I’ve been using Spanky’s ever since I got into Magic: The Gathering about a year ago. Their website is always very reflective of what they have in store, even if it’s a $.10 card. Ordering online is easy, the store has a huge selection of cards, boxes, mats, dice, pokemon, and anything else you could think of! I’ve been meaning to write my review for a while, but today I placed an online order for about 240 cards (!!) and went to the store today for the pickup. I totally forgot that the Phyrexia release was the same day. When I got there they weren’t able to fill my order but were very nice about it. The guy at the counter (sorry I didn’t catch your name) made it a clear point that they wanted to accommodate ME! We got my order setup to ship whenever they got it filled, which I’m sure isn’t a fun task to deal with during a set release. Long winded, but this store is clean, awesome, and cares about its audience. I highly recommend them and plan to use Spanky’s Card Shop for all my Magic needs for years to come!

Edit to my original review below. First time in the store was great. Love the artwork on the wall, collection is huge, plenty of seating for games, and was told to check the buy list on their site for cards they would be willing to accept as trade in. Second time in brought some oversized cards from commander sets and was told they won't take them even though they were on the buy list. Frustrating that I wasted my lunch hour to drive to a place just to be given contradictory information. Edit: About 10 hours later now, and the improper information on the buy list was corrected the same day I brought it up. Still frustrating that the mix up happened, but major props to the store runners for making such a quick turnaround on this. I would still suggest reaching out and confirming cards are still wanted by the store before just checking the site and bringing them in, but glad to see this team cares about their store and making sure their site is accurate and user friendly.

Was in the area and saw this store on Google maps. I walked in and was impressed by the clean look. I collect Pokemon and Yugi-Oh cards, and was not surprised by the lack of Yugi-Oh, as they are not everywhere. This is a MTG card store after all. What I found most disappointing was when I found a box of older pokemon cards, which is what I seek. I asked if I could look through them and was told I could not, I could only look what they had in stock on the terminal or order online, as they had them in alphabetical order and did not want them to be messed up. I found this very displeasing and I was slightly offended that the personnel thought that I did not respect other people's cards. I ask that if you are not to have people look through your stock, do not put them where passersby can see them. Do not come here if you want to browse or look through what they have to offer. I feel as if they value the card more than the customer and their experience.

If you’re into Magic the Gathering, this may be a good place to go. However if you’re into Pokémon, find somewhere else.They have a lot of graded cards and a few singles. We wanted to look through the pokémon singles and when my boyfriend went to ask to look through them, the man seemed like he didn’t care and wanted to get back to talking to other people about Magic. He wouldn’t let us look through them and just flipped through them super fast. Why would I want to stand and awkwardly watch someone flip through cards to see which I liked? They had a ton of booster boxes/packs and when we asked how much a booster pack was the worker didn’t even know and acted like we were wasting his time. We weren’t greated either even though there were 3 guys working. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Try Level One instead.

Tried ordering 8 cards online for a number of my decks, and the order was canceled since the cards were rising in price. The automated response: "When cards are part of a buyout/price spike we cancel all orders that are trying to take advantage of our price updater not updating in time. We are built on supporting our local community for cards and not looking to support customers solely looking to purchase cards of this nature. In the future if you need 1 for a commander deck or 4 for a constructed deck try doing that next time." Dont offer online orders if you aren't going to honor your online orders.

We are from Oklahoma and are glad we stopped in! This is one of the nicest looking card shops I have walked into. It was clean and esthetically pleasing. The artwork on the wall is beautiful. They are stocked with all Trading cards but their Magic the Gathering and Pokemon section were stocked with old items. I enjoy seeing older sealed products but they are hard to come by in stores. I picked up a few duel decks and packs. This is a great place to shop for singles or sealed product. They have the most product I have seen in one shop. If this was my LGS I would spend a lot of time in here.

Spankys is my go to in KC for Magic singles. They have a great selection and the staff is very knowledgeable. I almost exclusively shop here for everything Magic related. My only complaint is on their site they advertise casual commander, but last time I went I played against players with really strong blue/red decks. They were generating like 20 mana and casting 10 spells a turn. Which resulted in turn 4 wins in 3 separate games! I'm newer to the game, but this seems way more competitive than casual. If the games were more casual, then this place would be perfect.

Just made an online order from Spankys here on Feb 4th. The next morning I received a refund notifications, So I contacted the store to inquire about my order. It's been 3 days, the store has left me on read and now my refund has pushed through and its the wrong amount so I have not only not gotten my products but some how been fleeced for the wrong amount. I'm pretty dang upset about this and will defiantly not be recommending friends or members of my gaming community purchase product from this store. Watch your self with this stores online portal.

Fantastic store made possible by great owners and a great community. Owners have always been extremely nice and receptive to everybody, and in large have made all their events fun to go to. Excellent place for newcomers. I left approximately ~200$ worth of my cards at store, someone turned them in and the owners were kind enough to ship it back to my address in Wichita. Definitely my favorite MtG store I've been to, and highly recommend to everyone both local and passing through Kansas City.

My first time in was around February or March of 2019 and I’ve pretty much been a regular ever since. I love spankys! They’ve fostered an awesome community! The store owners are very down to earth and cool. Their prices are very competitive and often favor the players. Im definitely a customer for life! This shop has good prices and fair trade in value if you want store credit. Took some stars off because of the poor shopping experience. Staff gets pretty grumpy if you shop around or change your mind on a purchase. There is also no advertising or info for any promos. Today was the official DMU release and I didn’t see or hear anything about it in store.

Very honest owner! I recently bought my son the secret rare Charizard from burning shadows at this card shop. The owner indicated the card would probably grade an 8 maybe 9, to not get my son’s hopes up. PSA just mailed us the card back graded at a gem mint 10. Needless to say, my son was super excited and so was I. Thanks again to Spanky’s card shop!!

Wish I could give 5 stars. Spanky's great but shipping is not. I live a few states up ordered a package to have 2 business day shipping. It took 3 business days to even ship and arrived about a week after I ordered it. Still extremely happy with my purchase and still highly recommended shopping here, just wish the shipping was better.

This place seems to be mostly about Magic the Gathering. We went to get some pokemon cards. They did have a good amount in stock and prices were decent. They do trade ins conveniently all online. The cash price is about 20% of value. Trade in is around 30-40% of value. Keep in mind that was just looking at Pokemon cards.

Great selection of pokemon, flesh&blood, and magic cards! Spanky and all the other workers there are also very knowledgeable and can answer any magic questions, and even have experience in other, more niche card games, too! They also ship in plastic protectors in bubble mailers so the cards were in really good condition.

My friends and I have been coming here for years for MTG cards and prerelease events. The shop and play areas are always very clean and the prices are always the best. Spanky and the other staff are very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. 10/10 come support your local game store.

Staff was very friendly and welcoming. As a newer magic player they helped me by answering questions I had and gave recommendations on which decks would suit me. The prices are good and there's a good variety of products to choose from. Looking forward to coming back!

Great local shop to play magic the gathering in. The best out of the card shops in the area for magic the gathering events in my experience. Nice crowd makes you feel welcome, the commander league on Sundays and the Friday night drafts are my favorite events.

I bought 6 cards for 38 bucks which was fine and was willing to pay the price. The only problem was the 10 dollar tax I was charged which wasn’t the best plus, staff gets a little upset for little mistakes or if you change your mind
