Just TRY to get your refund for mistakes made on orders for delivery or pickup. I have waited TWENTY SIX (26) days for my refund and STILL don't have it. I have called three times. The last time I had to give up because my battery died, it took so long. Then I typed an explanation of my complaint on an online form, only to be told that "We’re sorry but an error occurred and your comment wasn’t submitted. Please try again shortly." FORGET IT! Today they called me and I had to repeat the same information all over again. She kept me on hold forever "researching" it with someone else. Finally, she tells me that it didn't happen because the original request wasn't done correctly (by them) and has to be done all over again and it will be another 7 to 10 business days. It has already been 26 days. So - if you do a pickup order, and if they do it wrong (which they do every time) just know that it can be more than a month before you get your money back. I have shopped at this location for 20 years, when it was still a FURRS. Gradually, over the years, the cleanliness, service and variety of food has dwindled. There are never enough checkers, and I resent the "self service" checkout counters that have been installed, thereby robbing people of jobs and making it even more unfriendly to disabled people. It used to be SO NICE and I always told people that it was my favorite store. I am SO SAD that it has sunk so low. (The 2 stars are in recognition of a couple of really nice clerks who have been kind to me, otherwise, SMITHS gets 0 stars!) A few years ago, I submitted a review that included a report about one of their employees making derogatory comments about people with physical disabilities. I don't know what happened to that one, but it should be here somewhere. Over the last 20 years I have become disabled and nearly homebound. I have ordered food for pickup and delivery from Smiths because of it. I can't trust them to pick out the right things or notify me when they are substituting things. I'm going to have to figure out where I can shop now. Maybe if I could get a caregiver I can send THEM to another market for me. I used to love this store.
Let me start off by saying that I rarely write reviews unless I am extremely happy with an experience I've had with an employee or organization. This is not the case for this review. I am extremely disappointed with the recent changes at this Smith's location. The most competent employees seem to be sent to other Smiths locations or leave. Today I spoke to the new manger "John" about all the dying plants and herbs out front, and his response was that it was the responsibility of the vendor to water them; not Smith's. Really? Your store is selling these plants, and you don't care. To have dying plants for sale in front of your store is an eye-sore and says a lot about caring in general and the quality of your products and services inside. Excuses of high winds, etc. are also no excuse-- if the plants are properly cared for and watered, they survive-- I know, I raise and plant vegetable, fruit and herb seedlings. All they need at this point is watering. I wish I had taken a photograph to attach to this review. Just water the plants as you used to do in the past. I have been shopping at this location for over 10 years and I will continue to use the pharmacy there , but will most likely start grocery shopping at Albertsons for my regular groceries. Also, the new Visa credit card policy is ridiculous, and interesting that it happens when the new Smith's Mastercard comes on board. It would have been best to offer better incentives for the use of your card than not accepting Visa credit. Is there any other store in the U.S. that accepts credit cards and doesn't accept Visa? I've not come across one. I would think that a large corporation such as Kroger would be able to better negotiate better rates for themselves. The staff (mainly cashiers) at this Smith's location also appear dissatisfied with the changes, and seem to be following a script ("would you like stamps, ice, newspaper..."). and when they ask if the customer has found everything they were looking for and the response is no, they never write down those lacking items. Even the best memory cannot remember all of the items at the end of a shift.
I've shopped here 3 years today will be my last. The issue I have is with the front self checkout lady who threw here hands up out of frustration station lane 9 sells cigarettes I said mam I've walked over here passing the long line in lane nine I'll just wait until your done with your costumer this made her ext re extremely argumentative and security walks up as she's yelling lane nine sell cigarettes and I replied yes they do but I don't have 30 min to wait for all her costumers to thru so she sais I'm not selling them to you simply because she was frustrated she only told me that lane nine sells not that she needed me to goto lane nine as if I had some sort of choice well then security sais you know you people have no respect with I replied that you people excuse me but what kind of people are you referring to because im not aware that I belong to and group he said your all the same bad attitude and you stink you need a shower to wich I said sir I'm not homeless I do construction it's been a hot day I'm only trying to buy cigarettes and go home then the lady walks up introduces herself as the store manager and extremely loud sais I know you you steal from here daily or every other day the police have aressted you and your not aloud to be here I said well you e clearly have me mixed up as she repeatedly yells leave and nothing else as I'm trying to tell her she's made a mistake im not whoever she's thinking off but won't listen security is up in my face as well screaming spitting on me for making noises only a child would make so after she the store manager let's me talk she sais no cutting me off your a homeless their get out I will contact. All the appropriate lvl of management but will not step foot inside this store until it's done in person
Great service at Constitution/Carlisle Smith’s after disaster at Smith’s on 4th St. I had to feed 50-60 people for dinner as my company was doing a three-day yearly inventory. After having problems with the deli manager at 4th street, I called Smith’s on Constitution. The lady at the deli was patient and knowledgeable with all the items I needed. I found out the next day that some employees were on vacation and had to call again to alter my large order. No problem. On the day of the dinner, I showed up early to shop for side dishes and let the deli know I would return to pick up the order. No problem. When I picked up all the others items, most of which were on sale, I went to the deli and an older gentleman had everything expertly packed and ready to go! He escorted me to the front of the store and a manager opened a checkout lane and I paid for everything, no problem and no delays! Then another employee helped me to my car and carefully put all the items into my car, no problem. I absolutely had a great experience with the staff at Smith’s!!!! My employees loved the beautiful spread of mixed salad/dressings, wonderfully seasoned baked/fried chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, and mustard/country potato salads. My co-workers and I were extremely satisfied and I was totally satisfied with the care, commitment, efficiency, hospitality, and professionalism at the Smith’s at Constitution and Carlisle. We will definitely use them for all of our future catering needs. Well done!!! Bravo!!!
Absolute worst transformation of a store ever. This store used to be fairly decent, your standard supermarket, nothing to write home about. Since the remodel I've found it to be a nightmare experience. Depending on what you need you are standing in as many as five different lines, liquor, personal hygiene, pharmacy, grocery, and the service desk line. At each station where you purchase items, you also have to pull out that loser rewards card in order to get prices that other stores charge without a loyalty card. The employees I encountered there this afternoon were grumpy, the shoppers angry. (One woman who passed me when I was checking out at the toothpaste corral offered the spontaneous comment that she was going to find a different store to shop at because of the new system.) Plus, the layout for the self-checkout lines in the grocery area strikes me as paranoia at its best. You're herded into one of two pens with small entrances and exits like cattle on the way to the stockyard. One top of all this, I'm not finding anything better after the remodel in terms of products. You'd think the way people are buying more pre-made items, they'd improve their deli and bakery items. Nope. Heck, even Walmart has a better bakery, and Smith's can't begin to complete with the ready-to-eat-stuff at Whole Foods a block away. Bonus points for both Walmart and WF; you don't have to check out separately to buy cotton swabs!
There sadly are some workers there that aren't nice and if u try to get help from them or if u try to remember their names they are real mean about it. There is this girl that was mean to me once I forgot her name glad I forgot her name she had short light brown hair anyways I never want to go to her. There is this one punk rocker dude in deli that laughed at and pointed at me just because I remember this one girl and forgot her name. What a mean guy. I would never do that to a customer. In addition, there was a brunette girl with long hair kinda young and she was very mean wouldn't help u with fruit she says oh well that's not my job my job is to put fruit out not to help customers that's not part of my job. I told her I used to work at a grocery store too at one time and if I had ur attitude my boss would have if not lectured me fired me why because at Meijers in Michigan where I worked my boss always told me if it wasn't for the customers u wouldn't have a job. It's true though. Bottom line customer service needs to be made a priority not only here at Smiths but everywhere just about I can't think of one workplace I know of that's about retail where u won't be dealing with customers and ALL NOT SOME ALL MY BOSSES NO MATTER WHERE I WORKED don't matter where said if a customer stops u to ask a question or whatever u deal with the customer or u refer them to someone that can.
After having bad experiences with the Smith's on Louisiana and Montgomery, I've swore I never shop at Smith's again. One day I was in the area and noticed this Smith's and I actually needed a couple things so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did! This store is well organized, clean, and actually has fresh produce! The layout of the aisles are well organized! Plus they have cashiers ready to check people out in addition to two well organized self service checkouts. The staff actually greets you whenever they pass you, whether in an aisle, produce, self service etc. I do want to recognize an employee her name is Jahailah, who was usually at the checkouts! She carries herself with pride and in a professional manner and makes going in to shop a pleasure! Actually, the last time I was shopping there Jahailah was working, and she gleamed sharing that she recently received a promotion to manager!! This is awesome! I love the fact they promote from within and it's even another plus, to see this Smith's store clearly recognizes talent! With Jahailah as part of the management team, this Smith's can only get even better!!!
So I tried to delivery due to recent surgery. I had a delivery window between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and then was send a text that it wouldn't be until 10:45. I called the Smiths customer service who told me they had nothing to do with delivery but would send me over to somebody who was equally rude and said there was no way they could help with anything. So I went online and finally got through to Instacart who does the delivery and the shopping. The Instacart CS was not much more help than Smiths. I said could you simply text this Shopper and tell them to text me when they're on the way. I sat on hold for about 15 to 20 minutes, she came back and she said "I can't get in touch with the Shopper". I repeated would you just text the Shopper and tell them to text me and repeated the number. " Oh Ok" was the response. I heard from the Shopper, he said he had a text which gave him absolutely no information as to who the client was and what the situation was. We worked it out but the customer service between Smith and Instacart is a no-go. The Shopper did help me out.
This is my Go To Smith's. You usually have one you favor in the city for whatever reason. This one has always been the one near the neighborhoods I lived in and currently do. I like the remodel that they did to cut down on the energy bill (doors on ANYTHING that needs even just Cold air) I don't know if it merely gives the perception of sanity or of actually keeps people from touching the food more but it certainly acts as a sneeze gaurd and I'm not about to turn my nose up at that! I haven't had any problems with stock shortages and I would have been happy with the plastic bag ban *if* the single night I forgot my own bags they weren't completely out of bags entirely. I would have bought reusable ones but none were to be had. Oh well, learning! Still, the staff has always been friendly and helpful, the management has gone above and beyond duty when I had an issue with a person stalking me being in the store, and I Love three pharmacy staff! All in all a good place most of the time.
I've been coming here to the gay Smith's for many years. It's convenient for me because I use the wells fargo branch. I sort of have a love-hate relationship with this store. The managers specials a good but they're better at ghetto Smith's. It's not a huge store so I do have trouble finding some items. Here's my issue today. I love maple bacon bars (donuts) I've had them at Voodoo donuts in Portland. So when they started making them at Smith's ,I was excited because they were doing them right, with crumbled bacon. However, each time I've gone in they have less and less bacon. What's the point? This type of inconsistency drives me away. Also, I go in early fairly often and the deli workers are always in the middle of conversations that slow down the service. And the one guy that I liked has never been seen again. And I use the self-service register for a reason. I don't need the nice lady getting involved. My Favorite Smiths are 4th Street and Louisiana/ Montgomery.
How can you manage a grocery store without shopping carts? Three of the last four times I’ve visited, there were no grocery carts for customers so you could only buy the amount of groceries you were willing to lug around the store in your arms. Also, avoid the “fresh“ seafood at all costs. It often seems way past it’s prime and is very dicey. I got violently ill last week from the “fresh” halibut and previously bought a piece of salmon that I found to be obviously spoiled as soon as I opened the package (I immediately returned it and the customer service person got angry at me for even bringing it in the store because it stunk so bad). Also avoid buying alcoholic beverages here. Their selection is spotty and you have to pay for any alcohol purchases separately, as a separate transaction, in a different location in advance of actually paying for your groceries. This is time consuming, inconvenient, and to me a sign of their disdain for their customers.
I recently found that smiths is doing same day pick up. Given the current situation with COVID- 19 and being an hospital employee who works 10+ days I said great. I placed my order picked the first day available which was two days away! I picked the time for when I got off work between 5-6 so I can drive there and home, Yea that didn’t happen. Instead I get there at 5:45 call the number on the sign and was told that my order hasn’t been picked yet and if they can call me when it ready. When asked how long that would be I was told they are looking like an hour or more. If I would have known that I would have just shopped my self, TWO days before. So much for same day pick up and picking up during the time that was selected. Oh and I didn’t have the option to cancel and go inside to get my stuff so now I’m parked outside waiting until they can pick it. Never again. I thought Walmart pick up was bad, This is worse!!!!
Top cheap to provide paper bags! No carts, no hand baskets. On top of that NO BAGS! They dnt tell you that until you checkout though. I used the self checkout, which was struggling and required "help is on the way." I had 16 item, it said 16, don't understand what the trouble was. The attendant came over, did his thing then tried to take my hand basket. I told him I need it to take my items to my car. He said you can't take those out of the store. I told him too bad cause they didn't have any bags or any carts when I walked in. He then proceeded to give me attitude and mumbled something about "some people." If you don't have bags, put a big sign at the front informing people of that. And why dnt you have plenty of carts available when customers walk in?? A complete mess all around. Rude customer service to top it off. Won't be going back to this location or to any Smith's any time soon. Albertson's from now on.
I occasionally like to come here as it has a larger selection than the Smith's near my apartment. There Deli section has a different menu also from my local Smith's. I reduced 1 star because they almost never have the chicken tender sandwhich that is on their menu. I reduced it another star because they don't always keep a lane open, especially in the evenings. They can get quite busy. On one occasion I was waiting in line and was told by the person on the cash register to go to a different lane as he was closing out. I asked my cousin about it, and was told that he should have put a lane closed sign up and scanned everyone's items in line before going on break instead of an arbitrary cut-off. On another occasion I asked where a certain size pack of bottle water was, and was told that we were sold out. I then I asked the guy next to us where he got his and he told me, and they were not sold out.
Overall it’s overpriced and half the employees are unfriendly and one security guard in particular likes to take out his frustrations on customers. I’ve seen him attempt to humiliate several customers. He’s followed me through the store on more than one occasion and when I told him I don’t need him to make me uncomfortable while I’m shopping he told me I could leave if I don’t like it. I’ve been shopping at smiths for over 20 years to be told that by a person like him was well disappointing. It’s the closer store to me and for now I continue to shop here. Hopefully for not much longer though. As for the self checkout they can flush it. I already bring in my cart now I have to check my groceries out next they’ll have me stocking the shelves so I can have the privilege of shopping at their store. There’s a few friendly faces an occasional good deal but overall ugh. Thanks.
Very nice staff and I love the pharmacy employees. The selection is mediocre, though New Mexico does not really have nice grocery stores in general. The online order and pickup is so terrible. Whenever you order and choose a pickup time, prepare yourself advance. It will be ready several hours after the time you choose. Also, when you receive the call letting you know your order is late, they tell you they’ll call you when it is ready. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but they’re not calling back. I’ve had to call them back every time, and every time it’s “been ready for a while”. After that, I go to the store because it’s ready! Then I get to wait 30 minutes outside for someone to move those groceries 20 feet from the store to my car. You better up your game Kroger. Amazon is building a huge warehouse here and is coming for your customers.
My husband and I went and there were NO shopping carts in the store nor in parking lot. A guy with NO mask was leaving the store shouting "no bags or no carts!" And you would think with the mask mandate.......so by the floral department my husband asked the employee at the self checkout aisle for help with why there were no shopping carts. The employee who looks Hispanic could not be any ruder by shouting at my husband and I quote "well, you're talking to the wrong person sir, you need to talk to my manager " my husband asked for the manager and that employee started paging Cody who never showed up! My husband and I had to follow an elderly lady to the parking lot to ask for her shopping cart as she was leaving the store. Oh yes, and the large obnoxious girl at the cheese shop.......loud and rude! Definitely POOR customer service
I had an outstanding experience here today. I have always been a fan of this Smith's, but today it surpassed itself. One thing I have always liked at Smith's is that I can ask any one of the staff I happen upon where something is, and they invariably know. Today, Crystal checked me out. I was tired and discouraged after a really long, hard day, but she was so friendly and kind that I will remember her rather than everything that happened earlier. Crystal was anxious to meet my every need - she had rolls of quarters! She also took great care packing my bags ( I always bring them with me), watching out if they were unbalanced or too heavy. (I was riding my bike and she identified with my juggling act.) I am so grateful to have encountered this great service at Smith's (This is the one at Constitution and Carlisle.)
What in the world has happened to this place? Their "remodeling" was confusing enough, but now you have to pay for health care and cosmetics in one section of the store, liquor in another section of the store, and everything else at checkout. They offer the scan-bag-go option, but you can no longer use it in cosmetics/health care or liquor, so what good is it? Today I needed cough drops, beer, and groceries. Three separate check-outs. I've been a customer of this store in its various incarnations for 32 years, and today was my last visit. There are too many other options out there for this store to make it this difficult to shop. I watched the KMart a mile away go out of business because of poor customer service, and I suspect I'll watch this Smiths go out of business for the same reason.
Ordered a sub for my graduation party 3 days in advance and the day of 30min before my pick up time they called me to tell me they did not make my order and don't have the stuff to make my order... 30 MINUTES before. Leaving me with the only option of a meat tray... I ordered a 9foot sub for my party at 2 their alternative is to give me deli meat half our before it starts.THANK GOD Smiths on PASEO was understanding of my situation when I called and were so helpful! They were able to make me the subs last minute On top of this, Smiths on Constitution never has shopping carts, baskets or bags for their customers! Absolutely atrocious how they did not offer any other solutions or help ordering from somewhere else for me when it was their fault. Never shop at this location.
I don't recommend this store at all, we were doing self check out and this older lady kept eye balling us like we were gonna steal something, when the machine needed to scan her badge for 12 items she looked at every bag to make sure and but someone behind us needed the samething but she didn't look in his bags, and when we needed to pay my wife was getting the card and she literally stood by us like serious, sorry we don't dress to impress at a store and the security guy was acting like a cop cause the worker told him to keep a eye on us and when we were talking to manager about situation he came up and started to try get in conversation about the situation, discriminating because how you look or dress is very wrong I'll be calling corporate and his boss
It’s simple. Dirty and understaffed. Forcing you through those abysmal self checkout machines that constantly misread weight on light items and require you to push various buttons confirming stuff inevitably leading to a long wait for the surly overseer of the machines to come over to berate you for doing it wrong or forgetting to scan. Which you didn’t but since the whole systems is based on the assumption of we are too cheap to pay cashiers but we assume you are a crook the result is inevitable. Selection adequate and some nice bargain finds. A bit cluttered but since they have a lot of stuff it balances out. Definitely not the crown jewel of Smiths or their parent company Kroger. More like their black sheep illegitimate cousin.
They didnt sell any sod. I was disapointed. However they had a decent selection of cheeses and a woman. I couldnt find the bathroom (didnt need it..) but I panicked at not finding it and accidently stole a pumpkin. All in all, a good movie, nothing to write home about... better than Wonder Woman. The mezzo piano was primo af. Definitely should be on the new york times bestseller list. I made reservations and waited in their lobby for like an hour... no service. Ketchup was good, valet parking was spotty. They took my car, but werent able to recover it. Got a free smiths card out of it. Shout out to Oscar, you my main squeeze. Happy fathers day to a wonderful man.
This is a decent supermarket--I live by Ghetto Smith's, and this is generally superior to Ghetto Smith's. But, oh, oh sweet God in Heaven, the last two times I was in here the stench of rotting fish from the seafood counter pervaded two thirds of the store. I came in a month ago and was like, "Mother of God, that stinks. That is revolting. Thank crap I'm not buying fish." But then, last night, I came in again. Why, WHY is the smell still there? Can you guys get some bleach or something? Maybe go ahead and throw out the rotting fish? You know how Asian supermarkets smell? Yeah, that's a quaint nothing, NOTHING compared to the stench of this Smith's.
The meat at any Smith's is bad. I bought Jennie-O ground turkey roll (not frozen) and when I opened it it was rotten and it smelled terrible and had to throw it away. Then a week later I bought pork cutlets and made posole. I was sick throwing up for two days. I told the manager and he blamed where the meat came from. I have never had any problems with the same meat (from same manufacture) from any other groceries.I think Smith's coolers are not cold enough and they keep meat past its prime. When I mentioned it to a couple of friends, they have also had bad meat from Smith's. I will never purchase any type of meat from any Smith's.
I actually love Smith I would have given him five stars however it really bothers me that the grocery stores have so many self-checkouts now. Not only does it take jobs away, it doesn't show very much courtesy to the customer coming into their store. After a long day at work the last thing I want to do after grocery shopping is scan my own items. I do like that they have a few of them for when you're in a big hurry but when you have a basket of food it's frustrating. I used to be a cashier but I'm not anymore and I really don't want to have to do it when I'm already needing to get my groceries and then go home and cook dinner
I have to say when I went to pick up my groceries yesterday the the young man helped me seem to be a good guy. I had one thing in my order that is wrong that i need. I've been calling to see if they're willing replace it, but now I can't get a single person to answer in the entire store after 6 calls. I finally got one customer service person, and she transferred me to the order person and forget it... I realize they get busy but I need to figure out whether I need to drive back over there. I am sick or I would go to store myself. It's part of customer service to be able to reach at least one person on the phone.
Placed a pickup order last Thursday (11/19) for Monday (11/23). We scheduled the time between 5 and 6. Well today we get a call asking if we could push the pickup time back another hour. Between 6 and 7. We said thats fine and understand things happen. We showed up at 6:42 to let them know we parked. It took them 20 minutes to let us know they were STILL working on our order and it'll be another 20 minutes. It took an hour for them to finally bring out our food. At 7:42 we finally had our order. Horrible service no explanation as to why it took so long for a pickup order that was placed days ago.
I was trying to purchase a six pack of beer (completely sober mind you) and I was refused the sale. The clerk at the self check out was rude and denied me my purchase based on no reasonable grounds. Either he was new and trying to cover his own butt on the sale of alcohol, or he just does not know what he is doing. I have been there multiple times and bough beer without any issues. I recommend that the manager retrain their employees on detecting customers who have been drinking, and the proper conduct on going about a no sale on alcohol, let alone basic customer service skills. 9/10/2015
I lived close to this location for many years and always did all my grocery shopping at this location. It has been several years since I have been to this location; however, I recently visited this store with a friend and remembered everything I missed about shopping here. This location has a good assortment of items and friendly workers. The alcohol section has a fairly broad selection, if you imbibe, and there is sushi that is made fresh on the premises. The produce section is also better than you will find at some other grocery stores in Albuquerque.
This is my favorite grocery store in all of Albuquerque. It's not as big as some of the newer built-by-Kroger stores, but the selection is more than adequate for my needs. They are in the middle of a big remodel right now (June, 2019) but when I was in this morning, every staff person I saw said hello and asked if I needed any help. That is a very welcome touch, especially when everything I buy is in a different place now (except the bakery, the dairy, the meat-and-fish and the fresh produce). Love this place. So welcoming and helpful.
Good Smith's, very friendly people work here. They have a good selection of organic fresh foods and veggies, and frozen organic fruit. Store is usually clean. Has pharmacy, a bank, tons of self checkouts but always a couple of employees to check you out too. 2 redboxes on the inside of store, live herbs and vegetable plants in the spring/summer. A couple of new mom parking spots too. The checkout area is cramped, and parking can be hard. Busy with weird people in the evening, much more pleasant during the day and early morning weekends
I'm giving them a 5 Star ✨ for their pick up service. It was so convenient and reliable. The last time I was in Smiths they didn't have enough bags. So I decided to try the pickup method. I placed my order online and it was ready in a few hours. The employee who brought out my order was professional and friendly. I would recommend this method if you have time to go online to avoid the crowds and shopping cart and bags issues. Not sure what's going on with the bags but other retailers are facing the same issues.
This place has no respect for the residents leaving behind the loading dock the city posted a sign that clearly states no truck or loading between 7am-9pm. Last night they had workers throwing away old shopping carts into a big metal dumpster from 830-10pm making so much noise that scared the hell out of my daughter . When I called the manager he could of cared less . All he said is we have until 10pm . So I will be contacting a lawyer first it was the alarm going off every day for 4-6 months now this .
This had been my preferred Smith's. Well, actually my second choice. It's not the closest to my home, but the two that are closer have a really janky clientele. However, I am done with this store. After some remodeling, it is now necessary to check out three times to get your shopping done. Separate checkout for liquor, personal care, and general grocery. Probably pharmacy is a separate checkout too.Way to make shopping even more inconvenient, Smith's. I won't be shopping at Smith's any longer.
The Smith's closest to me (1 mile) is the smallest in ABQ. This store takes two buses to get to, but they are a full sized Smith's with hundreds of products my local Smith's doesn't carry. But, the prices are higher. I have to shop small frequently or add the cost of a rideshare, so i'm in the store frequently and know what this high inflation has done. This store is higher still, so I only bought things I can't get at my neighborshood Smith's. Still, I saw some prices that shoked me.
They didn't have any grocery bags! Because of the new mandate. But every other smiths uses reusable bags. You would think that they would've been prepared for this. They've had an ample amount of time to get ready for that very moment. And failed miserably. I then asked the manager about that. Who couldn't be more rude. I've never met a more rude person in the customer service business. Who didn't even acknowledge me standing there. Will never spend money there again
!THE MANAGERS NEED MORE TRAINING! they are NOT knowledgable at this location They could NOT figure how to do a simple return. I went to Lomas location & Alex in customer service was able to help me in 2min!!! Whoever is reading this, give Alex a raise. She knows how to do her job. Also, the management at constitution location are on the typical "Power Trip" The Employees below management are GREAT but management SUCKS! They need a talking to by your regional manager.
I shop here more often than other groceries primarily because of the rewards program. It is definitely worth joining if you are local. The staff are friendly and the managers seem to take pride in their work, resulting in a pleasant and clean store. The deli in particular is usually worth a stop, as is the bakery. Don't forget to check the discounted items shelf, usually in the back of the store. The items still taste fine, they are just close to their expiration!
Smith's on Carlisle, the employees there are rude and are racial . I walked into Smith's to return 2 items that I didn't neveggiesed. Of course I had the receipt and the items were paid for with cash. As soon as I walkef in the store with the items the employees would not take their eyes off of me. I felt very uncomfortable.they refused to give me my money back saying my receipt was too short.then they told me I had to go to the store where I purchased the items.
The liquor department woman named Joanna was extremely rude and unprofessional. 9 out of 10 times shopping there, the liquor department is empty of an associate and this evening I went in with my mom and she stopped us and told us we had to pay before we left that area which would have been fine if she had been polite, so i katened her right back and she proceeded to take her glasses off as of she was gonna come around and do something to me. She
I love To shop at Smith's. The Staff is friendly, the atmosphere is always welcoming. If I could say anything negative about it the flower department employees are not very helpful. I have tried asking multiple times on different days about plant care and each time I was told to google it. Smiths is a lot like Whole Foods but much more reasonably priced. I also love the points that can go towards gas! If you don't have the app I recommend it!
I need to say that everyone who works in this store is amazing! Always willing to go above and beyond for the customer. That said, my review is for the corporate decision to have only one register open always. If I wanted to check out groceries I would get a job doing that. I do understand that the corporation wants to get rid of all the people they have to pay, and make the customer do the jobs themselves, for free, but I am not willing to.
Very bad management, I am a regular shopper at this store. I was at the self check out regester and needed help with a digital coupons. The clerk didn't know what he was doing. Rather than ask for help and a ruling, he was rude, arragant, and insensetive. I walked out of the store without perchasing anything. I have many experiences at this store where the employees do not seem to care about the customer. Bad management.1:30 pm 10/22/2017.
I went in for a chicken, they are on sale for .69 a lb. No chicken in sight. No thighs, no drumsticks, 1 whole chicken @1.19 a lb. Very disappointing. This was meant for the store on Yale and coal. The constitution smith's is a lovely place. Always a wonderful experience. I went in today and the floral shop was absolutely stunning. Cindy is doing the best job ever. I loved her display today, so colorful and not one thing out of place.
Hey, online orders pick ups Fast, Nice, Convenient, friendly employees but needs to work on: 1. Loading customer's food orders in Smith's Paper Bags; over-packed yes maybe afraid of using more Smith's paper bags 2. Loading customer's order into customer's vehicles. Placing sodas on paper bags or not well placed in vehicle's loading areas. Turning corners when driving; paper bags following over. Otherwise Nicely Stores and Co.Laters.
I have been coming here to this location for 25 years. Used to be our favorite store. Now, remodeled, and it ruined the flow. . Also, management used to make sure no more than 2 in a line waiting. Now lines all the way back down aisles. They blocked the makeup and shampoo are with separate check out and cannot pay for beer or wine except in liquor department. Lost all convenience, organization and customer service with the remodel
Smith's on Indian school and Carlisle is unfortunately the closest to my house. It is always dirty, the people are rude and most times they are out of everything. Today the butcher was in such a hurry he literally pushed me out of the way with us cart hitting my elbow. I hope one day they get it together and try and make the store a nice place to shop. For my normal runs I will drive to the Paseo and Wyoming one. They are amazing.
First off I love the parking lot, I never feel like I am fighting for the closest spot. Next I love the employees they always brighten your mood and are friendly. This is definitely my neighborhood store. I also love that they know me and take the time to talk to each customer as if they are long time friends but I never feel like I am waiting in line because honestly waits are never long. I absolutely love this Smith's.
This is one of the worst managed Smith's in all of Albuquerque. There's NEVER any hand baskets for shopping, sometimes not even any shopping carts, and yesterday ALL self checkouts on the deli side were closed in the middle of the day causing a massive line at the other self checkout. I won't be shopping here anymore. Anyone equally frustrated with this sht show of a store should try the neighborhood Walmart on Cutler.
Quick visit to pick up a few items on a Friday during one of their busiest times. They always have plenty of check out lanes open during this time so there was no waiting in line. Cashiers are friendly. After 8pm they want everyone to use the self check out which can be a pain if buying a lot of groceries. The voice prompt has a rude tone which is very annoying. But they will have a cashier check you out if you ask.
There is woman there covered from head to toe in tattoos that works the customer service booth who is a, terrible and horrible person. Don’t shop at Smith’s located at Montgomery and Louisiana NE. Unless of course being treated like dooky is your thing. Everyone there is rude and deliberate. Especially the one I told you about. Maybe she got hired right out of a woman’s prison? We’ll take our business elsewhere!
Both Charles and Carmella were helpful and FRIENDLY! I've had disappointments at this location before, yet it's so convenient, I come back! My grandfather is diabetic and Charles helped be find Sugar-free, whole grain, sliced bread! He loves it! Carmella (I hope I remembered her name right) is the Self Check-out lanes was warm and FRIENDLY. I tell you Smith's some of the best employees! (Well most of them, lol)
Pretty rundown grocery store. Check time stamps carefully because they routinely stock items on the verge of being old. But the biggest problem is the staff, and especially one. This cashier is loud and rude. And deliberately has embarrassed me publicly at checkout. Wrote to Smiths but of course, they don’t care. I’ll always go somewhere else if possible. Too bad as it’s right around the corner from my home.
This used to be my preferred grocery store until their recent remodel. Afterwards they reduced the already limited selection of products and required separate checkouts for alcohol and toiletries. I decided to try grocery pick-up. Big mistake. Waited an hour and twenty minutes past the expected pickup time after being told when i originally arrived that my order wasn't ready. My order only had five items.
What genius came up with the idea to install registers at the Liquor and Health departments? I had to wait in line to check out items three times yesterday. Are you eventually going to install registers at all the departments? Will we eventually have to check out our meats from the meat store inside the store? Our dairy from the dairy store inside the store? And so on? Such a stupid, inconvenient idea.
This store never has more the 1 checker on the job. Better to grab a cart from the parking lot as they are rarely collected. Seems this store needs baggers. But I see so many stockers every time I'm in here. 3 registers that only ever have 1 checker who bags your items too (read SLOW) but 12 self checkout lines! When do we get discounts for bagging ourselves like Winco, Food4Less?
I would rate my experience this evening zero stars if I could. You are now required to check out liquor, "drugstore" items, pharmacy and groceries separately. This means you could potentially stand in line and close out transactions four separate times. Ridiculous. It resulted in a store full of very unhappy customers and cashiers. After 20 years I am going to shop elsewhere.
Me and my mom were just there shopping, and I want to thank Robert from produce, and Luis from the bottom of my heart, they both helped me find Aloe Vera juice, it was on aisle 11, we need more people like them that really care about the customer's, they took the time to help me out today, and they need to be recognized by the management for their accomplishments!!!
Great store. Has a great selection of items. I love the variety in produce. I typically see the manager every time I'm in the store and she is always taking care of business and if I walk by, she says hello and offers assistance. It can get pretty busy at peak times, and the aisles are narrow to accommodate a great variety, so courtesy and patience are essential.
I DID NOT ENJOY MY SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. I DONT SHOP AT STORES THAT SCOLD YOU FOR NOT KNOWING THAT THEIR SELF CHECK OUT DOES NOT HAVE A HAND HELD SCANNER AND TOLD OFF TO LOOK UP THE ITEM. SEEMs TO ME THAT MEAN PEOPLE WITH NO OTHER CUSTOMERS COULD HELP ME AND NOT TELL ME OFF FOR NOT KNOWING THEIR SELF CHECK OUT SYSTEM. HEY JACK@$$ IM THE CUSTMER NOT THE TRAINEE.
Expect a wait if you prefer to check out with a person instead of going through the self checkout. There was only 1 checker when we were there at 9 am. There also wasn't anyone at the customer service desk so we had to wait there too. I used to enjoy shopping at Smith's because everyone that worked there seemed nice and cheerful but not so much anymore.
This grocery store is the most consistent store in town. The employees are always willing to help you out and are friendly. They keep their produce section well stocked throughout the year. Their butcher is knowledgeable and ready to help you pick a great cut of meat, if that's your thing. This Smiths location also sells alcohol, so what's not to like.
I prefer the Smith's on Constitution and Carlisle than the one closer to my home. Their produce department is well cared for, the bakery has beautiful displays. I only wish the Carb Master yogurt had more of a variety of flavors. There use to be a wider selection of flavors than there is now. I've quit buying that yogurt and shop more of a variety.
My usual spot to shop for groceries. I love the vegetarian and organic groceries (simple truth brand for i.e) very well priced, and always available. Self check out available whenever in a rush. Safe parking. I would nicely ask shoppers to return their carts to the space made for it after shopping. Someone will have to do it for you otherwise ...
This is my favorite by far my Smith's! There is another one about 5 min away from my house but I drive 20min out of the way just to go to this Smith's. It's always we'll stocked a great mix of regular and organic choices a lot of healthier options. They have most of there checkout lines open all they time as well as lots of self check registers.
This is my Smith's I go to. I enjoy coming here. The staff are really friendly and have their own personality. It's got most grocery and pharmacy needs. They usually have good specials at the front door and a chilled area for beverages near the fridge isles (found that a lot of Smith's don't have this). Usually busy during the day on weekends.
This was one of my usual grocery stops, but not anymore. I just got back from spending much of the summer out of state and went to get some beer, food and body wash. I had to check out three different times! I think it's time to start going to Albertsons instead, even if it's a bit out of my way. I'll bet they let me use my Visa there too!
Get Smiths quality food but at this location expect rude customers and rude customer service you can use one door for in and out but God forbid you try to exit through the "emergency exits" to simply grab a basket. Not the first time I've been told I'm doing something wrong at this Smiths, like I didn't know there was a right way to shop..
Very friendly and helpful staff! This is the very first store I stepped in (in New Mexico) and it has always been my most favorite Smith's. Last week, while they were low on staff later in the evening, cashier lady went out of her way to open the cosmetics section for me so I won't need to make another special trip another day. Thank you!
Not happy this visit live on the west side came all the way to the Smith's at Carlisle and Constitution during 5:30pm traffic (mind you Unser exits are closed) ..Just to be told the meat and seafood dept had everything put away because they're closer didn't show up for work especially when crab legs go on sale POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
This particular location always feels crowded. It's too small to handle all the traffic it gets even in normal times. It's impossible to social distance while shopping or checking out. It does have a convenient, fairly clean restroom. I usually have to park further away than I want to walk. I prefer to shop at the Fair Plaza store.
Marcus from the floral department was awesome! Went in this morning at 9am for a graduation present and ran into some problems. He went above and beyond to help us this morning and if it wasn't for him we would never have gotten a present for our daughter who graduated elementary. Thank you, Marcus! The 5-star rating is for you!
If you are in need of a regular grocery store with a hometown feel this store is a great choice. The management has cultivated a friendly knowledgeable staff that remembers you and prioritizes hospitality. This store covers most of your needs but isn’t big enough to be able to stock too many premium or variant/obscure items.
I love Smith's. I don't get groceries at any other major chain. The co-o.o is where I also go. I don't like how they make you self check out if you go there at night. Its inconvenient if you happen to have a lot of groceries. Also, I can't tell you how many there have been NO CARTS! I hate back tracking! My time is valuable.
Rat Problem I’ve been shopping at this Smith since it was a Furrs. When I reached down for cookies I found a rat eaten cookie and rat droppings! Shame on you Smiths!! I hope someone from corporate see this ASAP and has the store closed immediately for fumigation and throws away all products sitting on the shelves currently!
I placed order for pickup between 6-7pm. I show up at 6:56pm... I call them when I'm outside only for them to say my order won't be available til tomorrow.... then the tone in the girls voice like I was inconveniencing her... then she questions if I still want my groceries when they probably won't have most of the order....
Far too large...made it hard to find things. For example, coconut milk hidden on a bottom shelf. That would have been OK, though, if checkout options had not been very long line for human checker, or a digital self check with loooong pause after each item to wait for me to bag it. In future, I will stick with Sprouts.
Very friendly staff. I live close and this is the only grocery store I have ever really liked going to. Smiths has decent pricing. This particular Smiths has a fine liquor section that offers higher end brands of cognac, scotch and more if your looking for a present for a liquor connessuer this is the place to visit.
I used to like shopping here. I would shop here about 2 to 3 times a week. Now I try to avoid it. Poppy and Jacob I love. Employees are always openly talking bad about customers and other coworkers. There is the one cashier that’s so loud and rude to me. If I remember her name I’ll come back and update this review.
The customer service here is fantastic. I'm always greeted by a friendly face. My only gripes are moderately high prices and an unusually shaped parking lot with narrow lanes and sometimes bad/confused drives due to no arrows painted on street. Other than that, it's a clean, friendly, well stocked grocery store.
I paid cash for my transaction an was charged the 40 cent difference to round up my total because the cashier "just opened her line an had not coin change" how is this my fault? I'm paying the correct amount just because you establishment isn't prepared I have to pay more? I plan on taking this to cooperate.
What grocery store doesn't have oranges or any pork stocked? No cashiers only self checkout. Would rather go to Wal-Mart if that's the case. At least they stock oranges and pork. Update: still rank a 1 as they continuously never have normal everyday things. Whoever manages this store is an idiotic failure.
Worst Smith's in Albuquerque. Long lines, surly help, and the most asinine liquor department rule: you have to make separate purchases for alcohol and food. Do your self a favor: go to ANY other grocery store, or ANY other Smith's in town. This store is a dumpster fire.
Beth, the lead doctor in the pharmacy, is absolutely charming & a beautiful person. She always asks if I need any advice or have any concerns about my medication & she wears her job with a smile. I wish there were more people like her in Albuquerque!! Good job, smiths!
It's an okay place to shop for weekly groceries but don't care if i go somewhere else. Overly suspicious of anyone who goes in stores. I know it's bad right now but heck..... Give some of us a break, so i didn't put on my best Sunday outfit to go shopping for milk.
Some exec sitting behind a desk did too much thinking and ruined this store. Good luck decoding what door is open when, where the carts are, and which lane to check out in. The most basic things have been made very complicated. Looking for a new store to shop.
I wanted to update this review and acknowledge that Smiths has really upped its shopping cart game. The past month they have actually had carts in the store when I walk in. I’m and grateful, thank you for fixing this problem so people can shop here again!
Later in the evening they only have self check out open, and that is fine for most purchases, but I have had it happen that for some reason everything I check makes the computer think that it needs help from the one attendant who is covering 6 or 8 lanes.
Needed eggs and Smith's opens at 6am which was perfect. Eggs were a really good price and a good size. I like being able to pick up what I need for breakfast and not having to be rushed to feed everyone before they leave. Employees were nice and helpful.
It's a pretty terrific grocery store. Low prices, a good selection, fast checkout times. They'll occasionally not have something exotic I need, but in general, they have whatever I want. Also has a good selection of vegetarian and vegan specialty foods.
This is a decent Smith's location, as far as selection and cleanliness goes. The employees are friendly. I dislike the layout. It's super confusing, especially the way the frozen stuff stretches across the back wall. They need more frozen vegan options.
Second trip to a Smith's store and filled a cart only to find out they don't run debt cards as credit any more. Wast of time, if they posted changes on the door as you walk in, my time and the person who has to unload my cart wouldn't have been wasted.
I have visited 2 different Smiths in 2 days. they both were decent prices but the layout of foods was confusing to a newcomer. me I thought the employees were super friendly! it also felt a bit dark and I prefer a well lit, spotless clean store. …
Either they don't know what buttercreme frosting is, or they don't have it, but I always order buttercreme frosting for my cakes and I never get it at this or the Fair Plaza Smith's. If you don't have it, please take it off your website as an option.
I have been shopping at this Smith's for 20 years (and others around town). This store is excellent, a great neighborhood feel, friendly and helpful! In these years of COVID-19 the store is taking disease seriously and we THANK THEM!! …
We were lucky to catch on some good prices and the SMITH'S GROCERY STORE IS very Neat and Clean place to shop, especially the bank teller was awesomely Talkative ❣️ we're looking forward to shop in the future, Thank you! …
Everything you need is here, very vice selection of produce and meats. Busy store. Great staff. A regular place last 40 years. The Rewards Club is definitely worth joining for the fuel points which convert into some nice savings on gasoline.
I was promised a call back from corporate within 24 hours about the incident Thursday night. It’s now Saturday morning & no call. Way to go Smith’s. After 15 years of shopping there I’ll spend my money elsewhere. My wife & I we’re accused
One of my favorite places to shop. Get the rewards card if you come often. This Smiths is A LOT safer than the one on Yale. There's more choices and more parking spaces. The lines are good too, especially if you like using self check out.
