Then schad is the place for you. Truly. I don't rave about a lot of places, but I will rave about this boutique, from the roof tops. If you have not shopped here, you need to. NOW! I have been a client of this business since the owner Chantal Biro-Schad started out on Elgin Street. I have shopped in all of their locations and have LOVED every second of every experience. These two genuine, artistic and gifted entrepreneurs really started the locally-owned retail revolution in Ottawa. And they have written the book on service. Want to be on the cutting edge? Get yourself to schad. Chantal brings into her boutique lines before ANYONE has heard of the designer, let alone owned a piece of that magic. I know that if a particular line is in schad, it is going to be THE hot item for the season. I came to know about SMYTHE Jackets because of Chantal. She was one of the first in the country to embrace the two brilliant jacket designers. Chantal made so many of us 'SMYTHE Girls' before the term became famous because of Catherine Middleton. I wore SMYTHE before 'Kate' did. Because of Chantal. And to this day, she carries one of the largest selections of each season's collection. Unreal. I have a gorgeous collection of SMYTHE jackets in my closets now. The last two purchased for this season. This year I have fallen in love with SET, My Sunday Morning Fr., to name just two. And why? Because Chantal brought them in and showed me how they were made just for me. Shopping at schad is not laborious. It is EASY. And so pleasant. I can text Chantal in the morning and tell her I have an event and guess what? As soon as I arrive a number of pieces that Chantal knows I will love are waiting for me to try on. Magic! The service is personalized, informed, professional and fun. Andre and Chantal's staff is equally schooled in the collections. Each member, fully-bilingual, is able to meet your needs. One of my favourites there? Lori. She knows what I need and want way before I think I do. HA! And she has exquisite taste. Chantal and Andre take great care in training the staff and ensuring they are an accurate representation of their exacting standards. In a city where non-personalized service, big box stores and outlets have come to be expected, schad rises high above the masses. It is my go-to boutique. Always and forever. I never write reviews, but this store definitely deserves it! I walked in and (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) but the lady that was there was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I was searching for a maxi fancy dress, and she was super patient with me, showed me around various styles that she has. Unfortunately, I didn’t find what I was looking for. However, her service was amazing to a point she asked me when I wanted it for, and started recommending other boutiques she knows of that caters to what im looking for exactly. She named all stores that she could possibly think of, and then even took it an extra mile to go online on their sites and search for styles and show me different price points. She even offered to call a neighbouring store to ask the owner(who she knows) if they’d stay open a little late for me. Before I left, she said that if I still couldn’t find what I was looking for after trying the stores she suggested that she would be willing to connect over email or the website’s live chat with me to try and find suppliers and try to find me the exact style I’m looking for. I could clearly tell how much she loves her job! Talking to her was lovelyyy and her willingness to help me search for dresses even if not from her own store was just so heartwarming!

I was interested in purchasing a Smythe blazer so I decided to go to this boutique to try them on. The staff member helping me showed me all my options and recommended certain ones. I was on the fence since it was an expensive purchase but she was very understanding and suggested that I could sleep on it and order it online if ever I couldn't make it downtown. I did end up purchasing it after all and I am in love with the blazer!!! The package I received in the mail had a handwritten note and a teabag! I shop online a lot but it's rare that I get personal touches like this, amazing!

Buyer beware with this store! Bought an item through their instagram stories - no mention anywhere through the process that it was Final Sale! Not mentioned on the post, anywhere through the sale process or even on the receipt! When I contacted them to return, was told it was my fault for not reading the fine print buried in the bottom of their website!! Terrible customer service not to mention unreasonable and unprofessional! Sad, as I would have like to support a Canadian business - but not one that treats their customers so poorly!

My experiences with Schad have been so pleasant and enjoyable. First off, I love the decor and the design of the shop. I'm a sucker for brick walls and high ceilings. Secondly, the designers they carry are so fun and interesting; the fact they carry Canadian designers is such a bonus. A local shop selling Canadian clothing? OMG SIGN ME UP. I've purchased a few items of clothing from their store, and the staff is so kind and knowledgable. 10/10 will shop there again will be coming back.

Shadd was at one time my favourite store in ottawa. However my last few visits were disappointing. Lack of selection has become a problem and what is available can be purchased anywhere. I was looking for a John varvatos polo and ended up buying it at Harry Rosen. Their selection of summer stuff for men is dismal. I like this store and wish them well but I think they need to make some changes .... maybe a new buyer ....

Schad Boutique is one of my favourite local shops in Ottawa. Anytime I want a new pair of shoes I think to go there first. I always end up finding something special that I know not many people will own. On top of that, the customer service is consistently excellent. I would strongly recommend stopping at Schad anytime you want a unique piece.
