Disappointed to leave this review as this used to be a great neighbourhood option. Regrettably seems to have gone downhill. There was an issue with 4 out of 5 dishes; the middle-eastern bites dish specifically says 5 falafel balls, but was served 4, this was rectified on asking. They weren't balls unfortunately they were frozen pucks out of a packet. Ordered extra halloumi serving on another dish which was so thin it was basically see-through and didn't seem to represent fair value, this was also rectified on asking. We also got a full serve of fries for $8 but were given half a bowl, maybe a side serving instead of full serving? Didn't bring this up to the staff because of the previous two dishes. The staff were polite, just a shame about the food and service quality. I'll definitely head back up the road to some of the other cafes in the area instead.

I've been to this Cafe three times, both food and service were really nice for the first two times. However things went sour this morning when I went there with a friend who I've been recommanding this Cafe to a lot of times. We waited for 15 minutes and got a table.Only 30 minutes later, we were asked to leave in 5 mins(the guy said 'you guy need to leave in 5 mins' like he was giving orders to his customers) while I was still eating my half sandwich and yet to finish my coffee. Later the guy who asked us to leave came and said 'oh just forgot what I just said, didn't see yer still eating.' I understand this is a super popular Cafe and people were waiting outside to dine in,but seriously, who would ask their customers to leave when they only sat down for 30 minutes and still eating??!!!Very very disappointed. But to be fair, if you only gonna do take-away, 4 stars for the quality of food. Minus 1 stars for the service.

Bad coffee and worst service. First time there, ordered cappuccino for take away, was way too milky didnt taste like coffee at all so asked the Barista if I could have another coffee shot added in there, he said 15c, with which I was ok as that's no money, but maybe as an act of having a client happy could have explain that the cappuccino is very light usually and give it as an attention for a first time, when going to pay 15c turned 60c, told the lady at the counter they said 15c seconds ago.. anyways ended up paying what was I was told ofc for a bad coffee and bad attention. It's not about the money thing, but I guess I would have given the shot for free just to make the customer leave happy and return a second time. Wont be happening, sorry Place/ambience is nice.

I love this café so much! The one in Rosebery is my favourite. Being obsessed with lemon drizzle cake, I am always on the hunt to find yummy lemon cakes in cafes, markets etc. I'm from overseas and since moving here, I can't find anywhere that does a lemon drizzle cake like home. One day, I stumbled upon this café while on a walk, and saw in their cakes section that they sold slices of a lemon sponge cake. My eyes nearly fell out of my head haha I ordered the cake, and was sceptical at first as I have always been left down with the lemon cakes since moving to Aus. I will go as far as saying that this is the best lemon cake I have ever had in my life!!! The lady behind the counter (which could be the owner) advised that it is her mom's homemade recipe. Kudos to the lady who created this delicious recipe and THANK YOU for selling the best lemon cake in the world!!

I was in the area by coincident today and decided to grab a coffee for my bf while he waits for me. Large latte + croissant incl 1% surcharge were $9.30 I found this super reasonable and both coffee and croissant were spot on. I decided to come back later to grab a coffee for myself. I got a small double shot cap and it was perfect. I like my coffee strong so sometimes I would even get a small triple shot. Definitely not needed here. The blonde girl at the till was super friendly as well. She provides great customer service and was very attentive. :) Overall a pleasant visit. I gave 4/5 because the food menu didn't convince me. However, if you like sandwiches, wraps (lunch after 11.30am) for lunch, give it a go!

We decided to check out somewhere new for breakfast to share the love around and Sub Station in Rosebery did not disappoint. We were greeted by friendly, engaging staff (who were all too happy to wave back to our baby who was constantly waving at them), with menus and water promptly brought to our table. Coffee (by Single O) was on point, arrived quickly and food was delicious. I need to commend the staff too where even on a quiet morning they kept busy; straightening things, wiping surfaces and checking in. It showed too, with the place neat as a pin, super clean and just a really enjoyable space to brunch in. We will definitely be back.

So impressed with the food here. I had the station brekkie roll - crispy bacon, fried egg, avocado and spinach on a roll, very yum. My partner had the acai bowl, which she loved. By mistake I also ordered the latkes breakfast (thinking I was just ordering a side of latkes for my roll). This had scrambled eggs, latkes (sort of like a rosti) and haloumi which we shared, this was also delicious and my partner devoured most of this, so good and thankful for the mistake. Highly recommended!

The service is good, however for $40 worth of takeaway, the packing of the food needs improvement - needs better consideration no matter how busy on the customer experience of the food. example: If providing warm avo toast (2 slices) squished in one container, and cold salad with dressing on top - it's obviously going to get soggy and diminsh the taste fo the food that was well prepared in the kitchen. coffee also the most expensive in the neighborhood and didn't feel strong enough even with almond milk.

What a gem I found in Rosebery today… fantastic portions, beautifully presented, incredible staff… the choices of food to die for. I will be travelling From Gordon regularly to this spot and bringing all my friends along. Not too often that you find a spot like this in Sydney. What a find my people

Their coffee is so way good. So smooth, creamy and strong enough. The almond croissant is a must try. The almond part is different from other store with only sweety. Come in the morning and grabe a fresh croissant. As a cafe, an average score of 4.2 is way to low. I will say at least 4.6.

Really rude attitude, we followed the google reviews come here . So disappointed. The barista was busy with something else and ignored us waiting in front of the reception for 10 mins . After we took our 2 coffees ,we ask a tray for takeaway, the barista just thrown on the bench , just feel we like a beggar . No polite，No manners ，No respect. We kindly give the advice not thrown the stuff to the customers next time , it makes us feel bad , the barista even said ,”Go away , Do not come back again “

Saw a lot of comments about the services. Went to the cafe on a Saturday. Bad service, it seems like all the staff just hate being there. I felt bad even asking the staff a question because they looked annoyed. Coffee is average, the Reuben sandwich is pretty good. But overall it’s the service that makes me not want to come here again. This is good location opposite park and outdoor area. Have given it a try a few times but won’t be going there againas it’s dam annoying Staff just don’t think - leave your hot drink hanging around before taking it out. I was a regular here with a mate. Takeaway in thr glorious park opposite was a highlight of the week. However, despite multiple requests to have our coffee and cake at the same time, it rarely happened. Today was literally the icing on the cake. My buddy asked for the icing to be cut off as he doesn't eat it. We were told "do it yourself, I'll get you a knife" Again asked for them to do, then a flatout refusal as "the cake would look ugly" We won't be back.

Knowing this cafe is the addition to Substation Cafe Alexandria, their food is great, some pastries are even baked in-house (the biggest reason for me is that my daughter love their muffin and cakes, who is normally not a big fan of muffin), and always good coffee. The owner couple is always welcoming and smiling if they are there, lovely people to chat to. They are next to the park and dog-friendly, super convenient location for me to take the family too!

Absolute disappointment. We ordered what we believed to be 3 simple dishes with some slight amendments (fried egg well done, side of bacon). After the third attempt at bringing out the food they got it right, only to be disappointed with the taste. Waiting an hour for a breakfast (basically a bacon and egg roll, fried eggs on toast) we gave up. Would not recommend.

It's okay. It's not a horrible cafe and it's not an outstanding cafe, it's just okay. I kind of feel it's a bit overpriced for food and drinks that really aren't that special. However, the location is great just across the street from the park so that makes it a nice trip. But if you aren't in the park and can choose another place I would do just that and go somewhere else. There are a lot of wonderful places in the area.

Got the Labne zaatar eggs from sub-station which were only sub-par. Two eggs served with some badly seasoned chickpeas and bland cucumber on top of some Labne with some oil. Not enough flavour in the dish. Was not served with purple pickles as the photos would have you believe. Dish needs some garlic in the labne and maybe some herb infused oil.

Almost 25 min wait for a takeaway coffee. It's OK to be busy but you need to let your customers know when you expect there to be an unreasonable delay. And as you'd expect from a rush job, coffee was not good. Update a year later: thought I'd give them another go... Almost 15 min wait for a simple flat white this time. They weren't even busy? I don't get it...

I seen all the rave reviews an decided i had to try. In my opinion it was just okay. My 3 stars was for the following 1 star for the awesome service, 1 star for ambience and 1 star for the good coffee. Lacking 2 stars due to the food. I had the lakte it was just so bland and dry, at least the eggs were amazing . I would definitely go back for coffee and a pastry only.

Just dropped in to get a takeaway smoothie and was told by the girl at the register ‘sorry no more smoothies, because we’re too busy’. I’ve never seen or heard a cafe do this. Why have things on your menu that you can’t serve? It’s not like I asked for something complicated. Usually this place is great, so super surprised to have this happen.

Had an enjoyable brunch today at this little coffee shop. Place was clean, staff were really nice and helpful. I made my order at the counter, the counter staff and barista were so friendly and helping me to choose from the variety of food options. Coffee was served quick also the food. Definitely a place to revisit…good job team ❤️!!!

We used their catering service for a film shoot and not only were ALL the staff friendly and helpful, but the food and coffee was amazing! The ordering was made a breeze and the owner and Cafe members were flexible and happy to help with any request. 10/10 would use their catering services and go there again!

Food is a bit overpriced, coffee is average (sometimes good, sometimes burnt) and staff are pleasant. Their choice of music is really good however they play it way too loud such that I can’t even have a conversation or do any work.

A really nice spot for brunch with a little park nearby. Had the Reuben and wife had the B&E roll, both solid options but nothing mind blowing. Service was a little hit and miss but I think, since it’s so new, they just need to find their rhythm, we’ll definitely be back for sure

Great coffee by Single O, nicely prepared food and sandwiches, with lots of space for patrons. Opposite a good sized park as well so definitely worth stopping in and checking it out! Wish I had taken more photos, was too busy eating a delicious chicken sandwich!

Tried to find out what the soup of the day is on several different days only to be told everytime “we aren’t doing soup of the day today”. So why advertise it or make it an option to order it at all if you never have it? Frustrating

Popped back to the old hood and visited for a lunch. They were able to seat us at a fairly busy time and the service was friendly Enjoyed a Falafel Bowl and Chicken Bowl. Very tasty.

I’ve been going to Sub station for a while, but won’t be going back after today. A toasted vegetarian roll and small coffee cosy $18.90 take away, and over 10min wait for coffee. I know it’s tough times, but this is pretty crazy

Love how they put up the store and the direction they are going. The food are not your fancy hipster kind but simple food doesn’t mean they are bad. This is the place you have those simple food, good cuppa and relax!

Easy parking , great coffee but what really makes it special is the staff. Everyone greets you by name, remembers your orders and you can tell they are a unified and well oiled machine - best in Rosebery
