Joining SAM Lab is one of the best decisions I’ve made! It is more than just ‘another gym’, it’s a way of life. I signed up after 2020 lockdown, I had put on weight, was burnt out, stressed and had a shoulder injury… probably caused by all of those things and working from home, bent over a laptop. My first appointment was with Dan the physio. I told him I wasn’t into weights (I had never lifted more than a kettle bell) and I wanted to lose weight not bulk up . Dan was a legend and spent a lot of time coaching me about what the benefits were and what results I could expect to see short and long term. He worked with my injury and helped me navigate the classes, making sure I knew what I was doing and helping me modify exercises until I was more comfortable. Classes at SAM Lab feel more like PT as one of the coaches is always nearby to give advice, help you out or give you a push if you need it. They are just a bunch of really nice guys who want to see you do your best and be the best version of yourself. You also have access to a nutritionist. Amanda really knows her stuff and does regular coaching calls. I found this invaluable as I did not understand calories, protein, macros etc. She also looks at lifestyle and how that can impact your goals – sleep, stress etc. There’s a really nice bunch of people so classes are actually good fun and there’s other social stuff you can opt into as well - bush walks, yoga, socials etc. I feel so much mentally and physically stronger, am more aware of my diet and most importantly, have more energy to keep up with my young kids!
I have been a member of Sam Lab for over a year now and this is honestly the most consistently I have trained with any gym I've held a membership with over the past 10 years. I joined while recovering from a wrist injury and Chris, Dan and the coaches were incredibly supportive in helping me to train effectively and build strength through this recovery. I have been really proud of the strength progress I've made in a year through training consistently alongside the guidance and support of the coaches. The regular nutrition calls and workshops with Amanda are really helpful in building and maintaining sustainable habits for the long term. Being a part of the Sam Lab community has made it easy and enjoyable to stick with a training program as all the thinking is done for you. The social and community aspect of the gym has also been a big factor for me after attending gyms and following programs by myself over the years. The gym is full of amazing people and the group nature of classes makes it easier to make new friends. Chris does a fantastic job at gathering everyone for coffees, hikes, workshops run clubs, beach workout sessions and end-of-challenge celebrations. I would highly recommend this gym if you are looking to improve your strength, mobility & fitness within a wonderful community!
I was training at f45 for a few years & thought I’d never leave until one day I seen SAM lab advertised & read reviews from Chris’ old clients & thought maybe it’s time to change things up. I felt I had plateaued at f45 & heard of lots of people getting injuries so I joined up to a 6 week challenge at SAM lab. My initial goal was to do a chin up which I had never done without a band, I was close but never got there. After 4 weeks at SAM lab I reached my goal, my new goal was to do a pull up.... honestly thinking this was unrealistic, I had tried many times before but my body wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried, I then read somewhere that it’s nearly impossible for some women and so I stopped trying. This morning while doing some mobility work on shoulders Chris said to me “try a pull up” straight away I said “I can’t do them” but gave it a go and low & behold I done it this really made me realise how much stronger I have got from training at SAM lab. I cannot recommend it enough. I’ve also stopped going to physio for a shoulder problem as theres no need anymore that’s purely due to the mobility exercises Chris includes in the workouts. Not only is the training amazing but also advice on nutrition, the motivation, great atmosphere & great people that have become friends.

I'd felt like i had hit a wall. Through a friend, i'd heard about Chris and the SamLab team offering a boutique strength and movement coaching facility. She seemed to love it and got some amazing physical results, so i decided to check it out for myself. Its been a year now and i don't look back!! The SamLab team are more than a training facility, you genuinely feel like you're part of a family of like minded people. We encourage and inspire one another and Chris is one of the safest coaches/PTs I've worked with. You genuinely feel like you're in good hands. He pushes you when he knows you have the ability and focuses on mobility over heavy lifting evertime! This paired with a friendly environment, reignited a dormant passion for exercise and strength training I once had. In the 12months I've kicked major goals, such as 5x chin ups (I couldn't do 1), 62kg bench press, 110kg squat to name a few. Having never been a member of a gym previously nor someone who liked the idea of working out in front of others, I was so impressed with everything SAM Lab had to offer. During the initial consultation I was made to feel comfortable and welcomed by the entire coaching team and fellow gym members. It is a positive and encouraging space for everyone to achieve their goals. There is no one size fits all approach with this gym, everyone is included and supported no matter how far along you are in your fitness / health journey. Throughout Covid lockdown the team kept its members engaged, entertained and active. During a time when you were almost socially encouraged to become a couch potato, the SAM Lab team had me in the best shape of my life. It is so much more than just a place to workout, it is an intimate space for open, likeminded people to work on and improve themselves. You are guided hands on through every session Including nutrition and overall wellbeing. Weekend sessions are commonly follow by a coffee catch up in the park which makes you really feel like you are part of a family. I Can’t say enough great things about Chris and the entire team. You guys are awesome and I look forward to seeing you all each morning.
I have not stepped into a gym since the lockdown began 3 years ago, and towards the end of last year I made a commitment to investing in my health. I spent my holidays looking for local gyms for free trials etc. Chris was responsive & welcoming in our initial meeting, and decided to jump on board. At first, gyms can be intimidating, but at SAM lab they recognise & welcome you with open arms from the very beginning, and programme weekly sessions that focuses on different parts of body so you can do a quick 45 min everyday if you please, and feel good and get on with life. I’ve learnt that you don’t need to spend hours at the gym, exercise is just one small part of the big picture, recovery & nutrition is more important. They give you all the tools needed to achieve your goals, and you get out of it what you put in , consistency, patience and after 3 months I look in the mirror and I am pleased with what I see and makes me just want to keep going and pushing myself a little further each day in my fitness journey . Our coaches Chris , Dan, Laura , Charlie & Amanda are all legends. So good to be a part of a team in our community Make fitness a priority and everything else falls into place.
I love this gym so much that "must be close to SAM Lab" was the first criteria in my house hunt. I have hip and back issues from previous gym injuries which I thought would prevent me from ever doing big lifts properly. But after steadily working on my mobility and form at SAM Lab, plus sessions with Dan the in-house physio, I feel like my greatest risk now is splitting my gym shorts from the gains. All the trainers at SAM Lab are A+ champs who really care about their work. Unlike other gyms, they get to know you and will take the time to show you proper form or adjust exercises to your needs. Everyone is welcome and the classes are planned out so you can track your progress in each lift. There are social events you can opt into, but even the classes have good vibes and the gym community is super friendly and supportive. After 2 years at SAM Lab I feel stronger, healthier and more energetic than I ever have before. I never thought I'd be passionate about the gym but I genuinely look forward to class every day. After a failed attempt to take up running during lockdowns (disaster - I am never going to be a runner), I started ‘shopping around’ for a local gym that wouldn’t intimidate me. With at least 10 gyms within walking distance from my apartment, there were many to check out. From the moment I met with Chris, and did a week’s trial, I knew that SAM Lab’s coaches and community were right for me. Supportive of all ages and fitness levels, no judgement, just encouragement and support, with some fun community activities thrown in. I’ve never stuck with a gym this long before, and I’ve surprised myself with my gains in lifting, and how strong I feel. Saturday’s Conditioning class still kills me - but in a good way! All of the coaches bring something different to the mix, but importantly, they are all friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and not judging. Amanda’s nutrition tips are a bonus. A great bunch of members adds to the supportive and fun atmosphere.
I've been training at Strength and Movement Lab for almost 6 months. Prior to joining I had trained at several gyms, with a primary focus on strength training through weightlifting and powerlifting. In these last 6 months I have seen unprecedented leaps in strength and have found my performance to be consistent day in day out (training roughly 5 days per week), this can be credited to Chris and the other trainers building scientifically backed programs that help you train smarter and not harder. The staff and other members make it an incredibly warm environment and we all look out for each other and push each other to achieve our own personal bests and goals. I can't thank Chris and the team deeply enough for how much they have helped me build such good habits for myself, its been a domino effect of positive changes over the last 6 months and I owe a lot of that to them! Thank you guys!!
I joined SAMLAB after seeing one of there ads on Facebook and it was one of the best decision I ever made. I’ve always hated every single minute of exercise but since being with SAMLAB Ive become someone who loves getting up in the morning to train. It’s a fun and supportive environment where it doesn’t matter what you look like or what your fitness level is, you never feel out of place or self conscious. The coaches are amazing and always promote that balance is the key to a healthy lifestyle. They care and will check in with you if you miss a session. Each class they guide you through every exercise and have weekly workout plans so you can track your progress to see how much you improve. I’ve been going to gyms on and off since I was 15 and have never felt more myself or comfortable at a gym. They go the extra mile and always do it with a smile. Can’t recommend this gym enough!
I joined SAM LAB in January as I wanted to kick start the year and get back into a routine with training. From the get go, I was extremely impressed with the depth of knowledge Chris and the team have, and the real warmth and welcome towards everyone. My initial 1 on 1 with Jonny was excellent - he did a thorough assessment to understand where I was at, and how SAM LAB would help with setting goals going forward. What struck me, is they really want to help you succeed and reach your goals, you’re not just a ‘client’. This is one of the main reasons that keeps me coming back and wanting to train more. The results I have seen are fantastic. My strength and mobility have improved greatly along with my wellbeing and my all-round mental health has improved greatly too. If you’re looking for fun and a welcoming space to get back into training, I highly recommend joining!
I started at SAM Lab nearly 2 years ago. Chris and the team are amazing! You aren’t a number like at other gyms. They get to know you and really push you to be your best whilst also recognising if you are struggling or recovering from an injury. When I hurt my knee, Dan the Physio linked with the gym helped me get back into training and Amanda, the nutritionist has given me so much life long knowledge. Before I joined, I thought the only way I’d see results was through cardio! I hate cardio. Now, the only cardio I do is my 10000 steps I try to get daily and the Saturday class at SAM Lab. Strenght and resistance training has helped me get stronger and more toned. After regular and consistent training I’m lifting weights I never thought I could and I’ve gotten my first chin ups and pull ups!
I have been going to SAM lab for nearly 2 months and I cannot recommend this gym enough. Chris and the other coaches are very friendly and supportive. I have been doing personal training with Laura twice a week ( who is a superstar, knows her stuff, is super friendly) and is helping me get results. My belly has already reduced and I’m feeling fitter and healthier! I have not been a gym regular for 10 years and the friendly attitude at SAM lab makes me think I should have joined a lot earlier. I cannot recommend this gym enough for those wanting to get fit and start exercising again. They only offer small classes or one on one training but that actually suits me as I need someone to motivate me. join SAM lab today - you won’t regret it.
I cannot speak highly enough of the team at SAM Lab! I started my 6 week challenge in January. Since then I have lost 6.3kgs. More importantly for me, my posture has significantly improved and my back feels stronger than ever! I have tried numerous gyms over the years and I’ve never had the feeling of actually looking forward to going! SAM Lab has changed this for me, and now I genuinely can’t wait to get stuck in to my classes! I’ve also never eaten so well in my life, the team have guided me through understanding what food helps me get the most out of my day, whilst still having a balance to enjoy lots of the food I have done for years!! Get involved, you won’t regret it!!
I can’t recommend SAMLAB and the team of coaches enough. I started with them at the beginning of 2021, feeling at my lowest - stressed out, over weight and with an injury. I remember walking up the steps and being welcomed into the fold by Chris and then being set up with Physio Dan to look at my strength/ exercise needs and then Amanda for nutrition. But is isn’t just the coaches that make this place, the people who train here are also a bit part. The small groups mean you make friends and build a support network that helps with reaching your goals. Obviously you have to put in the effort but you know the team at SAMLAB is on your side and is there to help you succeed!
I joined this gym with the intention of reintroducing a healthy routine and building strength. What pleasantly surprised me was the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere I discovered. The community I've found here has transformed my experience, getting rid of any feelings of loneliness. Even when I don't respond, there are always people checking in on me (sorry Chris!). While achieving physical results was my initial goal, I must emphasise that the happiness and enjoyment I've gained from being part of this gym have become the primary focus. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a more relaxed and fun fitness environment with overall results!
I've been training with Charlie at SAM LAB for nearly a year. He is by far the best PT I've ever trained with. (And there's been a few.) Highly qualified, Charlie has endless patience and is always enthusiastic. He has helped me do things I not thought I'd ever achieve. From the start, when I messaged via insta, the team has been professional and responsive. Chris called me back when promised and is always there with a big smile and loud "hello" when I arrive. Great place. Highly recommend. Especially if you're scared of gyms like me...
Having been out of training for over a year due to injury, I decided to join SAM Lab and start back into it. I am so happy I did! Within a few sessions with Jonny I noticed my strength improving and my shoulder pain disappearing. Now four months on from joining I have exceeded all of the goals I had set out. Both my strength and mobility have increased massively and I can also see massive physical results. I have both Chris and Jonny to thank for this due to their continued support and advice and I cannot recommend SAM Lab enough.
I joined almost 3 months ago and I feel that I must share my experience with everybody. When I started to training with SAMLAB I noticed that I’ve never trained so effectively before and it’s a completely different strength training than other gyms. Every session I burn huge amount of calories which is unusual for me and I feel that I become stronger. Atmosphere there is friendly and comfortable. Coaches are very supportive and always ready to help you achieve your personal goals.
Absolutely love this place, the trainers and what they're about. Chris is focused, committed and genuinely cares about you, that is why he does 90% of the classes. He pushes you to your limits allowing you to achieve your goals. This place is like no other with the calisthenics between sets to allow for better range and movement. If you want good vibes, great trainers, result proven workouts and to hit PB's look no further, this is your place and Chris is your man.
I have been a Member of Sam’s Lab for over 2 years . . After the Covid Lockdown of 2020, I was looking for a smaller more personable gym. I have found a great gym with the coaching staff, Chris, Dan, Amanda, Laura and Charlie. A great team of professionals who guide you to be fitter, stronger and have more mobility in a variety of exercises. Highly recommend this gym, not only a gym , theres social events, seasonal challenges and run clubs.!! Very happy gym member.
Hit the jackpot joining this gym! A great community with 45 min sessions. Each day is dedicated to a specific movement (and supporting movements) that can be tracked easily. The team is relaxed, confident, and competent to ensure you're getting the best, safest experience without injury. Gotta mention their regular opps to meet other members over coffee @ the park nearby, as well as get together at local cafes, pubs. A great crew and community they've built.
SAMLAB is the best gym I’ve been part of. I’ve joined many gyms over my life and I’ve never felt more welcomed and supported. At 60 I never feel too old: in fact just getting to the gym is celebrated by the amazing team of expert trainers. They always make sure your technique is spot on and push you just enough so you progress safely. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

It’s amazing. If you gave it 6 weeks you’ll get addicted and will never want to leave. So personalized and will look free you in ever way
Chris has taught me the value of simple changes in my diet + gym workout. I have seen my body change in the past 8 weeks in a steady manageable way whilst I have still managed not to cut out alcohol or socialising. Could not recommend him highly enough if you need a reboot.
Great gym that really help in giving motivation. Trainers are very educated and provide clear and helpful direction. Achieving long term goals now seems achievable by making incremental progress and noticing significant improvements in major lifts.
Absolutely love this place. Can't find anywhere better to get results! If you're willing to commit to your goals, they're willing to commit their blood sweat and tears to help you reach them! Great environment. Great trainers. Great program.
