I don't think I've ever written a negative Google review. In fact, I went back and forth for awhile on if I should write this. After trying to privately reach out to the business multiple times, Its been 5 months and I've had no response. My family has been coming to this bakery for 40 years. My grandparents came here, my parents came here, my siblings and I came here, and I planned on bringing my future children and possible grandchildren here some day. Every major moment in our lives has been shared with these cakes. So when I got engaged I called right away. I was told I was too far out to put an order in, understandable. They told me to call back in a few months. So I called a few months later, and was told to call back maybe a month before the wedding. I called a month before- the person on the phone seemed... annoyed, maybe just overwhelmed, but she took my order (1 chocolate fudge, 1 Baileys, 1 white chocolate strawberry... no extra writing/decoration or anything crazy). She told me that in the future I should call no sooner than 1 week before I need it. Fair enough. (We live out of state now otherwise I would have just gone in-person.) I always tried to be polite, to the point, and understanding when I called. So a week before our wedding I called to check in. The person that answered seemed confused and said they didn't have an order for me. After a bit of back and forth, I was surprised to find out they recently changed ownership. She said they were a few weeks booked out on orders and couldn't really help me. I called back a little later and asked if I could talk to the new owner. I was told they weren't available but they would forward my message. The woman on the phone was kind and sympathetic, even when I awkwardly broke down crying. She said she would try to see what she could do. I ended up being able to pick up 1 premade frozen cake the morning of my wedding. It was fine, it reminded me of childhood and family, but the situation still left a bad taste in my mouth. I never heard from the new owner. Over the last few months I've called and left a voicemail once or twice, reached out over Facebook, briefly left reviews on Yelp and Google asking them to reach out... and never heard anything. So I took the reviews down and waited, thinking maybe they were just busy/overwhelmed and would eventually get back to me. That's when I noticed a post I had made to the new owner's Facebook page had disappeared. I hate to make assumptions, or sound like an insensitive/entitled a-hole... but I think it's fair to say that if you have time to go on Facebook and take down a post, you have time to message/call someone back. Making a mistake, especially for a wedding, is disappointing for sure, but completely understandable. Ignoring someone and refusing to acknowledge your mess-up is not. I never wanted nor asked for any sort of refund, discount, or freebie. An apology, or at the very least some sort of acknowledgment would have been nice. Honestly despite my experience I wish nothing but the best for Simply Desserts, and the new owner. I understand that owning a business is a lot of work, especially taking on one with so much history and high expectations. I appreciate you keeping this Seattle treasure alive. But I will add that after reading some of the recent negative reviews, it might help to be more up-front/transparent about the change in ownership. I don't believe it's mentioned on the website, Google, or Facebook page. While I and my family might not be back, at least not for awhile, I'll still recommend the white chocolate strawberry cake I've loved since I was little (attached photo). I hope that maybe this can be a reminder that while cake is sweet, treating people with kindness and dignity is pretty sweet too.

For quality of cakes, this place is great, if pricey, but not so much as other cake-oriented boutiques like Lady M. They have interesting and classic flavors of cakes. If you want to cater a party or have top-tier desserts at other events, I would recommend this business. That said, the reason for my ranking is due to the way business is conducted in the store. On multiple visits, I have felt that whoever is responsible is not taking some simple steps to make the location more customer-friendly. For example, there is not much space in the store, which is understandable given the location, but there is no signage or anything of the sort to indicate prices or selection that might help understand quickly and efficiently what is available and what to expect. They can only have one person browse and shop at the same time; it is awkward to navigate, even for casual browsing. Speaking of awkward, on my recent visit, there were some specialty desserts on the counter alongside where they normally have smaller, non-cake items. I was told at time of checkout that these could only be purchased through Venmo to an unknown third-party, a "friend" who lacked a storefront of their own. Venmo is a service I don't use and don't want to use; I didn't even have my phone on me. This highly unorthodox method of doing business was more than a little awkward for me and spoke poorly of Simply Desserts' management, as I felt frustrated and confused in the moment by being asked to do something outside the system of consumer protection. There were other ways to facilitate their friend that would not have burdened the customer, but it felt like Simply Desserts either couldn't be bothered or wasn't willing to take on the liability. Maybe they do things differently down in Fremont but some things are the way they are for good reason. I'm hesitant to visit again, despite the quality of the products sold.

I’ve had a couple of slices of cake now since the new ownership, and overall the cake is fine. A lot of people local to the area remember what it used to be and it’s definitely not the same, so I think reviews are extra harsh because of that. I tried an old recipe cake on my first visit and it was disappointing because it was really dry. This time I decided to try a new recipe slice so I wouldn’t be comparing to the old version. I got the Samoa cake. The flavors worked well together, and the frosting was stellar, especially the coconut frosting layered in. The portion was also generous, which was good because the prices were increased by nearly two dollars and prices weren’t posted anywhere. Unfortunately the actual cake was really dry, which seems to be something other customers have noticed as well. I’m willing to pay $8 a slice for a treat if it’s dreamy, but not for dry, crumbly cake. I’m really rooting for this shop to make it, and I know it’s got a steep curve since this cake was beyond beloved in Seattle under the previous ownership. I kind of wish they had changed the name so we could all let go of the old Simply Desserts and reckon with this new cake place. As it stands, I don’t think I’ll be getting this cake much if it continues to be so dry.

They only accept cash or check! I find this quite strange and ended up being disappointed first attempt to eat here, like who carries cash or a checkbook nowadays? Anywho, I went back the next day and ordered the Chocolate Fudge and Banana Amaretto. The display prices were different, but the cashier said both are $6.00 after taxes.. a little strange. The Chocolate Fudge was average, the cake was nice, but the icing wasn't very good. The Banana Amaretto was good - almost like a banana bread with icing, but not very sweet overall. I preferred the Banana Amaretto over the Chocolate Fudge. The interior is OK. It's a small shop where if anyone is waiting in line they need to move in order for you to enter. The seats and tables are pretty bland and don't enhance the experience either. The prices are about $1 too high per slice. Overall, I would say it's a nice place to grab dessert in Fremont, but the pricing and payment policies are inconvenient and the interior could use some love.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a half sheet cake for my husband and 14 year old daughters birthday. They called to let me know it was available to pick up at which time they asked if they could cut it. I have bought many cakes for birthdays here and have never been asked that. I began to better understand their question at which point I realized they messed up my order and made me a small cake instead of a large cake. Instead of taking responsibility, fixing my order, and apologizing the woman on the phone blamed me for their mistake and honestly bullied me on the phone. I asked to speak to a manager at which point she refused and stated I could talk to her instead. Honestly, worst service I have ever had in my life and I will NEVER buy a cake there again. If you need a cake for a birthday don’t trust this small business! Oh, and now I have to rush to find a cake. Thanks Simply Deserts for your epic fail!

*July 2020* There's a sign on the door that says one group of customer at a time inside. There was still a good variety of cakes available in the evening, like Chocolate Truffle (dark chocolate with dark chocolate frosting), Chocolate Fudge Cake (classic chocolate cake), Chocolate White Chocolate Cake and Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. We chose Strawberry Cake, one of their bestseller recommended the cashier. For $6, it was a huge piece of cake. The cake was moist (though slightly doughy), the fresh strawberry and whipped cheese inside was light and not too sweet; the white chocolate frosting was sweet and a little hard. Overall, it was not the best cake ever but a satisfying experience nonetheless. The cake slice was large enough to be shared by 2 people. Tip: Cash or check ONLY

A Seattle legend has passed away. Save your fondest memory of your favorite cake here but don't ruin it by returning for a cake baked under the new ownership. I've been going here for 15 years, but this visit the strawberries and cream cake was such a heavy, doughy, wet, mushy-messy of a disappointment I just can't return. The chocolate-raspberry cake was terrible too. It was so dry and hard, it crumbled. A fork was no longer sufficient and the hard chocolate was flavorless. I'm guessing that the $2.25/ slice increase, coupled with the lower quality ingredients and smaller portions are sending this legend into Seattle HISTORY as we speak. I want to acknowledge the servers are still giving great service and I'm happy to see cards and cashless purchases are now options.

"Simply the Best" Fremont neighborhood has many things they should be proud off and one of them is this small, cute bakery shop located in the heart of their neighborhood. Simply Dessert made a name with the locals as simply providing delicious cakes without all that fancy decorations or such. They may look simple but thr taste isnout of this world. My favorite is the chocolate white chocolate. Very light and not too sweet. The chocolate white strawberry is very good as well. Very light and fresh. I suggest to eat them when it is in room temperature. Also this place is only cash so make sure to bring enough to try more than 1. Trust me you will love it!

  • Dalia M

Checked on Google, they're open so I drove from far away, got there, they didn't have the cake size I was looking for. That's reasonable, so I decided to go for the slices. They only accept cash or checks . With this covi 19 stuff I don't carry cash around anymore so I was not able to buy anything . I'm giving them 3 starts because the place smell amazing so maybe they're delicious cakes ... their location is super inconvenient because there is not free parking around. So if you have cash and are walking or you're willing to walk for quite some time or have the time then sure give them a try, they seems nice.

TIP: Cash or check only. We visited the shop on the spur of the moment after having lunch a block away at Kamakura Sushi, and I'm SO GLAD we had cash handy to pay for our selections. ALL FOUR cake slices we bought were wonderful - moist with luscious "melt-in-your-mouth" buttercream icings and natural flavors. We bought the strawberry cake, lemon-blueberry cake, chocolate hazelnut cake, and chocolate/white chocolate cake. The cream cheese topping on the black-bottom cupcake was too dense and not tasty/sweet enough, but maybe some folks would prefer it. This was a perfect ending to our lunch outing in Fremont.

I visited sometime after 8pm on a Thursday evening. When I arrived they had sold out of a few of the cakes, but they still had a bunch available. They also had cookies and brownies available to order. The woman working at the time was friendly and happy to answer any questions. I ended up going with a slice of the chocolate mocha cake. It was still moist at 8pm and it tasted just like the one I had from them at a family get-together a few years ago. Neither the chocolate or coffee overpowered the palate and the flavors were balanced well. If I’m looking for good cake in Fremont, I would definitely return.

  • K K

This bakery sucks and is definitely not worth $8 a slice. The staff can be trained on being polite. And the slices they cut us were barely a sliver. Not a proper slice at all. So in total, you get a sliver for $8. On top of that, their famous chocolate white chocolate cake has gotten so terrible, I could barely eat it. Here’s a tip- if you are planning on stopping by, make sure to call and ask for availability of items because apparently it’s made depending on their mood. Save yourself the trouble and get a slice from Safeway because even that tastes better than the swill this bakery puts out.

  • Marlena Grundy

After walking past this place for years, I finally stopped in to today, and what a disappointment. Incredibly ordinary chocolate cake for $5 a slice. Barely any frosting on the side or middle. Not very chocolate-ty tasting. I think they are skimping on frosting and chocolate to save money. Don’t waste your money. Walk down the block to PCC. Get a slice of the Parisian Star (I think that’s the name) cake. A smaller slice but amazing quality. It actually tastes like chocolate. I feel like brushing my teeth to get the aftertaste of this cake out of my mouth.

  • Chris Rhea

The cakes are sooooo good! You can order a whole cake or come and get slices at the store. Cash or check only, so heads up. They also serve coffee (espresso) and they have some cupcakes and cookies to choose from. We always get the White Chocolate Strawberry cake, and it's amazing. They're closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly when ordering a whole cake for a birthday or a party. I believe they need at least two days notice to make the cake. If you call and talk about what you need, they're super helpful in helping you figure everything out.

*this lovely business is under new ownership* I've only tried two of my favorite cakes and they taste the same bc they use the same recipes. Still my favorite cakes in WA. They now accept credit cards, too. Some of the best cakes I've ever had. You have to pay *cash* or check. They have their regular cake options (strawberry white chocolate cake, birthday cake, red velvet and many chocolate options). They also serve some delicious cheesecake options (the Bailey's one is my favorite). I visit SD at least twice per month to satiate my sweet tooth.

  • Briar D

Simply not very accommodating… The Chocolate White Chocolate cake is BOMB, but apparently it’s not possible to get the same icing on a cupcake version of this cake. Uhhh, hello? The icing is half of the recipe! It’s a two week wait to get cupcake samples with the substitute icing, which naturally I need to try before committing but who has 2 weeks to sit around twiddling their fingers??? Potentially the best cake venue in the city, but this business is squandering its potential via inflexible policies and non-communicative staff.

  • J Edwards

Always amazing and they did not disappoint today. Love that this place is still thriving several decades since I first discovered this gem. Can count on my most favorite treat desires to be on hand and just as I remembered. Long time favorite is the white chocolate strawberry cake. Think next level strawberry shortcake. No whip cream of standard frosting here....instead strawberries and white chocolate ganache layers in-between incredibly moist cake. I don't even care much for cake, and yet I crave simply desserts. Yum yum.

  • Drew Kossen

RIP Simply Desserts, we will miss you!!! As of recent this is clearly under new ownership and bakers, the quality of cake went from being the best in the city to being below average and bland. It’s clear the new owners are trying to keep the old recipes alive, but it’s really not working. Simply Desserts WAS a legendary slice of heaven, sad to see another Seattle institution crumble and disappear. Even more sad that whoever bought is cashing in on the old namesake with the garbage cake they now serve.

  • David Distefano

I went to Simply Desserts to buy a cake for my wife's birthday tonight. there was an uncut chocolate raspberry cake at 4.85 a slice so I did the math and figured why not. They WOULDN'T sell me the cake!! I could get half the cake, but not both halves. I wasn't asking for a discount or expecting one. I just needed a cake. Simply STUPID. $68 dollar sale out the window. WTF? I felt like I was in the scene where Jack Nicholson wanted toast but couldn't get it and had to order a chicken sandwich instead.

  • Isela Alvarado

Pre ordered a cake a month ahead on the phone I was told I could pick it up before scheduled pick up time. I arrived at 1 my cake was still not done they told me to return at 3. When I returned at 3 they told me my cake was still not done and would only be a few more minutes. After waiting 20 minutes the girl told me my cake was ready. MY CAKE HAD BEEN SITTING ON THE COUNTER the whole time. The cake does not even taste special it taste like box cake and the grocery store has better decorated cakes.

  • Anne Nguyen

Average tasting cakes with above average pricing. I visited this place three times to give it a fair chance before rating it. I wanted it to work out so bad as my go-to, convenient bakery in Fremont. Sadly I will not ever return. The takeout packaging for a slice is a small paper plate with a square of paper on top, wrapped in Saran Wrap. It is hard to go far without squishing the contents. Would recommend Whole Foods a few miles away for a richer, more satisfying piece of cake for half the price.

  • Anja

We went into this bakery totally without hearing about it and I read the recommendations only after, which is a good thing because I feel the more recent ones totally misrepresent the cake. It was a really delicious raspberry, chocolate cake; both creamy, moist and a great balance between sweet and tartness. I can not speak on how legendary the last cakes were, nor can I say that I missed anything with this one. The prices were fair for Seattle and the Lady at the register was very friendly too.

  • Michael Barton

This is really good cake. It's actually so good it's great. Nope, this is pretty excellent! That's how your first, second, and third bites will go as you taste the cakes created by Simply Desserts. They're every bit as fantastic pastries as any in the city. You won't find parking nearby so expect to walk a bit. As of 8/24/21 it's cash only so arrive prepared! This cake is so good that if they asked you to pay in pesos you better find a way to make that happen.

  • Jasmine Galvin

My daughter got a white chocolate strawberry cake and it was PERFECT. The strawberries layered inside brought a sweet lightness that was a perfect balance to the dense rich cake and frosting. This was an amazing cake that made me feel like I was enjoying the most beautiful homemade cake. Homemade on another level. Wow We ate so much cake we skipped dinner. Wouldn't recommend that, but nevertheless we did. I will be back for every birthday and holiday.

  • Robert Schlein

Went there after dinner a few days ago. We got a piece of birthday cake, red velvet, and chocolate peanut butter. The red velvet and choc peanut butter were very moist and tasty, the birthday cake was a little dry and tasted like pure sugar. The place was very small, as one might expect from fremont. Overall was good and would likely go back to try so more different cakes. Keep in mind it is CASH ONLY and we are talking about $5+ per slice of cake.

  • Andrew Prentice

Bought Chocolate Truffle cake for a birthday, $50. For the amount of positive reviews, I expected better. The cake was dry and could have used a soak, the rosettes were rushed and not uniform, the layers were uneven, they were late and I had to wait past my pickup time. The cake felt rushed and I would have rather saved $30 and bought something at Safeway. Didn’t help the birthday girl works with cakes, whoops. Won’t go back.

  • Kate K

Horrible cake and horrible cookies - fresh out of the frozen section in any grocery store!!!! Some chocolate chips covered in cake that tasted like baking soda no flavor at all. The place is a hole in the wall, no washrooms two tables and you are served on paper plates for the price you pay they can at least have regular porcelain dishes. Will never go there again and tell everyone I know how horrible it is.

  • Madeline Collins

We just called in and talked to someone rather unpleasant, she was sarcastic and rude! Really unexpected and kind of disheartening. We just wanted cake haha! We were asking if it was possible to come in (amid the COVID stuff because a lot of places are call in and pick up) and she mocked us and promptly hung up! Not sure about the cake because we decided not to go after that experience!

  • Andrew Routier

This place is absolutely fantastic. Easily the best classic american cakes in the city. With the incredible rise in specialty boutique bakeries in Seattle from the cupcakes craze to the the modern fusion bakeries a place that makes an otherworldly chocolate cake or sublime red velvet cake is entirely welcome. In all seriousness though the Red velvet cake will change your world.

  • A N

Came in for some late night dessert and we were loving. We had the chocolate/white chocolate cake. It was great until I found a strand of hair in it. Took it back to the waitress and she offered another slice but since it was cut from the same pie I declined. She said sorry and that’s all... No refunds or other cakes were offered. Kind of disappointed but it is what it is....

  • B M

The red velvet cake used to be my fav. I've been going here for years for this cake. Recently found out, after ordering a full cake, and waiting 2 full weeks, they are under new owners, claiming to use the same recipe but the cake is no longer the same. Sloppy presentation and cake was not moist. I could have bought this same cake at Safeway for $11. I'm so sad

  • Miles M

They used to be the best cake in the city. Unfortunately, after changing ownership recently the quality, taste and presentation has suffered a ton, The last time we got a slice of cake it had chunks of flour and salt that hadn't been mixed into the batter probably before baking! Not only that but they will be raising their prices in February, it's just not worth it.

  • Justin Wu

Quality of the cakes went downhill. They got new ownership but we've been going here for many years. The cakes are no longer the same. Lacks the richness, texture and taste. This is across various flavors that we tried from Strawberry to Red Velvet. Not going to peg it down to 1 star, but it's now just mediocre and not a go to for birthday cakes for us anymore.

  • Todd Mickelson

Good place to get ripped off. The cake is great but they will cut you the smallest slice and charge you full price for it. If you inquire as to why it’s half the size of every other time you have visited, they will tell you it’s your problem and ask you to leave. Cake is great, customer service, not so much. Make sure you see what you get before you pay.

  • heaven gibson

Oh WOW!! This little shop has decadent desserts. We enjoyed the chocolate cake and red velvet cake. They were melt in your mouth delicious! We also had an americano, fabulous. If it would have been appropriate to hug the young man behind the counter to show our appreciation we would have. I wish we had one of these in my neighborhood!

  • Phil Cook

It's still a dessert place but it's not as it was. Service is fantastic, nice people, but the cakes are drier than they used to be, and the frosting is thinner than before. It's good, but not the same.

Bring cash. Strawberry white chocolate is my favorite. Perfectly light and fluffy cake with fresh strawberries, extra delicious right now since they are in season. When I'm in the mood for something heavier then I go for the red velvet. All the flavors are genuinely pretty good and don't pass up the black bottom cupcake.

  • Bridget Fox

Not open during the hours they have posted on their own door. And I’m not talking about a five-minutes-before-close situation. I mean they say they’re open until ten and you show up at nine to a closed sign on the door. Major disappointment, it would be nice to have a reliable dessert place with consistent hours.

  • H O

I feel bad but I have to say the cake here consistently disappoints. I have gotten it out of desperation many times over the years, and have always been left wishing it were better. The flavor is not great and it’s often a bit dry. It reminds me of boxed cake, not something I’d expect from a dedicated cake shop.

  • Holly Lofgren

Stopped by Simply Desserts with my boyfriend on our way to a concert. We were excited by the selection, especially in the evening. I had the Lemon Coconut Cake and he ordered the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. We nailed it, and so did they! Neither was too sweet, so it was a perfect way to finish our meal.

  • Caleb Rouleau

Note that they changed ownership (but kept staff) and now they accept credit cards. The chocolate hazelnut cake we got was really good. It tasted like dark chocolate Nutella. The cake was moist and flavorful. My girlfriend wishes there was more frosting on it. The carrot cake was moist and well-spiced.

  • Ben Mirkhah

Alright I took a little bite before snapping the photo but just look at the decadence on this blueberry lemon cheesecake, its lovely, I'm withholding a star only because it's a CASH ONLY place, a bit jam packed plus the coffee wasn't as good as the dessert but still an enjoyable experience for sure.

  • Fran S

We have been ordering cakes from here for years. Today my husband picked up my favorite chocolate white chocolate cake and it was terrible. I don’t know what happened or if it has changed ownership, but it was a huge disappointment. The cake was sooo dry and crumbly and did not have the same taste.

  • Mireya Garcia

I may be biased because I work here, but the best cakes in town! You can order cakes by the slice, you can call to order a whole cake, but they only do whole cakes for pre-order, so make sure you order in advanced! No vegan options. Cash or check only! No cards and no venmo/cashapp/google pay/etc.

  • Claire Prescott

I wish it was clearly communicated that this place was under new ownership- cake is not worth the price and nowhere as good as it used to be under previous management. Dense cake, cheap tasting frosting, and the strawberries in the cake is very sparingly used. RIP simply desserts! This is so sad!

  • Andrew Blackham

Small place, cash only, really good selection of cakes. The cakes don't blow your mind per se, but they are good. I could probably make something similar with 4-5 hours on a Saturday and the right ingredients, or I could just spend $5-6 and get a reasonably-sized slice of cake from here instead.

  • Jorge Olivares

I love coming to this place for desserts, they were very consistent for the first year I’ve known them but lately it seems they might have changed of baker ? Because last 1-2 months the cakes are always a little dry Would be a 5 if it weren’t for this little drop in quality as of recently

  • Frank Tupas

Cute little cake place. Love this small mom & pop shops. We got the lemon & blueberry cake as well as lemon cheesecake. Both were very good. Just FYI it's a cash only location. Kind of a pain to have to go back out into the rain to get cash but I like supporting small businesses

  • navtej boparai

The worst strawberry cake I have ever had. The cake was hard as a brick and super doughy. The frosting was coming apart in pieces. The lemon blueberry cake wasn't the best either. Very dry and gritty. I was happy to go to an atm and pay cash but definitely not worth the effort.

  • Eden Martin

The cake is amazing. I had raspbery chocolate and it was rich, creamy and not too sweet. I look forward to trying all the other cakes. My only issue is that this place is cash and check only. In this day and age it isn't at all difficult to get square and be able to take cards.

  • kel tait

I enjoyed my slice here mainly because it reminded me of the cakes me and my mum used to make together when i was little. the cakes look decadent, but had more of a homebaked taste, which i really enjoyed as sometimes when i treat myself to cake it can be too rich or heavy.

  • Cheyenne Tyler

The staff was sunny and cheerful. The Chocolate Raspberry Cake was perfect, the raspberries had a fresh tart bite to them and the frosting was a hard shell of solid chocolate. This place impressively maintains a good atmosphere despite being by a major road. 10/10

  • Kripa Chettiar

This place has definitely seen better days. Now all you get are average tasting cakes at exorbitant prices. Add an unpleasant person behind the counter to this mix. Paid $8 for a slice that she couldn't even cut or package properly. Will not be going in again.

  • Thuan Phung

I got a pumpkin cake slice to go. Like others have mentioned it’s cash only. It’s expensive for how small the slice was and the flavor was good but nothing special -imagine grocery store desserts. Pros: It’s in a very convenient location and normally no lines

  • Prateek Sharma

Had a slice of the "Strawberry White Chocolate Cake", which is one of their popular flavors. It tasted nice overall. The cake wasn't overly sweet, strawberries were fresh. The frosting could have been lighter. Overall a nice grab if you're in the area.

  • Aliasbeth H.

I got a slice of fudge cake and it was like a tiny sliver for 8 bucks. I came years ago and you got a hefty slice but that it was very disappointing to see a tiny slice, otherwise it was good.

I’d always wanted to try this place and finally stopped in for a slice of cake. I think the bakery section at any grocery store tastes better than this and it costs 50% less. Disappointed and won’t be going back but the employee was nice.

  • Lakshmi Vaidiyanathan

If you like traditional cakes, this is a place to go. I love their strawberry cake over chocolate. Cash or check only is taken for payment. Try to find some street parking around the street. Currently dine in is not allowed.

  • Jocelyn Wang

I love their strawberry short cake!!!!!And yes they dont take credit cards, and yes there is limited (like...12 seats)) seating place...and yes parking is a b****...but when the craving hits you, it's like you gotta have it.

  • skye icaen

bakery has changed hands. On the positive side they take credit cards now! On the negative side the cake slice we bought was pretty inedible because it was underbaked. Lesson learned: only eat the cake while you’re onsite.

  • Reine

Great Red Velvet and Birthday cakes. A must try is their espresso float. Vanilla ice cream with shots of espresso, almost an affogato. Hooray for Simply Desserts for bringing it into my life. The staff is super nice.

  • Kellee Dauner

Cake options were okay. Cake was mediocre. People that worked there were not that friendly. There was so apology for no public restrooms. It was definitely on par with having cake at a typical restaurant. Pass.

  • Mary Taylor

We got two different slices and disliked both, only took a few bites. Cake part was dry, definitely seemed old. Whipped filling tasted good. Top frosting tasted terrible and had a very strange aftertaste.

  • mark collins

The icing and decorations looked like a child had scrawled happy birthday. The cake and filling were mediocre flavor and possible have the entire family mild good poisoning. Very disappointing overall.

Very nice rich chocolate flavored cakes. I'm quite impressed. Cakes could use less sugar though. Or they should offer less sweet versions of it maybe. Still, very nice almost europeanesque style cakes.

  • Oshare Dayz

Delicious cake, but horrible presentation in ugly paper plates in a soulless space. Better order to go, as this is not an inviting cafe to spend any time in! 'Cash only' sale is quite inconvenient.

  • Edgar Arcia

Delicious desserts! We had the lemon blue berry cake and bailey's chocolate cake, perfect blend of flavor and texture. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will come back.

  • Kim Kate

This is tiny place. They have a few of cakes, some muffins, cookies. I'm fool so I just had a cupcake. That was so delicious. I'm sure this is definitely better than other famous bakery.

  • Jeffery Milton

This place was easily the best cake in Seattle for years and years and was 5 Stars all day every day for 5 years. New ownership completely ruined this amazing cake shop:(

  • Shasta Willson

Best cake in Seattle. Possibly the best commercial cake in the state. We don't eat cake anywhere else, unless I baked it. I particularly like the chocolate caramel.

  • Sally G

The strawberry cake here is soooo good. I’m also a huge fan of the chocolate white chocolate as well. A slice of cake comes out to about $6. Cash or check only.

  • Naveen Nuthalapati

Nothing special, cakes taste very average. Grocery stores have better tasting cakes. We ordered White chocolate strawberry cake, they gave us half baked cake.

  • Marina Nitze

I ordered a strawberry cake for my godson from them at the last minute. Everyone absolutely loved it! Delicious! Will definitely order future cakes from them.

  • PD MO

Chocolate cake was good, not great but good. 930pm on a Tuesday was denied coffee as their espresso machine had been "shut down already" 30 prior to closing.

  • Sanjay Kapoor

Great service! Incredible cakes! favorites are the white chocolate & strawberry cake and the berry cheese cake. What cakes are meant to be - the real deal!!!

  • A Blkspice

Cash only place but remember to support small business, there cakes are unbelievably delicious and the staff is very friendly definitely a spot to go visit

  • Joel Knutzen (Jnmknute)

Great cake,, service and all. Order early if you want a whole cake, they sell out quick. Also all, they are cash/check only, no cards. So be prepared

  • Leonetta Elaiho

No contest best cake in Seattle. No thrills, no major branding, but don't be confused- all the investment is in the cake itself and you can taste it.

  • Nick H

Always fresh always delish!! This is the cake place in Seattle if you ask me, they always have a wide variety and will do custom cakes when ordered.

  • Kysha and Ernest Stephens

Hours stated they closed at 10... but we were told they closed at 930... felt odd as the only POC in the area and the white people got served …

  • Linh-Co Nguyen

Best cake in the whole world. We've been going here for over 25 years. Hundreds of slices of cake and zero disappointments! Frosting is to die for.

  • Jay Bergeron

Ordered a full chocolate ganache for a birthday. Delicious, rich, moist. Deducting a star for a bakery’s review because they’re cash only is silly

  • Eve Matson

Small cute place that's great for a quick cookie or brownie! One of the best cookie I've had, and for a very reasonable $2.15. Super recommended!

  • Adam de Boor

Always partial to the chocolate truffle cake, or the chocolate caramel cake, but tonight it's the bittersweet chocolate hazelnut cake for the win

  • Stephanie Cooper

Several of the best cakes I've ever had. Delicious cream cheese frosting on the red velvet. Chocolate white chocolate is our all time favorite.

  • David Hutchinson

The place that time forgot. Great food, amazing prices, harking back to the old Seattle days. If you haven't been, you mad. P.S. cash only.

  • Andrew Posner

Absolutely amazing espresso for a very reasonable price and the desserts are fantastic! Atmosphere and staff are incredibly welcoming too!

  • Meg

Walked in here randomly one day and had the most amazing, perfectly moist carrot cake ever. They are cash only but worth the inconvenience

  • Jay Patel

Don’t get their chocolate fudge cake. You could probably get better chocolate cake in a supermarket. Maybe try one of their other flavors.

  • Jeremy Hawkins

It's the first time I've ever had one of those brownie chocolate chip cookies that really delivers, and the prices are unbelievably good.

  • rosalee rae

Finally! I swear every cake place I’ve been to the cake is dry as hell and tasteless. This place the cake is moist and fresh! Finally!

  • Metty P

I really like this store!! Great services and price is reasonable and amazing. I will come back and highly recommended this.

  • Nikki Guay

Cash or check only. Cakes by the slice or order ahead. The strawberry white chocolate is our go-to birthday cake! Delicious.

  • Noah Langstraat

I could not recommend their desserts in a more high regard. Their cake is absolutely decadent and service is very friendly.

  • Maxwell Morgan (Max)

The staff is so nice and friendly and of course the desserts and coffee are delicious. Best cakes in Seattle! …

  • Tiffany Ban

Best cakes in Seattle. I've loved every kind I've tried, and that's probably been most of them. Cash or check only.

  • heather marsh

I am not a cake person but these cakes make me swoon! I have tried 5 different varieties and they all were amaxing!

  • Philip Holman

Wow. The White Chocolate cake is excellent. Each bite gets better and better. Just know they don't take cards.

  • Hillary Carlson

Best cake in Seattle! They take credit cards now and the owner is super sweet. Would highly recommend …

  • Edward Halim

I think it's good, but over hyped. Taste is similar with cakes from QFC. Expensive and they only take cash.
