Contacted this company well in advance had everything setup date and quote for the move which was reasonable. We were sending our stuff to Edmonton and it needed to be stored for a week or so, they don't charge for storage which was great. On move date we were told we would be first pick up of the day and they would be there between 8-9. We got a call from the driver conforming we would be available around 10 or 11 because their other appointments weren't ready and they had to wait,when questioned that we were supposed to be first and earlier he said that the contact center was wrong and they had no idea. When the movers should up after 11 the driver was upset(not sure at who) as they brought a massive semi to fit down our street. He proceeded to complain the whole time about the call center not booking it correctly. When they walked into the house none of the 4 individuals introduced themselves. We were told we were supposed to get a checklist for each box loaded on the truck when I asked the driver he said we don't have time for that because their truck was blocking the road. They continued to move things seemed rather rough with contents, including boxes marked fragile or contains glass. Once everything was loaded we went over the quote again which was still correct except we were charged $20for a plastic bag for a scratching post as someone might have allergies on the truck. We had plenty of bags we could have provided but didn't oppose it as I understand allergies suck,the problem I did have was the 4 of them proceeded to smoke at the back of the truck as well on inside of it with all of our stuff. For someone who cares so much Bouton allergies they had no respect for people with asthma or allergies to cigarette smoke. Was contacted by the call center with a quote that seemed a lot higher than we discussed, yes the weight was more which was expected had no issues with that. The issue was they added surcharges, fuel surcharges, warehouse fees and other charges which were all supposed to be zero. When explained that we have email communication that says we aren't to be charged for that I was told that person was fired. I explained well I have emails from 3 different individuals that all confirmed those charges and was told they were also not employed. They charged us storage fees because they were under the impression it was a direct move, regardless of the email conversation that showed we needed storage for a week. No on at this company seems to really care what the other is doing. The reason they decided to charge what they did instesd of the quote is the new owner said they didn't think that was fair to them so they would charge us. After a lot of back and forth they agreed to drop 2 of the 4 charges and also charged the agreed upon price per lbs. On the day of delivery the drop of guy was fantastic best part of the company. We were told we have 48 hours to call and make complaints for anything wrong. There was a number of things damaged inside of boxes and I can understand the ownership as they didn't pack it what I have a problem with is plastic bins that were destroyed completely, excessive tape across tables and cabinets which caused peel when removed. The clothes required extra cleaning as they stunk like cigarette. Lots of damaged glass on boxes marked fragile contains glass. Tried to get ahold of the call center and never received a call back, left a number of message but they don't seem to care. Only advice would be to double check every step of the way that the quote you recieved is correct, based on conversation this happens often which is why there is a high turn over. Edit *********** Reply to owner, none of the information that he replied with is correct. There was never a block on payment and we never had any sort of weights moved. Clearly this place is so disorganized they can't keep track of the customers they are ripping off.

This was the worst experience I have ever had moving. The front end sales and advisors were very sweet and nice. I read a few reviews that showed great reviews, but did not read enough to realize what a scam this group is. Pick up day was to be at 8 am. They did not show up till 5 pm. They were to load up 2 apartments for a cross country move that day. I thought we were “ghosted” as I could not communicate with anyone. The movers were exhausted, they said they had 2 deliveries on the way to our pickup. I had to ask them to wrap furniture, heavy glass items. They loaded up the second apartment the next day, which put us behind in our leaving our place. On our way I got a call from the dispatcher who was so rude and threatening. She told me that if I did not pay the amount owing in full right now, I will not see my furniture ever again! I was absolutely horrified a business could talk to me the way she did. I asked if she knew where my furniture was, she told me it didnt matter, just pay. I told I would pay when I saw the truck at my new home, and they are unloading. I became quite upset and told her she was holding my furniture hostage. She hung up, I could not contact anyone to find out what was hoing on. I was so anxious and upset. The day it arrived I got a call from a driver, telling me they were loading my furniture up and bringing it. I was promised it would stay packed on one truck. I could not contact my building manager to book the elevator for the move, as it was the weekend. They arrived at 5 in the evening that day. Not sure why evening delivery works for this company? It appeared all the boxes and furniture were coming and the driver kept complaining that he was not pleased that we did not have a key to make it easier for them. I tried to call for one, but it was the weekend, and could not get one. I mentioned I could have been notified they were coming on the weekend, and I would have arranged it, he became irritated and angry telling me he did notify me. I had never spoken to this gentleman before delivery day am. He then told me he spoke to the dispatcher, and was told to ask for more money, or he would dump our furniture on the ground. I asked if he was threatening me for more money, he said that they required more cash or it would be, because the elevator was an inconvenience to them. I mentioned I only knew they were coming the Saturday and could not arrange that or I would have. I asked again if this was another hostage taking of our furniture? He said to pay or… I became very volitile.. my partner stepped in. Found out the driver had called a wrong area code and left messages to another number, the driver apologized, and they left. I have really been traumatized with the events this company has caused to us. Read more reviews, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY to move your loved possessions. They are a scam, have horrible manners, can’t be trusted. They hire contractors, don’t have professionals that know how to move or wrap fragile items. I had to advise them. I will write a review for BBB too. Thanks for reading my review and rant. Like a lot of other negative reviews on here, I had a similar experience when moving with Starway. Christine was my sales rep and was extremely attentive and pleasant to work with. Our weight from the scale was over 7000lbs for a 2-bedroom house where we sold a lot of our belongings. This was more than we had anticipated but since we did not go to the scale with the crew, we accepted and trusted it. Be warned though - the "industry standard" should be doubled, in my opinion. The Calgary crew were exceptional - very polite, efficient, and we gave them a good tip as we appreciated the attention to detail and ease at which the move out was done. However, arriving in Toronto - the crew was a) drunk at 9am, b) broke/damaged a lot of our belonging, c) used our bathroom and peed all over the toilet and floor (Yes, you read that right.), d) took many many smoke breaks in the truck, stinking up our belongings (it was cold out), and e) took boxes marked "FRAGILE" and for some reason SLAMMED them down right in front of us. Most, if not all FRAGILE boxes were on their side. I have photos of boxes simply annihilated from the move in. I know they're not "liable" but come on. Paying over $4k I expect some human-level of decency. During the unload, the most expensive thing I own - a custom wooden table that I hand-picked the wood for - was scratched by the crew right in front of me. I had taken the protective blanket off and the table was in mint condition. Without me telling the crew, they started piling stuff on top of the table. They slid a plastic bin across it that had some gravel on the bottom. Scratched the finished top horribly. I addressed it immediately, and the (drunken) crew replied "that was already like that" when both parties watched as it happened. Insulting. And again, at 9am with crew members smelling like liquor... not impressed. The sales crew back in Airdrie apologized and said they would inform the crew's manager. I never heard again about this. A few belongings were 'missed'. We noticed the missing items immediately. Our move-in to Toronto was November 4th. Ironically, things a crew like that might want: power tools. I was informed they were in a crate and moved to one side so were not noticed. On December 15th I was informed that the missing items were in Toronto and they were waiting to hear back when they'd be delivered. It is now January 3rd. I haven't heard much from Starway at all. UPDATED: January 16 and the Toronto crew still won't admit they have the items. They want photos of the power tools. I want some money back aside from their piddly 60c per pound. The Calgary office insists that it is the Toronto crew's fault. I keep telling them that in my eyes, they're all the same company so please take responsibility for who you hire. Overall moving our items cost $4200. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. Even though I did my research and picked a BBB-credited company, I regret so much of this. No compensation. Some apologies about the drunk crew but overall, this was a terrible and emotionally draining experience. I have an email chain over 96 emails long to prove any and all of these statements.

Do not, under any circumstances, use this company to move your belongings. As a process management consultant, I have never seen an organization so consistently put the customer experience below all else nor have I seen an organization so complacent with their mediocrity. The poor photoshop and minimal effort website should give you an idea of how their service will be. Below is a timeline of my experience. Pre-sales: no cross-referencing in their information system (contacted twice with the sales pitch after I became a customer) Pickup booking: Date and time was set a month in advance. Movers called to move the timeline up 1 day giving us less time to pack. Unprofessional, but not the end of the world as we made it work. Pickup: All my items were pre-labeled with their code for "scratched", "dented", or "damaged" even though they were packed according to best-practices and many items were brand new (or even still in the original box). Assuming they do this so in case they further damage my items, I would not be able to initiate a claim. Booking delivery: 12 ignored calls and voicemails, 6 ignored emails over the course of 2 weeks. 1 call even told us to get off the phone and send them an email after we asked to book a delivery date (assumption: poor training). Starway asked for 2 weeks heads up, we gave them one month even with the ignored messages. They missed the delivery day with no prior notification. Of course, they cannot control factors such as weather, ferry schedules, or rail schedules. However, they make no attempt at optimizing factors in their control, such as communication, service standards, and transparency. They then further delayed twice for various reasons. They gave us a 2 week window in which our items would arrive (this is already 2 weeks after the requested delivery date). Delivery: Starway never confirmed a delivery date or time. I got a call from the driver saying he was 2 hours away from my house on a random day. They expected us to drop everything with 2 hours notice. I was originally booked on a business trip, but it was luckily cancelled so I could successfully receive my belongings. Claims: One lost car jack (so far, a week and a half of radio silence from Starway after submitting the claim). Also, this organization has no financial incentive to successfully deliver your goods. Not saying they would, but if they decided to dump your belongings, they would only have to pay 60c/lb after a $350 deductible. They could have theoretically "lost" all my items and still made $2000 profit. In sum, the customer experience from Starway is the worst I've ever endured. Lastly, every complaint was politely relayed to them prior to writing this review to given them a fair chance to correct/explain their actions, but I received no reply. If you see my other reviews of other businesses, I am more than happy to give good reviews when the company is amazing. However, this company is a textbook case of how to put your customers last with end-to-end sketchy business practices.

**Update- this company has zero integrity. After I posted this review on the BBB website, they responded with complete lies stating my husband's bike was found, it was being delivered to us and basically stated I was lying. BBB wouldn't allow me to respond. This was a total lie, we never got his bike back and it was made up to make themselves look good.*** Because I have done a long distance move before, I knew I was trying to pick the best company out of the worst. They are all awful, there really needs to be better regulation in this industry. I thought I did my homework as best I could and very nervously chose Starway (who btw is Midwest Moving, or used to be, or is owned by the same people and have awful reviews, I found this out when Midwest were the ones that charged my credit card for the deposit). From the start, they were great, of course, they want your business. The in home estimate was good in terms of her being polite and clear on the policies, etc, but she barely looked at what I had and over quoted me 1400 lbs. I was adamant on being at the weigh scale before and after because I know how these companies work and they were willing to accommodate me, although you have to be persistent or they will pretend they didn't know. Just like negotiating the fuel surcharge down, as a consumer watch what they do, because time and time again they bumped it back to 11%, time and time again, I had to remind them we agreed on 5%. On the day of moving, the guys were late without a phone call so my husband waited at the weigh scale for over an hour, not too big of a deal, we are reasonable people and can overlook this kind of thing. The guys who loaded our stuff were really good, careful, professional. I was told our stuff would be on its way from Alberta to Ontario that week and we could expect it at our destination 5-10 business days later. Doing this before, I knew it was a lie, but I expected it to take about 3 weeks. It took 4 1/2 weeks. All of a sudden the emails stopped being answered, phone calls not returned, every one was sick....for a long time...I think about 3 weeks! And then the movers come, unload and I notice my husbands very expensive mountain bike is missing.....and another item, a table top which we didn't miss as much but it still has not been returned to us. Again, just got the run around, told we can submit a claim, but I know how it works after a $350 deductible and then being reimbursed by weight, we would be paying to make a claim. SO where is my husbands bike?? I would think something like this just doesn't disappear and gets lost. No apologies, no nothing. Just - "I'm sure it will turn up" well it hasn't....or "make a claim" well that doesn't work out either. So no one gets held accountable for "losing" your items. Rent a Uhaul and do it yourself!

I really hope that my review will warn people and make them chose another moving company, so they can avoid the disappointment, headache and financial loss. I have no idea how Starway Moving Company got higher rating than one star. Starway Moving Company and Mid-West Moving & Storage are the same company, so beware of both Moved from Drumheller to Toronto! The quote is really off!!! When I received the estimate quote, it didn’t include a fuel surcharge, so the quote looks appealing. I was slapped with 11% when my stuff was loaded. MAKE SURE YOU READ “some important information”. Scale receipt was never given to me, after I asked for it 4 times. If the contents are 3,000lbs or more, they wave $450. My contents came to 2,980lbs, surprise!!!! If anything breaks or gets damaged during the move, don’t bother putting the claim. This is what their supervisor had to say when I emailed them that a lot of my things were damaged. “Insurance is not value based it is $0.60 per pound with a $350 deductible. Very basic. That is why you were advised to keep your home insurance in effect. I have looked over your claim. I am sorry that you suffered any damages, however insurance with a moving company is based on pounds not value. By the time you pay the $350 deductible I am not sure that you will be receiving anything back. You would be best to put a claim in with your home insurers.” So now I am stuck with buying new items, very heartbroken over this. I could’ve donated it and not move things that are now useless to me!! The movers were supposed to show up between 10am and 12pm, and give me a call when they were 30 minutes to my destination. The movers called 5 minutes to 12pm and told me that he is 30 seconds away. One of the movers kept asking me how much stuff I had because my estimate was for 2,000lbs and he was hoping it is not more. I kept saying that this is what they estimated and I don’t know what my one bedroom house weighs. The whole time one of the movers was making some odd comments about everything. Same guy was very rushed and rough with all my boxes. At one point he dropped a box that said very fragile. I wrote FRAGILE on items that were fragile, no one took that into consideration, as things were piled up on top of each other and thrown into the truck. I mentioned it a few times but it was useless. Big items were wrapped in moving blankets, but then came to me without blankets and destroyed. I had nice dinner leather chairs that were wrapped in plastic wrap, but they were turned upside down and the tops were dragged on the floor and scratched. The boxes were put upside down. You don’t need a lot of skill to be a mover, just to be careful with people’s belongings.

The moving was very disappointing. Even though there was an unavoidable delay and we were notified at first, we never received a confirmation that the move was not possible on the original date as Andy (the mover) was still insist that he might make it but asked we request the the property mgmt to move our elavator time slot to 6pm. This was despite us saying if we got confirmation in the afternoon that it was a "no go", we could work with the property mgmt to accomodate for the move to be the next day.  We attempted to call multiple times during the day/ evening to get an eta but by 5 pm had to make a decision and told the mgmt company we wouldnt be moving in that day. (We didnt get any response from Andy nor your company until the next morning.) Thus for the next day we had to scramble to get a time secured with the property mgmt. Then once Andy showed up, the moving was still delayed (from the agreed upon 10am) as he was down one person and was trying to get a backup. My wife ended up having to call me and my brother in law to come and help her as we originally thought she'd just be directing where boxes would go. In the end we had to assist the whole time (11 am to 3 30 pm) or else we knew we wouldnt be able to get our stuff. We carried sofas, shelves, drawers, and matresses, etc. My wife was constantly asking Andy when his help would arrive but despite attempted calls, no one ever showed up. Note that the property mgmt company was not pleased but was still extremely accomodating in that moves are usually only scheduled for 2 hrs and the truck was so large it blocked one lane. Even if we had a lot of stuff, we were charged almost $1000 extra from the original quote and your company should have been prepared to provide ample resources to accomodate. We also soon noticed a lot of our items got dirty and damaged from the transportation and handling (see attached pictures of some examples). A few items are so damaged they are now unusable. Not only that, we were missing some items such as a new container of dish soap,  window washer fluid, and 3 garbage bins. Trivial but still shouldnt have been missed. This experience has been very fustrating and we are extremely disappointed with the service. The  unusable equipment and missing items are at least $200 and this is not including the labour we provided nor the cost to repair some of the other items. Note the one positive factor is we really appreciated Andys attitude and his dedication throughout the move. He did not complain and was as helpful as he could be. He is an amazing worker and it was a pleasure meeting him.

DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THEIR CHEAP ESTIMATE, DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR SPEND FEW MORE $$$ AND GET SOME GOOD COMPANY, ELSE LIKE MYSELF AND OTHERS ALL YOUR ITEMS WIL BE DAMAGED AND YOU MIGHT SPEND MORE TO BUY NEW FURNITURES. My experience was no different from the last few. We moved from Calgary to Toronto. Christine and Sue were the sales rep and they were really good and returned my phone calls to get my business. I initially got 3 quotes Starway moving and Midwest moving were the front runner because they quoted really low. Reading through the reviews I found Midwest moving was really bad and had lots of BBB complaints. I decided to use Starway services, but to my surprise on the day of moving the guy in Calgary had Midwest checklist to sign off. These two companies are operated by same people. I believe Midwest moving company received lots of bad reviews and complaints, so they started a new company Starway moving with the same people and same crappy services. Everything went downhill from there. When I received the items in Toronto – You wouldn’t believe the way things were delivered. They just dumped stuff in the garage, threw stuff all over the floor and refused to take the items to appropriate room. When my wife stood her ground, they were yelling at my wife. I was so close to calling the police and making a complaint. All the furniture came unwrapped, damaged and in a real bad shape. All boxes including tote boxes were broken. I will attach some pictures with this review. If they can break solid boxes forget shipping items in card boxes with them, you might want to consider buying wooden trunks or iron trunk boxes. When I called the Airdrie office they played the same game just like other people in the review section – That the delivery folks are different company and apologized. But apparently they have contract with them and it is not good, I received no compensation. The sales rep I mentioned before Christine and Sue were getting rude and did not respond to emails or calls after I paid them in full and received the worst service. We paid close to $4000 for the move, was it worth it – ABSOLUTELY NOT. Every item was damaged. All our couches have been ripped, dresser was broken, and head board is broken in two pieces. Mattress ripped, no protective covering or cloth on any of the furniture as they promised. I picked these guys trying to save $500 but I ended up loosing $6000 worth of my furniture.

Really poor experience with Starway Movings. I submitted RFP with multiple companies. The ladies in the office were quick to respond and said they were able to deliver my furniture on the 29th of December (two days after they picked it up). I was moving from Calgary to Vancouver. There was a snow storm, so I expected some delays. After no news, I reached out on the 30th for an ETA. They said they didn't leave Calgary yet and they will keep me posted - they will deliver my furniture on the first or second, no clear ideas. I asked again for updates two days later on January 1st. I was told "Please be patient. Your stuff is on the truck which is currently on route to BC. We already told you it will be delivered today or tomorrow." I called the office on the 2nd to get an update, they said they were with the building manager as we speak and moving everything in; four days late. Luckily, I had friends who were able to host for me the four nights I was told sit tight and "be patient". I kept the bare minimum of my furniture. Once I got to the place, nearly half of what I own was broken or damaged and a box was missing. I submitted an insurance claim with the Starway Moving's insurance. They said that what I had that was damaged was only worth $315. When submitting a claim, I had to pay a $350 deductible out of my pocket - Starway Moving is not hold to pay anything. What you need to pay attention in the fine lines, is that the value of your furniture is based on it's weight x $0.60 per lbs. So for example, they calculated that the headboard of my bed frame is worth $90.00. IN # 496 Bed Frame - Estimated weight 150 X $0.60 = $90. But with the broken headboard, I couldn't attach the other pieces. So this $700.00 bed-frame went to the dumpster. Another evaluation: IN # 01 Bike Tire - Estimated weight 5 pounds X $0.60/lb = $3.00 when really is cost $25.00 for a new tire plus installation. I paid over $1,000.00 for the move (no money back after all the issues) and spent another $1,500 replacing broken items or purchasing material to repair them myself. One month after no responses from Starway, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Save yourself time, money and a lot of paperwork. You’re better off renting a uhaul or going to another company.

One of the WORST and most unprofessional companies(not sure I can even call it that) I have ever come across!! Seething as I write this… the lady we initially were in contact with gave her name as “Jenny” who initially assured us the date we will receive our furniture - but the date got pushed further without any notice and upon asking she assured we will receive everything by tomorrow - instead they switched off their phones and went MIA with no explanation whatsoever as we kept waiting. Mind you we even took our week off to match the date she gave us. The next day we receive an email(their phones still switched off) that we must pay them right away - we asked why we never received our stuff (we had already informed them of our travel plans and she had assured it’ll be done by that date but again no mention of that after) she instead replies asking for the payment completely avoiding our question and when we sent the payment - she replies the stuff will now be shipped Monday, the audacity! The way we received our stuff is another story altogether, they sent an inexperienced guy(in his own words) who kept giving excuses on how they cannot move certain pieces of furniture and wasted our time chatting up and casually strolling trying to avoid any heavy lifting - it was a nightmarish experience that we wanted to end. Not only that but damaged the newly painted walls of our new rental with his clumsiness and cluelessness. This is the service they give us after excuses and repeated delays. My very solid dresser and some glass shelves came destroyed and dirty as we discovered later despite us packing our things really well with styrofoam and what not. This lady we spoke to on the phone also kept changing her name(Jenny, Noor etc) and and voice but we could tell it’s her and she thought we couldn’t tell. It just seems like a elaborate scam company and a poorly managed family run business where they don’t even know what they are doing themselves. Please do yourselves a favor and save your money from these lying thugs and go elsewhere!!

An incredibly positive experience from Day 1 - Long distance communication with Jenny and Adam in the front office started with their detailed description of the services offered, including expected costs, reasons for charges and timing windows. Their advice that the move from Southern Ontario to the Calgary area would be done in stages: move into a truck from my house into their warehouse where it would be held until there was enough combined moves (from separate moves) to fill a Rail car for shipping across country, then storage in their warehouse until my move was to be completed. There was ongoing communication with Jenny and Adam as the different segments of the move happened and any queries about progress of the shipping, costing updates and scheduling were answered very quickly after calling or emailing them The Southern Ontario crew was incredible - well mannered, organized, and extremely efficient. Crew Lead Oscar called to confirm the move the day before they were scheduled and he and his 2 assistants were FABULOUS!! Oscar inventoried everything as it was being loaded onto their van: they were super efficient packing the van and extremely careful with fragile items When my delivery was scheduled in the Calgary area, I couldn't have asked more from Crew Lead Mohamed, assistants Eddie and Johnny. They made the completion of my move so effortless, making points to check which room each piece/box was to be moved into and taking extreme care around the freshly painted walls. After hearing many horror stories about moves with other companies and having expectations of something going wrong, I was so very pleasantly surprised with this move!!! The only casualties of the move were a few glasses, one picture frame (I had packed all of these - nothing that their Ontario crew packed arrived damaged) and a few minor dents and scrapes on the wall around corner stairs leading to the basement I can highly recommend Starway Moving and Transportation Inc without any hesitation or reservations!!!

Please read my full review on Yelp. It was too long for Google. Stay far away from this Company. I honestly don't know how they are still in business. They were great up till we gave our $500 deposit, then all communication stopped. We had a pick up date set for June 30th. We received a call from the driver that day after a couple calls to the office for a time and he said 1pm. He didn't show by 1pm. We called multiple times through the day to be told he was on the way. He never showed till 8:30pm and didn't finish loading till almost midnight. We had been given July 3rd or 4th as delivery. Our things weren't delivered till July 13th. We called multiple times, most times they didn't answer. The one receptionist told us the truck had broken down which was a lie. The Manager could have cared less about our situation. We have 2 young children that had very little for 2 weeks. This company cost us a ton of extra money as we thought we only needed a couple days worth of things. We also didn't get our actual moving cost till the day of delivery. Once we picked up the cheque at the bank we were told they would be at our house in an hour, it was 4pm. They didn't show till 8pm. And our very expensive bedframe was chipped. Our new entertainment stand wasn't wrapped on the bottom and they slid it and it has so much damage. I don't know how this company is still in business. They have lost their accreditation with the BBB. Don't trust the most recent reviews, most only have 1 review which seems they could be from fake accounts to try and increase their ratings. They also use another company for transport called Midwest which has even lower ratings. Spend the extra money and get a well named moving company. Unfortunately this company has now turned me away from wanting to use smaller moving businesses. What a joke of a business. Get a new Manager and care about how stressful a move already is or shut it down.

Moved From Alberta to Ontario with this company. Hiring them is really simple and easy - they make that portion of the process pleasant. From there, it was pretty much quickly downhill. The pick up went well-ish, except for the one employee's lack of professionalism, allegedly he's the husband of someone higher up within the company, so his attitude towards others reflected that, including his own co-worker. So much so, that his comments regarding his co-worker's colour of skin ended up causing the co-worker to cry in our yard while my wife hugged him. Fast-forward to the delivery date. The move in was quick, but it didn't take long to see the damages on the items that were there, and for us to figure out that there were a few big items missing. Our loveseat was smashed up, a mattress that we paid to be wrapped was moved without any plastic (so it was dirty and black upon arrival). Lamps were busted, BBQ wheels were falling off. That's to be expected with such a long move - no problem, we'll contact them, and they have insurance for this exact purpose. We were told one of our missing items where found (that was a month and half ago - still undelivered). We then filed a claim form for the other items. And the company has never replied regarding the form. They just continually keep forgetting to mention it. So I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Same thing... ignore every about the damaged/missing items, focus everything else, and take the money without every offering to compensate or make it right. The kicker to it all, they contacted me a month after the delivery date, and tried to tell me I still owed some outstanding storage fees... which is funny because they're adamant that they won't deliver your belongings until the final tally is paid for by money order or bank draft. Don't hire these guys, as mentioned by others. Pay the little bit extra and hire a decent moving company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have moved numerous times over the years, and by far this was the worst experience I have ever had. They were supposed to show up to move us at 8am, by 10am they hadn’t showed up but “were just running late and would be there shortly” Well, ok I thought, delays can happen but it would have been nice for them to communicate their delay with us. By 3pm they still hadn’t showed up, and by this time they weren’t answering their phones and as we continued to try and call them, we started to get the “we’re sorry, but this number does not accept message”. We were panicked because everything for our move was dependent on the movers showing up at 8am. FINALLY at 5pm they showed up!!! There was zero explanation as to their horrible lateness or extreme lack of professionalism in communication. They were scheduled to do 2 moves for us that day and at 9pm finally finished the first condo loading. But this point there was no way the get the 2nd condo loaded and they said they would be there at 9am the next day!!! This caused us a massive delay, added to our stress and anxiety, put us at the mercy of the weather, as we had to cross the Canadian Rockies and cost us money and time because of their inexcusable tardiness and lack of communication. This was only day 1!! Again, I have NEVER experienced such horrible lack of customer service, communication and professionalism. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM! Delivery day included threats of holding our furniture hostage, their company hanging up on us and then trying to charge us extra fees and absolutely zero communication on a time when they would be delivering our household goods. It honestly is not too strong to say we have been traumatized by our horrible experience with them and we are considering legal action.

Specified a 3 day pick up date. Picked up a day late after the 3 day range causing me to have movers picking up when cleaners and carpet cleaners were scheduled. I told them the times the cleaners were coming the day before when the did not pick up on time and said they would be in at 7am and out before the 10:30am cleaners, they showed up at 9:40am. And they were staying the night only 10mins from my house, so just decided to start late knowing they were a day late and I had scheduled services. I moved the majority of the stuff inside my house myself to make room for cleaners and carpet cleaners. On delivery day they showed up with 2 items broken. One being a mattress that was only a couple months old and had been crushed on one side and put into my house without saying anything. The other was one of my kids doll houses. They were already paid in full before delivery and I have never heard back about nicely complaining about my two damaged items. So a bad review is I guess my only compensation for the damages. Just use someone else to move your stuff once you have paid a deposit the team was rude about me asking about the fact that the pick up was going to be late. Bad communication, asking me to contact their drivers when there was questions about when are they going to show up for pick up and delivery. And the amount of extra charges they add that don’t make any sense, one being packing supplies, I believe they used a few rolls of tape to secure moving blankets that they said were included and a plastic couch cover and two twin mattress covers for an extra $155, when they stated and furniture that needed to be wrapped with moving blankets would be included.

*THE BBB HAS DISCREDITED THIS COMPANY* go read the reviews on there. The absolute worst people. The delivery guy stole our dolly and argued with us even when we showed pictures that it was ours. They WALKED on our boxes and broke them that way. The delivery guy said he had a 53ft truck with him to deliver our stuff and showed up in a cube uhaul but didn’t have it all. They delivered most of the rest of our stuff four months later but since they had BLOCKED my phone number nobody told me and just showed up. We’re STILL missing a seven foot long 7/11 antique sign…. As if it’s hard to lose. I’d love to talk to them about it but they’ve blocked my phone number and stopped answering my emails… They say they have a “claims” department but nothing ever gets found and they never contact you or have a contact number. It’s a family owned company ran out of a house in Alberta not the address given on Google maps so don’t waste your time sending mail to them. Anna was angry at me that I had left the province before the pick up date because my dad was dying. I repeat, she got mad because my dad was dying and had to leave early because she wanted to switch my pick up date 48hrs prior due to THEIR mis organization. That’s the kind of service you’ll get from them. Anna also later on told me she didn’t have time to help me and hung up on me. They quoted me $3000 and it was $5300 but they don’t give you proof of weight even if you ask for it. Just lie to them and say you have a one bedroom apartment to get quoted the minimum. You’ll pay triple the price anyways. Crooks. Petty people.

Weeks late. All of my sisters belongings are trashed. TV screen cracked, no crib for the baby, scratched and dented fridges, collapsed dressers and tote lids. All tags that were on objects on departure are no longer there and wrap jobs are all different. I could keep going, damage and missing items are extensive. Items inside boxes have evidence of rummaging (black hand prints on prom dress, etc.) The professionalism of the one mover was pitiful. I assisted in all of the moving when I didn't have to just because of the disgusting state their belongings were in. That one mover had the audacity to make mocking jokes towards me. After the truck was empty he approached me and grunted "washroom" at me 5 or 6 times before I realized he was asking to use our washroom after the state of our belongings and the manner in which he acted towards me. Couldn't even ask, acted like he was entitled to it after putting in mediocre handling and care in the unloading process. The other three guys though, none of this is directed to them. They were cordial, professional, went the extra mile, and even let us know every time they spotted damages to an item. Bottom line, just move your own stuff. They reimburse by weight, not by broken item, so a broken TV worth "x" amount of money is actually only worth the weight it is. (So if you got to move at 70 cents a lb it's only worth about 5-10 bucks in reimbursement.) This came straight out of the driver's mouth. You're basically donating money to a bunch of lowlives who steal your stuff.

Whatever you do... DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! I read their reviews in Jan 2020 and saw how horrible the reviews were... We took a gamble on them in Feb 2020. They were the only ones who could accommodate our dates. I packed 95% of our house before they got there. They moved our big furniture etc and most if not all arrived broken, parts missing, scratched, holes, ripped and the list goes on. Some of our furniture such as bookshelves had water damage... How does that happen? Nor, did I know our items from BC to Ont were going to be transported via train until AFTER they picked up our items and I was waiting confirmation when our items would be making its way to Ont. Once they told me by train, I realized our items would be loaded and unloaded several times by many people. Our dining room table arrived completely broken. It also arrived with an extra screw and glue... GLUE! They broke it, tried to fix it thinking I wouldn't notice... I also made them very aware I was cautious about hiring them because of the reviews.. I was ASSURED everything would be ok and that those reviews were incorrect... GUESS WHAT?! LIES! DONT HIRE THEM! Oh! Don't let me forget... they sent a smaller truck than what they should have.. I told them how big our house was... were a family of 5. And they sent a truck that didn't fit all of our stuff.. told me another truck would come by the next morning... NOPE! We had to pack as much as we could into our quad trailer and left the rest there...

Worse company period. We moved almost 4 weeks ago from Ontario to Alberta. We used an Alberta based moving company because they needed shipments to fill a container in Brampton, ON, heading to Calgary. They said about 10 days so we finished packing up and Starway loaded all of our belongings on June 08, 2022. We have been in our new house in Alberta now for over 3 weeks with belongings no where in sight. Starway won't pick up my calls won't answer emails or texts. About a week or so, they sent me a message saying they made a mistake I price and wanted another 25% on top of the original price quoted. Oh and then, said they would not deliver our goods unless we paid the new amount in advance of arrival. Now going on 4 weeks, we are sleeping on air mattress, no chairs or cooking utensils, no table or pillow, no tools or blankets, no cloths or soap. We have had to buy a new TV, lawn chairs, cloths, food and cooking utensils because we are being held hostage to this unscrupulous company that could care less about our well being. We have also told them that we are seniors and need our belongings that they are holding To be honest, I don't trust that our stuff us even in Alberta! Please do not use this company regardless of their claims. Read the on line reviews and stay away from this company. Don't say I didn't warn you@

If I could give zero stars I would!!! Turn and run from this company. If you’re reading this review and have yet to give them a deposit…PLEASE DON’T!! They are paying to farm five star reviews… Every genuine review that they get is one or two stars… If you notice, the five star reviews all come from accounts with only one or two reviews… That is a sure sign that they are review farming…. Grossly incompetent, rude and condescending. They switched our pickup twice BEFORE moving day, promised 4 different times ON moving day, before just plain not showing up. They then put the onus on me, the customer to contact the driver, only to find out that the driver has NO WAY to make it at the 4th time promised. Understandably by this point I’m frustrated, and lose my cool on the phone. At which point they cut off communications all together. Thankfully the Better Business bureau was able to get my deposit refunded after an official complaint was filed. No apology, nothing…these people do not deserve your business, your faith or your money. No move is worth this sheer amount of stress and aggravation. Just thankful we got the deposit back before they lost their BBB accreditation. Like I said at the beginning of this review. Turn and run.

WORST COMPANY!! Will take your money and keep your stuff hostage DO NOT PICK THIS COMPANY if you need to move. I’ve had the worst experience with starway moving. Not only did they charge way more than they said at the beginning (around 1k more) but as soon as they received the money I could not reach them and they would not deliver my stuff. They postponed the delivery by almost 2 weeks. Our delivery was scheduled for the 9th in the morning. As no one showed up I started calling them (as usual no one was picking up) after multiple tries they answered and said that it won’t be delivered because they never booked the delivery in the first place. The 3rd time it was supposed to be delivered, once again no one showed up and no one let us know. I then contacted them again and they told us that it will be delivered the next day. They have lied on multiple occasions to my face and were extremely rude saying that if I want my stuff I should drive there and pick it up myself. Non of the workers or the managers that I have talked to have apologized. I have never seen such an awful company that keeps your stuff after you have paid the full amount. Not only that but some of our stuff came damaged and broken.

Be warned! Starway should be considered a pirate company instead of a moving company. They are rude, foul and unprofessional. They did not arrive on time, were not organized. No body knew what they were doing. They took so many breaks and smoked in the truck where all the furniture was. They yelled at each other and right infront of our eyes damaged property. They had put some items in the trash and recycling boxes( $200 fishing rods!) They also left items behind, that had to be picked up later....once they took my daughter and her husband's belongings, my daughter tried to contact starway with all her concerns, they would not reapond for weeks. She had to make contact through the business bureau to no resolve. Over a month late from the delivery they had promised they finally dropped off some of their belongings on the front lawn!!! Practically all their brand new baby furniture, Tv and belongings are shattered and broken!!!! $9,000 dollars was the cost of having all their belongings destroyed and stolen. Unbelieveable! They will refund them $350 in totall for thousands of dollars in damages! My daughter and her husband are devestated. Please beware!!!!

Please Please Please Stop if you are moving with this co. Or never go with it if you are then you need to worry, final bill will make you super duper angry and in return answer will be why didn't you read our policy. Office staff is super annoying, rude and very aggressive. while taking money so quick but after not even bother to answer your call. Be careful with adding any supplies from driver because 10-20 $ box can cost you 100$ If they give you quotation read it, it says from 1000 to 3000 lb its 1100 for first 1000lb Mean if your stuff is 2950lb you are going to pay as follows 1000=1100 1950*50=975 =2075 + their charges Like Surcharge=875 12%fule= whatever your weight × 12% And if weight is 3000 its 300*.50=1500 So the point is you are paying 575$ extra just because your load is 50 kg less So I called office to tell them to ad just my weight to 3000 so I can save money it dosen't make sense for 50 lb less weight I am paying 575$ extra so she started arguing with me and said if you want your stuff first pay or forget your stuff. I just wanted a good customer service but its BIG ZERO I can say they dont even deserve a single star.

If I could give no stars I would, before handing over money this company was great.responded quickly to every email or phone call they were reasonable and friendly. Once they had our items it all went downhill. They picked up our items in midland ontario and were moving them to Alberta. Promised 6 weeks free storage ( which they didn't mention until it arrived in Alberta that storage begins when they pick it up) our items sat in ontario for 2 weeks before moving to a train headed west. They send me a written bill with an under weight charge of $1200 because we were exactly 20lbs under the minimum weight.( again this was never mentioned prior) they also added$250 for a stairfee when there was not one single stair in sight. When I forced them to take that off they then added $240 for a full month of storage when they'd only be holding my stuff for 4 days!!! I haven't even gotten my items yet and I'm afraid to see the state of them when I do. Thank God I got additional insurance on my.contents. don't use this company they will take you for every penny wether it's legal or not. I'm contacting legal advice before I give them pur money.

If not for the team in Brampton that loaded our belongings, we would not give Starway any stars. George and his team worked hard and fast, and handled our belongings with care. The unload team in Calgary on the other hand were brutal. Our belongings were badly handled, boxes were consistently brought in upside down and damaged, the move team did not have proper equipment and larger pieces were often dropped, dragged and even rolled into our house. They were incredibly slow compared to the Ontario team. To top it off, once the truck was finally emptied we were missing roughly 30% of our belongings, which were eventually found in their warehouse and brought to us 3 days later. The management team in Calgary was very understanding of our concerns and even allowed us to visit their warehouse to search for our stuff, but they should never have misplaced it in the first place. The biggest complaint we have for this company is the lack of care and respect shown for our belongings by the unload team in Calgary. We strongly recommend this moving company to get George to train their people in Calgary.

I would not select this mover! 1) We packed our mattress in transparent polyethylene bag. Movers silently took it during pick up. When they delivered mattress having damage the mover immediately told me that he is no responsible for the damage as the mattress was not properly packed by me. I spend fair 20 minutes talking to the guy trying to understand why he didn't warn me before delivery. The only answer I got is "read the contract, it's said that they are not responsible". 2) we underestimated our belonging 5 times. Our bad for sure. Again when the guy came to do a pick up they didn't tell us anything about x5 underestimation. So eventually I had to spend over 1000$ more than planned. If he would tell me during pick up I would just through away half of the items and bought a new ones then. So overall it doesn't fill like this is a professional service that will help you. They will move your stuff for sure and get their money. that's it. If you want to find someone who will really help you to move, save money and be a happy customer then I would suggest to look for a different company.

Horrible experience, PLEASE DON’T USED THEM even for free. I found this company online, I asked them to move my stuff from Edmonton, AB to Oakville ON. They sent 3 different trucks to pick up my stuff, they don’t have their own crew, they are hiring only unexperienced, cheap labour. They packed most of my stuff for extra fees on the top of weight-based charge. which i agreed on so they guarantee the safety of the stuff specially furniture and electronic. When I received the stuff, I found significant amount of damage to literally everything from minor scratches to completely broken items. They don’t respect their customers whatsoever; they should stop what they are doing. They will claim that it’s in the contract !!, in the contract does it say to bring 5 mattresses covered with black dirt, to break a bra new Samsung 60” TV. I am not even talking about missing items; two dining table chairs, at least 3 boxes filled with my stuff. Kitchen plates, cups at least 30-40 % of them were damaged. I believe if I hired them to destroy my stuff, they won’t be able to do a better job.

I moved from Ontario to Alberta, they are really quick and super nice until they get their full payment. They promised my stuff will get delivered in 2 weeks but it got delivered in exactly a month. The boxes were thrown around and had rips all over them, drinking glasses were broken, missing some boxes, that were packed with dishes, missing pictures, including my wedding picture, 65' in Samsung TV has a internal crack, coffee table has a broken leg, broken book shelve, 3 piece sofa set chair has a broken leg, BBQ has a big dent in it, furniture as scratches and knicks. I called the company and they told me to fill a claim form, which I did. It's been a well over a month since I ve been trying to follow up on my claim, and no contact, no one is answering or replying to emails. If you are going to use this company or any other, get insurance. FYI, they subcontract to uhaul to deliver to you home. So they take a full payment once stuff arrives at designation, and then hand it over to uhaul... The end. you never hear from Starway again!!!! Little kids running the show

With all of the moving horror stories out there, Starway gives the industry an amazing name! From my first contact with Courtney on the phone, to George doing our move, everyone involved was professional, friendly, and a joy to work with. We requested an in home estimate as we had more stuff than people could guess would fit into a 2 bedroom condo! Our in-person estimate was so accurate! We were told 11 - 12,000 pounds and the final tally was 11,500. An in home estimate costs you nothing extra and is so very worth it. We moved from a Calgary 3rd floor condo to a rural home without an issue. This is the first move of my life where not one single thing broke, everything was on time and quickly loaded/unloaded, and came in under budget! It was almost sad once the move was over as George and his crew were beginning to feel like family. If you want a trouble free move, read your contract (We had Starway pack our new TV so it would have been covered if something had happened to it), ask questions, get an in home estimate, and know that you're in good hands with Starway!

STAY AWAY! We moved from Ontario to Alberta, they were adequate on the loading end and did a good Job. The truck we had loaded into however was not the truck that came to unload in Alberta. Our items were now crammed into another truck without any care for the items. As a new table came off the truck dented, scratched and gouged, items have been lost and Starway could care less if you receive them. The unloaders wouldn't unload until a Money order was given. Once we paid them, they then unloaded and complained the whole time. They would not take directions, they scratched, dented and gouged walls and continued to damage furniture with their frustrations. When the claims department was contacted they have dragged things out for nearly 4 months with no intent of resolving any concerns. Be sure to have an attorney on the ready to help you if you decide to use this company. These people are only about taking your money, they hold your belongings hostage and when you receive them, your belongings will never be the same. Oh ,and be prepared to feed the workers as well.

Do not use this company. If I could give zero I would. This company had a 4.6 rating not even a month ago when I hired them I waited three and a half weeks for them to get my belongings to Alberta Canada only from Ontario Canada, where I had storage arranged. They could not tell me when my belongings would actually get there and eventually I had to forfeit my deposit on my storage unit so that I would not have to pay an entire month for something I didn't even use for a day because this moving company was so slack and unorganized....and then they tell me my complementary one month storage is effectively used up. Then they charge me for things I didn't sign for. And then because they are playing games I cannot afford the move right away due to it being twice the quoted price so they add on another 300$ for storage for a month when my stuff arrived a few days ago and I was told I get a month storage. They use an elevator and charge me stair fees and over charge my weight and then hold my belongings ransom. Do not make the same mistake I did. Avoid this company!

moved from st Catharines, ON to Calgary. everything till drop off was done nicely. well I take that back ,their scheduling for drop off was terrible, the actual crew for drop off were very good. But they lost 2 twin mattresses and a cushion cover. and that's were problems began first call they answered had me fill out a form. and since then communication has been sparce. I have called and emailed and they have answered only 3 times total. and second time they said there will be an email sent..got nothing. 3rd time they blamed the "dispatcher" said they spoke to them and I will be contacted .... nothing. they send me a picture through text with a Queen mattress asking if it was mine when I clearly mention 2 twin mattress in my form and email and calls. it's been a month since the last call. they won't answer my calls and have not called back or emailed me back. I may have to spam them or go to their office at this point service till drop off is good but if they break or loose your items good luck with them actually resolving any issues.

I had to tap on a star just so I can get a chance to drop a review, this company is a ‘No star’ to me. I am yet to receive my Items as I write, the staff of this company are exceptionally rude, nonchalant and unprofessional. Not truthful and misleading, whoever it is that is handling customer service shouldn’t be dealing with people, people kills is zero, A female staff actually dropped the phone on my spouse and myself a total of three times, for calling back and complaining and the person actually followed up with a mail asking us not to call again, that they would only interact by email since we threatened to contact a lawyer, and since then not a word from the company. I still haven’t gotten over this, as we speak they have neither replied to my complaints or request to have a definite timeline for delivery of our Items that is two days overdue from stipulated delivery date. For five days counting my family and I have been subjected to undue hardship since our relocation to Edmonton from Kitchener Ontario

Stay away from this mover. Bad customer service including wrong information regarding how they weigh our furniture, unreasonable low Initial estimate and surprisingly too high final estimate with no room for resacling or answer questions.. They didn't allow us to see when they weigh our furniture. When asked for rescaling, we were asked to pay exorbitant fee for rescaling. Their truck failed somewhere before they deliver our items in British Columbia from Ontario. They transferred our items to other moving company without our knowledge. In total, a 10 to 15 days delivery time as per their initual plan took them about one month. We were asked to pay in full almost ten days earlier than final delivery day. Generally, we had extremely bad experience with them. We also missed some of our stuffs, just waiting in case they misplaced it somewhere in other truck. ZERO STAR, not sure why Google don't have that option. We suggest others to stay away from this mover. .

Please hire this company if you want them to break your possessions & loose them! If I could give zero stars I would this company is literally a joke run by some immature children. Our stuff arrived with no labels or plastic wrap (the crew in Vancouver had tagged everything and wrapped it) in the back of a UHaul van, with footprints on the boxes, (they had been using our boxes as steps) and then only half of our stuff actually arrived, we were then promised our stuff would be delivered in a week… oh and they had also stolen our dolly as the crew that turned up didn’t have one and claimed it was there’s, it’s now over 5 weeks since then. Oh I tell a lie my bicycle arrived later that day in someone’s car. Try and call them they block your number, email them they don’t reply. Use a different number to call them and they do answer lol but you won’t get very far, they even hang up saying there too busy to help… Please please please don’t use this company.

The are liars the kept calling an acting nice before we committed to the contract once we agreed to use them then the nightmare started. They estimated that we will get within three weeks . we call after 2 weeks plus and our property where still with them in ontario.... they stopped picking their call and became rude on phone. The Jenny that was calling always stopped picking her calls...... Even as am writing now it close to one moth now Last week we called and they had to lie to us that our properties are already on their way and that it will get to Calgary with 5 days to one week today I called to follow up only to be told thta the property just Left Ontario...... I dont even know what to believe again..... they are very unprofessional and liars..... fraudulent people ....... U can only use this company if you have no valu for your properties..... I can never advice my enemy to try them.

Company responds quickly when you have questions until your things are picked up and in their hands. We sat in an empty house for two weeks until we were finally given a date when we would see our things. Lots broken, dishes that belonged to my late sister in law, pottery my grandchildren had made for us. I didn't put in a claim for those as they were irreplaceable. Dresser broken, ladder missing, dresser mirror has yet to be unpacked as I'm afraid to look. A few pictures, glass and frames broke. There has to be a better way than picking up belongings, taking them to a warehouse and unpacking them, packing them back in the truck and taken to the train station where they are once again moved into the train and then moved onto another truck when arriving at destination. Then taken to a warehouse until they decide to deliver to the customer. Ridiculous way of doing things.

Movers were fantastic, office staff was great and very helpful, HOWEVER the person who does your quote for cost of moving, who they tell you is their best estimator and is almost always accurate with her quotes (also turns out that the estimator is the company owner by the way - conflict of interest perhaps??) The "accurate" estimator misquoted us by more than 70%...i'll say that again...more than SEVENTY percent increase on our final bill before they'll unload your belongings. Quote low, increase bill & withhold property until payment is made. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE! after discussion they begrudgingly knocked off close to $500 which left us paying over 8 thousand for a job that was quoted at 5. Sadly, I'll never go with this company again and never go with a company where the owner, the one who stands to profit the most, is the one who is setting your estimated price :(

We hired starway for our move from Delta to Airdrie. Worst decision ever. I saw the reviews about no communication, bad service, and “lost” items. But when they get you on the phone they are really nice, professional and even address the bad reviews head on, telling you that that was a old contractor they used, and every other excuse in the book. When only half of our stuff showed up we got the sorry about that, we will find it if we can. Then nothing e-mail every day call every day and we got complete radio silence. The only way we could get a hold of anyone was to borrow a phone and call from a number they did not have on file. There was a news story on this and there parent company please go Google it. Do not fall into the same trap I did, do not trust this company you will be better off to rent a truck hire some labor and do it your self.

Preet, I can’t thank you enough for helping me out at the eleventh hour when I needed you guys to help with my move. Even with the short timing, you managed to squeeze me in and make my move a successful one. Thank you Preet! The guys who did the loading and off loading are also not left out of this review as this is what we call teamwork and collaboration. These guys were quite professional and also friendly. There was no single damage as the company cares about their customer’s safety and were willing to help and answer all my questions. The customer service was top notch and unbeatable! You guys truly rock! I would definitely recommend you guys over and over again over any other moving company.

This was by far the worst moving company I have ever had to deal with and that is saying something as this was my third move this year alone. They were three hours late the day of the loading and broke a ceiling lamp that they refused to compensate for. The final price I paid was double their estimate, they guaranteed a delivery date (which was the only reason I hired them) which then they couldn't make for no good reason. The dispatcher, Anna, yelled at me on the phone and hung up on me when I asked her why they couldn't deliver on the date we had agreed upon. The manager, Preet, failed to provide any help and kept deferring to the dispatcher. Just the worst overall!! I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Later found out that their real name is Midwest moving but they rebranded because of poor online reviews!

I hired this company and gave them 3 days that they requested to pick up my furniture . Each day was some kind of excuse why they were not there … On the fourth day they said they would be there and no phone call , they didn’t answer .. so I had to get another company to pick up my furniture.. as I had to be out of there by midnight as I had told them. Then at 10:30 pm a guy showed up with a small truck and no helpers … They refunded 1/2 of my deposit and refuses to give me the other half.. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! You will regret it… and I will post this every day until they return my other 1/2 of my deposit.

Starway Movers has moved my furniture and belongings west and east. Each step of the way was excellent service. The admin team gave me an accurate quote and was so very helpful the entire process. I felt my moving needs were understood and the experience of the team was so beneficial to a novice like me. The movers were excellent and were very happy at how organized I was. Even during covid the move back was easy and safe. I am so very happy I found Starway movers. The cost was very reasonable and so much more affordable than large companies. And the service was top-notch. I highly recommend Starway movers for any size move (mine was a large move). And the smile on my son's face when he saw his motorcycle being unloaded in perfect condition said it all!

I was planning a move across country from Montreal to Alberta and was strongly considering Starway moving. Both Adam and Jenny were excellent and responsive for phone calles and emails. They were both very friendly and professional and generally pleasant to talk to . Adam was on the ball with follow ups, always called when he said he would and was always eager to answer any questions. I ended up going a different route for my move in the end but was very satisfied with the communication and efficiency with both Adam and Jenny at Starway Moving. They are aware of the poor reviews and seem very committed to changing the future ones into positive reviews. I am confident they have the devotion and dedication to make future moves positive experiences.

I used their service when I moved from Vanvouver to Calgary last year. Their service was horrible When I made appointment with them for my moving date they did't come due to their loading truck was broke down. I did not get any phone call from them even the appointment time passed over several hours and I booked the my condo's elevator with charge. The office didn't get any answer because it was on the weekend. I could reach them until night of the appointment day even the schedule was at noon. Therefore I had to reschedule woth them and elevator with no compensation. Also on delivery guys in Calgary they argued nd yelled each other while they were moving my stuff. It was my one of nightmare and absolutely I won't recommend them to anyone.

Don’t choose this company! They are horrible! Before I signed the contract,they contacted me everyday and responded my email right way! But since I pay the deposit and signed the contract! My nightmare began!no one answered me phone ,no one responded my email. They don’t even know where is my furniture the delivery day which we signed in the contract. Two weeks later they just let me pay money and told my stuffs will been delivered tomorrow. And no one tell you when and who to contact! The owner is worse! She told me the delivery people already there and I have to be there in 20 minutes if not I need extra charge! But where I been there, no body there, and she didn’t pick up my phone! If I could give them no stars I would. The moving team was really good, great group of men. The owner (who does the quotes btw) misquoted is by 75%. So what was supposed to be a 5,000$ bill was well over 8,000$. The office was told not to unload our things until we paid them the 75% more. We were totally shanghaied and tried multiple times to speak to the office staff to talk to the owner and arbitrate the bill. Unless you like being ripped off I wouldn’t recommend Starway. Like any good company if you misquote you take responsibility for it and sometimes have to eat your mistake. This was sadly not the case and I get no joy in posting this review but only want to help others in the future avoid what we’ve had to go through.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Terrible company to deal with from start to finish. The movers themselves were okay but the people running the office/business side of things are rude, don’t answer phone calls, set poor expectations and lowball quotes to get you to book with them. The lady in the office actually told my husband she had better things to do than to call and let us know the truck would be 7 HOURS late. We were quoted $3500 and charged over $7000, and when my husband tried to ask questions about the charges the lady cut him off and yelled at him saying he had to pay or she wouldn’t release our belongings and HUNG UP ON HIM. Awful awful company that doesn’t deserve a penny of your money. BOOK SOMEONE ELSE

I gave these guys a chance we booked our move early in June so our stuff would arrive by July 10th it didn't come until July 29th... 19 days late 1000 calls no answer they then split my stuff up into two trucks all sorts of stuff came broken boxes just smashed up after spending $2000 on moving boxes and suppliessending an email but doubt I'll receive anything back they expect to be paid but deliver my stuff broken or not at all. Quoted us for 3 hours, and went 4.5 hours over that time. They took over 7 hours in total to move a 2 bedroom apartment from one suburb to another, and broke MULTIPLE items. They dropped things right in front of us, and while unpacking we have found numerous items broken. They blamed us for the time, saying having small items makes it takes longer, and brought a new worker that didn't know what he was doing. The boss stood around talking to us, telling us his life story or on the phone rather than helping his employee actually do the job. They did a horrible job, took way too long, broke items, then tried to blame us for things. We will never use them again, and recommend no one use them.

This was my worst experience with any movers. They were good until I paid them and after that it's just getting worse and worse. They lost some of our home stuff and it's been more than a week since I submitted the claim and I got no response. They don't respond to emails, I call them 3, 4 times daily and none of the managers or supervisors come to phone and I get standard reply from helpdesk that we are looking into it. They haven't even provided me payment receipts, and I have paid them fully. I have asked for invoice/payment receipts multiple times through emails and phone calls, they can't even send that. Stay away from them if you want your stuff and peace of mind intact.

They are really quick and nice till they get your money. Moved from Mississauga ON to Calgary AB with quite a few broken items from bad handling, some other customers items delivered to me and was quick to tell the driver not mine, even though my items were properly packed and labelled by me and the pick up crew, some were still not delivered, after notifying the company, they found it and I expected to deliver asap since it was negligence on their part. Had to wait for 3 weeks writing series of mails with the same response “ we will deliver at our next availability” , I eventually had to get a big vehicle to go pick them up myself, when I noticed they couldn’t be bothered.

Please AVOID this company AT ALL COST!!! It deals with a fraudulent company in Ontario, called Nation Wide Vanlines. They lost one of my bags and did not even offer an apology, let alone make any effort to find my bag. They say they use government approved weight scales, but they bill you for extra weight. They sent me the scale ticket nearly a month after they had weighed my belongings, and the empty scale date was February 10th. I had my things picked up on April 21st!!! They are liars. DO NOT let their smooth talking sales people (Sue especially) con you! If you want to use a moving company, use one registered with the Canadian Association of Movers.

Worse movers ever! If you want to pay movers to deliver your items lost and damaged, these movers are the ones to use! After paying them to move our items, we had to go our pay to replace everything they lost or damaged. They did not even care, no response to our calls or emails. They feel they have the right to deliver your items broken or not at all. thier policy is for compensation is .60 cent a pound on items but wait, they have a 300 deductible so good luck in getting a single penny from them.. Very unprofessional and rude. Do no use these them - pay the extra money for a reputable moving company, it's well worth it.

They will tell you what you want to hear to gain your business but come the actual move their lack of scheduling skills and terrible communications will leave you with nothing but anxiety and stress. Many of my items never showed up...have other peoples items from other houses. Numerous damaged items...once you are booked no customer service. Ignored my phone calls. Didn't even put some of the furniture in house. I asked strangers to help me. Worse company in the world but they don't care I had items scratched and dented....I am in shock at their service and they overcharged. I am reading positive reviews recently on this page...did they change owners or are these fake? I had such a horrific experience and yet these other reviews? I am moving to Calgary now and of course not using Starway....

I recently moved from Calgary to Ottawa with Starway moving. They totally lack customer service support, it took almost a month longer than expected to deliver our furniture and they never knew where our stuff was. They never returned our emails and deliberately decided not to talk to us on the phone. Several times we were contacted by their dispatch people in Ottawa saying: tomorrow we will be doin The delivery and 3 times they had excuses such us: truck was not working, issues with other customers, etc… After month and a half we got all our stuff but beware that this company is not reliable

My husband and I moved from British Columbia to Alberta in August 2019. We hired Starway Moving and Transport from Calgary to move us. We were very impressed with the pickup! Daniel was very knowledgeable, efficient, quick and courteous. The crew members also did a great job and worked as hard. We were also impressed with the drop off. Starway moving helped us with our move from Brampton to Calgary recently. The guys who came to pick up the delivery were truly professional. They did put a lot of efforts to not damage any of the items while loading the truck. They even let me go with them to check the scale for the load. Our items moved early than estimated date and they stored it for over a week. Unloading the items was a smooth experience as well. We checked everything and nothing is missing or damaged. It was great working with Satrway folks. To be honest we were a bit worried because we read the reviews, but I would say that experience is very subjective. for us we really felt it was very professional picking up and dropping out stuff; although because I had lots of books they didn't bring all the boxes to the basement where I wanted it but left some in the garage when they dropped it. I would recommend being very specific with them and clarifying everything and I think you would be have a great experience. And above all very timely and compared to others you would save a ton.

If I could give this company a negative star I would. A lot of damage to my belonging when they moved me and then took me 8 months to get a response after literally dozens of phone calls and emails. They will not let you speak to a manager or the claims department. The false advertising on their websites states the following... "We promise to work quickly and carefully to ensure your treasured belongings get to your new location in the same condition they left." This could not be further from the truth, I would not recommend them under any circumstances.

If I could give zero stars I would. A HORRIBLE company and experience. Their trucks seem to be always “breaking down” on the road delaying another few days and making the move so much more stressful. The lady answered asking me if my name was someone else, I said no but is this a moving company ? It was as if she was expecting someone else to call. We moved to Alberta not too long ago and needed a company to move our furniture as soon as possible. Though the movers were sweet, almost everything was damaged and broken. Even our piano, which is a small piano, was snapped in two. For a company that boasts about having moved larger pianos, I am surprised that ours was a hassle. There are scratches on the wood that weren't wrapped up and our leather couch came with holes in it. ADDITIONALLY, we paid extra for it to be handled more carefully but it seems like our request fell on deaf ears.

Terrible Terrible Terrible! MidWest Moving and Starway Moving ARE THE EXACT SAME COMPANY. They are a bunch of liars, and will not honour any agreement because they have no honour. They changed plans on me without letting me know (my stuff didn't come for weeks after promised). Then the idiots refused to deliver it to my new place, telling me it'll be at a warehouse and that I can rent Uhaul and get it in myself. We moved from Calgary to Tsawwassen BC. We went from a large home to a medium home and it was quite stressful. Right from the beginning working with Courtney was amazing. She was a straight shooter and always tried to help. This also comes through with the driver as George was amazing, a work horse and cares. My only suggestion might be to be careful where they tape up some things as tape leaves marks/residue but even they they seemed to only do that on the kids furniture that already had marks. I would use them again in a min.

Some of them sad took 4 months to delivery. Then I expected 4 months even StarwAy’s staff told me take 2 weeks to ship from Toronto to Calgary. Finally, I got my stuffs after exactly 2 weeks. I had really good experience with this company. I contacted them on quite short notice. The estimator was excellent to work with. She made the process as easy as it could be. I was made fully aware that the end price might be higher and why. The crew at pick up were a little slow but very kind and the crew at drop off were absolutely fantastic. I was kept up to date on the process and always got a response to my questions. I found that everyone worked hard to make sure we had a good experience. And we did!

The reason I chose Starway was because of how Liz took care of my needs over the phone. Everyone wanted our business but was not patient enough to listen to what I needed and Liz took very good care of us. The move went well, the team was careful and the only thing that got broken was a item I packed myself. I also have to add that one of the movers cut his hand and should stopped to take care of his cut but insisted on pushing through and went to doctor at end of day to get assistance. Great work Liz!!

Extremely poor customer service, showed up at 5pm on moving day with too small of a truck that didn’t fit all of our belongings. Broke several items, refused to pay for damages, movers are not actually movers, just random help they find. Truck they used was a rental truck. Thanks to Renee and the whole team for making our experience really wonderful from dissembling our furniture to covering , loading and then unloading all our belongings in the rooms as labeled. They let you know up front what all the possible cost will be and the break down of what you are paying for. They damaged/broke a LOT of my stuff and refused to do anything about it. They also charged me double of the price I was originally quoted. Extorted the money by asking to be paid in full after loading up the truck and leaving, a full day before the contract states. We moved with Starway from Edmonton to Calgary. It was a very stress free move. The guys were very respectful, on time and took care of our belongings. I would highly recommend Starway to all my friends and family.

Do Not under any circumstance use this company, they will not show, turn up late, rip you off, and then hold your goods until you pay charges that are not on the original invoice.. they have damaged properties too

BED BUGS!!! Yes, that’s right, BED BUGS!!! Please do NOT use this company. I now have a bed bug infestation after using them to move my items. This has been the most horrifying experience of my entire life!!!!!!!
