I was in your shop this morning around 10am and was served by a guy. I have never received worst customer service in my life. He was rude, rolling his eyes at me, sighed when I asked where the washroom was and didn't bother to tell me I needed a key to get in. When I came back from the locked doors looking for a key he rolled his eyes at me again and pointed at the counter where it was sitting. I advised him he wasn't being very nice and he could use some customer service skills. He then told me he didnt agree with the strike. I don't care what he agrees with, I am a customer and deserved to be treated nicely or atleast without the eye rolling!! He also did not give me my coffee as I asked for which I'm sure was done on purpose. I work right across the road from your location and have spent a lot of money there over the years. Unfortunately, I will never go again. I heard from several people today that they had a similar experience with him this morning. I have always had wonderful friendly service at your location. If you want to have any customers left, you may want to look at this employee as he needs an attitude adjustment! I never write these type of reviews but I was in customer service for most of my career and would never treat anyone like this regardless of what kind of a day I was having.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. My experience was horrible with Barista. Me and my husband went in to get our usual order’s. Barista was completely ignorant and rude. We asked for honey vanilla tea latte, and it was completely runny. My husband went in again mentioned to the him that something is off with the tea to which he started arguing. We asked for replacement to which he reacted ‘ Okay, but just to let you know I won’t be making it 3rd time’. We were in complete shock and again for second time, tea was still not good, runny and there was something wrong with milk. I went back in third time and told him this is completely wrong again to which he didn’t had any answer and started arguing with me. I lost it at that moment and gave it back to him and said we don’t need any 3rd tea or your attitude and I garbaged both the tea’s in-front of him. We just went to Starbucks across the street and were much more happy with their service. This location need to either fix the attitude of this Barista or bring people in who actually want to work.

I have gone to the Slater location a couple times because it is a short distance from work and I like to support Canadian-owned businesses. And, Second Cup was my favourite place to get beverages when I lived in Newfoundland. Today was the last strike for me, as I was not given what I ordered, and the barista made every excuse for why they did not make what I ordered. A cold brew is not the same as a latte, which I am sure baristas well know because they are brewed differently. Even so, if the drink is similar to another, I still would have liked what I ordered. It wasn't particularly busy and they took their time to get me and my friend our drinks. So I did not find my last experience at this particular shop professional. I will try other locations, and hopefully will have a better experience at other Second Cup locations, as I would prefer to get my favourite beverages and support Canadian business at the same time.

Made an online order this morning which I paid for and when I went in to pick up my coffee at 7:20 AM, I noticed that the door was locked and no one was inside. The store was supposed to be open by 7. I went back an hour later and they were open, so I spoke to the barista and inquired about my order to which he sighed and stated that I shouldn’t have placed an order online before checking in person to see if they were open (he did not apologize or offer an explanation). He was rude to several customers and often would not acknowledge anyone that walked in. I feel sympathetic that he is the only person working at a fairly busy location, but the customer service is horrible. I would not recommend people come to this location.

Beware of fake/staff reviews, they're trying to save their terrible location. Serves inedible food, incredibly old and stale. Poutine was served with fries I would approximate were made in the morning and served at night. Another time I ordered from here my poutine had colorful tortilla chips in it. Their excuse was that they are, "close to where we keep the cheese". I don't know how this is in ANY WAY ok, to keep cheese and tortilla chips in the same container or area but clearly again, staff have no regard for health and safety. Staff clearly have a total disregard for food safety and health practices. No manager present to speak to at any time. This place needs to be shut down.

I make it a point to come to this shop—the staff is so friendly, making it always an enjoyable experience. Also, the coffee is always fabulous! The manager seems to always be here, and they are always gracious, kind, and overall amazing in spite of the obvious difficulties of frequent equipment failures and staffing issues. I would have loved to give this Second Cup—one I go out of my way to travel to because of how positive the experience is—a five star review, but I couldn’t bring myself to do so because of the lack of support the manager and staff seem to be getting from higher up.

Last time I was there, he had forgotten a pastry from my order and quite honestly, I was afraid to ask for it. Of course when I did he rolled his eyes and begrudgingly gave it to me. This isn’t the inviting experience I hope to have when grabbing my morning coffee. I am sure other staff are much more pleasant and friendly but this one spoils it for me every time.

I loved Second Cup and couldn't wait to have it again in Ottawa. They took them away north of Toronto where I live. So I get my fix when I can. I ordered my usual Hot Chocolate and Oatmeal Raisen cookie. (They were out of cookies) 2pm on a Sunday. I got my order and went to use the washroom. Soooooooooo gross. I almost threw up. No way was I going to drink my hot chocolate from a place with a washroom so dirty. Was the outside cleaned at all??? Waste of a hot chocolate.

This is one of the better burger places around. I tried their regular burger and halal patty burger, both of which I recommend. The only issue I had was that they forgot to put mushroom on my burger. Also their burgers are a bit pricey, but the burgers are larger than other places. If you like charcoal style burger, with more flavour and seasoning, then get the regular burger if not then get the halal burger, less flavour and less oily. I definitely recommend adding additional condiments/toppings, especially the crispy onions and spicy mayo. The service was fairly quick.

I thought it'd be bad but didn't realize it'd be this had their poutine is the worst I've ever had in my entire life and the staff have no idea what they're doing. They have no customer service skills and are insanely slow. It's not worth going here. The fries were soggy tasted old there wasn't even enough gravy to coat the fries the only thing this place has going for them is the okay cheese curds and the pack of ketchup I get to leave in my fridge for 8 months because someone decided I'd want it. I'm glad this isn't my business

My family and I ordered 5 different burgers. The staff (the 2 guys working at that time) were extremely friendly, organised and clean. The burger was one of the best burgers I've had in Ottawa in a long time. The meat tastes fresh and beefy. Overall I'd give the burger a solid 8-9/10 Honestly tho fries were just bad I see a lot of bad reviews about the poutine so maybe it's the same issue with the fries. At the end of the day, I think I found my new go to place to grab a burger. 100% recommend the burgers.

Because of my egg allergy I asked for a gluten-free bun but when I went to eat my burger... the bun was a regular bun. I called the store to let them know of the issue and the employee on the phone repeatedly told me I must be mistaken and was super rude. Honestly didn’t want to cause an issue I just didn’t want to end up in the hospital because of my allergy. Please do not test your luck with this place if you have a severe allergy, they did not seem to care at all that their mistake put my health at risk.

I ordered through Uber Eats. The restaurant did not pay attention to any of descriptions for the order (i.e. no lettuce etc). They just put whatever they wanted to on the burgers and did not add the items I paid extra for. The pop was also missing and the bags were not sealed. Every order I have received since the pandemic started has been sealed, but not this one. Delivered with bags open. I called the restaurant and they said they would call uber eats and call me back. That also did not happen.

this second cup is a little gem if you need a place to get work done without distraction, as it attracts a much quieter, solitary crowd than its competitors. lots of outlets around as well. i will say though that i ordered a decaf skim milk latte and got a caffeinated one with full milk - these details matter and mistakes like this shouldn't be made, especially because many people order decaf/skim for health reasons.

I tried this place 5 months ago, and it was terrible. The place was newer though, and I was willing to give it a second chance. I went back two weeks ago, and the food quality was excellent. I had the True North burger with onion rings and fries (although i had ordered the poutine, and got charged for it but only received the fries). It was expensive but the staff were friendly and I'd definitely go again.

update: all the good baristas have moved on and this place is now a ghosttown with burnt milk. Perfectly made flat whites & a cafe that understands the difference between a cappuccino & a latte. The staff here really make the experience. So friendly, engaging and just straight up good customer service. Happy hour for my commute home. Wish Second Cup Canada head office would change the playlist, though.

Am not a fast food fanatic but tried it for the sake of it given its a new joint ,can someone explain to me why these burgers are so expensive, its not as if they are better than A&W , actually A&W tastes way way better and their burgers costs 40% less , what am I missing. Of course I will not step foot in this store again just because they chose to take advantage of customers

New location in Ottawa. Shared interior dining with Thai Express and a Sushi/bubble tea shop. It’s a good walk in location. The burger is pretty good, but there are plenty more in the city that are better, and non-franchised. The fries are really good, but the cartons are too small for the price of getting a combo. Overall it’s just too expensive for what you get.

Had only one worker and did not seem to be going as fast as the worker could go. No other customers were there and service was still slow. Gave us cold fries and half the size of the container. The burger was decent. With what we got (type of service and food) way too expensive, especially because of the service we got. This location is not recommended.

To say I am IMPRESSED is an understatement. The new menu and toppings are absolutely incredible, my fries were cooked perfectly and tasted fresh, and the staff were super friendly and payed close attention to detail as well as special instructions. I have gone to South St. Burger a few times and absolutely loved it. The burgers are amazing. We have tried different ones every time we went and none of them have ever disappointed. I have definitely found my new favorite burger restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good burger, friendly staff and a great experience.

The guy behind the counter is rude and unprofessional. Second Cup, do better. Hire people who know how to offer a measly “good morning” or a simple “no problem” if you say thank you. It’s the bare minimum.

They will make you a flavoured coffee of your choosing if it is not the flavour of the day. It tasted great, but was not very hot even though I take it black. The problem I have seen with them is that most do not offer drive-through so it is hard for them to compete.They let you overstay your welcome and offer free wifi. Comfy seats.

Worst Second Cup I've been to. Badly maintained and interior looks old and dirty. Wash room clearly doesn't get cleaned regularly. It was very dirty and there was no toilet paper and no paper towels.

Disappointed with lack of recycling in this day and age. Their drinks taste very good, but are expensive, almost $7 for a non-dairy smoothie, in a non-reusable plastic cup. Price isn't listed on the menu for smoothies, nor is it listed that smoothies do not fall under their happy-hour drink special. I have not tried their food.

Coffee and pastry are excellent But unfortunately, it seems like the guy working there in the morning is 100%, not a morning person I heard him swearing a lot and never saw him smile. Client service isn't the greatest.

My mom liked her poutine. I got fries with a cheese sauce. My cheese sauce was sour - I thought it was just how they made it so I gave it a chance. Well, it was rancid and I spent the two days on my bathroom floor with food poisoning. I recommend the store revaluate their cheese sauce procedures.

A perfect cup of hot chocolate and lemon tart made my winter morning a little warm. I customized my hot chocolate to half sweetened and the sweetness was on spot. The only thing that I felt needs an upgrade and cleaning is the washroom. Sitting is limited yet chairs are comfortable.

No flavor in the gravy. The burger had more flavor but barely better than something that reminded me of hungry man frozen dinners. I do not knowing I will go back the other food all around this place is so much better that it will be hard to chose to go to this vendor

This is the ONLY second cup in Ottawa I will patronize. Service is friendly, the staff seem to love their jobs and take pride in their work. Every time I order my favorite drink I am always pleased with how it turns out, and even when it's wrong, it's still so good!

Well the good news is this place won't be around much longer. Service was slow, burger was already cooked and kept in warm water before it was thrown on the grill, fries in the poutine were cold, and the poutine tasteless. Do yourself a favour and skip it.

I asked for a veggie burger and I got a beef burger with bacon. Not to mention the server had their mask on their chin with their mouth and nose fully exposed. Definitely not worth it I do not recommend. (would give no stars if it was possible)

Love going here. Very relaxed and pleasant place to meet friends and family just to catch up on life. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is clean and cheerful. Definately a place to go when you just want to hang out.

Dead quiet on a rainy Sunday afternoon, with loathsome music blaring out of the speakers. Staff had no interest in turning it down, despite stating it was lousy music. Could not concentrate, read or simply enjoy a brew. Left, won't be back.

It seems a little empty during early morning for a coffee shop. Not sure if they were really happy to see me or not, but willing to give it a second chance. Smoothies are not available but still advertised. Used to love going there in 2018.

I really like the staff at this location. They are always very friendly, and courteous. Despite long line-ups they are always very happy to serve you. Their selection of cold & hot drinks are very tasty, and I love their fresh baked goods.

I love their coffee way better than other coffee chains. Plus, they are the only ones who offer a lactose free milk (not soy milk!) for a nice Latte, with NO extra charge as in other companies. Great place, great service, great location.

Went on Canada day. Wouldn't give me tap water and wasn't permitting people to use the washroom even though we bought food and drinks. coffee was mediocre and our order erroneous. Go to Starbucks next door.

The wifi is not locked to the shop’s clients. As a result the entire office building above uses it, so the internet is unusually slow. Don’t expect to get any work done at this Second Cup.

Good coffee and staff generally friendly. However the place is badly worn. Couches and cushions are in some places cracked and filthy. Badly in need of some upgrades. At least to seating!!
