Only stayed in Hobart for a few days but went to dinner here twice. The food is really yummy and great value. The staff were friendly try to accommodate even bigger groups who haven't booked a table. Definitely easier to get a table if it's just 2 of you. Would highly recommend Sawak Cafe More

Probably the best authentic Malaysian food I've had outside of Malaysia! Delicious mi goreng and wonton noodle soup, tasted beyond perfect!! Cute little spot in Hobart CBD, staff were very nice and helpful. Highly recommend for a delicious, freshly cooked meal and an affordable price :) More

The fish curry was on point - excellent. The char Kway teow I asked for spicy it wasn’t. When I asked for sambal (happy to pay) I was passed chilli oil and chili. The char Kway teow wasn’t well executed unfortunately - definitely would not order again but the fish - on point, excellent. 4/5.

We sat outside and got to tell others about how great the food is. My mum and sister have been eating here the last three nights and loved every differnt dish. I had the singapore noodles and they were so good. Everyone kept ordering more food. The menu is perfect in descriptions. More

In a city with no shortage of good food options, Sawak Cafe easily holds its own. Come here for some of the best eating you’ll enjoy outside of Asia. Fresh, flavoursome and great value. The staff are always welcoming, and service is prompt, regardless of busy the place is. More

Friendly/courteous staff, fantastic/well cooked food and the restaurant that deserves the top Malaysian place in Hobart. No time limit (seems to be a thing in Hobart) for our dine in and it would be better off if you had a reservation based

Bing bang boom. This place was legit. The best Malaysian I have had outside of Malaysia. Friendly service. Nice and quick. Well balanced and authentic flavours. The chicken satay was a winner sometimes this dish can taste like peanut butter

This has always been one of my favourite Asian food cafes, but omg the food is still getting better. Friendly staff, cosy relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, prompt service,... can't go wrong whatever dish you choose. Cafe is rarely packed

Been trying to get a seat in this little restaurant for a week. Finally got lucky and ordered the Nasi Lemak beef randang. The beef always soft and tender, just needed a little more coconut and lemongrass flavour. The fried anchovies was

I really wanted to like this place but was sadly majorly disappointed. The meals were lacking in flavour with none of the balance or punchy flavours you would expect in Malaysian cuisine (hot, sour, sweet and salty). No fresh herbs to be

Lovely place to visit in town. Food is affordable and lovely. I got the chicken rice, it was filling and flavourful. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a cheap lunch in Hobart. More

Walked in to be told they couldn’t do chicken dumplings because the chicken was too busy, they couldn’t do tofu because they’d ran out - so don’t come in with any clear expectations of what you’ll be eating!

Staff are lovely, prices are decent. Food-wise, here are my ratings for each dish as someone who’s grown up in Southeast Asia: - Teh Tarik $7 : 2/5, doesn’t quite have the rich, deep flavour of a classic teh

Our experience started well here last night, the deep fired starters were good. However once the mains came out (Laksa and a noodle dish) we couldn’t find enough condiments to make them remotely tasty.

Excellent Malaysian food in the centre of Hobart. Super tasty and delicious, quick and friendly service, and very affordable prices. We loved the rendang, laksa and har mee. More

I ordered chicken rice, and it tasted like they just boiled the chicken in a hot water pot. The soup was nothing more than warm water, the taste is awful. What a disappointment!

Swift service! Stir fry noodles are good, had that wok charchoal smell that you can only get in the restaurant stir-fires. Will be back to try other dishes one day. More
