Updated review: We read the receipt and saw that they overcharged us more for a Christmas item, so we returned to the cashier with the shelf price tag to request for the price difference. The cashier did not know what to do so she asked the cashier behind her. They both seemed lost and another cashier arrived. Then our cashier came back to us and rang the bell multiple times. We waited for a long time. A guy finally walked towards us from the back slowly, staring into his cell, knowing we had waited for a long time. He appeared to be the manager and fixed the computer issue. He then departed without apologizing to us or looking at us. However, our cashier still could not process the refund. So the cashier behind her came to help her. That cashier did not give us the credit card receipt so we asked for it. Then she told us to sign on the credit card receipt without giving us the customer's copy. So we asked for it and she said we signed the wrong one. She pointed her finger to the receipts and demanded us to sign both receipts very rudely when it was her fault that she did not give us the correct receipts to sign. The receipts were very clear but she tried to confuse us by mixing them up. Also, she did not need to keep pointing her fingers to the receipts so rudely with her demands when all of this was her fault. This is human decency never mind customer service. They were obviously mad because they did not want to do the refund (they never apologized and they made us wait for so long). They were irritated because we caught their mistake. They blamed the customers for correcting their mistakes. Absolutely unacceptable. P.S The janitor came to sweep beside us when we tried to browse the Christmas items so we needed to move away. That means they did not want customers to shop for the Christmas items. Otherwise, the janitor could have sweep later. Overall, the staff were poorly trained. Check the surveillance camera and see how the staff and management treated us. Review: The pastry skin of the Winter Melon Cake was extremely thin which was surprising. The taste was inauthentic because the genuine winter melon cake does not have shredded coconut with the winter melon paste. Also, about half of the Walnut Pound Cake was walnuts. Usually, the walnuts in the pound cake consist of one third or one quarter of the pound cake. That means they did not want people to enjoy the cake portion. The butter taste was light and the cake texture was not dense. Furthermore, the Sponge Cake in the Paper Cup would be better if it had more egg taste. It is not traditional because the Sponge Cake is supposed to be wrapped in paper (hence the name of the item). Also, the shape is supposed to be different (like the ones at Anna's Cake House). Moreover, they had coconut milk as one of the ingredients on the label of the Steam Rice Cake, but it had no coconut milk in it. The Steam Rice Cake tasted normal but they did not list all of the conventional ingredients. They should not mislabel ingredients. Review: There was a mosquito flying inside the bag of the almond cranberry bun. It was shocking. How could the mosquito get inside the bag? Did the employee miss seeing the mosquito during their packaging? Review: When we went to the cashier, the cashier used her palm to hit the counter twice as a gesture for us to put our items down on the counter without greeting us and looking at us. It was rude. She should look at the customers and greet them and customers naturally would put their items on the counter. Also, she did not ask for my payment method; she just turned around and talked to the other cashier after she scanned our items. It was odd. Then she put the receipts down on the counter and mumbled something. She did not want to communicate with customers. There was no service.
It has been awhile since I've gone to city Square but I went to look for the Safeway and found Sungiven. It's a very nice and clean Asian market with a decent selection of western items (actually went to purchase hot dogs/wieners). It's not as large as say t&t however it makes it up with a very nice and friendly look and setup. They have a cooked section (though seemed slightly limited today probably relates to covid-19). Wide aisles for nice safe social distancing walking. All employees wearing masks and the standard shield. There are some items if you look where they seem to be priced quite competitively or even less expensive than other stores (lemon tea drink from Japan). Parking is also reimbursed after purchase which is nice. There is the P1 escalator right by the store, but if you parked on the other side, the one elevator that goes up to Kirin is a bit of a pain in the butt.
I like this place! Relatively smaller than T&T but somehow their selections are much to my preferred! Went there last Sat around noon, quiet and really, soooo neat and brightly lit! Hate those stores that use orange lights to hide the poorer quality of produce. Felt familiar the entire time browsing and putting items into my tray...ah ha, realized that it was similar to Trader’s Joe setup at checkout! ** Staffs were helpful and friendly! Prices, depends, but many are lower than others, considerably the location is in a mall! I gave 4* as it is still a small store with limited selections. Oh, big plus for endorsing 2hrs parking! Definitely one of my favourite stores now!
This grocery store situated in such convenient location! The store is clean and orderly. The layout is very nice, and we love to go there for fresh grocery. The store staff are well trained. They are friendly and super helpful whenever we are in need. It also provide free two hour parking in city square. Make sure you bring the parking ticket to get it scanned at checkout. The only downside is it’s small size and limited product variety. We still prefer T and T for full grocery run.
I was looking forward to its opening as Sungiven has been super popular in China with good market reputation. It has lived up to my expectation. Pleasant layout, hospitable staff, nice variety, and most importantly, high quality goods with competitive prices. I noticed that prices for some products are almost only half of that are sold in another famous Asian grocery chain stores. Highly recommended!
This store is located inside City Square. Plenty of underground parking. Sungiven Foods is located where the old Safeway used to be. Prices are a bit higher than other Asian supermarkets but there’s not many choices in the neighborhood. The supermarket is very clean and brightly lit. Aisles are wide and spacious unlike other Asian supermarkets.
sun Give Foods is a staple of this community. It provides a good amount of international offerings, fresh foods, premium produce and some mainstream commercial, packaged food. The store is clean and the staff always friendly. Prices are decent and the location is prime, for those that want to stay away from other, overcrowded grocery spaces.
They have a large selection of Asian based foods and more, and offer a large selection of health wise choices including organic items. Prices are moderate. Please be aware that often the fruit and veggie prices are marked per item (each piece) so customers may think it is per pound. Free timed parking with minimum purchase. #letsguide #covid
Great selection of various Asian cuisines, good fresh produce, cheapest oat milk in town and free 2 hr parking. Had a really nice experience with a cashier who packed my bags, even giving me one free to make sure it didn’t break on my way home. She also gave me a bag of Chinese chips to try as a promo because she thought I would like them!
