Consistently late trains make this entire mode of transportation unreliable. My family has used Amtrak around 10 times since moving to San Diego. In that time we've had literally half of our trips arrive late, and three of those trips had over a two hour delay. It's a complete embarrassment to the entire nation when other countries have such excellent trains. Recently we weren't even able to get a refund from the station after a 2+ hour delay because their system was down in addition to the train being late for maintenance reasons. Suffice it to say that Amtrak does not have their act together. If you want to be somewhere even remotely on time, do not take Amtrak.
I am only giving it 2 stars because this is a train station and it met its purpose for me. But it was so disappointing to me that there was little to no shade for patrons. There were no employees to help direct us onto the appropriate platform. Everybody asked me what platform they had to be on, and I had to tell them I did not know either. Everyone I asked had no idea. The intercom is barley audible. It is a guessing game coming to this station which makes traveling stressful. Pick another station if you can. I will next time.
Seems like a ghost station. There was nobody there at all and the train zoomed right by and didn't even stop! Then I read my schedule and it said it wouldn't , so make sure you know if it will stop there or not! Kinda weird.
Its clean and convenient. But why is there no signage on which direction the train is going?? Very frustrating especially since the north/south directions are opposite to the standard "right side of road" conventions.
There NEEDS to be signs that show the directions of the train. The southbound side is the side closer to Sorrento Valley Road. The northbound side is the other one. It's the opposite of regular traffic directions.
The Coaster used to be a good experience, but trains are now often late and frequently cancelled. The platforms are crowded, have no restrooms and no protection from the sun or rain. NCTD must hate their riders.
I wouldn't mind the Coaster not showing up on time for either of its last two schedules if the patrons were at least told why. We shoud be told when the trains won't arrive so we can try to make other plans.
Clean, organize station with plenty of parking, no bathrooms, get your tickets online or the automatic machines. Pay attention to the sings about which side of the track is you are going North/South
Clean station but with no staff. If you want to go south, stay with the side close to the L&W Lumber; North, the other side. There is no sign to direct you.
A short bike ride and I can have a great time downtown for $5. Too bad they now banned booze, the train ride used to be a lot more lively back then.
Great little station. Quick and Easy to get rides. Always loved taking the Amtrak. Surprised my then girl friend at the station. Good memories here
Platform 2 (west platform, shopping center side) - northbound (LA). Platform 1 - southbound (SD) In awe that they aren't labelled in any way...
No signs or information about which platform to use going north or south and there is not enough time to cross if your on the wrong side
It's a nice area it's like the silicon valley Some good restaurants, picante.mamas pizza And you can ride your bike
A station that does not connect directly to the other useful ones. It’s okay.
Platform 1 : Southbound, San Diego Platform 2 : Northbound, Los Angeles.
Great location but the station needs upgrades like overhead protection.
Two of my vehicles have been damaged while cars being parked
This station is closed
Too expensive
It's okay.
