Worst bank ever! I booked an appointment with a “small business advisor” to discuss borrowing options. I came in to find out what I could do based on a good credit rating and personal income. I had already research the Government secured Startup Loan, but was also curious if the bank would just group all my personal credit into one account. The “advisor” just submitted the application for the hardest loan to get with the bank, which was a business line of credit. Then, after it was declined looked at me and said declined, it only had a 20% chance of success anyway, because you have no revenue yet. I lost it!! Why the hell didn’t she tell me that before putting a declined loan on my credit report!!! I called in the manager to complain that I received no advice at all and that she should have told me it had such low chance of approval so that I could focus on the govt secured loan!!! The assistant manager JULIA who I found out after misrepresented herself as the manager, literally did nothing and could care less about what her incompetent staff just did. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and pulling all my accounts!!! I will secure the govt loan with a credible lender who employs skilled staff instead of using this minimum wage paying joke of a bank. Absolutely atrocious!!! If you’re a small business DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!!
This branch is particularly different. I went into the branch because I wanted to find out where the $100,000.00 in one of my accounts came from. They didn't even bat an eye over it. Their only concern was the cheque that I wrote to myself in an attempt to make an overdraft (and real overdraft) for one week. Was thier only concern. Trying to make it look like I was burning the bank, when my name was clearly written on a cheque that was obviously mine but I guess that was more important than the one hundred grand sitting in my account. In the process of such event. The bank manager trie to take up my little card wallet of the counter, I tel her that, that that is mine I'm just getting my things together, because I had my laptop out. After about a minut, she still pickup my little wallet with my simplii financial,my paypower all my other cards except for my Scotia cards,(they weren't in there) cups them in her hand and walks off. Like it was nothing. That's when I let her know that now we know what they do to thier customers in there. They just out right steal from them. They froze all my accounts closed them all talking about an overdraft cheque that I would have had to payback immediately upon funds entering the account . Personally I think the $100,000.00 was the big deal there. What do you think?
Absolutely the worst place to do banking! Staff are hugely unhelpful and appear to have little or no knowledge regarding company policies while also completely incompetent carrying out the most simple of tasks. Last year I had cheques from my employer over $900.00 on three different occasions they refused me access to my funds and told me I needed to contact my home branch (I've banked with these people for a couple years and EVERY TIME I need to deal with them they are horrible!). Despite a clean history they told me to take these cheques to another bank. Where I don't have an account and they also didn't care to tell me I would need one at that specific branch which was located in Whistler. My home branch contacted me after WEEKS to increase my credit amount and because my income was inconsistent they would only increase it by $300.00. So buying groceries, paying my rent, ANY purchase or transaction I could think of was impossible on payday. Two different branches I have walked in they cashed the cheque with no issues to speak of. Yesterday I wanted to exchange foreign currency and was told they don't accept coins!? Your employees are ridiculous with absolutely no conscience to speak of.
Not helpful AT ALL! I have been trying to solve the simplest issue for over a month now, and I know it is a simple issue as my mom has been in the banking industry for well over 20 years... The level of customer service I received here was absolute trash. Although I never went into the branch, I called Scotiabank and went into various other branches over SEVEN times for one issue and was always told that the branch manager at Chinatown has been sent a request to get back to me as he is the only one that can help me.. Today I called him myself and left a message and surprise surprise he calls back to tell me that I have to go into another branch as my main branch is a different location. Regardless of who is at fault here between the Scotiabank individuals, the way I have been passed around for over a month with NO ONE taking ANY initiative to help resolve my issue has been a complete joke!! I would definitely not recommend this bank to anyone and can't wait to be done with my mortgage to never come back and make sure my family does the same.
BEWARE: the staff at this branch does not take the mandatory COVID-19 PPE seriously. I went to this branch yesterday trying to process some banking needs and noticed the young cashier was not wearing his Facemask properly ( I.e. his nose was exposed and not covered by the Facemask at all). I gently reminded this young men to please cover his nose completely as I hand over personal I.d. over the counter to open a new account. I was shocked when the young men not only refused to do so but his coworker laughed at my suggestion...needless to say I quickly left the branch and sanitized everything when I got home. I am shocked by the poor attitude exhibited by the staff at this branch towards the lack of respect towards the seriousness of COVID-19 consider this branch is frequent often by Asian elders for their banking needs. I hope that the manager at this branch can take this matter to heart and train their staff on the importance of wearing PPE properly.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Their ATM swallowed my money and didn't register my deposit. I went to the branch and they refused to help me. I asked for the manager, they said the door is closed so no. I reached out to Scotiabank via Twitter and they reach out for me. I got a VM from the branch manager Leslie, I called back and left a VM too. No callback in over 3 days. The twitter team followed to say Leslie reported she called me and resolved the issue. I replied NOPE! This Leslie manager should be terminated by corporate, I've never seen such abysmal customer service. SHUT THIS BRANCH DOWN OR GET RID OF LESLIE. When you have a manager with poor customer service skills it trickles down to the staff and they have the same attitude towards clients. Look at all the other negative reviews and don't be fooled! Go somewhere else!
My family member had several questions for one of the "senior financial advisor" staff there. she was met with a sour and terrible attitude, not to mention, little to no advice. he constantly answered having to ask someone else for the info or answers to the questions. so much for being an advisor if you cant advise anything. It felt like they did not want her business at scotiabank. I understand there are certain locations where the below average staff are placed but it ruins the companies image when there is nothing done to improve it and you can see from the other reviews that this is an ongoing issue of bad customer service at this location.
These 5 stars are for Vincent Man, our Senior Finance Advisor Vincent Man has always has gone above and beyond to be as accommodating, kind, and courteous as he can be. He stayed after hours to meet with us and gave no impression of rush when we even went over that time too. He is patient in answering all of our questions and always emails to us kindly despite our lack of response back. Vincent is a stellar person and financial advisor and we give our thanks
They were helpful and palpably sympathetic with common banking problems that sometimes outwit the best of us (ha!). The staff addressing my inquiries were knowledgeable and thorough with the bank conditions that apply to my case. Although reasonable, it did take some time for the request to be resolved; it seemed to me that only senior staff have access to certain overviews, so I had to wait for them to help confirm some information.
Doesn't seem to care in offering consistent rates and policies within Scotiabank. Manager Leslie Lau doesn't care about customer satisfaction; doesn't waive small things like draft fees (had no problem with this at this or other branches in past). And doesnt honour rate holds with respect to policies that allow adjustments to still maintain that rate. I recommend banking elsewhere. Even at another branch.
Do not bank with these guys they are scammers! I had to pay extra interest and when I’m closing my visa it so happens I cannot close it unless I’m in person. What a terrible banking system. I’m switching to RBC and everyone should do the same.
The older, senior female Teller, is openly racist to non Chinese persons, the younger tellers trying to help customers of non Chinese background, without them & their jobs, we would have taken public action to exposé the behavior.
Could be the worst customer service of any financial institution I have ever had.... Absolutely no idea what customers service is.. Grant was the least helpful customer service representative.
Hmmmm....using the manual lock on the door after hours is not that helpful for someone who wants to use an ATM. You already have a locking mechanism that unlocks with a bank card ♂️ …
tried to open a bank account today, old asian lady said they only accept asian people what kind of racism is that, if you dont like seeing other nationalities move back to china
Your machines are the worst across the city!! Try to deposit cash and Deposits are UNAVAILABLE. I have issues with your machines constantly at every branch. Fix it!!
Absolutely the worst bank i have personally dealt.. my own account and my parents........
This is a downtown bank and theres only 1 atm that closes at 10pm. Know your location
Friendly and patient staff. . It could use a little freshening up in its decor.
Super friendly staff. 5 stars for Grant Deng. He is one of the best here.
