My family and I love this park! It has so much to offer. A cute flower garden and a paved walking path around a beautiful pond (or ice rink in the winter) and lots of forest trails, even some by the river. It has a toboggan run, a warming house, lots of BBQ pits, picnic benches some covered, indoor washrooms and I'm sure more I'm not remembering. It's got a wonderful play park with two areas, one for toddlers and one for bigger kids as well as some play areas for special needs.

St. Vital park is a wonderful place for any walk of life. There are wonderful places to picnic, have a family gathering, take a stroll along the river, duck pond, or through the woods. For those who are interested, St Vital Park has many Geocache locations as well as Pokemon for those playing Pokemon Go! The play structure area for kids is massive and well spread out, so that kids have room to play and run in between. There are bathrooms right in the play structure area during, as well as in the centre of the park. There is ample parking, but you may have to walk a bit during times.

I did not know just how incredible this gem of a park is until recently. Although it is right by a major highway, I found it peaceful. There were many people at the park when we visited. Some had set up bonfires or small picnics despite the weather being less than 10 degrees. It was good to see people out and about doing their best to be safe and stay within their bubble. Walking around this park made me realize what a gem we are fortunate to have on the Southside of the city, and I will most likely be visiting again. Bonus: We ran into a family of deers.)

Always has been a great place to go for a nice quiet walk in the early mornings, lots to see and more to hear and listen to while wandering the wooded trails, but he cautious of the wood ticks and take the usual precautions. The old duck pond is always a real crowd pleaser but it can get a little smelly once those big old Geese get to crapping everywhere, but what can you do..... it's a duck pond. If you like bird watching this is also a pretty good place and it's right in the heart of the city.

I was there for a church-led event, and it was great! The part of the park we were stationed at was free of debris and garbage. The grass was mowed nicely. The washroom facilities were clean and ready for park-goers. There were many garbage and recycling bins within our section of the park as well. The only problem we had was a large contingent of wasps. There seemed to be a lot more than in previous years. All in all it was a good facility to hold our event.

This park is a perfect place for community outdoor events and family gatherings. In addition to duck pond, walking trails, play grounds, and BBQ sites, it has some huge lawns and play courts for large group activities. We had a community event there on this weekend with a great turnout. We had various games and tents and many families did activities together and had a great time. I’m very happy that we have this big beautiful park in the south Winnipeg.

Although the park was quite busy it was still enjoyable. It is a wonderful place for families and friends to gather. While we were there there were quite a number of extended families around fire pits and the picnic areas. Some were playing soccer on the field and others biking or walking. The path around the duck pond and the flower garden walkways are beautiful. As summer progresses the flower garden is always one of my favourite places to visit.

We went skating and walking at the Duck Pond today. We went around 9:30 am, so it wasn't too busy yet. The ice was well-groomed, but there are a few cracks you need to be cautious of. There are lots of benches around the pond so you can put your skates on safely. There are porta potties there too, as you can't use the building right now. Beautiful scenery, a bonfire, and good social distancing!

This park is quite developed with a large duck pond, with skating in winter. They just built a new structure at the pond to change into your skates in winter or shelter in summer. Many picnic sites one with a nice playground gor the kids. Also x-country ski trails in winter along either a toboggan slide. For boaters thete is a launch as well.
Dog-friendliness
No off leash areas

St Vital park is a beautiful spot to explore regardless of season. In the Winter, you can skate on the duck pond, do some cross-country skiing, use the toboggan run for sliding or check out the abundance of trails. In the summer, feed the ducks at the duck pond, bring the kids to the play structures, catch a game of volleyball, or host a picnic. The opportunities here are endless!

  • Kim Macdonald

Great 4 seasons park. Winter has a wonderful toboggan run that's like a beginner luge course plus a built in warming hut. The duck pond converts to an incredible skating rink with its own glassed in Pavillion with picnic tables and washrooms. Heated in the winter. There is also a maintained fire pit with seating for roasting marshmallows or just enjoying the ambiance.

This park is a hidden gem in the south end of the city. Within the park there is a boat launch, a well maintained duck pond, plenty of bbq picnic sites, and a health size field for various activities. This park is close to home for me, and is probably my place to walk my dog. I look forward to visiting this park for many more years to come.

  • Shamsher Singh

St vital park is an amazing place. It has all the view you may want for all sorts of pictures. Garden, river view, forest, long trees.. lots of activites to do like kids playground, tobogganing in winters, walk through forest n gardens, fountains, playgrounds, walk nrun along river side. bathrooms are available during times.

  • Eliot Britton

St. Vital Park. A great place for wholesome park based activities and old school marymaking. Bonus activities include dodging Canada geese and fawning over baby ducks. Boat launch can be fun, but maybe avoid canoes, unless you are going downstream and have a pickup point. Also fun in the winter for toboggan run and skating.

  • Michelle L

This is such a gem within the city limits. Fire pits, children's playground, picnic area, duck pond/skating, trails through the forest, boat launch, flower gardens...
Playground
Fun, safe and a great way to expand imagination from riding horses, slaying dragons and rescuing people from towers. Lots of fun to be had!

This park is great all seasons. The duck pond is huge and fun to skate on in the winter. Nice warm up centre located directly adjacent. The new toboggan hill is awesome and kids love it. This is also one of the kids favourite destinations to bike to in the summer and we have spent many hours playing at the playground.

  • Jason Joseph

Great city park with excellent amenities and beautiful view of the red river. If you are just in the mood for a stroll with your pup, sliding with the kids, skating, or cross country skiing this is the place for you. Ample parking and no cost admission. Summer offers nice trails picnic areas, large fields.

  • JJ

Canker worms are terrible here, they really need to do something about it as car covered by them just driving through. I'm sure people are spreading the infestation around the city via car this way. Trees are all eaten by them, webs everywhere. Can't enjoy your visit with the infestation. Gross

  • Brett Nickol

St. Vital Park is a true oasis in the heart of Winnipeg! The lush greenery, serene ponds, and picturesque walking trails create a tranquil atmosphere. Perfect for picnics, biking, and leisurely strolls. A peaceful escape to connect with nature and recharge. A must-visit for nature enthusiasts!

  • Shannon Richard

I love going to this park, although around the duck pond there is way too many geese, and goose poo. The rest of park is wonderful, scenic trails great gardens in the summer, and fields to play frisbee, soccer, and football. There is fire pits for cookouts, and a great children's playground.

  • Krissy P

What a beautiful park. This was my first time visiting. The pond is gorgeous. Lots to do here. My kids loved the playgrounds. They have a fun castle themed playground for the bigger kids and a cute circus themed playground for the younger kids. Such a nice place to visit with your family.

  • Karyna Dianka

Gotta love good ol’St.Vital Park! Been going for years. Great place to play or relax. BBQ sites, duck pond, river access/boat launch, playground, walking trails, huge field and sand volleyball courts. How do you fit that all in one day?

  • Lin G

there are 2 ice slides at the exit gate, and a frozen lake in winter. By the side of red river, there is a BBQ field and a playground for kids. A very nice place for family with kids or/and pets whenever in spring, summer or winter.

  • Chuck Surgeoner

A great Winnipeg park. The duck pond is cleared of snow and flooded and great for skating. No hockey sticks allowed. Heated change building has picnic tables. Snow is melting rapidly and the geese are noisy. All is as it should be.

  • Anonymous

Best in Winnipeg for walking, gathering and activity. It has volleyball grounds, soccer field, flower garden, duck and geese pond, hike and bike routes, picknick seats and fire pits, boat lunching dock, and nice red river view.

  • Dragos Nina

It has nice bike, walking paths, beach volleyball courts, soccer field, kids play structures. There are lots of areas to BBQ. Newly renovated duck pond and social area. Not a very big park, but a very beautiful one!

St Vital Park is beautiful year round. Four season park to go for a walk, bike, ski, toboggan, picnics, run, roller blade, sun tan, read a book, play volleyball/football/soccer, wedding/grad fotos, dock your boats.

  • Kailey Hodgson

Great place to go for a walk, play soccer, or have a fire with friends, it's also a great place to go play pokemon go. There were some new plants when I was there last and the flower garden is beautiful as always!

  • Katarina

Enjoyable park and lots of inner woodsy trails. Usually “busy” but not crowded. You see a lot of families enjoying bbqs and get togethers but it never feels like there is too many people for the space there is.

  • Leana Isaac

Beautiful park. The geese are at home there with their little ones. Nice walking paths. Lots of places to eat you meal at picnic tables. Play atea for children. I'd like to go there again. Very peaceful

  • Akash Singh

Gets very crowded on the weekends but still is a gem of a park. Plenty of walking trails and also parking space. Campfires are a good addition and there are ample garbage bins to throw garbage away.

  • Martha Spencer

A beautiful park, alive with wildlife --birds and squirrels -- that seem to know they are king and we are casual guests, welcome to visit so long as we stay quietly in our lane.

Wonderful day to stroll in the park. Lots of goose droppings around the duck pond and too many worms. But the geese were nibbling as many as they could. …

  • Michael M (Michael212427)

I don’t understand the blue stained water in the pond but the park is nice. I’m sure parks and recreation are doing their best with the budget the city gives.
