EDIT: after this bad experience, the owner reached out to me directly. She brought us back in, with a different stylist, Emma. Great haircut, she was great with kids, and my daughter had a great time! So that has been 2 positive experiences out of 3. I highly recommend Emma or Yolanda and that you specify when you book the apt if you will want the princess car! Changed this review from 2 stars to 4. I almost never leave a bad review, but we had such a disappointing experience here that I decided to. This was our second time bringing my daughter here, and our first visit was great! This visit was night and day different. First of all, they only have one "girl car" (a Frozen princess truck) available, and when I called to book the apt I made it for a girl. When we got there, there was a girl already in the truck, just starting...So, I guess they double-booked girl appointments? My daughter was disappointed because she had specifically asked me if they had a princess car, and I told her yes. But she was a good sport about it and chose the police car. Then the stylist who cut her hair was not patient at all. If my daughter (who is 3 yo) moved, or didn't sit exactly how she wanted her to, the stylist showed obvious signs of frustration. Toward the end of the hair cut, the stylist noticed my daughter needed layers put in, and i agreed, but then she brushed it off and put curling gel in her hair instead. I could tell she didn't want to take the time to go back and cut layers into it. The stylist was then very impatient again while she painted my daughters nails. The haircut wasn't very good. It was uneven and I had to ask the stylist to straighten it up. Then I ended up having to fix the haircut myself when we got home. The whole thing felt very rushed, and the stylist didn't even want to let her play in the car. We brought my daughter here for it to be a fun, special outing for her before she starts school. Thankfully, I don't think she picked up on all of this because I kept trying to be excited and talk everything up. But I left really disappointed. The only reason I left two stars instead of one is because our first visit was better, and because the haircut/nail painting combo is fun. But unfortunately, I don't think I will take my daughter here again.

We were recommended going to Sharkey's Cuts for Kids by a school friend. I first took my daughter and she loved the experience! She received a hair cut, a little braid to pull her hair out of her face, yet leaving her hair down in the back, a manicure, a gem ring, a lollipop and a balloon. Upon arriving at home, my youngest was so impressed, he too wanted to go get a hair cut. My youngest son received a hair cut, and was able to watch his choice of a kids Netflix show (just as my daughter too), and then at the end he received a lollipop and a balloon. Once we arrived home, my oldest finally gave in and wanted to go for a hair cut too! With my oldest, he opted to sit where he could play videogames while receiving a hair cut. All three of my children had the same hairstylist....Ms. Nancy. She was amazing with all three of my kiddos, and especially with my oldest as he was hesitant at first to receive a hair cut. She cut little by little and was sensitive to my son's hesitation. At the end my oldest was relaxed and so happy about his new hair cut! He also was able to pick a lollipop and a balloon at the end. I highly recommend Sharkey's Cuts for Kids and would also recommend asking for Nancy! She was patient, kind and amazing! The cost was reasonable too. Overall a great experience!

Mediocre - from bookings to cuts for my Boys. We called to double book with Emma and whoever answered the phone lied to us and booked one with Emma and one with her. Didn’t find that out until later. I took the chance but shouldn’t have. Says it includes wash and blow dry - they did neither so I think they need to stop advertising or lower price at checkout since they aren’t providing service included in what you’re paying for. After I asked while checking out, they said “we don’t do it because most kids don’t like it, but we can do it if you’d like.” So, I sent my son to at least do the blow dry but I wasn’t going to make my kids get a wash after the fact. Now that we are home, I wish we could get our money back because I hate my oldest son’s hair and my youngest son needs more buzzed off to make his style look the right way. I’m taking them somewhere else closer to go get both fixed so $72 down the drain for me. Emma was great and I’d trust her to fix the youngest son’s hair but I don’t think we will go back. Don’t really like being misled and I’m upset about my oldest son’s hair.

This place is WONDERFUL! I’m a nanny for a child who has MS and autism, and it can be hard to take him for haircuts or any sort of activity because he gets so overwhelmed. But this place, specifically his hair dresser Nancy, has been so sweet, kind, and accommodating for his special needs. I have never seen such caring service like this before. Many places have and would reject accommodating to specific needs, but there has been nothing but love and patience from Nancy. The environment is special where typical children as well as children with special needs can come in and feel not only welcomed, but excited from all the “distractions” they offer like their favorite TV shows, to sitting in fun little cars during their hair cuts. They also have lollipops and balloons for after their haircuts. I love it here so much and it was beyond a relief to find a place that welcomed my special kiddo! I would recommend this place to everyone who has a kid! Incredible experience and environment with wonderful workers who truly care. ❤️

Our recent visit to Sharkey's in Northwest Hills for our son's first haircut was a delightful experience. He's a 20-month-old with fine, curly hair, so finding the right stylist was crucial. Emma surpassed our expectations in every way, giving him a fantastic cut that perfectly matched the inspiration picture I brought in. The salon's "car" chair was a hit with our little one, allowing him to comfortably enjoy his favorite show on Netflix while Emma skillfully worked her magic. She was fast, efficient, and displayed a high level of professionalism throughout the process. If you're looking for a hair salon that understands children's unique needs, I wholeheartedly recommend Sharkey's in Northwest Hills. A big thanks to Emma for making our son's first haircut such a success. We'll definitely be returning!

This is probably the only kids hair salon I will go to as long as I live in the area! I took my daughter's there for basic haircuts. When we got there the hairdresser was super accommodating. Not only did the kids hair look great, but they had a blast. They not only got a haircut, but also got a shampoo/conditioner, hairclips with a basic updo, their nails painted, a balloon, and a lollipop. On top of that, they got ther hair cut in a frozen jeep and a police car! The bathroom also has chalkboard paint so they can color in the walls. I also had my infant with me and they didn't mind that she was babbling all over the place. This is probably the only kids hair salon I will go to as long as I live in the area!

Took my sons here for their first haircut during pandemic and it was a great experience. They implement safety precautions and the place was very clean. They were able to do both boys in a timely manner and were great working with my son who has SPD and has trouble with the noise of the clippers. All 3 staff members were amazing with my sons and they were so happy when they left there! I would recommend this place to any family who may have been putting off haircuts due to the pandemic. You will be in and out quickly and the customer service is like no other.

We love Sharkey's Cuts for Kids! So glad a location opened up closer to our home, we used to drive a long way to get our haircuts at Sharkeys Cedar Park. :) Things we love: they wash, cut, & dry your kid's hair while the kid gets to sit in a cool car chair and watch cartoons. Then, they paint your kid's fingernails and send them home happy with a ring, a new hair clip, a balloon and a dum dum. We just tried this location for the first time today and they were great with all three of my girls. Highly recommend.

Amazing! We brought in 4 kids for back-to-back haircuts, and the team handled it all smoothly and with a smile. The stylists made them all feel at home and important – from social big sister to shy little brother. The little extra touches like the nail painting, shampoo, and video games for big brother made it a fun Saturday adventure, vs a chore. On the way out, they asked "can we always come back here." Yes, yes we will. And the haircuts look fantastic, too!

I took my 1 & 4 year olds in for a cut here. Yolanda was super welcoming to my 1yr old and cut his hair exactly like I asked. Nancy was extremely patient with my 4 year old who has a really hard time with haircuts. She did a great job despite the challenge and was very knowledgeable about how to make the next experience easier for him. The facility is well equipped with video games, Netflix and fun cast chairs for the kids. We’ll be coming back.

Sharkeys provided good environment like videos,music and cars to sit in for the hair cut. Still my kids were very scared and cried during the hair cut because it was their first time.they still managed to cut their hair. Its ok if they missed some hairs over the ear because of my kids behavior. They offered to come over during the week to complete the hair cut. I am cutting one star because my baby got cut in the ear during this process.

I took my son here for his first ever haircut. The atmosphere is great for kids, but we didn't get the wash that was part of what we paid for. Also, after the cut, my son's hair was a little uneven in the back even though he held his head still pretty well during the haircut. They have a deal on Thursdays, but prices seem high otherwise, so I would recommend this place only for first time haircuts.

Took my son in (he’s 3) and has sensory issues with loud noise, especially when it’s close to his ears. This was his first haircut at an actual salon and Nancy handled him so well. She cut his hair not only exactly as I wanted her to but also acted with a lot of patience. She was comforting, accommodating, and professional. So glad we have a place to finally go for our babies! We've been here 4 times and we won't go anywhere else. My son hates haircuts and cries all the time but everybody is very accommodating and they are doing their best to make his haircut experience as pleasant as possible. Easy to schedule, fast service and all the ladies are lovely. Last visit was after reopening due to COVID-19 and they are doing an excellent job in keeping everybody safe.

Stoped by for a haircut for my son. No appointment and we got lucky and she was able to fit us in. The stylist was super friendly and fast! My 3 yr old loved the police car chair and has never behaved so well for a haircut! Itvalso was the best cut he has ever had . She did it exacly as the picture ibshowed her. It was the most awesome gaircut experience ever had!!!

I was happy with the cleanliness of the place but I was Not happy with my daughter haircut! She has very curly hair and the stylist cut way to much I asked for the smallest trim possible and she cut her hair dramatically shorter :( my son hair was cut fine but very sad about my daughter It takes so long for her hair to have length and we are back to square one!

We took our 9 month old son for his first haircut and had a wonderful experience. Sharkey’s was extra clean and safe during this time. Everyone wore a mask and we were to wash our hands/sanitize upon entering. We felt very safe and happy with our experience! Our stylist was excellent and was able to give our son a great haircut despite him being very wiggly.

Priscilla was so patient with my child who seemed to be a bit anxious during her cut. She talked her through the entire process and did such a wonderful job on the cut itself. She also spent a good amount of time detangling her hair and never once made her feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. I truly wish everyone was as kind as her, thank you Priscilla!

My Husband and I absolutely LOVED how they cut our son’s hair. They were gentle, patient and so sweet. They didn’t try to rush until they were satisfied with the cut, even when our 18M old started to cry towards the end. Loved how they let him watch Cocomelon and the character cars for them to sit on was the cutest! Our new spot for his haircuts!

Absolutely love this place! Will definetly be bringing my son back. I one hundred percent recommend this location. The stylist who cut my sons hair was so polite and gentle with him she tried to accommodate us as much as possible and she was so patient with my 6 month old! Also the quality of the cut was great as well. Pricing is reasonable.

1) They give excellent haircuts! They really pay attention to detail and ask for parent input. 2) How fun and cute is this place? So fun, so cute. Kids loved the tv and cars they got to sit in. Even my 8 year old was into it. 3) The stylists were so friendly and personable. And, of course, great at their jobs. We will definitely be back.

Emma is super friendly! Took my daughter here for her first cut. It’s a distance for us but read reviews at other places and saw this location had great reviews so it was definitely worth it. Very disappointed I had a appointment scheduled online there was a lot of traffic getting h There especially living far away from the only one I could book with and they turned my son down from getting a hair cut!!! Worst place every!!!!!!!!!!! I will not be coming back!!! Wasted my time and my gas just to come far for nothing!!!!

Couldn't imagine a better place to take our son! I've never had a wait when showing up at appoint time! Have done a full scissor cut on our son as he doesn't love the big trimmers & then nicely trim up with mini trimmers. Great job at keeping kids entertained and reading their body signal to not snip/nick them! Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! We had such a great experience with Nancy. She was so kind and patient with our 14 month old. She cut his hair exactly how we wanted and made sure that he was comfortable and entertained. She truly paid great attention to detail and made sure we were happy. Hands down the best place ive taken my son for a hair cut! Since the moment we walked in, I felt they genuinely cared to get to know my son before his hair cut. I didnt even have to tell them he doesnt like to talk but to use signs as his form of communication, they picked it up by just watching him. I strongly recomend!!!

Great service! Very attentive to what was asked and my daughter, who has a harder time with getting her haircut normally, loved the experience. The manicure thats included with all the haircuts blew me away. My daughter was treated like royalty and you could tell how much it stuck with her even after we left.

These ladies were hilarious, sweet, and very talented!! I made the mistake of trying to cut my almost 1-year-old's hair myself (boy mom rite of passage??) and they salvaged it as well as could possibly be expected. They were so friendly and made it a great experience for both of us. Will definitely be back!

terrible customer service. remember even if you have an appointment, they will never honor it, they always take other clients at the time of your appointment even if you confirm the appointment on the day of service. They only care about making quick bucks and do not pay attention to the haircut.

Emma was wonderful with our overwhelmed, melting down little girl as she got her first hair cut. It didn’t phase Emma at all and the haircut turned out so cute! Before and after pics shown. Next time I’ll go during the week when it hopefully won’t be so busy, but we’ll definitely be back.

Great experience! Everyone was super nice and helpful and my child really enjoyed her time there. The haircut was great and styled very nicely. She got to sit in a frozen Jeep, while getting her hair done, watch pj masks, get purple hair tinsel, a lollipop and a balloon. We will be back!

Horrible. The stylist didn’t make eye contact, did the haircut in 6 mins and didn’t speak a work to us. I mentioned to slow down and take her time, because the haircut was awful but she ignored me. No even line anywhere. No wash or blow dry either. Please don’t take your kid here.

Usually have a hard time with my son at the barber shop.. but this place worked wonders.. just the fact that is kid themed kept him entertained. I was able to wait for him without being next to him. He also loved getting a ballon at the end of his appointment. Thank you

Had the absolute best experience here. John was incredibly patient with my autistic child and had given him the best haircut yet. We've been to several child haircut places and this has been the best yet. Definitely coming back and would definitely recommend.

I was a little skeptical of coming to a child haircut place for my sons hair, as I am kind of picky on how its done, but RaeAnn did a great job and was able to assure my son when he wasn't comfortable with some of the parts of the cut. Definitely left happy.

I took my son to get a back to school haircut, and they did a great job! His hair looks great, and we were there for less than 30 minutes total. The kids can watch TV or play games while getting their hair cut, which is nice. I'll definitely go back!

A bit if a drive from southeast Austin, but well worth it! All of the employees were incredibly nice and happy, and they gave my son a wonderful haircut. We'll be making the drive for all of our son's haircuts now.

My son had his haircut this past weekend with Yolanda, and she was wonderful. My son is autistic and gets very nervous with haircuts, but this was by far the best experience we’ve had. Definitely coming back!

Excellent haircut experience for little kids! Every chair has a screen with cartoons and video games. Then they get a balloon and a lollipop when they’re done. Pretty much the best ever.

Emma is awesome with my kiddo! She is very patient and conscious of my child’s quirks when cutting her hair. I drive an hour one-way just to use Emma and will continue to do so!

Best place to take my 4 year old with autism. They have lots of patience and make sure he’s comfortable before and after the haircut. Price is a little high but average.
