I went recently after seeing their beautiful red and white sign which caught my attention on 86th street. It was bright and welcoming just like the family that it represents. I ordered tamales with rice and beans, a raspberry margarita that was out of this world. Everything they serve packs a full zest of flavor. Absolutely amazing!! I have dined there 4 times since I found out about them a few weeks ago. Great job!!! It is truly like family when you enter. Keep it up!!! Do not come unless you are very hungry. I'm not kidding. $16.99 will get you a nice plate full in many restaurants, but Somos Familia Mexican Restaurant gives you 2 fully loaded plates for the price with the Special Dinner (see the pictures). You get 1 each Chalupa, Taco, Chile Relleno (very good sez my chile relleno loving wife), tamale, and an enchilada along with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. I know what you are thinking..."yeah, the beans are bland and the rice is like dry and OMG!, did they even cook this?" I can assure you the beans are tasty and the rice is moist and fully cooked. The Esquite (Elote) for $5 was a 12 oz cereal bowl full and Oh So Good! The happy hour from 2PM to 6PM M-F is a great deal too with the drink specials and the cheap appetizers. A 64oz pitcher of Modelo only set us back $10. We Will Be Back! Only downside is that the restrooms are not wheelchair accessable.

The front door is kind of ackaward for wheelchair patrons, but there are plenty of places a wheelchair customer can be seated.

I am very impressed with the level of service, the food, the bar and atmosphere of Somos Familia is great. The music isn’t too loud and there is a nice variety of music played. The food is amazing as well, and the restaurant is very clean. Would definitely recommend!

The food was amazing, the drinks made the food a million times better, and we were in the bar alone so it felt like we were VIP, like I rented the restaurant. It was so clean and the lights were amazing. The service was wonderful, everyone was a huge help to making this birthday a complete success!!! Much love to everyone. The atmosphere was wonderful, with getting access to the television it make the mood way easier to make and huge thanks in the drinks. Definitely got us where we needed to be haha!!!

It was easy getting here, I stay down the street so parking wasn’t hard at all.

To start, outstanding customer service. They were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurants atmosphere and decor were also top-notch. The margaritas are delicious, with just the right balance of tequila to mix. I had the carne asada street taco, and he had the birria tacos. Which I highly recommend. The consomme was so flavorful that I just wanted to drink it. I also had esquites, and it was packed with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant. Already have plans to return. I just want to say thank you to the owners and staff for the wonderful service and delicious meal.

Based on the reviews, I had high hopes for this place. Host was super friendly upon arrival. The place was nicely decorated, clean, and spacious. They also had some fun photo ops areas. Server friendly enough. The chips and salsa were tasty. Main dishes were just alright and not really a good value for the price based on serving size and taste. I was disappointed in my birria tacos and have had better elsewhere. Husband’s enchiladas weren’t anything special either. It’s fine if you’re in the immediate area, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

This family owned restaurant has a great atmosphere. Very clean and open, separate bar area that is super pretty and lots of TVs for watching sports. The food was fantastic and super fresh. It came out quickly and the servers were all very friendly and attentive. We had the torta ahogada, tacos de carnitas to eat and the tres amigas margarita flight and agua de horchata that is made fresh in house. Also super surprising, they make their own wings sauce in house and it is SUPER good! We will be back!

So I follow this company on ig and decided to go after seeing many post. Beautiful space! Very clean! Very inviting! Margarita was just ok. I didn't like it was 10 extra dollars for cazadores My tacos came out cold. There was only one other couple in there when I ordered. 3 tacos. 1 24 oz Margit 37 bucks plus a tip. Im going to try one more time at some point but this first time around I'm not at all impressed.

We’ve been coming here for a few years. I haven’t been inside since they remodeled and it’s beautiful! The staff is amazing. Tons of food for great price. Manager came by and checked on us. He’s so friendly. Their chili relano is one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend!

So this used to be the Cancun Mexican Restaurant, in which was bought out. New Owners, and I must say, I enjoyed the food much more. The staff was courteous & kind. My lunch was excellent, stop in and try this place for lunch! 08/29/23 had lunch here again today, still impressed with their food, really good!

really good food and very comfortable in there. the menu's font is too small to read & not put together very well at all - its like whoever made the menu didn't think to read it all the way through before putting it out there. a lot of food items spilled into other columns so it made it really easy to not read all of it. margarita was a fantastic waitress!

Great food but they never update order status so its usually cold. Place had one table, might have been just staff as one of them stood up when i came in the door. I picked up my own food and they sat back down.

I have been searching for authentic street tacos since I moved back to the Midwest. My friends. This place is it! Starting with a creamy guacamole, yummy quest and two delicious salsas with fresh cooked chips. I will 100% be coming back. ❤️
