This location of Sport Chek needs to train their employees and management to improve their communication. Several times I shopped there I've dealt with employees who suck at communication. On Wednesday August 28, 2019 after my retail work shift (after 7pm) I went to Sport Chek to check on a Barcelona 2019/20 that I was previously looking for, I asked the cashier if I can place an online order at their location, I waited 20-30 minutes to speak with someone who has poor listening/communication skills (ABSOLUTELY POOR LISTENING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS) . I asked to speak with the manager (Janis) about the product I was looking for. Unfortunately, she decided to argue in front of other customers and continued to interrupt me every time I spoke. Furthermore, when I left the store I spoke to another individual outside the property to inform them about my previous customer service experiences the store manager decided to walk outside their property and try to chase me out of the area literally. The store manager at that point attempted to violate my constitutional rights to freedom of speech/expression. This manager has no class whatsoever, she has done this several times since I met her 4 months ago after work (mid-late April 2019). I've told her multiple times to improve on communication in which no effort has been made. Another incident that remains unresolved to this day was on October 30, 2018 (I wasn't scheduled to my retail work that day, but had to cover for a co-worker who wasn't feeling well that day between 12-6pm), I went there after 6pm to check out winter jackets at the time to prepare for the winter season. A previous softgoods employee approached me twice and asked me "how can I help you today?" The 1st time I explained to her that I was looking for a good quality winter jacket at a reasonable price, she took me to a different part of the store without explaining anything. The 2nd time she approached me and asked the same question. I informed her that the prices at the time were overpriced, she then explained to me that there is a clearance section for the winter jackets and she promised to help me after she received a call to the front desk. I waited patiently for the employee to return. She did not return!!! However, a previous softgoods manager (Samantha) approached me, but I attempted to explain what the issue was at the time, she kept interrupting me every time I spoke because she was so fixated on "customer service" she didn't have the patience to hear what I had to say. We both agreed to give her and opportunity to deliver great customer service, but in return she had to give me an opportunity to speak with the employee that approached me twice and failed to help me at all. Unfortunately, Samantha did not give me any opportunity to speak with that employee and she also failed to resolve the problem when I returned a week later on November 7, 2018 before retail work to discuss the issue. I asked her "what's the solution to the problem?" Her response was you tell me what the solution is. Isn't a store manager supposed to solve any customer service issues and you know manage a store in a retail environment? Note: I have to say one positive thing about the store is the quality of products that are at Sport Chek Stockyards. However, communication/customer service is lacking in comparison to Sport Chek Yorkdale.
Went in to get a minor tune job. Got my bike back from Tien at the service desk. I noticed the bike making a noise that wasn't there before while riding it out of the parking lot. I brought the bike straight back and was faced with attitude from Tien. He noticed the noise was coming from the front wheel and wanted to take it out for a test ride but then realized he couldn't because he was too short for my seat. Tien then switched his tune and said that it sounded like normal bike noise. I was polite and said that it wasn't there before and the wheel might be misaligned. He disagreed and I said that if I take my bike in for a tune I want it back the same or better and not worse. Tien then said "I understand, I'm the same way with my car. If it was my bike I wouldn't care. My bike could get stolen and I wouldn't care, but if my car got stolen I would care." Really. Nice to see you don't care about your stores product. I held my tounge and continued to be polite. After realizing I was not leaving, Tien then said he didn't hear the noise. He took the bike back and wrote the note making an emphasis on "customer says" instead of "there is a noise in the front wheel" on the note. The service to look at my bike again would be free. A few days later I got my bike back from Matt who was great and showed me that my front wheel was indeed misaligned. He showed me how to align it with a trick too. Maybe Tien was just a new employee, but that experience rubbed me wrong. I have returned my bike after maintenance here before and the tech noticed something which added on sales and helped me too. This is a bad way of dealing with customers and running a business. The mod in black was witnessing the exchange between Tien and I as well and sided with him. Although Matt was great, Tien soured my experience and I don't know if I'll be back next year.
Generally speaking the staff of the store is polite and helpful, however It never took me 3 days to purchase a bike ever in my life. First I had to go here to purchase a bike, then they told me that it's needed to be assembled and that I have to come tomorrow because the other bikes have to be assembled as well. So I came to the store the following day excited to pick up my bike and cycle home. I picked it up, biked 2 meters outside of the store and as soon as I pressed the rear brake the brake cable snapped. I returned the bike to the bike department saying that the brake cable snapped. The bike mechanic was not present and the staff members could not fix it, so they told me to come tomorrow and the problem would be solved. I was really disappointed to hear the news, so I went home and came the following day. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I lived 5 minutes away from the store, but it takes me 1 hour getting there one-way by public transport, costing me time, money and energy. SO I came on the third day, the bike brake wire was fixed and I cycled home. I usually do not write reviews, but what really topped it all off is that on the third day it rained and once I got home I was all wet, dirty and got a little bit sick. The manager told me that the bike mechanic is a professional who worked for 11 years on bikes, but what kind of a professional especially with 11 years of experience would make such a simple mistake of not tightening the brake cable properly. Overall such inconvenience for me created a bad image of your store and I would definitely not visit it again. Paying $500 for a bike and having to waste 6 hours of commuting time, wasting traveling costs and eventually almost getting sick is the outcome of buying a bicycle at your store.
I spend thousands of dollars at sports check and supporting the company. I know that it's tough times right now but if you seriously want customers to be happy and also buying stuff from the store they need to be able to try on the clothes it's a very expensive store and nobody's just going to take a wing on it and hopefully it fits specially females when the clothes are super fitted to begin with... I've been told by a manager at sport check they do not have their changing rooms open because the virus could spread person-to-person I totally understand that but what I don't understand is you can try on the clothes at home come back if they don't fit and get your money back so what would make a difference if the changing rooms were open. If somebody has the virus it would be on the clothes now either way. Or when people just picking up the clothes just looking at the clothes in the store and putting them back onto the Rack, if the person has the virus it's already being tampered with. Another thing that sports check could do is have a person that's already assisting you for the changing rooms could spray down the room, for each person that goes in it would only take a couple minutes to clean it and make higher volumes of sales I'm very disappointed in sports check. I don't know if I will be returning anytime soon make your customers happy and want them to come back especially when you have high end prices.. be creative I see a lot of clothing stores are doing these measurements to make the customers happy and wanted them to come back and also creating sales for the business....
I find this place frustrating to shop at. They never have my size or stock what I'm looking for, they always direct me to their website. To purchase something with free shipping you have to place the order through their device. The site on their device was not working very well. I had an in store coupon which the staff said I could not use if making an online purchase, I had to get the manager involved to correct this. They sent the purchase request to the cash, I had to ask them what size was selected, they asked me what shoes size I was and they told me the size range for the socks but they told me the incorrect information. The shipping information in the email I received said the package would arrive in 1-2 days. It took their system 2 days to register the purchase and then 2 days to ship the item. I received the item and discovered that they told me the wrong information about the size so now I have to return the item. The return documentation says that I have to pay return shipping and that I can not do an exchange so I have to return the item and purchase the item at regular price. Loosing the discounted price and paying extra to return the item. I honestly don't see how their business is going to last if this is their business model. It is certainly deterring me from wanting to shop here ever again. What a waist of time and money.
Ordered skates online (last pair) for Doordash delivery at midnight on a Monday. They called and attempted to deliver at 7:30am on Tuesday the next day with no warning, and on top of that, I was under the weather and asleep, hence why I ordered for delivery. I did not want them left at the door because of potential theft and had selected "hand to me" in door dash. All things a careful person would do. Driver returned they items it to the store. I tried to call them with no voice as I am under the weather, I had to repeat my story three times to three employees. Manager told me "unfortunately they couldn't help me" and they could not redeliver, nor would this one pair of skates show up in their inventory for a week, and the returned last pair of skates would be refunded. I didn't even have a voice to try to make it right. Manager was not empathetic or helpful, what a terrible way to treat customers, and poor scheduling for delivery services app. 7:30am delivery! The store opens at 10:00am, I assumed it would be after 10:00am. What a mess.
Poor customer service from store manager. I placed an order online and received an email that the order was ready for pickup at the store. There’s a sign out front directing in-store pickups to the Service Shop (where the bikes are). No sign of any employees at the Service Shop counter, despite the signs indicating this was the place for online order pickups. An employee in a blue polo shirt and no name tag walked over and asked if I was picking up a bike. I explained I was pickup up an online order and the sign out front directed me here. He said there was no sign out front and suggested I was confused. He then identified himself as the store manager (no name provided) and said that a staff member must have posted this sign by mistake. He retrieved my online order from the back. Next time I shop from Sport Chek I’ll opt for delivery; this location is poorly managed.
My wife and I just were at the store on Monday. We went there to find some items that the website said were at that location. We spoke to a young man who referred us to a clothing manager. A young lady named Janice who was very polite and helped us find all of the items we were looking to buy. She was fast and didn't keep us long at all. We were so impressed as usually the staff don't do anything to help but she and her staff were more than helpful. This is a great store experience and I hope the company takes my review to heart and take care of the staff. My family and I usually shop at Sporting Life but Janice and her staff have made my family SPORTCHEK customers!! Sincerely, Brandon and Terry
Nothing special about this location, I dealt with some lazy staff that moved extremely slow. I had them literally yawn in my face, mask-off yawn in my face. If a person lacks personal manners and wants to behave like this they are likely in the wrong industry. If you have a decent bike and need maintenance my advice to you is bring it into a decent bike shop, history repeats its self and you may walk out of Sport Chek with more issues on your bike than you started with. When discussing other hard-goods equipment with a manager had such a 'matter of fact' attitude. Until I Googled it and showed them, it's okay to be wrong just admit when someone else is correct.
This location is alright. Parking is good when the mall is not busy. Unfortunately this is the closest location to my home. Every single time I shop and I am cashing out or returning an item I always receive the nastiest disrespectful attitude from one specific employee. For some reason always decides to single me out being rude, creating a hassle. The name of the customer service employee is Luisa according to my receipt. I highly advise management or their supervisors to provide better customer service training for this specific employee. Next time I encounter such rude service from this employee I will be reaching out to corporate as I am extremely fed up.
This was the best experience I ever had with a store in my life! first it started with my scooter wheel in the back. It was really worn down and made a weird noise. Shean helped me fix it and he was really nice about doing it and he said it would cost 7$. So after that I wanted to speak to the manager about Shean's amazing work. So after that he said "you must really like scooting" then I said "no I prefer hockey". So then he lead me over to the hockey selection and gave me a CCM RBZ130 stick. The stick was originally 100$ but gave it to me for 30$! And by the way i'm 11 years old.
Had a very poor experience this morning. Store was not very busy and we wanted to get some ski goggles, which were in a locked cabinet. It took us 15 minutes to get someone to open it for us and she was not helpful AT ALL. While we were trying on some of the goggles, another customer asked her if they sold ski bags, and she responded with "I don't know - I don't think I have ever seen anything that resembles a ski bag here". The place was not very well stocked for winter sports and seemed like no one really wanted to help customers looking for specific things.
Amazing experience at the cycle section Exceptional service provided by Johan! He was patient and extremely knowledgeable about the cycles. Loved the way he handled our requirements and took time to explain the smallest of details about the equipment. Talking to him was delightful. Jeremiah too was very knowledgeable and guided us well for the right cycle to go for. Kehzar was very helpful in guiding us through the store. Overall I had a great experience in the cycle section. Purchased without any hesitation after talking to all the folks
Some horrible people working in this store, when I enter with my friends to shop we are instantly followed and watched carefully by almost every worker in the store we are told to get out of the store for absolutely no reasons, but when I enter with my non coloured friends we are treated like how any shopper should be treated. On one ocassion a worker accused me of stealing when the detector did not go off. She then continued to take my bag and look through all my belongings. This store makes me absolutely sick.
Very positive shopping experience for winter gear, not crowded at all and no waiting in line to get into the store. The sales associate, Jermaine, helped me find the right boot and provided me with tips for fitting, grip and other specs to decide between 2 boots: McKinley and Sorel. The checkout was smooth Advice: shop on Black Friday to get discounted price on premium winter jackets and boots. Unfortunately the snow gloves weren't on sale but it's ok.
my experience with this location was so awful. I called before coming in, looking for an italy jersey at the time, and the girl said that they had, and would put on hold for me. i drive all the way there, and they take about 20 minutes to find someone that put it on hold for me, and the girl told me, oh sorry its not on hold and they dont have it, and they would HAVE to look for it in the back, as if that isnt their job to do. will not be returning.
Went in to get my skates sharpened. I was waiting 30 minutes for someone to come sharpen them and was told multiple times someone would be there shortly. Almost every time I glanced around for an employee there was at least one of them on their phone. I don’t know who hired these people but it’s extremely disappointing. Ultimately left without the sharpening because of their incompetence. Would not recommend if you need your skates sharpened.
Bought running shoes there today. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable the staff was. I had been to a speciality running shoe store earlier, they had fancy equipment that they ignored, and was shown 3 shoes that were "all just as good". Sport Chek's staff was attentive, explained differences between shoes, brought me a variety to try on and I left with one pair and will definitely be buying my next pair from this store.
The SportChek Stockyards is on the second level of the northern most point of the Stockyard shopping complex. Don’t let its hidden location fool you. It has all the space of most SportCheks with the selection to boot. It will provide you with an ample selection basis for any and all of your athletic clothing and equipment needs. The shoe selection is especially impressive with weekly promotions easily had.
Extremely lazy staff. First of all there was no one to assist at the shoe section and when someone came to assist they were not at all interested in helping out. After much discussion they got me a size to try which didn’t fit so I wanted to try another size but the staff was not even listening or even acknowledging my request. Atleast hire someone who really want to work there!! Such a bad experience.
Recently shopped at the Upper Canada Sport Chek and had a very helpful, supportive, knowledgeable and patient sales lady named Lily. My husband and I were in to shop for some of our grandchildren (5). Lily stayed with us helping to check prices, giving us her option on what is in style and helped to make our shopping experience stress free and enjoyable. Thanks Lily, Sport Chek is lucky yo have you!
Don’t buy anything from sportchek, terrible policies. Worst mistake I’ve ever made. You buy a brand new set of AirPods , they’re broken and they don’t accept exchanges for opened products. So I should have just guessed it was broken and exchanged before I opened the box. Go to best buy, much better with the policies and they’re more fair to the customers. This company deserves 0 stars.
I don't know her name, but the white lady, maybe in her 20s, who works the shoe sectin is a disgrace. People work hard for their money and she just doesn't care, is fed up, and is not knowledgeable at all about shoes to the point that she give wrong information. There is also a young kid working at the shoe section, this guy is totally clueless and lost. Who hired these people?
I ordered the ripzone lava jackect online , it was too small for my daughter. I call this location on Dec 2 2019 ask for the XL to be put on hold , I went there after work at around 4.30 pm to do my exchange and I was in and out in less than 10 mins , the service was fast , the staff was very polite and friendly my first time at this location and is won't be my last ,
Great location. Lots to choose from. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Manager, Christine, doesn't seem to be very happy. The Customer Service Rep had to call her over for a simple override. She seemed very put off that she had to do so. She made a few unnecessary comments. She was the only downfall to the store otherwise, could have been a pleasant experience.
Quite simply one of thee worst Sport Chek locations you’ll probably ever enter. After standing around for about 5 minutes and seeing 3 employees hanging out with their friends, I decided to go up and ask for assistance which they cut me off midway through my question and turned around and went back with to their friends. Just overall trash customer service
I had an issue with a product at this store and the manager Anna was extremely rigid and unhelpful. Was given the run around to call customer service who provided no service and just directed me back to the store after waiting a long time on hold. Don't waste your time at this location or sport check in general, other better places to shop.
Was looking for a piece of merchandise listed on the website and asked associate for help. They said they didn’t carry it - I asked if it was at another location, their response was “not sure”. I asked if they could check, the associate asked for help. Answer was it would be easier if I called myself. Store was pretty empty.
Need a repair on my daughters bike. Brought in to the Stockyards location. A young man named Ken looked it over and told me he would have it repaired by Thursday (I brought the bike in on Tuesday). Ken called me the same afternoon to tell me the bike was repaired. Thank you Ken !! Great service and the bike works perfectly.
Very rude and unprofessional staff. They don't care about their job. They just don't want to be there. What do you expect when you hire a bunch of kids though. Its a stepping stone. I wouldn't want to work their either. Low pay. Cheap overpriced product. I prefer sport check employees don't talk to me and leave me alone.
Great staff with excellent customer service. I was a bit disappointed to find the water bottle I wanted had a scratch on the lid. All of the bottles had the same defect, most likely due to the tight space in which they were merchandised on display. Aside from that small nuisance, everything about this store is great!
Great location of SportChek located in the Stockyards Village shopping plaza. Usually dead every time I go, and it can make a great shopping experience because of that. Make sure to always look through when shopping here, because you'll never know what you'll want, after looking around for 30 minutes.
This store has never failed to provide great customer service. The staff and managers are great and have been very helpful. I bought a bike, 4 pairs of shoes and two jackets from this store. I will continue to shop there for my sporting needs and have recommended them to my friends as well.
Excellent customer service! I was asked by every employee that I passed if I needed any help. Once I did need help, they were quick, polite, and went above and beyond. The store is just like any other sport chek but the employees are far better than I've ever seen at a sport chek.
Had a very pleasant experience. I was approached immediately by staff to ask if I needed any assistance. Went in for hockey gloves having no idea what I wanted or needed and the gentlemen that assisted me was very patient and was great at finding gloves that fit perfectly!
Expensive with not a great selection. Manager was very unpleasant and foolish telling me I needed to put a helmet on my kid to go two feet on a bicycle that had training wheels on it. Other staff were helpful and the store is neat but otherwise...unimpressed.
While the location is conveniently located, it is actually quite small and poorly organized. I was very disappointed by their lack of selection and sizing for women's performance swim wear especially since it was the middle of Summer when I last visited.
It’s weird. They have this whole store full of product that no one inside seems to want to sell to you Waited forever for help. Was ignored. Eventually left to the Shoe Company 2 mins away and was helped immediately and bought our shoes there. …
Service has been great in the shoe section. The staff was really helpful and quick. Returns were a breeze. They gave a pretty limited selection of Under Armour women's clothing though and are often out of sizes/stock compared to other locations.
this store barely has anything its partically empty. Brands dont have there own section everything is mixed up; dont no whos running this store but management needs to step up. Came in to buy an under armour shirt and they had no selection.
Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I am very surprised this place is still open. After waiting 30 minutes to be cashed out I ended up leaving. There was one cashier, one other customer and several other workers standing around.
Simone from the Stockyards store who helped us out with shoes was amazing. She was working by herself and was helping 6 different people. She still managed to stay on top of everything. Simone is a valuable associate Marie and Ron Sokoll
I enjoy the ambience here, and needless to say they've got quality when it comes to sportswear and gear. Furthermore, to my good surprise they had sweet pairs of boxing gloves in the store that I didn't expect.
My first time going here and it's a bigger store then I thought. Young guy at the shoe department was super helpful and checkout was fast and helpful . Great experience and if course we bought shoes …
Typical SportChek, but never busy owing to the lack of activity at the StockYards mall in general. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I bought skates for two daughters and they were very helpful.
Sales Manager Anna helped me to exchange my hoodie even though I did not have a receipt and could not remember the day I purchased it. She was super friendly ,cheerful and helpful Thank you again !!
Customer service from this store needs significant improvement. Shopped at the store on not even Black Friday or Boxing Day, store employees pass by me, see me looking for help and ignore me.
I purchased my children’s winter goods from this location. We have had no issues with the clothes and skating equipment. The representative on the phone was pleasant and easy to deal with.
Lazy staff and extremely poor service. I was literally ignored by 4 sales associates today and had to chase one across the store saying "excuse me" to be able to ask a product question.
Wasted a drive out as their service department is a little incompetent and can't even take off simple snowboard bindings. You have to go to a store that has better trained staff.
I had a very positive experience at this store. Keyshawn was very supportive, and went the extra mile in helping me find a pair of shoes that suited my needs. Great service!
I came into the store to get some skates. There was a sales associate by the name of Edwin, who helped me get my size and he was really nice through the whole interaction.
Had no products but its covid so I get that, management was rude to their staff. Great products. Cashier was kind and rest of staff except management - Was great as well
Customer service at the back of store extremely rude. Manager on duty watching and doing nothing to help. So not come here if you need anythimg terrible experience
If you are buying footwear, ask for Jimane. He is a great employee and was so helpful and pacient with me when I went to get my first ever pair of jogging shoes.
Literally worst customer service ever. Three reps actively ignored me when I was trying to get help buying 3 pairs of skates and helmets. Will buy elsewhere.
The store is well stocked, staff were always helpful , some reasonably priced sale items too. Very convenient location with a multi level car parking …
Inhumane .. Great they are open for shopping but washrooms are CLOSED!! Can you not clean the washroom for your paying customers? Get with it Sport Chek
Store is decent they didnit have the weights i wanted a lot of things expensive you do get scene points? I guess its worth it to.waste money here lol
Great help trying to find a pair of runners. All staff were very helpful. Someone even checked the back for a winter coat for my son, in the summer!
I took my bike for maintenance and they did an excellent job! I am very satisfied with the service and, definitely, I will take it back next time.
Friendly staff, great selection. I visit there at least once a month or weekly in the winter due to hockey, their skate sharpening pretty decent.
Friendly staff, and good service. Had an unfortunate time with a very lazy employee; showed no effort or care in helping/assisting customers.
This location had very little sizes available in their women's clothing. Everything I went to try on didn't have my size. Very frustrating.
Great customer service: both at the front and in the hockey area. Was shopping for female skates for the first time. Very helpful and nice.
Terrible product selection. Went to look for a decent tracksuit set for basketball, didn't have any in any brands (Adidas, Nike, etc.)
Great location. Staff is solid, especially nate -- the bike service shop ee -- who is really good at assembling and repairing bikes.
Really, really nice store. very clean and bright. Stock and selection is good. Prices are a little high, but it is too be expected.
The people, both the sales person and the cashier were very attentive and helpful. Lots of things to buy there at excellent prices.
Nice employees that are always looking to help in any way. So much parking and they have the best looking and cleanest store.
The employees know their stuff and are very nice but aren't the quickest to aproach you besides that every thing else is good
Great customer service - very understanding and knowledgeable. This is my preferred sport chek (and I've been to many).
Don’t waste your time going to the store, they barely have shoes. Have to shop everything online. This stores sucks
Perfect place to shop for winter wear. The staff is also friendly. Meg was a really good help while shopping.
Very clean store, all associates are super helpful and friendly. We love that they carry plus sizes!
Would be nice if they kept a little stock, of the very few items they actually carry.
Friendly staff, quiet location, very accessable, tonnes of free parking. Easy choice.
Super helpful staff - helped work through a mix up that occured at the warehouse.
You can find some really good deals her on occasion
Neven is a shoe guru! Amazing!! So helpful.
