The "SUPER DISCOUNT STORE" or "MARKET," as the sign that is painted in great BIG red letters - which is present on the south side of the this particular store features - is a very large low-priced version of a huge "99 cent" or a "dollar store" HOWEVER, it is neither one of the latter two stores. The "SUPER DISCOUNT STORE" is stockpiled with 1000's of bargain priced items and some are even lower priced than I have seen at other competitive grocery stores, such as Grocery Outlet, Food 4 Less, etc. I bought a small broom - with a dustpan, a college ruled book of notebook paper and a 12oz. bottle of isopropyl alcohol ; I saved about $8, which I thought was just wonderful... The "SUPER DISCOUNT STORE" or "MARKET," has many many types/kinds of culinary products, household supplies, groceries, tools and other necessities that one might need for their apartment/house. It you are looking for anything simple, I honestly think that you could find whatever you were looking for at this store. It was also a might busy when I was there and the two men who were running the check out line, were very polite ; they knew some of their customers by name, which - in today's millennial generation - is often getting harder to find... Both the outside and the inside of the store were very clean. In fact, during the time that I was there, someone was sweeping all the wet leaves off of the outside sidewalk and also taking a dust mop to their floors. I'll be sure to return there, as there were a few things that I was running short on...

(The sign hours numerals were difficult to read since appears very faded.) The sign on building displays name, Super Discount Store; Google Place name displays name, Super Discount Market. I requested name/title change with Suggest Edit. Great variety of stock & types of items (more than most similar stores (discount) nearby in Downtown). Like a department store packed into a small space. So most available storage space is used, including shelves or stock stored up towards ceiling (so some items may be hard to reach or require ladder/steps to reach). I got ice cream. Blue Bunny, pint size, $3.99. (Lowest price I found nearby, since 7-11 drastically increased their price.) Food. I recommend check expiration date (the best before or by date), & if past date, then evaluate & decide if you want to risk buying & eating, or not. Some items may still be ok shortly after date, or small % beyond date or total shelf life period; safety can't be certain. (I requested Suggested Edit to the Google Place, moved Place map marker on building, near front entrance (marker was previously on nearby parking lot).)

These folks have great prices on certain items such as Crystal Geyser 1 gallon bottled water $1.29 and Kroger potato chips 8 ounce bags $.99. They also have great prices on some other items compared to national store chains in the area. However, they often get items in single shipments, so while the prices are very low on a particular item, once it is all sold, they may not get more of that item in stock for a while, and often they carry only one shipment of a particular item ever, so that once it is all sold, they will not likely carry it again, because they often buy odd lots and overstocks from other retailers and supply chains. So, go in, look around, and you will find great deals, but be prepared to buy as much as you think you might need all in one trip because it might not be available the next time you visit. They always have a large quantity of snack items, starting as low as 4 for a dollar, such as peanut butter and crackers single packs. I recommend this store to others, and if you are just want to browse and look at kitchen gadgets, pet supplies, school supplies, and household hardware, it is a great place to use up some of your free time or meet some of the locals.

they have everything,( ok I lied, ) but I have never seen a store that has so many things equal to a large store, you just gotta see it the believe itI have never seen a store that is jam packed with so many goodies and I am talking all the walls to the cieling, I would say it would take over a hour to see everything, I plan on bringing in some binoculars to see everything they have on the walls, I plan on going to this store many more times, and I will be letting other people know about it, oh yeah they safe guard your bags or back packs for you, where many other stores have the attitude we won't let you take your stuff with you but we ain't going to make a effort to keep it from being stolen, I have already found groceries cheaper than grocery stores, i highly recommend you take your time and really see the wide variety of stuff they got to go in a place you just moved into,

I've used the Super Discount Store on many occasions. The prices at this store run from Super cheap to reasonable to moderate - depending on the hot-ticket item that you may need. They have many bicycle accessories like lights,air pumps, wrenches and other useful tools for bike safety and repair. There are also many items for camping which are used by those on the streets to protect them from the elements of inclement weather = the cold, wind and rain we're experiencing now. Super Discount Store caters to many of the various denizens of the east village and its surroundings (Gaslamp, Little Italy, Bankers Hill) - including the many living on a fixed income and the homeless who find cheap food accessable. I recommend Super Discount Store to anyone looking for savings in their budget.

You have to watch out for expired food. I bought 2 3 Musketeers and they were 7 months expired and I got a bacteria infection through out my body. Caused abbesses and now I have enzyme and I have to watch what I eat now plus if I get a bad scratches, cuts or any kind of open wound I have to either go to urgent care or the em room to have it treated. It is a pain in you know what ( lol ). Most people don't know that expired chocolate has bacteria growing on the inside of it you can not it when the chocolate is all old and white that is all bacteria also cans that are 4-6 months expired you can get bacteria from that let alone its hazardous metal contamination so be careful

U have to check the dates on every food products. I got a really bad bacterial infection from two candy bars I bought there that was expired 6 months. Schedule an arrest even went in and told them and talk to the owner and show her the candy bars that was still on the shelf. She said it wasn't on them, That that's the way they were delivered. I asked where would they come from , Who delivered them. Did she have a phone number?? Can you get things that you don't remember which one they came from. I went back in there two days later, they were still on the shelf

This place is not the most appealing place to visit due to its location and the main customer base that frequents it.. However these customers may be homeless amongst some of the things working against this place, but if you can have open mind a little empathy and respect for everyone who hasn't disrespected you, then this is a store worth visiting. Their prices on almost everything like tools, bike locks, lights, air pumps etc are ridiculously inexpensive. Trust me it's a must see and a mistake to miss.

Pretty good discount store, that being said there's probably a lot of the snacks in there that are close to expectation date but if you don't mind that than it's a pretty good place to get some cheap snacks, there's usually something new to get every week and there's a good amount a variety of things you can get in here. There's also no ventilation so it can get hot In there and there's usually homeless hanging on outside or around the store but that's just how it is in downtown San Diego

Some really great finds to be had here, they have a little bit of everything at reasonable prices. You really can't beat a soldering iron for under 2 bucks, gadgets galore behind the register. From energy drinks and ice cream to toasters and tools and everything in between, it's amazing how much there is in the place. The guys that run the store are friendly and warm. Speaking of warm, my only caveat is it can get warm in the store on a hot day so dress appropriate and enjoy.

Super Discount brings me back to reality. The prices are so down to earth I wanna pinch myself. I love their products. It's the same brands from the other stores and grocery store. But cheaper, they don't ripp you off. Lots off different things they sell. Products I use everyday. Snacks, canned goods and more.. A diamond in the rough. Don't ever change Super Discount. You bring me up when I'm feeling down.. Sometimes you need to shop just to feel better. Ok. Hey Leo!

You know I go to the discount stores are on 8th Avenue they have the boost protein drinks and I have medical issues requiring me to drink I come a couple times a week to buy several cases at a time always always a pleasure having a sewing degrade you and belittle you I guess they forget where they they came this country is nothing just like my the matriarchies to run the show I don't know where she's at right now there's a much better place when she was there

Well not a lot of things for people close to the downtown area. Low income or well off people. But this place has a lot of things at cheap prices. But there some homeless around but they are all safe to be around. And just trying to get a good deal too. But if you need to know where things are in this city they're the ones that know. So don't be afraid to ask one out there. A some and change for coffee makes a friend out there...!:-)

I like this store and have been going here periodically since I moved to San Diego. I've saved so much money over the years dropping in when Im downtown to get random food items, some hygiene, and other basics that are in stock at the time. As with any discount store just check the exp.dates and grab generic alternatives to things like cleaning products and trash bags etc.and I promise you will save money monthly shopping here.

I really love this place, there's a little bit of everything! The staple food items are priced a tad higher than I'm willing to spend unless it's an immediate need but the discounted snacks, household and beauty items are a great value! The owner's keep the prices low and if that means checking my backpack (behind the counter and under watchful eyes, btw!) I have no problem. They are firm, but always helpful!

This store is a pretty good substitute to get me through my dollar tree sprees. This store is closer to my neighborhood than any of the dollar trees and since I have to use public transportation most of the time, this is just down the street from me, verses a 30 minute bus ride to the nearest dollar tree. This store has a great variety of items. Plus they have small kitchen appliances. Pretty cool store.

Prices are fair,a large variety of items, some for home maintenance, food products are very reasonably price,like Walmart prices,paper products, canned foods, dry goods,paper etc. It's worth the trip. I didn't see any product that were fresh,no butcher Every thing pre-packaged. May have bananas, grapes ,but I didn't check alot of inexpensive tools and misc.scews,nuts etc.

I could easily go broke there. Great stuff at affordable prices, knowledge and friendly staff. Most discount sties are sketchy and stuff is keys face it junk . Not here the stuff is great if you ever have an issue and your a regular customer they are willing to help you out or teach done kind of compromise. I literally ever hit the lottery one of my first stops.

Very rude owner great place if you need to get rid of stolen cell phones. They buy them daily hope do I know someone stoled mine and they saw my pics. Very very rude owner accuses people of taking something even work proof it was from another store. I'm going to make sure they get taken care of for burying stolen property.. don't go here is a bad business

Great store for convenience. You get what you pay for so consider all items mostly disposable or only good for a couple uses. Not a bad thing some situations call for those type of items and some stores can over price products that will only last for a single use and break or wear out. They have an OK selection of food items and also accept EBT.

I love this place been coming here for years great value and have good prices and deals for be a discount store even when im in there and dont really need anything with some of the deals going on i still leave with a full bag of items and compared to the other couple of stores like this one they are far above the compitition

A Polite Family. Very patient and unassuming. I've been going here for about 8 years. Yes, there are HUMAN BEINGS without homes who loiter, still doesn't change the fact that they are made in the image of God too, they are lost and need Jesus just as much as anyone. Located on the corner of 8th and C.This place has a nice variety of things.Stationary items,laundry soap,clothing items tools, personal hygiene items,sewing supplies and much more all reasonably priced. Inventory is constantly changing.They do carry a limited stock of food and soft drinks.Good place to save a few bucks

It had a lot of stuff that were totally great deals, but then they had (Appliances) and other items that were over priced and I could run down the and get the same items for $2-$12 less. This is the oddest and most random store I've ever been to. I love it! Most of the prices are GREAT (some so so) and you might want to check the expiry dates, but just know you'll spend more than you thought because you didn't know you needed *this thing* you weren't even shopping for!

I love this store. I haven't been recently but I would go to this store religiously on my grocery days first and get as many things on my shopping list out of the way as I could because the prices are so great compared to the big store's.

Some of the deals are pretty good , you have to really have to watch the expiration date on some food products, like for instance they have some peanut butter cookies that are 99 cent They had expired April 2018

I've bought so much from these guys ,even a used bike and used to not ask for your bag when entering,but they forgot me.i left,I don't leave my bag at any place.i didn't think they could make me by law ,but ok.

Easy walking from city college or 5th ave trolley. Many bargains. Nice staff. It's easy to spend more than I planned because I always seem to find that something I can't live without. I go at least every week.

If u buy any food items no matter what it is check the expiration date.. Found a can good that expired in 2016. It's not the store like it was when it was a 99 cent store.

Place doesn't have it all but it has enough! I can't get my cigarettes at any 7-11 in downtown! But this place has them and cheaper than any place that carries them!
