely notice the 3D effect, but the Dolby Atmos effects cannot be heard in this movie. Also, we didn't get enough time to buy snacks during the short intermission time.(5 minutes) Make sure you return your 3D glasses after the movie ends.

Compared to other theaters in Colombo, the prices here are very reasonable, making it worth the money. A ticket costs only RS 885 per person for 3D - ODC, while balcony tickets cost RS 985 per person. The snack prices are also very reasonable, with a pack of popcorn priced at RS 450. Hot beverages are available too including Hot Milo and Nescafe.

I read other reviews before write my reviews. This place is great. I have visited many cinema halls, this is way more better than entry level cinema hall.. There was no bad smells and anything. The place was very clean when I visited. You can book the tickets from the website and verify from the counter before you enter to the movie hall. Service is good. There was no issue but only issue that I have seen, is Sri Lankan ultra posh people who comes here put their empty beverage cans, packets everywhere. Either they keep it on the seat bucket or put those into a trashcan. Instead they put it on the floor. This is very rude in my perspective..

Good theatre, with a good sound system and screen. Their seats and the steps are perfect, your view won't be blocked by front row. Hand rest is movable Which I find helpful. Their restaurant is good despite their over pricing. But their maintenance is somewhat low. I have faced issues several times, like no air conditioning, water leakage, terrible noise and 3d not properly working. Overall, worth the money, but need proper operation and maintenance.

Recently had the pleasure of watching a movie at Savoy 3D Cinema, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! Was the staple movie place when I was little. but now there are better places to enjoy a movie than savoy. Try PVR galle face. The sound is great but the seating arrangement is so bad you have to look at someones back of the head if you are unlucky and someone tall sits in front of you. Gold class higher value tickets are for the balcony which is a sub far experience.

Not the first time here, but a pretty Convenient location. The easiest option is to come by a tuktuk or the bus as parking can be troublesome. Street parking is available, just be ready to pay or be chased by the ticketing agent. The cinema is good and comfortable. Toilets are clean. The cafeteria has various options for food and drinks, but could use a facelift.

Ideal place to watch a movie if you want to get your PANTS RUINED. More than 2 chewed chewing gums were sticked all over my pants more than 2 times ( one of them was imported very expensive ) This gives us a clear idea about cleaning staff and hygiene of the theatre. Could have cum or other substances on those seats too. Never recommending to anyone

Had one of the most unpleasant experience ever. Recently watched Ant man and Wast: Quantumania. I had to adjust my 3D glass throughout the whole movie. Even though the sound was good, the picture was so dim, no brightness at all. It's a shame to watch a such theater falls and fade away. I used to watch many movies since my childhood

Recently watched Ant-Man and the WASP Quantumania film in 3D. Such a bad viewing experience I have ever faced in 3D theatre. The screen was totally dark and dim and the 3D glass view is not satisfied at all. Sound is pretty good. Not recommending you to watch Marvel Or 3D movies in this theatre anymore. …

One of the good theatres in Colombo. Seating is fine. Snacks available but too much priced. Restrooms were clean. Free parking available at the right backside of the theatre for limited number of vehicles, and if parking is full still the street parking is available.

Comfortable seats. Sound quality is good. I visited for 1:30 show on a weekday; only handful of people. No outside food allowed. Canteen does not have bakery items. As usual finding a parking slot is very difficult. Washrooms are clean.

It is big hall more than I thougt. But screen is little bit small compared to CCC cinema hall. But has good surrounding system but again not perfect compared to CCC. But there is a canteen that you can buy beer if you want.
