I had a scheduled repeat c section that was uncomplicated. My first was in a different state. When my daughter was delivered here in no distress, my husband did not have a chance to cut the cord. She was given to us to hold while the procedure was finishing up, but as soon as I went to recovery, she was taken away again for a slow baby nurse exam instead of allowing for the critical golden hour period of skin to skin and latching. Her birth temp was a little low so I was astounded when it took almost a full hour from birth until after examination for her to be given back to me to feed and do skin to skin. Not once during my 3 day 2 night stay was I asked if I wanted to see a lactation consultant. I had to ask for the baby’s first bath to be delayed to 24 hours because it was going to be done a mere twelve hours after birth. There was also no refrigerator in the room or on the floor for me to store the colostrum i had at home and brought in to use to help with jaundice. What if I needed to pump—where was that milk going to be stored?? For a hospital that basically mandates rooming-in and claims to follow the baby friendly principles, it is clear that meeting the metrics of mother’s CHG wipes usage and fingernail cleaning are more important than measures that actually make a difference for the infant’s health in the neonatal period. It took over 24 hours for an Ob GYN and pediatrician to round on us and we had to ask repeatedly if anyone was coming to see me and the baby. Overall the nurses were very nice but fairly hands off and neutral. It often took a while for me to receive my medication of ibuprofen and Tylenol on a regular schedule so my pain was often not well controlled. I am glad for a safe delivery and a healthy baby, but was very underwhelmed by the care I received in comparison to my first child. If this had been my first delivery and I didn’t know what was going on or how to ask for help/resources, it would have been a very difficult and scary transition to parenthood. The post partum floor needs a refresh on how many questions you can have and how frightening it can be to be a first time parent who doesn’t know anything about how to care for a newborn and work more closely with parents to make sure they feel comfortable with baby care and meet their needs. Thankfully we had already been through this so we felt more confident on our own but I could not imagine how it would feel to do this for the first time at St Joes.
To begin, there are several things I will say were not pleasant. For starters arriving with heavy contractions and not offered a wheelchair having to walk to the ER admitting room and asked to sign paperwork while in pain. Second after been admitted and check for dialation not offered an ultrasound to check if baby was OK which could have save time in realizing that baby had a cord around his neck and not waist time. Third, I was the one who requested to go to the delivery room which is awful since they expected for me to continue in pain for I don't know how long. Forth as I said before, I was in route for a natural birth but not not having check for cords or any other potential harm made my vagunal delivery stop and end in an urgent c section in which, while doctor and nurses were very good and capable, the amount of meds and stress I was put under had me on a trance were my body was shaking so heavily that I could not even hold my baby those first seconds of life. Finally, not allowing more than one person to stay that first difficult night in which I needed my husband and my mother to help and take turns while I recovered was hideous for fist never been informed of that and second threatening my mother to call the guards to take her out. It made me feel miserable and that I was doing something wrong for needing my mother with me. I will also say that nurses were amazing and that is the only reason why I am rating this hospital anything but a two stars. Finally, the first night after delivery the room service rushed me and did not serve me any meals since, quote " mu nurse had not put in for a dietary restriction and it was 20 minutes for the kitchen to close" not that I had been at the hospital since 3 am the and I was brought in from recovery to nursery at around 7: 40 pm on an empty stomach. Overall the experience was awful but with a few highlights specially with the good care of nurse Shelby in delivery and nurse Michelle in nursery.
I’m very satisfied with my overall birthing experience. All of the staff was very comforting and friendly and took great care of me. I had no support partner so the staff during my surgery was very supportive and sweet. Dr. Marks did a great job during my surgery and made sure my baby and I were both stayed healthy during the birth with the help of her team as well. They made sure after my c section that my pain level was low as can be. They informed me of everything and made sure I was always comfortable. The food was also delicious after not being able to eat for a bit. All my nurses and techs were amazing. Everyone down to room service, housekeeping, photography, case management, lactation etc was just super kind and helpful. The nurses and techs always wheeled me down to the nicu to see baby if I couldn’t walk anymore and The nicu staff was excellent as well and took great care of my baby during her stay and didn’t get annoyed with me calling to check on my baby a bunch of times. They even made me some first footprints to put in her photo album. They also had the angel eye camera system which made me very comfortable during a tough situation. The donor breast milk they gave my baby was great because I wanted to start breastfeeding her but couldn’t make any milk yet at the time. I’m so thankful for all of the staff and resources at Joseph’s women's hospital has and if I could go back and have my first born child here I so would! Wonderful experience.
I usually don't write reviews, however our experience at St. Joseph's Women's was a great experience for my wife and I. This was our first child and the medical staff at this hospital went above and beyond our expectations. They answered every question throughout the entire process and were always there with a smile. We checked into the Hospital on Friday at 11:30 A.M. and we left on Monday around 2:30 P.M. From the start of labor through the end of getting discharged, it was truly a great experience. I would like to give a shout out to a few staff members that made our experience that much better and were truly professionals! (We couldn't remember every staff member that had helped us, so sorry if we didn't mention you) But a big thank you to: Dr. Jennifer Sanchez Russell RN - Shelby - Triage RN - Courtney - Triage RN - Brenda - 3rd FL RN - Kelsey - 3rd FL Again, I cant stress enough how great the staff acted towards my wife and my child (Jaxon). Even though we had some minor complications, the staff always had my wife and child's best interest in mind. Thank you!!!!
On my last 2 days at the hospital, there’s a nurse assigned to me named “Susan / Susie”. She’s middle aged, black hair, wears glasses. Out of all the nurses, she’s been a complete opposite of what the others have been to me, my baby and my husband + his family. She has not been kind and seemed very standoffish. She also have denied a lot of my requests and questioned my needs throughout my stay in her shift. Everyone in the room says the same thing (my husband and his family noticed too). She also missed giving me my prescribed medicine and had to call in for them to be given to me, and when she did, it was very late and was not full dosage. Overall, she has made my stay awful - as I would have appreciated leaving the hospital feeling the care of the staff there. Other nurses assigned to me and staff that tended to my needs were awesome. This lady nurse that I’m talking about was rude, stingy, seems discriminatory and I believe should not be assigned to mom/baby rooms.
Omg ❤️ Dr Bray, Malina, Amanda , Genet, Kahlin , the lady at the front desk around 9am in the morning, the Manager who started the shift around 9ish pm Ashley and Angelia . I had an exceptional experience at St. Joseph Women's Hospital thanks to their outstanding staff. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The nurses were attentive and caring, making me feel comfortable and well-cared for throughout my stay. The doctors were not only knowledgeable but also took the time to explain everything clearly and address any concerns I had. The entire staff worked seamlessly as a team, ensuring that every aspect of my treatment was well-coordinated. I truly appreciate their dedication to providing top-notch medical care with compassion. St. Joseph Women's Hospital has an incredible team that goes above and beyond, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone in need.
all of the staff in Labor and delivery was amazing!! (Jaden , Liz & Dr.Marks ) They took wonderful care of me . Even after birth once I was moved to the 4th floor , all of the staff there (Lyss, Heidi , Yanary , ) including my cleaning lady Miss Su was awesome . The tech Betty was wonderful ! My Dr's and my baby's Dr's and nurses was awesome ! Thank you for a pleasant and Safe delivery . food service / room service was awesome too , huge shot out to Keke ... she was polite and went the extra mile when delivering my food . thank you all so much to the staff who worked from 10/10/23- 10/12/23 . you all made my stay the best .
They deserve no stars for being stupid . I made an apt for falopean tube recanalization on nov 28 and girl who scheduled told me they do it at their hospital after I asked her multiple times and told her I been diagnosed for blockage thru hsg percidue . I told her exactly what’s it’s called and exactly what gets done . She said yes . I live 2 hrs away so I decided to call while I was driving to surgery . And I’m glad I did call and I got told they are planning to do only hsg only . How stupid can you be ? I talked to Erika which is her manager and she’s simply covering her butt .
Our experience with our scheduled c-section was excellent from start to finish. Every single person we interacted with from pre-op to post-op and beyond was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable every step of the way. Extra recognition to the nursing staff - especially Amber - on the maternity floor. They were all incredible, skilled, and obviously love doing what they do. Plus a side note, the food was amazing. We have nothing but amazing things to say about our experience at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital.
Had such a wonderful experience delivering my first child at St Joseph’s. I was so impressed by how attentive and kind every single staff member was. The entire process was seamless. Big shout out to my labor and delivery team , especially my nurse Emily who never left my side. Dr. Reichman is an outstanding OB physician and we are so thankful for her thoroughness and expertise. Another thank you to the amazing nurses on the mom and baby floor for making postpartum care a bit easier. Thank you so much for good first time experience!
The St Josephs team provided excellent care from start to finish. Kayla in pre op was awesome, very patient and caring. The anesthesia team was outstanding. Morgan and Dr Gruber were a perfect team, taking good care of me. Stephanie with respiratory therapy took great care of our baby immediately after birth. Our mother-baby nurses (Victoria D, Lauren, Amber) and techs (Tamara and Vicanna) were so kind and helpful during our entire stay. We had a pleasant experience, with nothing but joyful memories.
All the nurses were wonderful throughout my labor, delivery, and recovery. Dr. Cohen was great, too! They were all supportive of my medication-free labor, and the hospital’s policy of 12 hours of “quiet time” after birth with limited interruptions was so nice. They also did not come in excessively overnight to wake us up for tests— which was a first out of my three deliveries (my other two deliveries were at other hospitals, and they seemed to come in right as I fell asleep every hour or so).
I had recently did a Uber eats delivery to an employee named Shantell at this facility. And she was disgustingly rude. She had called me screaming at me asking where was her order as I was walking into the hospital. She gave me an attitude all throughout when I was trying to settle down the situation. As I approached to her she gave me an unpleasant look. No nurse should be employed at a women’s hospital if they’re going to treat people like that. Very unprofessional and obnoxious.
Everyone from both my visits to st. Joseph’s Womens hospital were nothing but kind and accommodating. They listened to me and my family. I was throughly explained everything every single time a nurse practitioner or doctor or midwife came to see me. Ilssa, heather, and Isabella from labor and delivery were amazing nurses. Jamie, Charmaine, Kelley, Jackie on floor 3 and Kristine the tech. Again beyond amazing. They worked so hard and did so much for us every time.
I just had my baby on July 20th and had an absolute wonderful experience! Every single nurse, tech, and doctor I saw was so kind and caring it made everything so much less stressful and more memorable. The amount of care and compassion I was shown in labor and delivery and mother/infant care was amazing. I cannot say enough about the staff of this hospital, they are all simply wonderful and definitely working in the right career field.
First time mom, just had my baby girl here. 30 hours in L&D and all I can say is thank you to the bottom of my heart to everyone of these nurses and doctors they all care so much about mom and baby. I had to stay 48 hours and these amazing women doctors and nurses helped me and my baby tremendously. This is a hospital of angels. I wasn't going to deliver here at first bc it's further away from where I live but wow I'm so glad I did.
We unfortunately lost our daughter after having an emergency c section. The neonatal doctors and nurses did everything they could to help her and make her hours on earth as comfortable as she could be. All staff from the doctors, nurses, and techs that took care of me throughout my time there were so supportive and understanding. I can not say a single bad thing about this facility and the staff there.
All of my love to every nurse, doctor and staff that work on my delivery specially Emily my nurse. She took care of me and offered me so much support and attention. I don't have the words to thank her for all she did. My wonderful Dr. Bray always thankful for her amazing care. I had a great experience at St. Joseph's and I will be forever grateful for everything they did for me. Thank you so much
I appreciate the help from everyone I delivered my baby boy 9/10/23 and I wanna give a special shout out to the overnight nurse Sonya (she helped me push the baby out) and was so patient with me. She truly was amazing! Also Emily thar works in the day time was amazing too! She went above and beyond for me and truly shows her compassion! Thank you to all the staff!!
Every single nurse, doctor, tech, and person that helped us during delivery or came into our room was so incredibly wonderful. I wish I could name all of them individually, but it speaks volumes that the team was so consistent person to person, regardless of time of day or area of the hospital. We are so grateful for the team and service through St Joe’s Womens!
So happy with our decision to deliver at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. We already loved our doctors (Solomon, Bray, Perkins, Giangreco, and Fraguada), and I was so impressed with all the nurses at Women’s. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable. We had a great experience and they helped us get on the right track before bringing our baby boy home.
Ashley and Amber RN dayshift 4th floor nurses St Joesph Women’s are the most compassionate and caring nurses I have ever encountered. I’m a RN in a leadership role at a local hospital and I tell you they are the best of the best that I’ve seen. They really care, it’s not just a job. They love what the do for sure. Thank you!
I cannot praise the staff and providers enough. I came in because urgent care thought I was showing signs of preeclampsia, the staff and providers assured me I was fine and he even prescribed me a zpack to help with my sinus infection. They made me feel comfortable about taking medications to alleviate my symptoms.
Extremely disappointing that every OBGYN affiliated with this hospital does not take Medicaid. I was really hoping to have my baby here but I guess I'll have to look elsewhere. I've never heard of an entire hospital with hundreds of Dr.s all decide not to help people with lower income. Incredible.
I had a repeat csection. My postpartum stay was so much better than my last stay. My night nurse, Susan, was amazing. She was so attentive and supportive. She managed my pain and itching and gave me back my freedom from all the lines. Melanie was my day nurse was also very nice.
Courtney and Eliza in labor and delivery were absolutely amazing I felt so lucky to have them as nurses. Amber in post partum care was amazing as well. We had great interactions with each staff member and I felt mom and baby were well taken care of!
My entire birthing experience was wonderful at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. The L&D nurses were extremely calming and accommodating, my anesthesiologist Tunde was wonderful during my procedure, and when I finally got to the maternity ward
My wife recently had a radical hysterectomy here. Their “policy” is that the patient can designate a loved one to join them in the recovery room. I told her “see you in a couple of hours” to ease her worry when they wheeled her back to the
2nd live birth with you guys and I wouldn’t go anywhere else or have it any other way. Constantly monitored, held at ease with laughter and love from checking in to discharge. Even with the DC of the loss of my first I was held as we cried
I want to yell it from the highest mountain the 10/10 service I received from you guys from registration to L&D to mommy and baby!! I must say the care I received was excellent and it’s not easy saying that nowadays. Lauren (charge nurse)
I was induced in April 2023. From arrival to departure everyone we encountered was just great! The L&D nurses were caring and easy to talk to you. The epidural team was fast and efficient. My OB was just wonderful! Even when we got to the
Exceeded all my expectations!! I loved the nurses and staff, the customer service was exceptional! The level of care that your nurses and doctors put in really should be a standard more hospitals adopt! Despite have a rough delivery, the
My experience was amazing, I was all alone delivering my baby by myself with no family or friends around. However, because of the attentive care of the staff of ST Joseph’s Women’s Hospital I felt nothing but love and total support in my
Giving birth was a great experience. But the NICU? Absolutely not! They were giving my child fortifier and I never found out about it until almost three weeks later. And if it wasn’t for my mom instincts and fighting for him he probably
I have never been in the hospital before, let alone to deliver a baby. The staff was phenomenal throughout my entire experience, I felt like myself and my baby were well taken care of. I highly recommend St.Jospeh’s Labor and Delivery!
We where there for the delivery of our baby via surrogacy and all the staff where amazing. They accommodated us wonderfully and treated us and our surrogate with so much love. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I have to say that the nurses and techs at St.Joseph hospital (4th floor) Are the most gentle and kind ladies. The care they gave me has been above and and beyond. These ladies are amazing. GB
Dr Perkins was excellent. Whitney the labor and delivery nurse was calm, caring, efficient and highly trained. All of our recovery nurses were caring and helpful. Very well taken care of.
Great service! registration, labor and delivery for mom and baby. Nurses are caring and supportive. I had a very positive experience and will recommend to anyone who is expecting.
The L&D staff responded quickly, efficiently, and were emotionally supportive of my needs during my precipitous delivery. (8/25)
