Eh it's nice enough but it doesn't have the same warmth and vibrancy as the Franklin Ave location. (It is also literally very cold physically.) I'm also somewhat irked that they don't carry all the same items, especially in the bulk section, and that many items can only be purchased in pre-bagged quantities. Like, say I only want 5 figs for dessert after the meal I just ate there. Nope can't do that. Have to buy a bag of them and spend like 3-4 times as much as I wanted to. Sure, I'll have a supply of figs for the future, but that's not the point. The issues certainly have nothing to do with space concerns, as the place is huge and wide open. In fact, someone with agoraphobia might have a problem going there. A lower ceiling would have helped with that. Anyway, it's not *bad* and I don't mean to be a complainer, it's just that it isn't *great* like Franklin Ave is.

I have been a loyal member for several years and visit several times per week. I was informed on my last visit the front end staff was freaking out because I only had a face shield covering my face. This is upsetting due to the fact I have a medical condition. I have complied with the bogus, long overdue mask wearing due to others freaking out. Businesses are suppose to be compliant with medical restrictions. As a Naturopathic doctor the masks people are wearing DO NOT stop the tiny droplets of this virus. I understand the Governor has mandated the mask wearing..mandate is not law. I have been shopping primarily at the Lakewinds store..they are very cool about medical conditions. I Intend soon people will realize the virus has a 99.7% survival rate and the real danger lies in wearing a mask for hours at a time in healthy and unhealthy people.

They have very friendly staff, and a great selection of fresh ingredients. You are going to spend about double what you would pay at target, etc. for a lot of groceries so I only shop here for a few things. You have to bring your own bag or pay 5 cents for a paper bag and bag your own groceries. It's very much DIY. I like the concept of a co op but I price shop and can get fresh produce that supports local farmers other places and better quality for way cheaper. However, we love getting our fresh coffee beans from here and I picked up a whole rotisserie chicken for only $9.99! You cant beat that price. I buy two organic frozen chicken breasts and it usually runs about $7.99-9.99. Their hot/cold bar is pretty small but it's nice to be able to pick something up quick.

Until today It would have been 5 stars. I have pulmonary fibrosis and use portable oxygen when I go out. Wearing a mask causes my oxygen to malfunction so I have to periodically pull down the mask to restore my breathing. Today's heat made it worse. Other store employees were kind, offered me water and a place to sit in the store while waiting for my ride. The cashier in customer service by the front door yelled at me to pull up my mask though it was just below my nose. I said I would but I needed a few minutes. She said "pull it up. It's the law". This in spite of my obvious distress. She kept yelling until I said to her the law says if I have a medical condition I don't need to wear one.....was my medical condition not obvious to her?

I’ve been a member for two years and feel very much at home here. I love their hot bar and premade items. Bulk selection and produce are excellent, especially for people who genuinely love to cook. My sister visited from New York. She’s a very picky vegan who loves to cook a variety of foods. She was very impressed with the spice and produce selection, quality, and price. Sure the prices of some items (like frozens) are more expensive, but I just chose to buy those items elsewhere or wait until they go on sale. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This is a genuinely great store. Additionally this was one of the few stores I felt comfortable shopping in during the pandemic. They took that stuff seriously and it was a relief.

This place is generally an awesome experience, but I have one complaint/request I have to make of the management and it's this- y'all need to implement a single "feeder" line like at a bank that feeds into multiple open registers/register workers. As it is, there's no self-checkout line, there's not a consistent express lane, and the lines all seem to move at completely arbitrary speeds. I know this is a childish thing to feel frustrated about, but it's a nightmare picking the ONE INCREDIBLY SLOW LINE and seeing 3-4 people who started behind me check out before me when I usually only buy a handful of items at once. Again, amazing selection and kind staff, but this one logistical frustration in actually shopping there.

Shopping at a coop is such a mixed-emotions experience: on the one hand, you're buying organic, probably local, maybe sustainably sourced food that's going to do your body good! On the other hand, it's expensive and you feel a little douchy and, it's in a lower income neighborhood which just feels messed up. Are you doing good things for yourself AND the community?! We sure hope so! This is a great small coop that will satisfy the average coop shopper in most ways! Their hot buffet is off the chain, their nutter-butter smoothy is and the staff is friendly (sometimes a little too much so). So, that's great. And, they usually have decent music playing there. That's nice! :)

I've shopped the Seward loc about a thousand times. So glad for South Mpls that this great grocery has moved in. There seems to be the semblance of diversity in the floor staff (dunno about upstairs), which is great-- but when i visited for my first time recently at 7 on a Tuesday night i didn't see a single shopper of color among the twenty or so customers. If that's happening in a place like South then that means the business has to work harder and do better somehow.. I'm not sure how, but they don't pay me for deep thoughts, they pay the administrators. Great co-op. It's basically the Wedge, only better (and somehow more local)

Usually have a great experience in this store despite the expensive prices (but that’s the sacrifice for organic, healthy food). I resonate with the comment of feeling judged after today’s visit. There was a tall employee with a mustache that appeared to be snickering at me as I was looking at what to buy. I decided not to pay any attention to him because I felt very uncomfortable between the staring & snickering. I just expect a bit more professionalism since that’s what I usually get shopping at this store. Cashier was very friendly & kind! I will be back despite this incident– very convenient having the store nearby!

  • Krista Anderson

I love this place in so many ways, but I had to downgrade my rating tonight. I was in so much pain, especially when bagging my items. I was leaning on the counter, wincing, crying out, etc. My cashier had no one behind me in line, but instead of offering to help, she was on her cellphone with her back to me. There were extra employees elsewhere standing around talking to their friends. Finally after I had just finished struggling to bag everything, another CUSTOMER offered to help me. By that time the hardest part was over. (I will say that this is quite unusual for this store, but it was pretty upsetting.)

  • Dorwatha Woods

This Seward Co-op is my absolute favorite! Besides fresh, organic produce, there are several sale bins around the store where you can find discounted treasures. The prepared foods are delicious and made with exotic spice mixtures that appeal especially to the culturally diverse community in which it is located. I can find cow tongue, fish heads and bones loaded with delectable salmon, and other tasty offerings not as easily found in other stores. They utilize the whole animal-no waste! The large squares of cake with brown butter frosting will make you swoon! Check it out!

Well sad to say I have to change my 5 star review to a 1 star.... Used to love the friendly and inviting atmosphere. But now the "everyone welcome" sign apperently means "everyone who acts like me". I stood and watched as a woman was turned away because she didn't have a mask. Even thought she explained she could not wear one. The employee stated incorrectly that this was MN law. I guess it's fine to discriminate now at the Seward Coop. Maybe not based on color or gender preference but certainly if you can't wear a mask you are not welcome in this "community co-op."

  • Amy S.

I love Seward Co-op but this review is about the floral department. Flowers a total unnecessary luxury that has always been a secret splurge. Not sure who the previous buyer was (perhaps a ways back) but they always had a variety of different affordable bouquets. They had lovely teacup roses and were well stocked. Someone loved their job. Today I stopped by and they had tulips for 23.99 when I asked about the price the clerk shrugged and said "well they're out of season......" Smh.... With all the local growers around, there are no affordable in season flowers???

  • Nola Van Stee (Danny Devito our lord)

This place is great if you have an allergy and need to know that the company isn't lying about having it in their food for more media attention or to seem trendy. Most of the things here are local sourced or come from small businesses. Great if you want anything organic/non-gmo. Staff are friendly and any products bought here are great quality and last a while. My only complaint is that it can be fairly expensive, but it makes it worth it to know you're supporting a local business. Great for people with food allergies.

  • Pearl Rose

The folks who work here all do a great job. Big thanks to the smoothie team for always crushing it! The selection is great, so glad this store exists, but I hope the team is treated as sustainably as the organic produce. Cashiers should absolutely be allowed to sit. Management need to provide support to their hard-working staff.TCCP do quite a bit of virtue signaling so let’s see them show up for their diverse and awesome staff by setting employees up for a successful shift.

  • John Zamojski

Seward community co-op is a wonderful grocery store.they have a wonderful organic fruit and vegetable section that includes your basic veggies and fruits and then some amazing exotics. And if you're looking for meatless meat products they carry the best.I'm so lucky to live just a few blocks away and they also have a co-op membership program where you own part of the coop and get really good discounts on the food. And as we all know organic can be a little expensive.

  • Ryo Flying

Staff members are very welcoming and friendly there. Pricing can be higher than other chain stores, but this is a local scale, community owned business, keeping the profit and resources to the local community. Very bright and clean inside and they have many uniquely assorted products from the local region you can’t find in other globally sourced, privately owned grocery stores. I appreciate many bike racks and a cup of great coffee! Recommended.

  • Sara Kelly

LOVE this place. Their meat bundles are awesome, and I love being able to buy some of my favorite things in bulk (and receive a member discount from doing so). Great healthy/organic options, and great to see the assortment of local products. Some items can be a tad overpriced, but I'm grateful for being able to make this my one-stop grocery store (so sometimes I pay the premium for convenience).

  • Don MacLeod

Nice store with plenty of selections for produce and other grocery items. Great deli counter. The sell the Wedge's fresh bread as well. Lots of treats in the cooler on the way out. I would give them 5 stars, but a lot of items are a lot more expensive than other stores. I guess they have to pay the mortgage for the 2 new stores, but it is still worth dropping by. Very friendly staff as well.

  • Roberto Russo

Great place for all your organic and promote many local farmers. Wonderful community and fantastic grocery store. I'm going to be honesty the price is not affordable, and not reasonably priced for anyone. It's kind of annoying when they're asking if can round up from what the actually price is. Am I Italian -American and I can't find any international food aisles or an ethnic foods.

  • Kate Joy

The much anticipated co-op in my hood! I love this place so much I became a member and feel so grown up n cool. I can always find my homeopathic ingredients for self care. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. I always get a smile n hello walking in the doors. The deli menu is available on-line to plan your flavor craves. The kinda place that makes you want to linger and visit.

  • Dan huiting

I found the staff to be go-out-of-their-way helpful when I had questions, suggestions, or couldn’t find an item. Great place and wonderful location. They have “round-up” programs where you can round up your change and they give that money to a different local charity each month. One cashier told me it’s not chump change either, usually in the 20k range. Very cool.

  • Devin Roll

Easily my favorite place to shop for groceries. The staff are some of my favorite people in town. I went to the same cashier on my second trip, and he remembered my name. Now we strike up conversation every time we see each other in the store. The selection is diverse, including bulk sale produce, spices, teas, and more that I would struggle to find elsewhere.

  • Shandra Jensen

Great shopping with beautiful produce, an awesome selection of meat alternatives, and amazing friendly down to earth employees who some are Wu-Tang fans! This place is welcoming which I look for in spending not just my money but my time as well. I really recommend this place to anyone wanting to shop at a co-op but hasn't pulled the trigger yet.

  • Josh Disher

Nice little neighborhood co-op with a good selection of products and produce. They even have a deli with hot food and pastries. Theres even an area to sit and eat. Staff is helpful and friendly. The meats and bulk departments are very impressive too. Parking has never been an issue. They also have bike parking like the other seward co-ops.

  • Katja Amyx

I went into the store because it was nearly empty (lucky timing!). I got immediate assistance finding the lip balm from an employee who was masked and staying socially distant. The store was well stocked, even though it was only two hours until close. Plenty of cashiers meant I didn't wait in line at all. In essence, a perfect grocery run.

  • Mike Allen

Really good produce and an amazing selection of spices, coffees, nuts, and grains. Their meat section and good and you can pick up duck fat when they have some. The down side is they don't have a lot of staple items and sometimes you don't need organic locally sourced flour for $10 when a pack of Gold Medal would have worked.

  • Dorwatha Woods

I am new to Seward Community Co-op. I am most impressed with their green apple hand pies-a very healthy but tasty sweet treat! I also love that they sell cuts of meat that others dispose of - poultry carcus, kidneys, fish heads and rather meaty fish bones! The personnel are friendly, multi-ethnic, multi-age, and very helpful!

  • Geeg M

Go to Lakewinds in you can. They treat this place like Fort Knox. Try to avoid it. If you even look in the wrong direction, someone will say something. They stand at the door like military. I’ve been to a millions stores since the start of the pandemic and not 1 of them behaves this way. It’s creepy. Last resort place only.

  • Brenda Balling

Better food, friendly service. Yummy strawberries. We had breakfast this morning from the deli. It was a very nice breakfast, although they could have had some flowers in the break/ eating room. I can get the organic lactose free milk I like there. The price of the milk went up, but I think it is still a good value food.

  • William Menday

I love this place . Staff are great! This store should be call "healthy people's food club" btw, if anyone decide to steal that name , they better consult me first. Anyway, go experience it for yourself . Pay a visit to this location. Now, when they see my resume they will have no choice but to hire me. Lol good day.

  • Perry D. Nixon

The deli/soup/salad bar is very well done! I'm impressed how home made items like the jalapeño chedder grits and chicken enchiladas taste. Everything is fresh and clean. Load up as much as you want and pay by the pound. Very easy and efficient. Perfect if you're on the go and you don't want fast food. Cheers!

  • Zepaw Mate

Friendly staff and a good selection but often overpriced. I know a co-op often stocks higher priced items but the better ones (like Wedge) offer more budget options. They have a "co-op basics" line for supposed budget items that still feel expensive. That said it's great to have in the neighborhood.

  • Anna

I love shopping here. They have such interested products and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I even have a few favorite cashiers because they often make my day because of how nice, friendly, or quirky they are. I used to hate going grocery shopping but I am always happy to come to Seward.

  • Charles Meyer

Great selection of produce and speciality items that you may not find in your standard grocery store. The customer service was excellent as three times I stopped to ask for help and they knew exactly what I was looking for and where. I will be back again when visiting my friend who lives near.

  • Morgan Roddy

I love my co-op, but the produce here has really not been up to par lately. Lots of older produce on the shelves, fruit flies circling. Some basic items have been hard to find recently as well. But overall I love the nice people here and the meat counter is a good place to get quality items.

  • Lucas Anderson

I love this place, the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because certain items are so obviously overpriced that it’s a little insulting. I understand they have to catch profits where they can, but 7 dollars for Driscoll raspberries is silly - even Kowalski’s has cheaper Driscoll’s… KOWALSKI’S!

  • Seán Kelly

The Seward co-op stores are definitely among my favorites in the Twin Cities area. This particular location seems to have an especially knowledgeable crew working at the meat counter. While they are often out of particular items, the variety of selections makes up for some unpredictability.

  • Sophia Makes

I absolutely love this co-op! With the dispense your one nuts/dried fruits/coffee and even seasonings! They also have brands that’s I specifically could not find anywhere else and the little health and beauty in the center of the store has the kindest woman working at it. 10/10

  • Earl Netwal

Had a Saint Patricks day meal here which was pretty good. Suspect the intention of this location was intended to provide good food to the local "inner city" population - but the customer base seemed to be from outside the target population - probably due to the high prices

  • Brett Bennett

Excellent secondary location for Seward co-op. Well-renovated for a grocery, with all the amenities of a high-end cooperative. Excellent deli and bulk section as well. Only improvement would be to the layout, allowing for easier finding of central ingredients, i.e., ghee.

  • MishaMPLS

I love going down to the co-op and looking through the produce and meat sections, feeling inspired, and bringing home dinner. The produce is fresh. The meat counter is extensive (usually have fresh goat and lamb). I love the cheese selection and international foods.

  • Scott Stover

This is a great little grocery store. I love their dedication to making programs like WIC work for everyone. Rotisserie chickens are a great value and the deli is reliably good. You don't have to think about weather the food is healthy or not. It always is healthy.

  • Karl Narveson

It's great to have a classic whole foods co-op located right in the neighborhood. The all-organic produce is pricy, but the dairy is competitive and the bulk section is a bargain: rye flour, for example, at less than half what it costs at my regular grocery store.

  • Jeremiah Johnson

They have a big selection of specialty foods that you can't get just anywhere. Ot is more expensive, but since it's a co-op you can join to get better deals. You can also feel good knowing your money isn't going to a bar company. The employees are generally nice.

  • Sharon Taylor

It's an awesome place to shop. Everything is so fresh. I bought a lifetime membership today. I was a member way back in the day when my son was little. At that time it was monthly and yearly memberships and pay ment was to donate x amount of hours per child

  • urbanotter 1968

I always kinda feel judged/corrected in some capacity there. Like I rarely leave there feeling good -customer service wise. Plus it's much more expensive than the coop used to going to - Mississippi Market Selby (don't feel judged as much either).

  • S Olson

I like the idea, this store is 5 blocks from my house. However, while their service is great, their selection is lacking. They have very minimal vegan options (bakery, deli, and most of the store) so I drive to the Wedge rather than going here.

  • Adonniss Mensah

great staff diverse people clean bathrooms one minus was the high prices and mainly organic selection which explains the pricing and wouldnt be considered on the high end if your a usual with organics . definitely brightens the blocks

  • Javon Padgett

Always great deals, sales, and people! I just found out that you can refill your empty gallon jugs with filtered water for 38¢. Bomb. Coummity gathering place, space for laptops and groups. Hot and cold food to go. Liked o said: Bomb.

  • Sharon Ramirez

I like this convenient natural foods cooperative. Good variety of organic fruits and vegetables, good variety of hot table/ready to go foods. Clean and bright, and seems to employ more people of color than other food co-ops in town.

  • Rose Becerra

This is my go to community store. They have great in season vegetables and everything is very high quality. It's a small store so they don't have depth but they have amazing quality. Folks who work here are extremely helpful.

  • Eliot Dodd

Staff is very nice and friendly. Prices are very reasonable for a food Co-op in a city. They do have markdown items (great deals in bulk section). The atmosphere is very inviting, mellow, and well set up. Highly recommend.

  • Megan Sellheim

Great selection. Love their in store coffee shop. It is one of the only places I could find coconut milk as a dairy substitute for a latte, etc. The also have a great work or meeting space behind the registers.

  • telaney williams

If your a vegetarian like I am then this is a good place to go ,it definitely has more veggie options then a regular grocery stores, I don't like the racist/ toy/fake/rent a cop that sits in the parking lot tho

  • Allie Sigmond

Downright the most pleasant experience I have had with a grocery store. Probably the nicest staff, too. They have anything cooking related you might need, even a cafe. 10/10 would recommend everyone shop here.

  • amy hamid

Just left the store. Awful customer service. The young woman at checkout #4 was abrupt and the man in the loose tea aisle snapped at me when I asked him a question. So rude and aggressive. Won’t be back. EVER.

  • Nathan Tauer

Always a nice place to visit, they have an interesting and locally sourced selection that you definitely don't see most places and are kind to all visitors in my experience as a neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ person.

  • K

High quality foods in all departments. Knowledgeable staff in the vitamins and body care section. Their Covid19 safety protocols make me feel really safe shopping in this store. All of the staff are friendly.

  • Uncle Bacon Face

Love coming here for the onion + alfalfa sprouts! Not to mention the bulk basil and bulk mushrooms. Their beef offering is incredible from steak to everything in between. Plus, sometimes hi ball is on sale!!

  • Marc Radinzel

One of the few stores where produce changes with the season due to local sourcing. Always delicious house made sausages and organic meats. This is one of my favorite places to get fresh delicious food.

  • Joel Abrahamson

Seward Co-op is a leader in bringing you groceries that are good for people and the planet. The Friendship store is a little bigger than the first store on Franklin but has nearly the same selection.

  • Sabrina Petersen

Very friendly, clean, and inviting atmosphere. Staff is attentive and friendly. They have great coffee and a nice area to sit and read, converse, or do some work. Good variety of products as well.

  • Marcos Pena

One of my favorite co-ops!! Great smoothies! Amazing selection of organic foods and supplements, and a lot of locally made products! Also the staff has always been super friendly in my encounters.

  • Veronica Walther

Love the Friendship Store! I was so excited to have a co-op open close to my home and it has become our go-to. It's amazing how much product and goodness can be crammed into this location.

  • Chris Lance

I've only been to this store a couple of times but I really like the layout plus they have a few items the Wedge doesn't carry. Will be stopping by again when I'm in that part of town!

  • Sherry Outten

If you ever have to use the restroom you can stop in to such a clean and refreshing restroom as well as grocery shop for bargains and things that you might need on a daily basis......

  • Jessica Raleigh

Amazing selection of quality, local goods. Fresh food, grocery staples, all the basics. Try the baked goods - cookies & cookie bars were so good I stopped on my way to the airport.

  • Orrin Dabney

Kombucha on tap, and a big seating area if you want hot food. Standard coop groceries, with a steep price if you don't pay attention to what you pick up. Great bulk section though.

  • Will Matthews

Cool co-op with great staff. Selection is great, produce is immaculate, and has lots to offer across all departments. Always fun to come and find new locally made foods here!

  • Kate L

Great produce and friendly people. Very nice selection of organic and hard-to-find goods. Very community, people, and environment focused. I always love shopping at Seward.

  • Gina Coleman

All check out staff are super pleasant. Coffee is incredible, so many unique touches and options at the co-op. Highly recommend for first time co-op visitors especially.

  • Miss A

Always helpful and bright. The employees generally mask up, which I love. I came out with three exotic cheeses and finally a tasty version of consumable aloe beverage.

  • Morgan Blenis

I love the unique selection of groceries and goods here. They have a good amount of vegan options, but everywhere can always add more. The Luv Ice Cream is amazing.

  • David Coats

Very attractive store, well laid out, overwhelmingly organic foods. Result is somewhat higher prices, but they provide benefits and a living wage to the workers.

  • Reya Laing

Extremely helpful staff. Excellent selection. Amazing sales. Become a member and look for deals. It's no more pricey than other co-ops. I love this new location.

  • B B

Over priced is an understatement. Produce is always in bad condition . The only good things about this store is the friendly staff and the wellness section.

  • Tony Gaughran

I have been shopping at this co-op for 8 years, and have not ever had a negative experience or bought low quality produce here. Always friendly service.

  • christina marie Johnson

Love the Co-Op! Fave spot to find great new plant based options! Can be spendy but that comes with the territory of buying better food for yourself <3 !

  • Ole Johnson

Over priced. Mostly though there bagel went moldy after two days. The bagels weren't better than Cub foods bagels which stay fresh longer.

  • George Slade

Not only top-quality groceries but some of the best hand-painted signs around the Twin Cities. I hope they stay up forever. …
