The location of the ground was out of the way in a busy residential part of Bristol. It wasn’t the most exciting journey to get to the stadium, and spent a lot of time finding somewhere to park. The view upon arrival looked quite formidable. The large floodlights and the access to the main entrance was certainly something to feel excited about. The facilities were just ok. There was a bit of an odour from the gents, but all in all, they were ok. The food and drink choice was outstanding, with Indian food, Jamaican food, Italian, pizza and a burger bar. There was also a dessert van and ice cream there too. So the choice was plentiful, however, the prices were steep. There was not much of a security or police presence in or around the ground, and with the amount of drinking that goes on, you’d have thought they might have needed more than they had. The atmosphere was quite pleasant, people were enjoying the cricket of all ages, and it seemed like a good place for youngsters to gain a keen interest In Gloucestershire cricket.
I am basing my rating/review on previous visits to this ground Pre-Covid. I have found this ground to be a great venue, whether watching domestic 50 over cricket or International fixtures. On my most recent visit for an England Women's ODI, I felt the facilities slightly lacking. Sat in the Mound Stand, there was only 1 food outlet and bar. The toilets were basic Portaloos instead of the cabins (for want of a better description) I have encountered on previous visits. Also, no litter bins within the 'arena' and no Stewards monitoring the mask policy. I'm sure COVID19 played its part so i will not judge to harshley. Thank you for even hosting the match I attended and I look forward to future fixtures. 28/09/23: Life appears to be back to normality as I visited twice this season for both men's and women's ODI matches. Unfortunately men's match was abandoned due to rain but that's not the venues fault however, the women's Ashes match was one of the days of cricket I have experienced. See you next year ✌️❤️.
So good to see the Cricket Club trying to keep up with the nation in up marketing their ground. Been coming here for 16 years and the transformation is amazing, the old county ground was full of character and history! The new re developed ground still holds that history but looks brilliant. The old Mullers orphanage behind the old mound stand looks over the ground and so good to see they kept all the benches :) love bench seats. One of the best grounds in the UK. Parking is a problem when the ground is at capacity or near capacity and from a lot of experience I get the bus, cycle or park 10 minutes away and walk. The roads around the ground are pretty much wide enough for one car as cars park on both sides of the road and there is the odd place to pull into to let people past (very slow). The buses from the centre are very regular and is quite any interesting bus journey via Stokes Croft and Gloucester Road.
First time visit ( Worcestershire supporter ) Royal London 1 day cup. Easy to find just off the A38. Plenty of parking in surrounding streets ( but I guess it's harder to find a space in the evening matches when residents are home ) there is some parking in the ground but I believe this is first come first served. staff all polite and friendly ( a credit to the club ) Covid regs adhered to and encouraged. Ticket allowed me to sit anywhere which was great to move around every few overs to get a different perspective. So be mindful on a sunny warm day there is not much cover so will need a hat. I'm not a fan of the festival portaloos but it is what it is. Food is pricey so always best to bring your own. Plenty of supermarkets on the A38 to pick up stuff. Love the murals dotted around the ground and a great atmosphere even with the lousy weather and best of all we ( Worcestershire ) won
The British weather called off the game I went to watch (Banladesh vs Sri Lanka). Food is very expensive at the ground, be prepared to pay £10 for a meal! The merchandise store is overpriced, buy online, a fraction of the price. Alternatively, there are stalls, usually leading up to the venue, that sell merchandise also cheaper then the store inside! Public toilets were flooded, both inside and outside. Poor maintenance. If you are traveling by car to venue, look at side roads, majority of the time they will be shut and signs displaying access only, but I found no problem parking. Would recommend coming early though as others are also looking for parking! Alternatively there are many park & ride bus services. Although I got my ticket refunded due to abandoned match, it took me over 3 hours to get to venue and then another 3 hours to get back. A disappointment is an understatement.
Two for the price of one Review one: as a venue for watching circket it's got everything you need to enjoy a sunny day at the cricket, I could see issues if the heavens open due to the lack of shelter. On match days there are plenty of food options and drink but remember cricket and football grounds are never cheap. Overall they know how to hold the big events. Review two: having been to a number of evening functions at the clubhouse (which looks like Darth Vader's helmet) the food and service is good but the dj we have always had is worse than bad. Get good entertainment for the evening combined with this venue and your onto a winner.
Massive fan of Gloucestershire Cricket Club. Me and my Dad and his father in law went to see the recent 2020 game against Hampshire at the County Ground. Unfortunately it was abandoned. Because of my disability, I struggle to walk, so have to sit down when I can. So we went under the gang way to stay away from the rain. My Dad found a space next to a elderly couple (we were respectful of the 2 metre rule). Just before I sat by the wall, the elderly bloke told me not to sit close to them, so we moved away. My Dad was angry with them! Why don't the club install seats connected to the wall for disabled fans like myself?
Used the premier lounge as the location for my mother's wedding reception. The communication with the venue left something to be desired, it was quite slow and sporadic when asking questions. However the end result was lovely, Natalie and the team pulled it off and we had a great night. The food provided was of a great standard - we had "posh" hot dogs and chips and salad and it was a massive hit with everyone. The DJ used by the venue was also good, playing a good mix of songs from the eras requested by us. All in all a great night, could just do with a bit more communication in the run up to the event!
A decent little ground but the organisation of the bars and staff was the worst I've ever seen. There were 3 bars with a few barmen on each and 3 other people taking orders and money Infront of the bar. These people saved next to no time at all as they simply turned around and said the order to the barman then waited for him to pour the pints. And in-between each order the barmen would stop pouring drinks. There were 3 pints on offer just keep the tap on and pour as many as possible and line them up. Missed a quarter of the game queueing for a pint. Must have lost thousands in revenue
Not the best place to hold a concert because it's in the middle of a residential area. I bet the locals hate it! Pubs before the start of the event are rammed and queues are way too big. Parking in the area is bad on a normal day so don't think you'll be parking near by unless you are disabled. Actual venue is ok but lacks enough toilets and bars. The toilets which were all portaloos, the queue time was about half an hour, if not longer. After the event, the roads are gridlocked with taxis and disabled customers. You will be better off walking away from the venue then hailing a taxi.
Very easy and quick entry in to the ground with friendly and informed steward's happy to help you with any enquiry. The seats were very narrow for myself and my friend even though we are of normal build and the whole ground had a slight feeling of being incomplete, (the scaffold stands are the biggest contribution to this). The Brightside ground could really do with some investment, just firming up facilities like toilets, food and drink stands, seating, and the overall atmosphere, then it will be able to compete for international cricket matches and England tests.
This cricket ground in Bristol has a good choice of seating, refreshments and other facilities. On-site parking's available, but free street parking's also possible in adjacent streets. Ticket prices are good value and views of the cricket action are excellent from many positions. One minor criticism: the pitches tend to be rather docile, thereby favouring batsmen rather than bowlers-but that's fine if your team wins the toss... and chooses to bat first!
Been here quite a few times over the past 45 years! Shame the old stand has been replaced by flats but the Pavilion is a vast improvement on the past in my view. Limited bar areas when the ground is full as it was for the T20 last night, but great to see a busy County Ground. Several temporary fast food outlets. Fairly easy to park a 5 minute walk away, but nearer to the ground it will be difficult to find a space on big match days.
Opening match of the 20/20 on a warm summer's evening. Head of events management should tender their resignation monday morning, pathetic. 40 mins plus waiting at the 3 ! Yes 3 bars that were open, very limited food offering, and a steward said they don't normally have much more except for busy games ?! As they say, you don't have a second chance to make a first impression. Apart from that aren't you in business to make a profit ?
Great place to watch the cricket. Lots of food and drink stalls, these are a bit pricey but if you're hungry/thirsty and you didn't bring anything with you, then you have to bite the bullet. Remember to take sun cream and a hat as,if it's sunny, there is no cover over the seats. The park and ride to the ground is excellent and drops you within a few hundred yards of the ground. Great day out for all cricket lovers.
Sitting in the sun, watching top/first class one day county cricket with friends, beer at hand, is one of the joys of early summer. A rather quaint ground set amongst dense housing don't expect much, if any, parking so come by public transport. When in, staff are friendly, the bars and food outlets are not overpriced. All seating is uncovered so bring a hat and sunglasses. Good value tickets. Recommended.
Fantastic day out, great family-friendly atmosphere bringing people together. Lots of space around the stands, with various food and drink shacks. £1 deposit for good quality plastic pint glasses, so much better than the flimsy rubbish ones you get at football and elsewhere. Leg room is tight in the seats for us long-legged folk! Friendly, well-organised staff.
First time visiting ground and easy to find. Plenty of parking in the area. No cover on any of seat stands, so everyone had to run for cover. Plenty of portable toilets but would have liked some soap and water, not just sanitizer. Food and drinks provision were good. Would definitely visit again, and hope for better weather. …
Went to see Tom Jones last night the sound system was absolutely rubbish couldnt hear him talking..Tom was absolutely brilliant!! If it had been anyone else playing there we would have soon realised that they hadnt got the sound right. But it was only Sir Tom's voice that saved it. Venue was a joke I will not be going there again.
saw a T20 game here. Bar not overpriced and service was quick. They use reusable ‘glasses’ : £1 deposit so they’re trying to do their bit for the environment . And the fast food is good quality and not overpriced like some venues where thy have a captive audience! Good family atmosphere at the ground. #GoGlos !
Sadly there is some thing wrong with the management or the head coach, the spirit and confidence of the team is gone, gloucester you need to have a serious look at what's happening, and take the necessary steps to ensure the future of the club thrives not fall's in to the abyss, starting now!
Took part in a quiz in one of the suites. Quiz excellent. Bar staff good. Food was bang average and poor value for £11! Had to "make my own" veggie option from a bap and a veggie burger on plates of ready made beef burgers. Salad decimated. No wedges left. Poor. Felt sorry for lad serving.
We saw Hampshire v Gloustershire, decent game even with the rain delay. Good seating and atmosphere, plenty of food stalls. It's been some time since I've seen a game but I was amazed how good the replays are and communication with the fans was top notch. Had a great time, would recommend
Came here to watch a County game. Not crowded and looked like a newly furbished bar with a cafe in the corner. Very spacious and majority of staff friendly. Lovely display of the community with the schools decorating letter's near where the residential flats were. Would come back again
Great venue in the City of Bristol, a bonus to watch top class cricket so near to home. Although it is fully appreciated that there are restrictions on the number of spectators and these can fluctuate from match to match, the catering and the toilet facilities need much improvement.
I attended a property auction here. The venue is superb with ample on site parking. A number of drinks were not available through the bar as we were informed they were being saved for the following days cricket game which was a shame but the drinks we did have were decent value.
The monsoon that wiped out half of the day aside, huge queues for the toilets (not enough on site) and Park & Ride arrangements left a 60 metre long queue standing in pouring rain for 35 minutes before 2 busses arrived together. Not a great day out for the money expended.
Managing people is good . Nice cricket stadium to watch , no parking on-site . On street parking or have to park somewhere around 1-2miles and then walk . Good stadium to watch cricket in sunny days . Food is expensive and ok . Have around 5-10 food and beverage stalls .
Waao it's lovely and amazing . First time visiting with APA Roisin and Alizay Aliyan and that was great visit .Lush green ground with super cricket pitch and jamnesium. Best place for cricket lovers and trainers . Highly recommended so don't forget to visit☺️. …
Attended a concert here as opposed to a cricket match and they just weren't set up for it. The "big" screens weren't fit for purpose - they need to be at least twice as big (they're are only 2) and the queue for the toilets was a minimum of 45 mins. RIDICULOUS!!!!
We been to this ground to watch the India Vs England T20 game. Overall it's a good experience. We spent 20 minutes to find a parking. Tips: Leave well early and get into the ground since lots of car were lined up on the narrow road and caused huge traffic jam.
Inadequate amount of bars and food outlets with long queses and staffed with people who don't seem to know what they are doing or how to add up, plus not enough temporary toilets, it's quicker to leave the ground and use the local pub facilities.
Fabulous venue, great cricket but I have dropped a star because the hospitality was not quite what I hoped with no coffee/tea available during the day and very slow service of dinner between the innings which meant we missed the first 4 overs.
Made to feel welcome, good south west Bristol atmosphere amd its in the middle of an old fashioned housing area like the football was back in the day , made to feel very special without them evening trying , thank you amd see you again …
Getting into the county ground was a q around the block and when you wanted to use the toilets well you can only say night mare q for 20 minutes shut the door and use the toilet in the dark well worth spending your hard earned cash …
Not suitable for England matches. Facilities are far too small for big games. Huge queues for everything lead to people going to the toilet in beer cups and right behind the food trucks. Saw kids genuinely frightened by the crowds as well.
The County Ground in Bristol, England, is a cricket stadium that serves as the home ground for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. This venue has a rich history of hosting domestic cricket matches, including County Championship games,
Dreadful weather!!!! This was are first match at Bristol since 2018 so were very keen to be there. The stewards were very friendly and helpful. The covid arrangements worked well, although it was so cold we retreated to sit in our car!
Reduced capacity due to Covid the seats are still desperately cramped. I am 6'3'', the match was only a 20-20 game but it was still impossible to sit in my seat. Food and drinks stalls were excellent. Bizarre to only have portaloos.
First time at the ground, general experience was very good, but the queues for the loos was ridiculous at times. Plenty of staff around to help. This was a 1 day international. England V Sri Lanka. Shame about the weather …
If you fancy the subdued nature of 4 day cricket or the razzmatazz of T20 the Brightside is the perfect place to watch it. Good pricing and decent food and drink options. Would highly recommend a visit if the opportunity arises
Lovely evening watching Gloucestershire at the County Ground. We're very lucky to have such a great venue right in the heart of the community. We got tickets via The Drapers Arms on Gloucester Road, so only £20 instead of £30.
It's multifunctional , I saw a keep fit class in one of the rooms wheelchair accessible with a lift up to the bar. Lots of free parking. The staff are friendly and helpful. You will probably need a sat nav to find it though!
Big fight tonight, my kids were pushed out of the way by stewards who didn't initially intervene and allowed the situation to escalate. And then other people in the crowd shouted at them to get out of the way. Charming.
Was delivering, security was good and tight, staff were very helpful too, Covid safe and aware. Took a couple of pics of a game going on, on a glorious late April day, just lovely.. Thank you all, a nice place to be...
Good views of the playing area from nearly every seat in the ground. Stewards are helpful. Food and drink prices (£9.60 for a steak cheeseburger and 500ml Diet Coke) can be high when an international is played there.
Great day out even if you only have a passing interest in cricket. But the plastic seats are too uncomfortable for a full day. Can come be unbolted for the CC games to give more leg room ? Would improve attendance !
Went to see my hero Tom Jones. Fantastic night but the toilet facilities were very inadequate for the size of the venue and the size of the crowd unfortunately. Better organisation next time would be appropriate.
I visited the cricket club to attend a business conference for the first time. Everything was very well maintained and the staff were very attentive to our needs with coffee and a light lunch. Plenty of parking.
In my opinion our 3 course lunch was overpriced with very small portions on large plates. £30 with no mince pies or tea/coffee to finish. Also massively overpriced house wine at £21.95 a bottle. Not impressed!
Got invited to this year's fireworks display, never been to this place before, parking was a nightmare due to works all over Bristol. The display was fantastic with a Great family atmosphere around the place.
Great, got to see England women beat the Aussies . The queue to get in was pretty big, but they had prepared well in the bar area and there were no substantial queues when it came to getting drinks. …
Small but nice ground. No parking. No significant public transport links. Set in the middle of housing. Overall it seems that this place is more a nuisance to its neighbours than a benefit to the city.
Pleasant county ground with appropriate numbers of facilities to the size. Fairly short boundaries but pitch usually has a little bit in it. All stands are uncovered so bring sunscreen and an umbrella
First visit had a great day ,helpful Marshall's. Parking get there early and walk in or a taxi/bus. Close to the action permanent stands have good leg room temporary ones not so much. Great day.
Great little ground. Obviously as I went during the world cup the refreshments were expensive but the seats are comfy for a sports ground. I was in the cheap seats and the views were still good.
A great day out until the Heavens opened and the natch was abandoned!!Very friendly welcoming staff all around the grounds, exceptiobally well organised. My one criticism...not nearly enough loos.
We had some trouble finding it but car parking was V good and ground was clean and welcoming. Shame we couldn't sit above the ground floor 'cos I'm in a wheelchair and their were no lifts.
A great ground, easy access, facilities are top notch, particularly suites overlooking the pitch. Hospitality is well run, food was yummy & the service was friendly. Well done Brightside
Brilliant. First time visitor from London to watch England v Pakistan. Very friendly staff. They also have a prayer room, which is very handy. The prayer room is located in the gym.
I am not satisfied with the shape of cricket field. Not spherical (circle) type of ground.. India have much beautiful stadium then this in term of capicity shape and looks❤ …
Parking can be a problem, but there are a couple of bus routes that you can get to the entrance. They have a good hospitality areas around the ground, not sure of the prices .
Great venue, great selection of food and drink, live music in the bar. Just can't control the weather. So take a brolly as no covered seating. But definitely recommend a visit
Always made to feel welcome, covid-19 protocols, straightforward and efficient, staff always happy to help you every amenity catered for !! shame about the weather ☁️ …
Ground looking really good with the new paintings, the world cup statue, the walk of legends & the roof terrace. Great to have stands named after Mark Alleyne & Jack Russell
Pleasantly surprised. Excellent small ground. Simple things like bright yellow paint on the concrete concourse walls make all the difference. Gracious crowd. Friendly staff
2nd time I've been here for an event (guest talker) has always been amazing. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the bar service is speedy and just a great atmosphere
Small but nice ground. Very little under cover for when torrential rain came down. Great place to watch international cricket as small boundaries so plenty of runs.
No water stations to fill up drinks. Good view of the action from all areas. A good ground with parking being another issue as in between houses. Friendly staff.
excellent place to watch a game of cricket. normally there is free parking at multiple place and then you get buses for the stadium. Park and ride facility.
Took some kids from the youth club to a T20 match. They really enjoyed themselves as I did. And we got players autographs and free coaching at the end.
Thoroughly enjoyable day. Sun was shining. I got burnt (by the sun!) Good service from the food and drink vendors. Especially enjoyed Thatcher's Gold!
Buyer beware - They cancelled my friends’ wedding date at short notice because they had a better offer, leaving them in the lurch with nowhere to go.
Enjoyed an afternoon of cricket, plenty of good seating to be had. A good place to be with friends and a lot of fun when the Vitality Blast starts.
Good spot for watching Cricket as always. Good facilities and food available during Cricket matches. Also good for functions in the main pavilion.
Great venue, great event, could do with a little better signage for which entrance if you're collecting tickets on the day maybe. But top class.
Not the prettiest ground in the world, and a long way short of fellow West Country cider drinking Somerset, but a decent second best option.
Visited here for a course, great views and pleasant space. Food was ok and a little pricey £3 for a chocolate muffin but would visit again.
Queues, queues, queues. Spent 45 minutes waiting for a drink. Should limit capacity as they clearly can't deal with a full capacity crowd.
Very helpful stewards felt very welcome ,good layout to the whole place ,good view from everywhere, facilities very pleasant, will return
Great city centre ground, very lucky to be watching sport in these strange times. Staff helpful, easy to get to bars with quick service.
Had a wonderful birthday celebration for my wife in the grace room watching WI vs. England. Very attentive staff and great environment!
Great atmosphere. Very clean and organised. Food and drink prices very reasonable. A great place to go to watch some relaxing cricket.
If I could give ten stars I would but then I like cricket and I do not have to queue for the bar! So my review may be a little bias.
A fantastic venue with really friendly staff, recommend the hospitality tickets, worth the extra for the seating and private bar
Good day out to see Worcestershire win! Lovely ground. Would love to return when the museum is open. Good food and beer options.
Visited for a work meeting, not a match. Good set up but food was not great at all. Looked like really nice stadium though.
Went to watch Eng v NZ Woman's Cricket match. My wife really enjoyed her day. Sham about the uncomfortable seating.
England vs South Africa T20. Fantastic game to witness. Small pitch so every seat is a good seat on this stadium.
Fabulous evening spent watching Gloucester vs Somerset in the T20 Cricket. An annual event, I try not to miss
Didn't like that much... I looks like just a field... Not a proper, proper professional ground basically...
India Vs England T20. Fantastic game to witness. Small pitch so every seat is a good seat on this stadium
Great place for cricket although corporate entertainment takes up too much space on the Hammond roof
Great stadium small enough to feel really involved in the game, big enough for great atmosphere.
Brilliant on a nice day. Good facilities and good ambiance. Would recommande to cricket lovers.
Great venue call them and ask about how you can have your special event in such a special place
Brilliant atmosphere and very easy to get too everybody is very helpful AMAZING Cornish pasties
A great evening out. Easy to be close to the cricket, good facilities and a great atmosphere.
A good day's cricket. Great view from the Mark Alleyne stand. Easy access to food and drink.
Really like this ground. Not a bad view in the stadium. Great atmosphere for internationals
