I went in because I was experiencing numbness in my left arm, cramping in left hand, chest pain, confusion, nausea, extreme coldness, sweats, elevated heart rate, headache. I was told everything that was happening to me was a function of anxiety. The discharge paperwork said my “chief complaint” was anxiety. I never once complained of anxiety. With the onset of symptoms, I was not even a little bit anxious. I was driving to an Airbnb in San Diego and I pulled over because all of a sudden I felt significant numbness and tingling down my left arm and cramping in my left hand. I had to stop driving because it felt unsafe to drive. Not because I was anxious. And then, trying to walk it off, it got worse. Extremely bad. I suddenly had no idea where I was or how to get back to my car. Numbness and tingling extreme in left arm. Chest pain. Cramping in left hand. Extremely disoriented. This is when an impending sense of fear began to kick in. So yes, there was some anxiety, as one symptom of the greater circulatory, cardiac and neurological events occurring. Not the cause. I had to call an ambulance because I couldn’t drive. I couldn’t even find my car; I couldn’t remember where I had parked minutes earlier and felt too weak to walk. I had extremely high blood pressure in the ambulance (228, 221, 217 systolic). Blood pressure this high is called "hypertensive crisis”. I became extremely cold with sweats. I became extremely nauseous. My head started hurting so bad it hurt to move my eyeballs. At the hospital, I received a CT scan of my head. Says U Mass Med. “Depending on just which area of the brain is involved, they begin to be seen on CT scans after about 12-18 hours. This means that very early ischemic strokes are not detected on CT scans. As ischemic damage continues to evolve, however, the additional changes make these areas visible on CT scans.” The CT scan was performed within 4 hours of the onset of symptoms. So, per medical standards, not enough time to show a brain bleed. Despite this, I was not held for observation. I was discharged. At discharge, I was given paperwork stating "get help right away if you have severe pain in your abdomen, you have sudden, unexplained chest discomfort, you have sudden, unexplained discomfort in your arms, back, neck or jaw, you suddenly start to sweat or your skin gets clammy, you feel nausea or you vomit, you suddenly feel light headed or dizzy, you have severe weakness, or unexplained weakness or fatigue. you heart begins to beat quickly, or it feels like it is skipping beats, you have trouble walking or moving, you have problems with speech, understanding or vision, or you feel confused." I had all of these symptoms, plus blood pressure that put me in the category for hypertensive crisis, so much pain in my head it hurt to move my eyeballs, muscle spasms, and RBCs in my urine, and I was discharged. Had to request copies of my blood work probably 7 times before it was given to me, and it was only given to me at discharge deliberately so I couldn’t ask questions. Was not informed there was significant amount of blood in my urine; I had to find this out by looking at the paperwork myself to see this. Was not explained why this might be because I was given the paperwork at the time of discharge. When I asked the security guard at the entrance what he would do, he said go to another emergency room, but I couldn't request a taxi from the Sharp Emergency room to another because medical transport of a critical patient was illegal. Whether or not anxiety is included as one symptom of many in a constellation of symptoms that include my brain, my heart, and my blood flow, Sharp hospital named the whole entire condition anxiety, and put me on the street in a city I don’t know at all in the middle of the night. Completely disoriented, with continued chest pain and nausea and pain, numbness and weakness on my left side, blood in my urine, and muscle spasm. A hospital that would call this medical care is sickening. It is reckless. It is wrong. It is completely unacceptable "care".

Horrible hospital. Horrible staff. UPDATE OF REVIEW: As of Nov. 29th, I called my family member who is at Sharp Memorial Hospital. I called because I was unable to stay with him overnight. It is now past 9AM and hospital staff still has not brought in his food. The issue with bringing in food late or his food going missing has been ongoing and we have expressed our concerns with the nurses/staff. When we were on floor 7 -- everyone was very prompt with deliveries. We are on floor 3 now and everyone seems to not be communicating well or something. They contiously either "lost" the patients food and or bringa it in hours later. I will continue to update this review until the staff decides to figure it out. I have a family member staying in Sharp Memorial Hospital. All of the nurses have been wonderful and have made me and my family member feel very welcome except for one nurse by the name of Deb. From the beginning she did not seem like she cared and did not have any empathy and would forget to bring in my family member's food. The way she talked to us was not like any of the other of the nurses and it felt very passive aggressive. During our stay, most of our nurses would bring in the patient's food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I completely understand if some days if it's not their job - but I feel like it is still the patient's nurse's job to at least check-in to see whether or not someone else brought in their food. The food was left on the counter at the nurses' station past 3pm. I knew that the food was set up to our floor because I called the downstairs kitchen had told me that they had already sent the food upstairs since 12pm. By the time I left the room around 2/3pm -- I saw my family member's food sitting there on the counter still so I went to bought lunch for them instead. Other than that -- everyone else and all the other AMAZING nurses were great. Special shoutout to nurses on Floor 7 too. Amazing staff and we are so thankful for Floor 7!

I am a former RN who has worked in several hospitals in california. I suffered a comminuted fracture of my left radius after a 12 ft fall onto a brick fire pit. After surgery the plates and screws in my arm became infected and I was admitted to Sharp memorial hospital for repeat surgery, a total of three so far. The one major thing that stands out is there is a highly consistent culture of care and respect for the patient by all staff, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapy, nurse assistants, facilities maintenance, and even the staff that brings meals and takes away trays. In 25 plus years I have not experienced such consistency and professionalism in one hospital. There is of course a major nursing shortage in California, and many of my nurses were relatively new to the profession. Major shout out to HR and recruiting for finding such caring, capable, competent, and friendly nurses. I am highly impressed. Oh and I also have to share that the food they serve the patients is incredible. They hire actual chefs to design menus and deliver high quality meals. I was in the hospital on Thanksgiving and the turkey they served me was one of the best I've ever had. And chimichurri steak? Delicious. Dr. Alberton, my orthopedic surgeon, is astounding. Down to earth, very professional, highly competent, friendly, and shoots me straight. He has been very proactive in saving my arm, and has been readily accessible at all times. And I give a special mention here to my nurse Taylor. She has the mind of a steel trap, a genuine and caring heart, great sense of humor, and tremendous respect for her patients. I got into the nursing profession because I truly and genuinely care about healing others. She has the right motivation and Sharp memorial hospital is lucky to have her. I have surgery number four coming up in 6 weeks and knowing I'll be well taken care of really use a lot of the stress during this time. Thank you Sharp memorial hospital!

You will be judged extremely especially for mental health when you bang your head against a ladder at work while slipping down... I'm very upset the way I was treated at your facility 12/05/2023 You treated me like I was crazy when I fell 6 ft at work and hit my head. Me being confused should be normal but instead you treat me like a psych patient because I have religious views and don't want foreign objects in my arm I was raised that way. Unless it's completely necessary to keep me alive then I don't need it. I had horrible anxiety throughout the entire stay and just wanted to leave. But instead of getting a cat scan for my head you people wanted to use me and my husband because we've amazing insurance federal actually. So you people oh DOCTOR MARK ZHANG ORDERED A CHEST X RAY AND EKG WHEN I DIDNT NEED EITHER OF THOSE. I don't want you to get a paid off of tests that aren't relevant to the issue at hand it seems like you're just using me and my money. Every person in there made me feel horrible because I was anxious and they judged grunted and laughed about it with co workers. I thought I'm supposed to trust you with my health especially after I've hit my head but instead your employees rather gloat and joke than actually help patients feel better and know their surroundings. This emergency room and hospital is a complete joke. I will be speaking with my lawyer once my injury heals up hope to hear what will be done about this matter, probably won't because you people get away with anything just because you've the name "doctor".

Do not go to this ER for any mental health issues. If youve already checked in and you have Dr Matthew Healy running the er department you should leave immediately or risk further health care trauma. In my opinion and experience, finding help to prevent even going to the ER is better than going to Sharp Memorial. I was seen here last year and while I was waiting to hear back from my psychiatric consult that was telehealth Dr Healy came into my room and accused me of not taking my medication. It was quite traumatic as the main vein of treating mental health is medication compliance, it gets pounded into you constantly, and even after years of medication compliance having a health professional tell me “youre lying and making things up” sucked. On my way out I got a copy of my bloodwork so I could see what he was seeing and I saw that he had tested me for the wrong medications. So of course i would be negative for a drug that im not prescribed and dont take every day. The drugs that i do take every day, he did not test me for accurately. I did report him to the hospital, however, i could tell nothing would be done so I figured I could at least come on here and warn others. (No need for patient services to reply to this review as I have already communicated with your department)

I came to the er today after having severe pain dr. Lee choose to stigmatized me which wouldn't be the first time, but shame on the doctors who do that when a person has been crying for 6 hrs straight. And their blood pressure, and heart rate is extremely elvated at the point where my blood pressure is over 165/97, and heart rate practically 120 per min , and telling them their fine , and they wont make a true yet that patient will be fine. They shouldn't be considered doctors they should be considered judges as thats whats they do to patients the best interest isnt the point. Thats what matters and thats clear. They min get 338,0000 a yr being doc in ca what does it matter to truly care for thats patient, or their well being at hand. Ecen if only in the er. i told the genuine story this yet didn't, and still doesn't matter. GOD BLESS, BUT IT ISnt worth it when someone is at the end of their mental, and psychical limits combined that they need help, but that doesn't matter because if their pervious history. they arent worth the time, and never be considered worthy of help. Thanks for not setting a good example yet again!, and lets make it know be that sharp hospital has had their system hacked more than once, so no.ones info is truly safe!!!

I have had several procedures for my liver cancer at sharp and the staff have been very helpful and attentive. Although, Karla/Carla from the reception needs to work on her attitude and have a little empathy for the sick, after all she does work at a hospital. I am always tired due to my health condition.I was not able to answer my phone and she left a voicemail. I returned the call and ask her the procedure I was going to get she told me to listen to her voicemail with a sassy attitude. She kept repeating that she left me voicemail and that if I didn’t confirm they wouldn’t scheduled me, I obviously needed to know the type of surgery I was going to get. I passed the phone to my wife and she continued with the attitude. My wife asked for a different date for my procedure and she kept asking what is it that you need to do that you can’t come to the date that I am giving you (with an entitled voice). Lady I have Cancer!! I have other appointments!! I just asked to speak to a supervisor and I am currently waiting for a call back! She needs to adjust her entitlement attitude and have more empathy for the sick.

I am thankful for the people at this hospital. I went out of my way to go here, even with a closer sharp ER. They are kind, empathetic. I was not happy to be in the ER, But everyone from admission to leaving was lovely. There was one nurse who was especially kind and helpful to me in the ER. I think his last name was Cruz. I did not catch his first name as I was quite nervous and anxious. He spoke kindly and told me about anxiety calming solutions like breath work and focusing. He was personable, checked in multiple times to make sure I was comfortable and if he could get me anything. He is an exemplary model of healthcare. My room was clean, the doctor I saw was a gentleman around 40-50ish, tall, slender, grey hair. He was very to the point and a good sort. I apologize for not remembering his name. He was kind, reassuring, and helpful. My only qualm is for the bathrooms, as there was urine and toilet paper on the floors around the toilet, but that's not the folks fault who helped me. Thank you to the kind people of this ER, and in the nicest way possible, I hope to never have to see anyone here again!

Brought my grandmother for a procedure and it was the worst experience!!! They scheduled her to check in at 5:45am but when we show up(Early). She isn’t going to be let in Until 8 am. They have us going back and forth from memorial to the outpatient pavilion 4 + times. Stating in radiology she’s not in the system etc etc. It’s absolutely ridiculous. The procedure had been scheduled well in advance and I have no idea why the staff couldn’t figure out where she is suppose to be. I would like to know why the anesthesia team would schedule her so early in the morning if NO ONE was going to be there ?!? Why radiology would say she has no appointment or not in her system and then suddenly after her appointment time she was actually scheduled to be there at her appointment time. It makes absolutely no sense !!! It feels amazing to have receptionist and nurses chit chatting and having great time while patients are waiting for them to correct mistakes as well ! Great job Sharp Memorial ! This hospital deserves negative stars. It’s absolutely unorganized and a horrible experience for patients!

Sharp Memorial is a wonderful establishment. Nurses like Tammi, Nikki, Karla (!), Natalia, Jazmin and Sherry, have made my stay comfortable. Tammi has been especially helpful when I'm lucky enough to have her as a Nurse Aid. Her bedside manner is impeccable. Surgeon, Dr. Degraft-Johnson is amazing, and has given me new Hope despite being faced with despair. My sister was born here and I believe my nephew will be as well. ***** I have to add to my review as I've had to return to Sharp for more major surgeries. Dr. Xu, the podiatrist performed a neat surgery on my foot and I am impressed with his work. I am healing quickly and he follows-up faithfully. My nurses (with only a couple exceptions) have been so friendly and compassionate and my pain is managed well while I am in their care. Dr. O'Rourke is by far, my favorite hospitalist! The manager is a pleasant person who has visited me twice during this stay, always assuring that my experience is positive. Sharp Memorial is my hospital of choice in San Diego, I still highly recommend them. Thank you Sharp Memorial Hospital!

Worst Hospital ever. I came to the ER. The front nurse was somewhat rude. The Vitals guy was pretending to type my symptoms up even though nothing was actually typing on the screen. He was rolling his eyes at me and in this “I don’t really care” mood. A “doctor” was standing too close and invading my personal space and was more like a police officer than a doctor who cares. The room was still filthy, full of trash and biohazardous materials. And a lady came in and mopped up while I waited for care. Towards the end another lady who was going to “register” me even though I was already in their system refused to let me see what was on my record even though she said she was just registering me.. even though I was already in there. She even refused to show me what it said and changed information before I could see her screen. This is not only the worst hospital of any place that was supposed to “care” about you, they showed the opposite and showed they didn’t care. Only one nurse who saw me spent a little time to talk and express some care.

I took my wife because she had abdominal pain and had been throwing up for a while and our experience that night was terrible which is a shame, I always thought it was a great hospital but that night she was not helped out at all, she mentioned more than once that she couldn't stand the pain. I was not let into the waiting room because of covid guidelines only patients were allowed in but yet I clearly saw couples and people who were together. As I waited outside I became even more upset, there was not any type of seating area for guests or some type of make shift waiting area, there senior citizens outside on there feet in the cold. Some time passed and my wife's pain got worse and the staff still did nothing. We ended leaving driving across into Mexico, once they took her in they found out she had appendicitis and was going into surgery all within a couple hours. I was so disgusted with the service and how terrible our health care system is run. Truely a joke, and just outright sad. I hope something changes.

I had a collapsed lung. It sucked. A lot. And I was terrified and in pain for two and a half weeks. The staff of Sharp (in June 2018) were fantastic and miracle workers. All should be given sainthood for what they do, the amount of patients they care for, and more. Being a frightened autistic person I was not having a good time of it, & the nurses did their damnest to aid me and give me peace of mind considering the unwanted circumstances. Nurses like these give you hope in humanity. Oh & much thanks to the doctors who are too good at their job. Like, each situation is a walk in the park. And... the food and the environment. Holy cow did they try & make up & then some for the ridiculous pricing of the American healthcare system. I was not expecting that delicious expertly made food. I'd credit those dishes just as much to keeping me sane & helping in my recovery. All in all, a great hospital that shows you what humanity is capable of in all its miracles and hard work.

If you go to this "ER" be patient, as the staff is doing their best! People are seen not by arrival time but by their medical aid needed. Bless the staff for all they do! My wife came here to be treated and have a "CT Scan" the check in staff at the Hospital ER were excellent. I was able to enter the hospital with my wife. This is a very busy ER. Everyone connected with her care was outstanding (I wish I had all their names to thank them as well) Dr. Saul Levine attended to my wife, explaining in detail her "Concussion" and why she did not feel well. Tanya was the discharged nurse, she covered all paper work with us, she explained certain thinks my wife should and should not be doing and computer work was one of them, excellent catch Tanya since this is 99 percent of her job.Tanya is very caring and professional. Thank you again. As of this posting, my wife is doing much better.

  • Cindy Schofield

I had a car accident and the first 3 days was great from my surgery, ICU nurse, and doctors. After my second surgery, the nurses in the recovery room were horrified and careless to my tremendous pain. Then the unit nurses and the charge nurse did not call the on call doctor during the night when my pain after the surgery was intense and the present medications were not enough. My pain was uncontrolled for about 15 hours. At last, the trauma doctor denied my request for hospital bed, bedside commode and shower chair while I was no weight baring on Lower left extremity and had broken ribs. One of the case manager there had terrible attitude. All these added to my trauma and stress while I was going through a lot already. I hope these won’t happen to anyone anymore.

Went to ER for breathing problems and fatigue so bad that I could not lift my head off the pillow. For many months this had been getting worse and worse, I thought I was done for. The doctor was helpful and ordered brain MRI and a lot of other tests. The nurse on the other hand was treating me as though I was a liar. She disconnected me from the oxygen as soon as the doctor let the room, just to spite me. I was the sickest patient she'd probably ever seen, in agony, yet she was treating me like a fraud. And I had no energy to argue with her. I went from swimming 70 laps a day to being unable to lift my head because I love being bedbound for months. Some people were just not meant to be in healthcare, some people at THIS very hospital.

I was referred by a triage nurse to go to ED department at Sharp Memorial so they could do better work up on me than an urgent care. I sat knowing maybe awhile checked in at 11:00am. As I watched the waiting room get fuller by the minute, I waited & enquired why people where getting their blood done. I was told no orders were put in, that none were needed. I was finally called back to a room after waiting 5 hours. First thing they did was draw blood?? Why after being told none was needed. I get short staff, and people have to wait. But I felt singled out because no one was able to help me. So after an 8 hour day in the ER at Sharp Memorial ED department. Once again not shocked by the lack of care and concern for me as a patient.

  • E Bri

Emergency treatment is great. Sometimes you may have to wait to be seen, but that is par for the course in a busy ER hospital. But if you went to an Urgent Care center and they transfer you to an Emergency Care center, you get quicker service to be seen and tests done quicker. Waiting was done in the Urgent Care, and Emergency Care is an extension of that service. Due to Covid-19 (didn't that change everything?), they don't allow accompaning persons with the patients inside. If you are an accompaning person and wait, waiting is down outside. To use restroom facilities, they have some porta-potty stalls. They won't let you inside. Be that as it may, Sharp is a good health care system.

ER went fast and smoothly no hiccups and got out in an hour and 10 minutes, Nurses were wonderful, Doctors on the other hand..... I have been experiencing 9/10 head pain due to a sinus infection and the doctor seems completely ignorant to it. He simultaneously chose to ignore all other of my symptoms and just gave me a nasal steroid spray. All previously told information to the nurse(s) wasn’t even looked at, I told him I had ongoing bleeding on the inside that came out with mucus and he completely ignored it. The “Doctor” talked with me under 3 minutes without looking at my information sheet. 5/5 Nurses 1/5 Doctor. Honestly might as well pay the nurses more.

My mom went in to the ER complaining of stomach pain and was immediately admitted into the hospital. The following day she had surgery and spent a few days recovering at Sharp hospital. Our whole experience was absolutely great, we wanted to thank our nurse Erin that to great care of our mother and the staff we interacted with on the 5th floor. Erin was very caring, compassionate and understanding when it came to my moms care, we couldn’t have asked for a better nurse. Dr. Wintz is a great surgeon! And we also wanted to thank her for her bedside manner and for preforming surgery on my mother and alleviating her pain. Thank you so much! - Pia and family

ER is super quick, took my dad to ER for un specified GI bleeding, and did endoscopy. Even though I made a problem for the nurse, I felt bad, however so far choosing sharp is a good experience. I was considered between Sharp and Scripp, I decided to chose Sharp. I have never disappointed with my choice. The RN, doctor, CPT, transporter, nurse assistance are so great, they are very thorough, take care of every details, always ask if we need helps. Especially RN Patrich , he works night shift , no words to say , he's fabulous, amazing, knowledgeable, kind, empathy, we were lucky when we could be taken care by him. Thank you sharp's . Thank you Patrich.

  • Maiva La

I went here because one morning I got this burning sensation in my chest and started vomiting out of nowhere. My dad got mad and decided to call the hospital, I was escorted into the ambulance van and then met this one guy who was FILLED with love, joy, and peace, I'm very grateful for him. Anyways, he left me afterward, but I'm pretty sure that I fell in love with him. One and a half years later, he's still on my mind. Thankful to have met him! Overall, I had a positive experience at Sharp and the staff that took care of me while I was already in the hospital were very kind! Thank you! And I'm still thinking about this guy -_-

  • Lauren Osada

I had maxillofacial surgery here with Dr. Berger. I had a great experience from start to finish. The preop experience was a bit hectic because they were changing units for construction, but it was still pretty smooth. I had a great surgery, no complications, and didn’t remember waking up in PACU, thanks to anesthesia! Once I got to my room, I spent 2 nights in the hospital. My pain was managed well the entire time. All of the nurses were wonderful and the discharge experience went well, although it took longer than expected. I would recommend Sharp Memorial to anyone considering surgery, you will be well taken care of!

  • Amy Smith

Sharp was flying a pride flag in front of their hospital! That is extremely outrageous! Why would a hospital place something so controversial at the front and center of their facility where people come to get medical treatment?! It was so offensive and unnecessary for a hospital to throw this in EVERYONE'S face not considering ALL of their patient population! I'm immensely insulted and disappointed by their choice of hanging a pride flag right outside the entrance of the hospital and FORCING everyone to see it right before entering their facility. Sharp should be greatly embarrassed and ashamed of themselves!

  • Ann Pixel

Terrible experience, waste of your time and money. I’ve waited for three hours to get to the doctor who ordered a CT scan. I’ve waited for an hour and a half to get the CT scan done just for him to come in and tell me he didn’t realize I was thin and I have to take an oral contrast pill for the scan to work. And wait for an hour for the pill to work. I’m glad they made me wait for all the time to realize I have to take a pill which takes an hour to kick in. How can you not realize that someone is thin when you talk to them at first and do the physical examination. Overall, 5h spent to do a simple ct scan

  • Michael McGee

I was seriously injured at my workplace and regained consciousness in the trauma center where I spent the next week. I could not have been cared for by a better team of providers. From the physicians and nurses to the technicians and support staff I received not only the best medical care I have ever had, but every single person was genuinely dedicated to making my stay as positive and healing and comfortable as possible. I am so grateful to all of you for your love and dedication to my well being. Truly outstanding team of professionals. I will always be grateful.

  • Amanda Anderson

This hospital is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable staff. I feel like I get amazing care any time I need to go to this hospital, or any Sharp facility. I was here for 6 days and the care I received was great. I felt safe knowing my care was in good hands. I had the same doctor and nurses every day, which was nice because I didn't need to tell them why I was there 5 million times. I was never not told what was going on and was always very well informed. The cleaning staff kept my room tidy, and the CNA's offered to change my bedding daily.

I was at Sharps Memorial Hospital 2 years ago, came right off the streets.. homeless 5 years, in the hospital with osteomyelitis.. spent a month there getting better.. long story short, I'm back home in New Jersey with my family and it all started at this hospital.. thank you so very much for helping me get home and get better.. I now work at a hospital myself, doing housekeeping for now! I hope the nurses and everyone involved in the process get to hear this message, thank you so much! ❤

  • Patricia Sleek-Castañeda

Just do yourself or your family members a favor...DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL.! The Doctors here have absolutely no clue what they are doing. The only good thing I can say is that the Nurses on the floors are good, not in the ER but on the floors they are. I will never bring my mother back to this hospital ever again. We are now with Scripps Hospital and they already have a great care plan for my mother. If you want great care and want to live then avoid this Hospital completely.

  • Emilee Brassieur

I came into the ER on Tuesday not feeling well and my nurse was mike. Didn’t catch his last name but he was very understanding and friendly. Didn’t treat me like a patient but more like a friend. Hospitals can be scary but he made my stay there very pleasant and I was admitted and he gave me all the heated blankets I needed. And it’s not only him it’s your whole staff that makes this hospital no. 1 in my book

  • Lynn Lynn

I have feel nurse as Sandi and their members like my friends , care for me , nice and friendly . ( I feel like I am at home ) when I was in the hospital . If there are more stars I will give them to 10. Sharp hospital is the BEST service. Sandi also send card to home . A little thing like that help your patient feel warm and happy. Wondering! • Jenn Rebello

Back in March 2022 I was life flighted to Sharp Memorial. I spent nearly 5 weeks in the trauma unit on the 4th floor. Every nurse, from registered, certified, floor and charge was amazing. If it was not for the empathetic staff I probably would have given up but these nurses made sure that I would make it. I cried the day I left and hope those nurses know what an amazing impact they had on my healing.

  • Jeremy.Decker

I stayed at Sharp Memorial for 32 days and it was an amazing experience (despite my diagnosis). The care team all the way from the Admins, Nurses, Support Staff and Doctors have all been wonderful. No task was too tall and they really made me feel at home for my very long stay. I am so happy that I was under the care of Sharp and will continue to use their services throughout my healthcare journey.

Best service ever… I was their today for umbilical hernia by Dr. Imler.. Nurses were super nice I have met two Christian nurses which were filled with joy and peace…very thankful for the surgeon, Doctors and the nurses… Parking was free for all day long… I have checked in at 10:30 and discharged by 01:30pm Companions must have a vaccination card to allow them to stay with the patient.

  • Alicia Alexander

I received more care and compassion in this ER than I have any place that I've had to frequent in the past year, due to ongoing pain from an injury. Sure, the wait was long, but this is an ER. I didn't feel like I was just sitting around unattended. The staff was great. I can't say I want to go back, because who does, but I'd make the drive past my closest ER again, if I needed to.

The facility is clean and staff was really nice (everyone of them). I was in ER at about 10am for gallbladder inflammation. It was the most painful thing I ever experienced. They settle me in a room and had the equipment coming to the bed. Then I was out of surgery at 7pm that night. I was released the next day. I have all the good things to say about this facility and the people.

If anyone needs blood work done and has a phobia of needles request for it to be done by Patricia H. I have had extreme anxiety and panic attacks with any needles to the point that I've avoided medical care because of my fears. Patricia is the most gentle and skilled phlebotomist that has ever taken my blood. She is kind and warm and comforting and I appreciate her so much.

A family member had surgery there. Most staff were friendly. They were efficient and kept me updated. The surgeon called right after to let me know how the surgery went. The parking structure is just awful, those parking spaces are perfect for golf carts. The turns are tight and it's like driving through an obstacle course with all the signs and cones.

Just wanted to say thank you. My partner came in today and after two ER visits at sharp Chula Vista, you guys were able to diagnose her. We had such a hard time and left sharp Chula Vista really worried and scared. Thank you for taking her pain seriously and using resources to investigate and make her feel better. We appreciate the care and competency.

I walked into the hospital hoping for a prescription for an anti depressant. I was held as their prisoner for 4 days and charged thousands upon thousands of dollars for the “services rendered”. Not a doctor or nurse treated me with even an ounce of respect the entire time I was there. Every single person I interacted with deserves the worst

Awesome experience with a total hip replacement done by Dr. Muldoon and his team. Nurse Jill was a star ⭐️ and truly made us feel cared for. I can’t thank her enough for making us feel comfortable before the procedure! Also, a special shout out for Nurse Kristie and Nurse Misato for being so kind. I now understand the Sharp Experience.

I fell unconscious in a mental health hospital and was taken to the ER of this hospital place while I was unconscious. I woke up a day later without their help and without my clothes, and was driven back to the mental health hospital without them. I lost $140 of apparel because they later said no one kept my clothes.

Went in with breathing difficulties. Staff was extremely attentive, helpful and patient. Scans, blood and cts were done extremely quick and I was notified on a regular basis on their status The next day I received a call from attending doctor checking on me and how I was doing. Very awesome. 5 stars to this hospital

I took my brother who had renal cancer to the ER at Sharp San Diego and could not believe how heartless the staff were and could care less what we heard. He was in a room near the nurses station and you could hear them talking about him and how he was going to die and hopeless. Will Never use this Hospital again.

  • Stephen Porcher

Great staff. They will take good care of you. The only issue I had was the lack of parking even with a huge parking garage, I had the drive all five floors three times to find. Parking spot. Then they charged me $15.00 to visit my father after the hospital will make thousands of dollars of his surgery.

the worst hospital to go to if you are from out of town. I had to go to sharp emergency while on vacation and was diagnosed with a DVT. now that I'm home my dr is trying to treat me and sharp will NOT comply with the transferring of my tests. stay away, hopefully you peeps in SD have better luck.

Nurse rude after quit a few that came after me got room I inquired “we don’t do first come first serve. More rooms will open up at 11”. No other explanation and it was 1015a A total of 3 hours and walked out with no answers. I did not know a possible blood clot was not life threatening.

  • MrRBKSR

Came in for mild heart attack to emergency room, 5 hour wait all the while had to hold it a bay with my nitro pills. Guards yelling at patients, intrusive pat downs and searches to get in! Ambulances and pig cars double parked blocking entrance to parking structure. Still in pain!

  • Annalisa Cappuccio

It's a great hospital. I was in vacation in San Diego and I had a mini stroke. I was hospitalized there for 5 days. They were amazing. In few days I had a diagnosis and they fixed the hole in my heart that caused the stroke. Amazing staff. Thank you for what you did for me.

  • Alexa Ordonez

Went here a couple of years back after I got into a car accident. Nurses were very kind and understanding. I don't remember the name of the nurse who treated me, but her eyeshadow matched her scrubs! I'm glad and grateful to have been taken care of such a caring person.

E.R. and M.R.I. ignoring my complaints of dripping sensation at the base of my skull after vehicle accident and feeling like I was chewing aluminum foil. Medical record stating no internal bleeding opposite of complaint for E.R. visit. Given ibuprofen and a blanket.

Pretty hit & miss. Yes they did some things right, and there were some good nurses. But also some really bad care, dietary tried but failed, the nurses couldn't care less if patients ate or not. If possible, do not leave your loved ones alone in this hospital.

Medicare recipients planning to utilize SHARP for primary care will need to ditch Medicare Advantage Plans in next month's Open Enrollment Period and opt for JUST PLAIN OLE MEDICARE no "Advantage Plan" otherwise find a new primary care provider.

  • Omnyah coolkid208

I only gave 2 stars because of the love, support and compassion of the nurses. Doctors are a 0 star. Surgery was delayed 3 days. On the day of surgery again it was delayed an hour bcs the surgeon and the anastiolgist were no where to ne found.

  • Brian Pratt

Do not take your loved ones to this emergency department. I can’t stress this enough. Our nurse was literally in tears due to the callous and inhumane treatment that the ER doctors were showing patients in severe distress (she will not work

  • Christian Faulk

I have to say that I had an excellent experience. Dr Goel made me feel as if I was her only patient. Not one foot in the door and the other out. And my nurses, Leigha W. and Shirley were both excellent on all levels. Leigha has that healing

  • Queenie

Worst hospital ever!! Never bring my loved ones here to seek medical help again. Took my husband there the first time because he was feeling weak for months and recently can’t lift his arms or legs. They did nothing there and sent him home.

my dad had tough time with emergency service in this hospital. he had a stomachache, the pain was going badly and we asked for the bed for him. i did understand and empathy when they said there are not enough bed for patients. after blood

On Thursday I was involved in a hit and run accident between my motorcycle and a truck. I was taken to this hospital. I want to express my gratitude for all the docs and nurses whom took care of me during my initial recovery. I was in 424

I recently spent three days at Sharp Memorial for a bad burn to my finger. From the moment I arrived in the ER to the time I left days later I was treated with respect and care by all members of the staff. Without exception everyone was

10 MONTHS LATER, and I still can’t help to think, WHY? Every day, I think and miss my mother while at the same time, I try to let all bitterness/anger go and not let what Sharp Memorial had done to our poor mother hang over my head.

  • Tanya Alfaro

I had surgery there a few days ago. The doctors and nurses were amazing, attentive, helpful. I received copies of everything I had done and about my condition. The 3 days I was there I felt very well taken care of and safe.

  • James Erickson

Went in for surgercal procedure and there is construction going on so not sure how one uses short term parking structure. Discharged patient pickup is also affected by construction, and is in a new temp place.

  • Kassandra Romo

I've been here several days now and I just don't even know how to describe the nurses , they are truly amazing. Much love to the hard workers that attended me during my stay. Truly happy with this hospital

  • Kenny Terry

My wife was admitted to the Hospital thru the ER. From the ER to being admitted. Everyone connected with her care was outstanding. She felt very comfortable and cared for. The staff is excellent.

  • Karen L. Wall

Sharp Memorial Hospital is the best in the San Diego area. They have only single occupancy rooms that are clean and comfortable with an amazing staff. I would recommend Sharp Memorial to anyone.

  • nancy “Nance” Zaragoza

Drove here from LA and my 9 year old grand daughter had to sit outside in the cold because she wasnt of age and couldn't go in. No lobby and no cafeteria access. So horrible!
