Spotlight, it's not your average Hair/Nail salon. Not that these do not serve a purpose for a quick fix but if you (like I) are looking for a Salon/Spa that is above and beyond this is your place. Here is the thing, we all live busy lives and sometimes in the hustle and bustle we forget about ourselves in the mix. Could you run off somewhere last minute to fix up your nails and your roots? of course but isn't that running again? Who needs more of that? What I am looking for is some "ME" time. I want to be pampered. I want to come in stressed and leave rejuvenated ready to take on another month of crazy. From the moment I walk in the door at Spotlight, I can feel the pressure leave my shoulders. I am greeted by a smile by everyone and like "Norm" on Cheers, everybody knows my name! But the thing is, it doesn't matter if you have been going for years or it's your first time we are all greeted the same. The visual beauty of the salon is a mixture of European elegance meets modern flare. Their Lattes and cappuccinos are top notch and having the opportunity to partake in a glass of wine while having my services is heaven. The staff in both the Salon and Spa are extremely knowledgable under the Guidance of Owner Shauna and Dina who runs a tight ship in the Spa area. They are always traveling and training to be the best in their field, and it shows. Even though Shauna runs the show, she is a smart enough business woman to know it takes more than her to run a successful business, this is why she surrounds herself with an incredible "A" Team to make it happen. Listen, if you don't look or feel good going in, you will feel beautiful inside and out when you leave. It feeds your Body, Soul, and Mind and there is no place like it in Ottawa.

I have been a client at Spotlight for over 20 years. There is no doubt in my mind that Spotlight is the best place in the Ottawa area to tend to your hair and beauty needs. The owner, Shauna, is very friendly and knows her clients very well. She runs her business immaculately. The shop itself is gorgeous, with the decor changing every season. Her interior designer has phenomenal taste. Every day there is a wide variety of coffees, teas, lattes, cappuccinos, cookies, pastries, and more to choose from. These are always complimentary, and her staff members offer them to you the moment you walk in the door. Her staff is top notch - all of them are very friendly and committed to maintaining a happy and serene experience at the spa. The hairstylists and aestheticians are highly qualified with years of experience. Shauna offers the highest quality products, from make up to sugaring products to the colours used in your hair. The spa services are spectacular and unique. I challenge anyone to find a comfier bed than the ones used for massages at Spotlight. I am so pleased with Spotlight and am very excited for the opening of The Wax Spot, which is a new business venture that is headed by Shauna and her business partner Dina. Everyone is highly anticipating its opening, and if it is anything like Spotlight, we are in for a treat. I have lived all across Canada and have always had my hair professionally done. Today was my first experience at Spotlight. It was hands down THE BEST salon experience I have ever had! Walking in, there were a lot of other clients. Everyone was chatting and I thought all these ladies must know each other, that is why they are all so friendly. But then I realized that it was the environment that made everyone feel “at home.” Instantly I felt like I was a guest... and at this point, I hadn't even made it into the chair yet! I was given a consultation based on my complection, my preferences, and the future goals of my hair. I watched as clients who had massages, facials, and nail appointments make their way through. I heard consultations of women that were pregnant and women that had already had their babies. They all had different needs, which were clearly met because they ALL booked appointments for their next service. Bottom line is this. I am so happy with my experience (and the end result) that I am taking the time to write about it. I don't usually ever write reviews but I I had such a great experience at Spotlight I felt it unfair not to. This place is absolutely awesome! I was encouraged by one of my friends to go in and get a haircut there as I was tired of dealing with unprofessional and honestly lousy cuts. Making an appointment was easy and the staff on the phone were very friendly and accommodating. I ended up booking an appointment with Tanya and after receiving what I would only call as "royal treatment" from a energetic friendly staff thats sole purpose to was to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying myself I don't think anyone out there can compare with what this place does for their customers. Tanya was very helpful and knowledgeable on the latest styles and trends, very gregarious, professional and an absolute treat to deal with. She made sure I was comfortable and relaxed the entire time creating honestly a little spa get-away during the day for me. Thanks to Tanya and the whole staff at Spotlight!

Friday I had the pleasure of having my hair and eyebrows done at Spotlight Hair and Spa here in downtown Richmond. I can not say enough about my experience, from my hair which was done by Sara, and I can not say how thankful I am to her for fully understanding my needs, she is totally amazing. Kim who did my eyebrows, wow I have finally found the 8th wonder of the world, I told her how I wanted them done and WOW, she did it. You do not know how long I have waited to find someone who understood what I wanted. She was not letting me leave that room until I was 110% satisfied. Well guys you now have me as a customer all the time. You are the best FULL SERVICE SEE YOU AT MY NEXT APPOINTMENT. From the minute you walk in until you leave you are treated like royalty. What an amazing experience, but please don’t just take my word try it you will not regret it.

I've been going to Spotlight for 10 years. I've watched it grow in staff and through renovations and the whole time never sacrificing the way they make the customer feel like you are the most important thing going on at that moment. The girls are all accomplished professionals at their various trades. I would not hesitate to book an appointment with any one of them. I go to 3 or 4 of them for various services but they all know who you are when you walk in the door - as if they've all been expecting you. The owner, Shauna, has vision for everything from the elegant, yet comfortable, physical space to the work environment to the friendly atmosphere the clients enjoy. It's very obvious that they are a family and you feel like family while you are there too! And, then you leave looking and feeling absolutely refreshed.

I had been searching everywhere for a place that would take me on such short notice but after calling around I came across this place. What an incredible atmosphere. You don't get service like this at just any salon. There was muffins, and chocolate strawberries. Wow. To the actual styling, I had no intentions on getting my hair dyed after some bad luck with some other places and overpricing for my dissatisfaction. Once I spoke to the stylist she had me convinced. We chose 3 colours to put in and it turned out incredible! It's hard to find a stylist that understands what you want and can put it into place. The cut was the same thing. I have never been so pleased. The money I spent was well worth what I got. This is my new favorite salon.

Love this salon. The interior is beautiful and cozy and they always have yummy treats at the front for customers. Upon arrival they promptly ask if you'd like a drink which is really nice. This is an odd comment but the bathroom is stunning too haha large and luxurious. I see Rebecca for my coloured blonde hair and she is so talented especially with blondes. I have naturally dark brown hair and I went to her with dull, beige-blonde balayage (done elsewhere) when I wanted a bright light blonde - she did some babylights and completely transformed my hair to what I wanted! I will continue to go to see her. I would love to try some esthetic services also! A bit of a trek from Orleans but absolutely worth it.

I've told Shauna her salon has been the best kept secret in Richmond. Shauna is the best. She knows her stuff. She keeps on top of all the latest techniques and trends. She researches everything that she brings into her salon and spa. Her staff is first class. Very professional and friendly. It's like family, only better. I would not hesitate for a second to try any stylist, as they all look to Shauna for advise / input and respect what the client asks. I have been going to this salon for over 6 years. I have never had a stylist I did not like, my current one is Rebecca. Yes the prices are not the cheapest, but if you want quality products and a stylist who knows what they are doing, the money is worth it. I have naturally dark hair and have gone to bright reds in the past, to most recently, blondes. I wouldn't trust anyone else to colour my hair as Rebecca knows exactly what she is doing and I trust her technique. The atmosphere is elevated and you always feel welcome by all of Shauna's team, herself included. I have also had the pleasure of experiencing the spa aspect of this business as well and all services were excellent.

I would never consider going anywhere but to Spotlight. Shauna and her team of experts have kept me looking younger than my years for years! I always get compliments on the beautiful colours in my hair. I have watched the spa grow from concept to its latest development. Having a full service spa where I can go and spend the day every few months is something I look forward to for weeks. I have never written a review before, but I feel the need to. I went into my appointment at spotlight with healthy hair and just wanting my roots touched up. The stylist offered to touch up my ends as well and I thought she knew what she was talking about. However, after she finished I still had roots, but my ends were bleach blond. My hair WAS healthy and long but now has started to break off. When she dried my hair she didn't ask me if I liked it or what I thought she just said I was finished and went to the back room. I honestly think it is because she could tell that I was tearing up over the fact that my hair is now damaged and breaking off.

I have been going to Spotlight Hair Studio and Spa for over 20 years and all I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!!! They have never failed to deliver an awesome experience. Nothing gets in the way of a day at Spotlight. Shauna and her team provide consistent, high quality service that I have never experienced elsewhere. No other spa (and I have been to most of the big ones), no other salon, I have been too makes me feel like I have value and am important to them. Spotlight is a destination unlike any other. What a special place! I have now been going to spotlight for well over a year and it is a Salon that knows how to differentiates it's service. I have had other hair stylists attempt to deal with my wild curly thick hair however, Kelsey is the only one who has actually been able to deal and manage my hair! My hair has never been healthier and the colouring she does is amazing! Not only does she know and guide you in the right direction but she can execute the colouring to a t! I will never let anyone else touch my hair again. She is a true genius and always makes your appointment feel like you’re a celebrity sitting in the sit! I recommend her to everyone I met! After dealing with a hair disaster from a place in the Trainyards in Ottawa I decided to go outside of the city and look for someone who could revive my hair. I found Kelsey thanks to a Narcity article and haven’t looked back. The service at this place is the best! I came here for the first time a couple months ago to go back to balayage from my dark hair. I booked with Rebecca because I saw her instagram account and loved her pictures of previous clients hair. I had a great experience with my hair as the place was beautifully decorated, coffee and tea, and even cookies while you wait! Rebecca did a fantastic job with my hair and exactly what I wanted. What a wonderful experience! I'd never had my makeup done before and I was a little nervous. I needn't have worried, Kelsey did a great job. That, combined with Shauna's amazing cut and style, prompted my 16-year-old niece and her friend to exclaim "You look like a model!". I had Rebecca as my hairdresser and she’s amazingling talented but I wouldn’t go here again. It was way too overpriced. They charged me almost $400 which is half my monthly rent for an inch off my hair, balyage colour and wash where I’ve only payed $250 elsewhere with just as good of quality of salon and staff. My hair was not damaged at all and the same length as previous hair cuts. I’m outraged by this price.

I absolutely love going to Spotlight to see my hairdresser, Kelsey. She is so talented and has such a good eye for what works and looks best on her clients. Even the atmosphere of the salon is so warm and welcoming and it's obvious that the girls work as a team to make sure each client feels like they're being pampered. The salon is very nice, customer service is great and I enjoyed my haircut. The only issue I have is that I asked for my hair to be coloured Brown and it ended up being nearly Black. Update : the salon has since contacted me and I have an appointment scheduled to lighten my hair. I appreciate their quick response! They have been great to deal with.

Very disappointed. Heard so many good things about Spotlight but unfortunately i did not get the haircut I had hoped for. Seemed like the hairstylist simply was not listening simply focused on cutting my hair too short, something I had not even mentioned. Haircut has made it impossible to manage so growing it out again!

I’ve been seeing Kelsey for a while, after knowing her for a few years through school. I knew how amazing she was with colour blonde, but I can’t even begin to describe HOW great she is at what she does. She knocks it out of the park every single time. Highly highly recommend booking your next appointment with Kelsey!

Below is what I asked for, she said she could do it. I received blonde foils, absolutely no difference in my colour yet left with bad highlights on my roots. She then told me after I paid 220 that it is impossible to get this colour, which did not even include a trim or blow dry. Would not go again.

I saw Kelsey last weekend and had the best experience. She did an amazing job with my balayage highlights and cut, and I'm so happy with the results. The atmosphere of Spotlight is also so warm and inviting, and I've already booked follow-up appointments for their spa services! Highly recommend!

Had great pedicures from Tara. Salon is small but really nice, feels like a little getaway. Our only complaint was that they didn't have enough staff in duty to do our pedis at the same time.

I decided to let my gray grow out and Bryna did a fantastic job of lightening my very dark brown hair to make the gray blend more naturally. I’m beyond pleased with the cut and colour!
