Together with the whole family we had the pleasure of being guided around Dresden by Seema with her Third Reich Tour. She is extraordinarily knowledgeable and could answer our (often very specific) questions very well. The combination of her stories and old pictures of Dresden gave us a vivid picture of the time of the Third Reich, how the regime functioned and it’s devastating consequences. Especially interesting was Seema’s analysis of the psychological aspects of the political regime and how it’s leaders came into power. She also took us to an impactful sculpture reminding us that the Second World war also caused pain and traumas to German citizens. The tour respectfully painted a nuanced picture of the history and the people in it. Our group consisted of both youth and adults, and all got something valuable out of the tour. Thank you Seema!
Karen was superb as our guide on this tour. She covered Dresden's history going back to pre-Germanic days, its noteworthy kings and their interactions with neighboring states, its importance as a scientific center for more than a century, and the trauma experienced in WWII. Mixing history and living in Dresden since the 1990s, she brought a lot of insight as we walked through the historic center. She also raised interesting questions about Dresden's firebombing toward the end of the war, which I need to explore further. The group was diverse and small as advertised. I'm very glad there was still a spot for me, since I made my reservation at the last minute.
I had the opportunity to attend the old town walk curated by "See My Dresden" and was spell bound by the knowledge and nuances that were shared during the tour. It was a historic and emotional journey through the old town and spanned from the opulence of the Saxony empire to the devastation of the Dresden bombing event. The walk ended at the Frauenkirche, and the story that was shared about the church's devastation and restoration was emotionally stirring. The storytelling ability and the oration skills at "See My Dresden" make the service really worth it, and also show how so many people have made this historic city their home!
i cannot say enough wonderful things about Seema. she was so communicative via email really promptly after my initial email request. she expressed genuine interest in making the private walking tour of Dresden as personal and impactful for me and my partner. she even did some extra research ahead of time regarding a family member’s time living in Dresden during WW2. this was an experience i will remember forever thanks to Seema. i would highly recommend doing a tour with Seema early on in your visit to Dresden so you have some knowledge about the city as you continue exploring it after your time with See My Dresden.
We booked this tour through a third party website for a 4pm tour and we got an email confirmation for the 4pm tour (and even emailed with the company about adding a person to the reservation). We waited at the meeting spot at 4pm but no tour guide showed up. When we called the company we were told that there is no 4pm tour and that there are only tours at 2:30pm. The company offered us a free tour for tomorrow afternoon but we will be gone by then. Only book this tour for 2:30pm or else you will be sorely disappointed.
Seema is an exceptional and very knowledgeable guide. She made sure that we saw all there was to see, although we arrived late because of unforeseen circumstances. She was extremely generous with her time, her interest was showing us the sights and giving us all the relevant information and history of Dresden.
Booked a private tour for 2 hrs on a busy Saturday and would do it again anytime. Wolfgang has a great sense of humor and a lot of history to share. We enjoyed the tour very much. Thank you Seema for organizing on such short notice.
