So this is the first time I had ever been to a Susie's Cakes. I like to stick with more local places but my husband found this one. I was having a hankering for a fantastic cup cake. He did some research on the inter webs and found Susie's Cakes on University. So we went. Let me also say I understand we are in a pandemic as well, so I was prepared to be selecting from a very minimal menu. I'm totally fine with that. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who helped us with our whole order. We got 4 cupcakes: red velvet, Double Vanilla and 2 Chocolate's (the husband's favorite). It was a little sticker shock for sure that 4 cupcakes cost $14.00. The taste over all was great. It was the appearance that was a HUGE let down. I would have been okay with that price if the appearance of the cupcakes were as fantastic as their taste. But these all were just normal sized cupcakes, with normal frosting SPREAD on top. Looked like something my daughters and myself would make in our own kitchen, well sorta, we like to go crazy on the frosting. These were for sure lacking. It looks like there was an attempt to put some filling inside the cupcake but it too was a poor attempt at best. Not was I was expecting for the price. Again the taste was great...just not visually appealing for the price to me.

Driving through Ft Worth and wanted something to take to celebration dinner; found bakery was nearby and was really disappointed. The bakery smells like butter, sugar and sweetness when you walk in but just like the website you will find no prices posted anywhere. I was shocked when 1 cookie and 6 cupcakes rang up for $23! Thought they must be the best cupcakes ever. We brought them out and everyone picked a flavor to try and we have to say all around they were disappointed. We agreed that although most frostings were supposed to be a different flavor (mint, strawberry, coconut) most tasted like vanilla frosting (or vanilla sprinkled with coconut). The cakes itself was also a disappointment. All of the cakes MUST be either basic chocolate or vanilla as they had no additional flavor. Bland, dry and overall just disappointed. We won’t be back and can’t recommend it.

My husband and I stopped by this place after a lunch date today to pick up some sweets for the afternoon. I picked up some whoppie pies for the kids, a couple chocolate chip cookies for my husband, a strawberry rose cupcake and a slice of chocolate cake. The menu was limited so they only had cc cookies but we jst went with it bc who doesnt like a good cc cookie. They were large, soft and were not bad. The whoopie pies were ok the kids liked them. The cupcake was moist but had some lumpy stuff in the middle that messed it up. I would love to tell you how the cake tasted but once we got home we discovered it was given to us despite having paid for it. Needless to say I wasnt very happy as none of this stuff is really cheap. But for sure if I pay for something I expect to get it. So that just kinda ruined it for me.

Ordered a vanilla celebration cake and a lemon cake slice. The staff were extremely kind & they even threw in a coconut cupcake when I expressed interest in trying one. Very big slices which was expected for nearly $8 a slice. Overall, these cakes aren’t for us and I doubt if we return. As someone who enjoys more CAKE than icing, I found the cake too sweet & dense & the slices way too thin. There was also a weird cornbread consistency & the icing far too sweet. Fluffy, less dense cake is our preference. The lemon curd in between the layers of the lemon slice was very overpowering & took away from the cake, as well. I couldn’t enjoy more than a bite of either one. Surprisingly, the coconut cupcake was the best of the three. If you enjoy dense, “cornbready” cake with a lot of icing, this may be for you.

Want a pleasant experience with pastries all over again! Reminisce your childhood all at once but with a hint of sophistication, with modern society leaning more into Keto diets, veganism, etc. we tend to forget that ultimately life is shorten by age, circumstances and most importantly borrowed time. Eating a piece of cake or even a small cupcake which is always fun, helps us realize that it’s ok to enjoy a quality pastry from Susie’s cakes. Not only is it beyond clean for my OCD expectation but there’s passion behind these bakers and what really happens when they place these pastries in the oven for the perfect time and heat temperature, it is in this very moment where 5 minutes were spent making a memory and most importantly enjoying the little things in life.

I had gotten cupcakes yesterday for my birthday using a gift card that I had won in a raffle. We went in picked out the cupcakes that look divine. The chocolate and banana were very moist however the lemon cupcake coconut cupcake and strawberry cupcakes for very very dry. I don't know if they had been slightly over baked or just a little bit older than the others. The saving Grace for the cupcakes was the fabulous icing. The lemon, coconut and white cupcakes tasted very similar with most of the flavoring in the frosting. I don't know that I would spend the money on the cupcakes. However we tried samples of the German chocolate cake and carrot cake while waiting on the cupcakes and they seemed very moist and delicious.

i have come to this location often for cakes for parties/events or just to personally indulge!! Brea is the number one sweetest employee at this SuzieCakes location!!! the summer berry cake is my absolute favorite, i get it every time i come here for me. anyone who has written a bad review about this particular cake, has never been a strawberry connoisseur like myself. the way they use FRESH berries every day and don’t over sweeten the whipped icing, is absolutely DELECTABLE!!! the consistency of the cake is as expected, thick enough to feel like cake (not bread), but fluffy enough to see every beautiful strawberry inside. would strongly recommend choosing this business for any amazing desserts!!

Service was good, staff friendly. Store was cute. Very disappointed though and not impressed with the displays. Cakes were all lopsided, uneven & the frosting looked haphazardly slapped on. Cupcakes were not pleasing either with frosting hanging off the sides and appearing to be slapped on in a hurry. A Halloween cookie tray was cute but overpriced at $65 for 3 dz cookies. But can't judge a book by its cover, so I bought a mini cupcake for $2. The employee put the cupcake in a bag. By the time I got back to the office it was all stuck to the inside of the back. So they might want to use little boxes instead. The frosting was very good but cake stuck to the wrapper, was very dry and heavy & dry.

I get goose bumps every time I walk thru their door! I mean...Just look at those pics! The place has high ceilings, lots of light, clean and open displays that place the bounty front stage. WOW! You just can't help but smile as you anticipate your choices of the day. Those darn cookies and cupcakes will distract you for sure. Stay focused though... Constraint is key here....Today, I chose TWO slices of cake! Lemon and Chocolate! Nice large sizes, super fresh, and the flavors never disappoint. With plenty of frosting too, oh yeah the price point will get your attention...but hey...it's CAKE, so it's ok. Have fun! Oh, parking can be a challenge, so have some patience here.

Got the berry cake, waste of money cost me almost 20 dollars for 2 small bowls filled with bland whipped cream bitter strawberries and barely any cake. This is supposed to be a cake slice but it’s not and the size of the bowl can not hold a full cake squished the way they have it and there’s really not much cake in it. I like the cake slices they used to have with the strawberries and blueberries it was delicious and full of flavor. I do not know what happened but I do not like the strawberry bowl. Highly disappointed and I do not recommend. MONEY WASTED!!!! I have pictures but will not let me post smh

So cupcakes are way overpriced, but no one is forcing me to buy... ;) They are soooo good, my favorite is the red velvet and second is the chocolate on chocolate. You can’t go wrong with anything though. Service is quick and staff is friendly. Choices are wide and packaging it nicely done especially if purchasing as a gift. I dont like when places like this that have pricey product and have to do so little woth regards to service solicit tips. We’re paying for the service with the price of the cupcake. Seems like everyone everywhere, even those with non-waiter pay ask for tips for doing their job.

This evening, I wandered into your store to get a cupcake for my mom. She had a double mastectomy early, early this morning.  She was feeling good and just wanted something sweet. By the time I got to your store, I was spent, emotionally and physically. Your sweet girls, Jackie in particular, took such good care of me. Not only did they make sure I got the cupcakes I wanted, Jackie gave us a special piece of chocolate cake, with pink sprinkles in honor of my mom's battle against breast cancer. The Thomas girls won't soon forget the kindness of Susie Cakes in Fort Worth!

Our first time at this location was yesterday just after eating next door at HG Supply Co and we were in heaven. We ordered a Flourless Chocolate Cupcake, a Red Velvet Cupcake, a Pumpkin Maple Cupcake, a slice of Carrot Cake, and a slice of the Red Velvet Cake. The cakes were delicious, the buttercream was phenomenal, and the presentation was on point. The two ladies who helped us (wish I had asked their names) were absolutely friendly, made us laugh and made our experience so wonderful. We will certainly be back!! We have more to taste test

Couldn't be more disappointed with the cake I purchased. I purchased a 6 layer chocolate cake with Susie Deco Blue ombre icing. What I received was some incredibly dense (perhaps frozen?) confetti cake with blue icing. The cake was not the right flavor nor was it fluffy and moist. For the price I paid, 100.00, I would have expected some type of quality control, or at the very least a double check of the order on their part. I did get a full refund, but it doesn't help that the Birthday get together was ruined on the day of. Will never be back.

Yes to SusieCakes! My family and I went in for the first time the other day and tried the chocolate with sprinkles, coconut, and the chocolate with the white buttercream frosting I believe. These cupcakes were Incredible! They were gone within minutes : ) Oh, and their chocolate chip cookie is probably the best any of us have ever had! Soft and empty chocolate chips and perfect. Amazing customer service! Matthew helped us from beginning to end and he was super friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!

Meh. I think the place is overpriced. I order some cupcakes and a lemon bar. I am giving 2 stars because the lemon bar was amazing. However, the cupcakes was okay, and way overpriced. Paid 11 bucks for 2 cupcakes and a lemon bar. Really? Central market has better flavors and better price for this. I do admit, the place inside is pretty but I would not recommend the cupcakes over there. I was sort of disappointment because I make better cupcake at home and yes, its from the scratch.

I received a lemon cake for my birthday this past Friday. It was so tart I couldnt not even eat it. I was so disappointed we had the throw the whole cake away as many people said it wasnt good. Ive had the lemon cake before thats why I requested again this year but lemon tang to sweet ration was such a great contrast you couldnt even really taste the actual cake and it wasnt a good cake at all. Very pretty, but the taste was not good.

Update: Moved back to town a week ago and stopped by for another piece of the marble cake, and it is still the best thing on this planet. Plus, the employees are so sweet!! Stopped in earlier today just to see if they had anything that caught my eye, and I ended up getting a slice of the marble cake. It’s probably the best cake I’ve ever had in my life, no exaggeration. I actually inhaled that cake slice in under 3 minutes.

First trip to the store was a disappointment. The store was cute and the workers were very nice but my strawberry cupcake was very dry. It was actually a vanilla cupcake with a hint of strawberry in the icing. My husband got his favorite, a slice of German chocolate cake. He did not even finish it. It was also very dry. In my opinion, these were old and had been sitting out for days. Sadly, we will not be back.

Items are expensive, but we usually go for special occasions. First off, the employees are welcoming and professional, and oh-so-friendly! Being made to feel like a valued customer is half the experience. The daily free sample was whoopie pie. We stopped by for a red velvet cupcake and a slice of carrot cake. My husband was pleased that they cut his slice from a whole cake! It was very good.

SusieCakes have a great variety of bautiful and delicious cake! The store is clean, bright, elegant and the smell is very pleasant, the displays are very attractive especially the customized cake. The staff is very friendly and I say the service is excellent. I ordered a dozen assorted cupcakes and my family loves it when I brought it home. I will try the customized cake someday.

Went to nothing Bundt cakes instead at 5:07. Love it. got the wife the lemon cake. it was awesome. great staff. friendly. price seems a little high but it was fantastic.

Holy Moses the molasses cookies! Big enough to share but we didn't; ) The gluten-free cupcake was moist, and perfectly iced, not too much not too little just right. The key lime pie was just okay skip it and get your citrus fix with either their luscious lemon cheesecake or their lemon cake both were pucker perfect...tart, sweet, creamy bliss...

We had the pleasure of meeting Noel when we were in Fort Worth and she was such a delight! She treated us like family and as if we had known her our entire lives. The cake was phenomenal but having an employee like Noel made our day even sweeter! SusieCakes will have our business! Thank you Noel. You were the highlight of our weekend!

Stopped in for a pre-wedding tasting with my daugther and her fiance. Service was unbelievable and the cakes were just as awesome! So refreshing to be served by people that are happy and actually care about their customers now days! Extra shout out to Brianna, who went above and beyond to make our visit special! We ordered my daughters smash cake from there upon tasting their delicious cupcakes. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the cake still seemed hard even though they asked for the time it would be served by. The cake was hard and therefore she couldn’t really smash into it, needless to say I was a little disappointed.

This little shop is such a treasure! I had to run into Warby Parker and we saw this shop in the corner and figured we'd check it out. I ended up getting some banana pudding and it was AMAZING. Everyone is super sweet and helpful also. I love that you can even buy the cake by the slice. I can't wait to go back here!

This place restored my faith in cupcakes! It's been forever since I've had a moist, flavorful cupcake - I'd all but given up until I wandered in after a stop at the spa next door. The kind baker made my day with her excellent customer care, and the Halloween-themed chocolate cupcakes were simply divine!

It wasn’t for me. I will start by saying the location and the presentation of the shop and the display of the pastries were really nice. The cakes itself was not good. I had the red velvet and lemon cupcakes, the icing was heavy and too sweet, the cake was dry like cornbread and crumbled like one.

Picked up a dozen cupcakes for a birthday party and was super pleased. We dropped by a couple of days early and they wrapped our box in plastic wrap to keep everything from drying out before we needed them. From the standard cupcakes to their flourless versions, everything was delicious!

This is my go-to space for sweets in DFW. Staff is amazing and so helpful. So many delicious treats to try, and the cake slices are huge! You can also see the nutritional information online per slice. I personally do not think the cake slices are overpriced! You get what you pay for!

Absolutely love their cakes! My favorite is the homemade Carrot Cake! Lots of nuts, raisins and fresh ingredients throughout! The icing is delicious! My daughter is the chocolate fan and loves the chocolate cake! Very clean and friendly. Fast service. Also, great birthday cakes too.

First learned of Susie Cakes at a New Year party in Houston! Had a delicious marble cake. Came back home to Fort Worth and immediately ordered the 9” Lucious Lemon for a birthday party. It was so scrumptious. Picking up another one for a different event today! Love this place.

Used be very top notch when they opened. But lately something is different in the taste with their carrot and lemon cakes. Can't describe it other than they just don't have that unique great taste that made me rank them as the best ever. Their slices have gotten smaller too.

First time at this establishment. The staff was friendly and helpful while trying to figure out what we wanted. They offered samples. Many flavors. We bought 4 slices of cake. It wasn't very expensive. They tasted great. We will definitely be back for more.

The friendliest staff ever! When a storm hit the other day they welcomed us in the store even though the power was out. They treated us very well when the restaurants (HG and BarTaco) told us to leave. Very classy and we’ll be back to buy lots of treats!

The Summer Berry cake is seriously so delectable, it’s akin to sinning that it’s so good. The coconut cake was also pretty good. As with other SusieCakes locations, the employees are always so chipper. I’ll be back for another Summer Berry cake.

The cakes were phenomenal, but unfortunately they are not veteran family friendly. I presented my husbands military ID along with my License and they were unable to give us a discount. Because of this we probably will not visit again.

Everything I have tried here has been absolutely phenomenal. I have been getting birthday cakes from here as well and won’t go anywhere else. I highly recommend coming here and trying a little of everything. You won’t be disappointed!

We ordered 4 slices of cake - red velvet, lemon, carrot, and vanilla celebration. They all were incredibly dry with a heavy coarse texture. I love icing, but the quality and the extreme sweetness completely overpowered the cake.

We ordered 6 cupcakes and they were all delicious!! Yes, they cost a little more but that's because it's a stand alone bakery. We really enjoyed all of the flavors and the frosting were creamy. Definitely will come back again.

I had a Red Velvet Cupcake (by far the best red velvet I've Had), a Peanut Butter Cupcake that was very moist and delicious, and a slice of German Chocolate Cake that's to die for. I will definitely be a returning customer!

The carrot cake is fresh, not overly mixed, then baked to perfection. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. All other carrot cakes now pale in comparison.
