Sri Manika Vinayagar Kovil or the Pillayar Kovil, dedicated to God Ganesh also known as Ganapathi, is a much-loved and visited Hindu temple in Colombo. It's situated in the Lorenz Road in Colombo 4, i.e. Bambalapitiya. It's said that the surrounding Chettiyar Tamils helped build the Kovil which was originally constructed in a site where the pilgrims who were visiting Kataragama stayed. Today the temple premises hosts not only the temple itself, but also the wedding hall which Hindus usually hire to have their wedding. Daily Pooja is at 6pm. Roadside parking is available in addition to the spacious parking area within the premises. The "Vale" Ceremony is scheduled to be held on 30th July to 3rd August this year (2023).

Your Spiritual needs are fulfilled. The kovil is normally open from 5am to 11am and then in the afternoon from 5pm to 8pm. The main deity is Lord Ganesh. Other main deities include Lord Murugan and Lord Durga. You can get a pooja done for on purchasing a ticket or you can simply visit and pray with no obligations.
