"I was treated with disrespect by the doctor, implying I can't read rather than admitting the appointment letter failed to mention what the appointment was about"
"I had my baby at Southmead recently, and I had a really positive experience! I can only praise the staff for their skills and how well looked after they made me feel"
"Excellent! I'm from Cardiff and went in for a hip resurfacing surgery (as this op is not done in wales) every member of staff I came across were helpful professional and friendly! Doctors and surgeons were excellent"
"i received a letter to say i have blood cancer, not happy with that result, then had another letter to say 1st letter was wrong, they made me feel so depressed they ruined my week end, i have a lot wrong with me which i have treatment in the qeh birmingham, i really do hate southmead,"
"A large hospital with many different specialist wards"
I was treated with disrespect by the doctor, implying I can't read rather than admitting the appointment letter failed to mention what the appointment was about. As well as making judgemental comments about the food I eat. Not giving me any advice if I should go ahead with the surgery or not.
I had my baby at Southmead recently, and I had a really positive experience! I can only praise the staff for their skills and how well looked after they made me feel. The midwives, the doctors and maternity support staff are all excellent. Special shout out to Kay and Dr Hunt who are amazing!
Excellent! I'm from Cardiff and went in for a hip resurfacing surgery (as this op is not done in wales) every member of staff I came across were helpful professional and friendly! Doctors and surgeons were excellent. From the porters to doctors and surgeons everyone was helpful and plesent.

A large hospital with many different specialist wards. Lots of staff ready to help on entry to get you to the correct location. Machines to scan appointment letter to confirm arrival. Appointment waiting times can be long in my experience but staff are very friendly and caring
I had surgery at Gate 21, Level 3, Brunel building and found the whole experience from beginning to end, very good. The team of people who dealt with me were kind, polite and very professional. They put me at ease and kept me informed of everything that was to be done.
Went for stroke surgery. Building impressive. The 3 private rooms I was put in the paint was peeling off. TV barely worked. Toilet OK. Always noisy. Beds very uncomfortable out of 3 hospitals I went to. Very little sleep. Food portions smaller too.
A big thank you to all the staff who looked after me in A&E on Sunday 27th. Thank you too to the staff on AMU and ward 27B. The NHS would be nothing without the kind, caring, and dedicated staff. The people who work for the NHS make the NHS! ⭐️
10 hours wait at the A&E for a 63 year old (my mom) who had lost balance and fell off and opened the wound of a recent vein surgery in her palm. I’m 7 months pregnant and had to stay with her to help translate. All I asked was to call me to
The Brunel building is the main part of Southmead Hospital. The building is absolutely massive and can take several minutes just to walk from one side to the other. There is a car park situated with the building, it is free for the first 20
I had surgery here today was the first time visiting the hospital and was very clean. I could smell it was nice and clean as soon as walking in, all of the staff were extremely nice and gave me great quality care, they explained everything
I’ve received a letter that I have an appointment for physiotherapy at 15:15. I was not announced about anything else so I though it will be a talk about the exercises that they gave me last year for my back. When I got here to my surprise
My husband was admitted in the burns unit (gate 33 a). He received the best of care. From consultants, nurses, dieticians, physios to porters, cleaners, etc… he was treated with respect, empathy and professionalism. As a result he was soon
This hospital is the best in the West! I had a PCNL done on the 24th July by Mr Joe Philip. He saw me a hour before the operation, and he knew that I was scared. But he made me feel at ease. It was a 2 hour operation (discharged today.) I
Where shall I start? So, being someone who doesn’t trust the NHS and hasn’t been to the doctors in over 15 years, I was in unbearable complete agony. As expected the GP assigned had no appointments (maytrees practise, a shame to society).
The only reason that ive given 2 stars is for the doctors and consultants and this is not a reflection of them and the amazing job they do they are outstanding! However Our experience in ward 6B the neurology ward has been awful twice now
No one like to wait but some time it's worth while you wait and see how hard NHS staff work to give 100% to each patient. They all have kind heart and excellent skills to make smile on some one face who's not feeling well. Really Impress
My father was admitted yesterday and there were a couple of issues that I blamed the staff for and complained via email and by phone. I was very wrong. I visited him today and was able to see the first class care and compassion the staff
Had to pick up child who had been taken to A & E. Huge, modern building. At 5am it was rather empty but friendly staff on hand. One thing I would suggest is that the signage to A&E is improved because at night I could not see any signs.
The men's toilet's are so bad, you cannot breathe, the devide panals for the stalls are coated in piss, and are swelling from all the urine soaked into the wood, the hit of ammonia is so bad and potent...I worked for years reinstalling
Extremely helpful volunteers, helping with checking-in machines and directing to clinics. The new hospital design is light, bright and airey. Plenty of comfortable seating in the atrium to wait for patients, clinics or people watching.
I am currently a patient on ward 7b after major abdominal surgery last Friday. If you come here after your surgery you have nothing to fear regarding your care. The care here has been beyond exceptional at every level. Happy, friendly
I truly impressive hospital with fantastic staff. The hospital complex itself it spacious and modern - with shops and cafes etc for visitors and residents alike. I spent two weeks in the burns unit hear - and whilst it was a horrible
I recently had a day surgery to block viens feeding a benign tumour in kidney which was getting too big. I really can not praise the nurses, surgeon and entire team enough. The entire day went to schedule, no waiting around, and a
I had a gallbladder/gallstone removal today in the medirooms, my nurse (Heidi) was an absolute god send. All the staff were incredible with my care but Heidi really stuck out for me. Well done Heidi and thankyou very much!!
I had surgery Friday 12th May. I unexpectedly had to stay in over night. From the moment I arrived, through out the surgery and being cared for after the staff were all amazing. I'm sorry I don't remember their names.
I think my various studies in to the nature of human beings has often showed that if one is given too much praise and rarely criticized then more often than not they lose whatever qualities were worth praising.
As a stranger to the area I needed to attend the hospital due to Shortness of breath and rib pain. I could not fault the excellent service I received. All the staff were so kind and caring. A credit to the nhs.
A good hospital that serves Bristol. The hospital is very large and there are many different departments here. There is an accident and emergency department here. They have parking all around
People waiting 5+ hours for a consultation. Waiting room full of fed up people and no compassion from staff. Shortbread breaks are clearly more important than a room of people, some with
On Friday October 13th 2023, I was a patient are Dept 24, to have a lesion removed from my right shoulder. The care, service and kindness I received was First Class from arrival thro to
The staff are very friendly and see to you as quick as they can. Yes there can be a long wait, but they do their best to get all the tests you need. Very grateful for them
Why yes, I found the experience of having a camera stuck up my peehole most pleasant. The conversation while partially naked was also good for my nerves. 5 of 5 stars.
I like this hospital, it looks modern and there is a lot of medical equipment that I saw in the operating room before my surgery that I underwent there... …
Within 2 1/2 hours my partner was CT scanned and discharged, excellent nurses with a lot of compassion and highly undervalued . Thank you for everything you do
I had an appointment at the allergy clinic. Waiting area was clean and bright. All the staff were friendly and caring. Ready to make me feel relaxed and
I was admitted to Southmead through A&E, having been repatriated from Indonesia. I stayed for 9 days with various broken bones and a collapsed lung.
Modern well laid out hospital. Facilities include 2 coffee shops and Costcutter store. Plenty of volunteers on hand to give people directions.
Brilliant if you're on a good ward. Big rooms, a tv, massive windows, and really helpful staff. A and E, not so brilliant!
