A strange place I came here for an event in the downstairs club area. Upon arrival I asked the disinterested waitress where the event was and she was quite short with me. Great start. I sat and waited for my friends, while waiting I ordered a raspberry cocktail. It tasted strangely of sesame, bit weird. Then on my friends arrival I ordered another cocktail named ‘soda pop’ which also tasted of sesame?! Weird. Bartender same as waitress, very lacklustre service. Perhaps they were having a bad day? The menu was filled with junk food. Just burgers, fries and tots. I found it hard to chose because tbh fried food isn’t really my kind of thing. In the end I settled for the Chips, cheese and gravy. The food came quickly, was fresh and hot. The chips were crispy and the gravy was very flavourful. It was really nice! Maybe a bit expensive at £7 though. Wish there had been a couple of healthier options. Downstairs is a big event area with pool, table tennis and darts. There was also a dance floor and DJ. There was a good atmosphere downstairs and it’s a bit like a warren with one room leading to another. I had a really good time in the downstairs area. Bouncers friendly and respectful. We sat outside for a while as well, great place to sit and drink. Benches a little wobbly though! My friend fell off We have some strawberry flavoured tequila shots which were surprisingly tasty and refreshing. I’m defo going back for the club night!

I went here for a friends birthday at the weekend for the bottomless disco brunch. I was slightly apprehensive as I’ve previously had bad experiences with bottomless brunch (not here) and wanted to make sure it was worth the money, especially as went for the £40 option. The service, drinks and food here were all amazing. Our server, unfortunately I didn’t get her name, was so lovely, she was constantly at our table when anyone needed another drink. Nothing was too much, and for the whole time we were there I didn't see her stop once. The food, although it took a while, was really nice, more than I expected. There was 11 of us and it was quite busy being a Saturday. I had the avocado on toast and it was delicious, the wait also wasn’t bad as we had a constant supply of drinks. A member of our group was also slightly late so they started our time from then which we didn’t even realise. I never usually leave reviews but I really appreciated the service, especially the girl who served us, and would recommend to anyone for a bottomless brunch. By the end of the brunch I was very drunk, therefore it was a success as I didn’t need to drink for the rest of the night! 10/10 would recommend. And thank to you the staff who are clearly very good at their job, we really appreciated the lovely service. Especially their patience as it can’t be easy taking that many drink orders, even more so bad people start to get more drunk! Thank You ☺️

I will preface this by saying we had booked in on the women's final day, so the place was a bit busier than usual. However, the amount of waiting we did wasn't reasonable despite this. I'd probably give 2.5 stars if Google would let me, but I don't think 3/5 is deserved. Pros: Food was honestly quite nice. We came for brunch and everyone's food was well presented and well received. Cons: Honestly can't recommend this place until the service is sorted out. We didn't receive our first drinks until nearly an hour into being there. When our iced coffees arrived, the milk must have been gone, as there was an awful taste in it. The server did not seem apologetic about this at all, however they were replaced in reasonable time. It took over an hour for our food to get to us. The server that took over our table was apologetic for the wait and told us this is how long it was taking today, which I appreciate but wish we'd been told this at the door. I think this place could be really great, but it came across as poorly managed and the staff were not on it.

Ordered the cauliflower bites and some fries that came to £12, was informed about half an hour later that there was no cauliflower and so I could only have fries - I was not refunded the difference- I wait another 15 minutes and they bring out a box of chicken- I’m a vegetarian- someone then comes and takes my order again. Food arrives over an hour after ordering, so I paid £12 for some cold and over-salted fries. Secondly - they take a £10 deposit (on top of £10 to play) for pool/darts for a hour but upon asking for the deposit to be refunded you’re told to then spend it on drinks by staff rather than receiving the full refund initially agreed. Strict on timings for 1hr playing time for pool, 15 minutes before the end of your time slot you’re encouraged to finish up early (despite all other tables being unused). Unsure of the exact reasons but saw several refund issues/queries from customers.

Absolutely delicious food, cute place and lovely ambience. The brisket toast is the best tasting food I've had in the UK in a long time. Full of flavour and the flavours all complemented each other - the tender beef which was beautifully spiced, rocket (not too much or overwhelming!), Sriracha, poached eggs, spring onions and sourdough toast were the perfect combination. Divine. My husband had the buffalo chicken waffles (which were the reason we ventured out to Shack in the first place - he woke up with a hankering for chicken waffles!) and they were also delicious (though I still think mine was the winner ). Only reason one star is lost is the service was super slow, through no fault of the waiters - they were all super and running around helping a very busy restaurant and doing their best, but it was obvious with the amount of people that they were very understaffed. Everything else... Absolutely fantastic! Definitely worth the wait.

Came in unbooked on the last night of Eat out to help out. Wasn't much space outside but there were plenty of big tables outside for us to sit at. We did have to ask for the waitress to take our order, but this was probably because there were order at table stickers around so we could have ordered on our phones if we'd have wanted. Fruit cider was so good I ended up ordering another. Salt and pepper chips were even better than the Chinese, and the chicken burger was divine. Only reason it's not getting a 5* is because my steak was overdone and unfortunately there was no steak left for a reorder, but it was 50% off anyway and I was given a free cider (yay). I chose honey and garlic glaze for my steak which was really nice (although maybe too sweet for some). Overall, good prices, great location, and friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back. Sorry, forgot to take pictures before we ate the food!!

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!! They cancelled my engagement party 2 days before the event due to a booking double they overlooked. They have disappointed 50 guests travelling from afar and left the newly engaged couples distraught! They completely ghosted us and did not attempt to find another suitable venue for us. We were met with comments from their events staff Harry ‘’this happens all the time’’ and their events manager Alex ‘’we’re not going to apologise because of all the bad reviews you and your guests are leaving’’. The whole team are completely unprofessional and do not care at all about customer service. We were left with no compensation and no replaceable venue. Thanks for ruining our whole weekend!!!! And yes, my guests will continue to leave bad reviews which is directly proportionate to their experience dealing with yourselves.

Won a competition for meal for 2 and £100 bar tab. Obviously when we got there had to explain I'd won and every time I went to bar had to explain again which was a bit annoying and this is why 4 star.... however..... we had a great night last night..... the burgers we had were bloody lovely and the portions huge so I'd defiantly recommend the food.... all the cocktails we had were really nice, especially the zombies yummy! We had 1 dodgy cocktail but that was just not to our taste.... good atmosphere and the 1sj was good though we did feel that when we we got there at 6.30pm the music was a tiny bit load for that time so chatting was shouting ha. Staff where really helpful bar 1 at the end of the night who was bit snotty..... other than that the girls that served me where friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great night and will Dec be back for more burgers

Really terrible experience having booked a joint engagement party for 50 guests over a month ago and then getting cancelled (via 1 email which could have easily been missed) 2 days before the event. They offered 3 completely unsuitable alternatives and said that if we didn’t like them they would use their industry contacts to source something suitable ‘with immediate action’. This didn’t happen. We rang and got we got told to wait 30 mins for a call back which never came. And then upon ringing for updates we got told that the person looking had left for the day and not to call again. I’ve emailed for my deposit back and they have said none of their team are at fault and they won’t apologise. Just laughable now!

Booked a table for Brunch on Christmas Eve. Turned up to an empty venue with all the staff stood round the bar so suspected something was up. One of the staff members approached to tell us that the chef hadn’t turned up and they had no idea where he was (he was supposed to arrive an hour ago). They also said that it would take 45 mins before the kitchen would be ready once he did arrive as they had to get everything ready. They told us that they would have called us if they knew but I find that hard to believe on the basis that they could have called at any point between the hour that the chef didn’t turn up on time and we arrived but they didn’t. No apology or anything, we had to go around trying to find another table somewhere at last minute.

Would give them 0 stars if I could. Got to be the worst bar/venue in Manchester. Cancelled an important event 2 days before due to a "system error" and made 0 effort to try and rectify. Even though it has been booked for a month with physical visits to the venue and conversations with staff. Got offered alternatives which were terrible and not like for like. Events team (Alex, Harry, Daniella) haven't got a clue how to run things and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery if their lives depended on it. Completely ghosted, little information or help offered, promised call backs which didn't come. When I phoned them to chase things (after being ghosted for hours) got told to stop phoning. Honestly stay well away from this place and spend your money elsewhere.

  • Will Connor

The most unprofessional company I’ve ever come across. Hospitality with zero hospitality. Cancelled a joint engagement party 2 days before the event was to go forward as they “double booked”. As I used to be a AGM of a venue knowing how bookings work there is no way this would have happened if they operated correctly I.e using res diary would have booked the venue not allowing a double booking. It seems as if a better booking came around and cancelled this one. The manager liaising with the lead booker did the bare minimum passing the blame and then clocking off after promising a phone call after 30 minutes to resolve. They are now saying they have been abused when they actually blocked their numbers.

After seeing the sign advertising 50% off food on Mondays, we made a point to go out tonight to try Shack. The service, food and atmosphere was great and we felt we may have found a regular place to come on Mondays, though when we were charged we were only givin 20% off food. As we learned you need to book in advance to receive the 50% off. The large sign outside didn't mention this and it felt misleading, and after they added a 10% service charge there isn't really much of a discount at all. We left feeling like we had been conned and will likely not come back

Visited for a colleague's leaving do. Staff were amazing, attentive and able to read the group well. Most ate and couldn't find a fault with any dish. Lots of options for the vegetarians and stacks of options for the carnivorous types. The Vim[p]to cocktail was the favourite if the evening.

This was a regular stop when visiting Manchester, haven’t been since early in the year. Called in today with my daughter and I noticed how things had improved. Tables no longer sticky, Fantastic attentive staff, same menu however food much improved. Food now served on plates rather than the tacky plastic bowls they used to use. When I came to pay the bill, I asked what’s changed? A nice gentleman who apparently is the manager not sure if manager or owner but simply said it had changed hands in June. Clearly the new manager/owner who is now in charge has made some great changes.

Booked a table for 5:15;, order was taken for drinks and food at the same time. No drinks for 20 mins after a lovely waiter noticed and came down took our drinks order again. In the meantime a group of four came in sat at the table beside us.Ordered their food and were being served their food when we asked if our order was going to be ready soon? (We booked an early slot as we were going to O2 for a concert) Our order had not gone through. We were then told it will be next in line. Not one of the four of us enjoyed our food , we rated the Philly chips the best!!! Wouldn't recommend, won't go back. Made it to the concert.,.....

Fancy cancelling a full venue booking for an engagement party 2 days before the event after having it booked for weeks. Relatives coming in from Ireland all booked hotels and flights many other guests also booked hotels and or travel. But it's ok I mean you did let the hosts know at 10pm 2 days before what more can you ask for. There's some ironic saying about arranging a p*ss up in a brewery but I can't quite remember how it goes? Perhaps I am suffering with the same amnesia that the member of staff who organised and arranged the booking is?

Interesting place to grab a burger and fries! We went here for dinner with my work colleagues. It was a Monday so the pub was empty. The service was amazing. She really knew her stuff and was able to make recommendations. The portion size is huge so it's impossible not to leave with your belly full. It terms of taste it was more than decent. The beer was nice also and quite a good price actually. It's also one of the few places in Manchester which you can get food late in the evening so that was convenient. Give it a try!

Overall a poor experience. The service was the slowest I’ve ever experienced - we ordered drinks and breakfast. Drinks came after 45 mins, food after an hour wait… There seemed to be enough staff around, but it was a complete chaos. It was funny and sad at the same time how almost every table complained waiting extremely long for their drinks and food, some people returning their drinks, some just giving up and getting food from Greggs to bring in :) The food was not even worth the wait, hard toast, no butter,… I’d not recommend this place.

Great little place for a quick bite to eat with the kids on Sunday just gone. Me and my husband got waffles and the kids got pancakes. All was eaten up and one ate the rest of the chocolate sauce on the plate!. I would eat there again without the kids so me and my husband and enjoy more cocktails. Only one hiccup was there was lipstick on one of my children's cups but it was swiftly taken care off. The staff were brilliant in every way. Highly recommended going!

The welcome here was lovely. The food, although pub food, was really tasty and fresh. We were impressed. There was enough of it too. Service was a little slow however there was a lot of attentiveness - connections being made plus time was needed to actually make the food (another reason why we feel it was all freshly made). To top it off, you get to watch a bit of sports! I'd go again.

We went to Shack as a group of 5 before going to see Blink 182 on Monday evening. It was very busy but the staff working were really helpful and attentive, particularly Chloe. They had Blink playing which was a nice little touch to the atmosphere too.

Cancelled an engagement party via email 2 days before the event, didn't even have the courtesy of picking up the phone. 40+ guests, many who have booked hotels and transport, with nowhere to go on ridiculously short notice. The Shack initially offered help but then ghosted the hosts when they took them up on that offer. Don't bother booking your event here, joke of a venue with terrible staff.

Waited about 10 mins after being greeted at the door to wait for our table to be ready. When seated we weren’t given menus while another couple who were seated straight away both got menus straight away. Then we were given one menu between the three of us and told there’s an hour wait for food so we left. Please tell guests this at the door if there’s a long wait

We did the disco brunch thought it was just a pub with a disco ball. However, the waiters were very attentive, took drinks orders quickly and were accommodating.

Great place to get comfort food, especially American type of comfort food from burgers to hotdogs. Really relaxed atmosphere, even have Sky Sports on if that is your thing. Food arrived at a fairly average speed for a Saturday night, however the quality of the food was amazing, and the portion sizes were massively generous. They were pretty full, and we didn’t have a reservation around peak food time on a Saturday - but they still accommodated us nonetheless. Good wise selection of food with interesting looking cocktails too.

Accidentally went at the time of disco brunch on a killer hangover, so did myself and the place a dis-service with the loud music but the staff were very helpful and the good high quality!

Food was cold when it was served and took ages to come out. The drinks took ages to be served as well. The place looked to be run by a load of 16 year old girls. Wouldn’t go again. More

The service was (intentionally?) slow with unattentive and poorly trained staff. The food tasted OK but looked like roadkill
