I was living in Sydney for a short period of time and booked into see Dr Yu and the staff at Sydney spine and pain assured me that they could perform the procedure I required if Dr Yu deemed it necessary. I travelled quite some distance and on arrival, I first saw the nurse and was informed that the procedure could only be performed under general anesthetic and that it could not happen today but I said I would still like to see Dr Yu and be open to any services he could offer. I then went into see Dr Yu and he gave me no more than 5 minutes of his time, did not care for my history or even do an assessment. He explained to me that I would have to come back to do the procedure or to ‘take this medication and come back’. He had not listened to me at all as I had mentioned multiple times that I would be leaving Sydney soon and unable to return. I then couldn’t hold back my frustration with my medical condition and begun crying. I was then directed to the reception and charged $400. I was not even offered a tissue and did not receive one bit of care for the entire time I was at Sydney spine and pain.

To date I have had three separate procedures with Sydney Spine and Pain including nerve blocks and ablations. It is very obvious from the start Dr Yu is very intelligent and good at what he does. Some people may find him to direct however I quite like his no bullcrap approach. I have had some improvements from the procedures for my chronic back pain the most recent one is too early to tell however. All 3 surgery's were conducted at Waratah hospital, my first two precedures I had ridiculous waiting times, told to get there at 8am only to have surgery at 1.30pm which was disappointing as I explained its a 2 and a half hr drive each way. I dont know if this is a let down regarding the hospital or Dr Yu taking on to much work. Although my last experience was great, told to get there at 840am, I wasnt to fussed getting there exactly on time regarding last experiences, arrived 855am was checked and surgery completed by 10am. I will add the waratah hospital staff are excellent, no drama there.

I spoke with Michael prior to my consultation he was a very pleasant gentleman. I then had a consultation with Dr Yu. who was very helpful and showed complete interest when listening to me regarding my pain and discomfort. He fully explained what problems I had and to my relief spoke about how he could reduce my pain. I have a procedure and I believe to date it has been 75% successful. I have a follow up with Dr Yu and am sure he will advise me further regarding my remaining pain. I would recommend this service to anyone suffering with spinal pain, there is help for you, just make the call. Thank you so much Dr Yu.

I am extremely grateful to Doctor Benjamin Teo for his kind caring and exemplary manner. After my work injury I've attended many doctors for my pain and problems in the past five years which I have to say Dr.Teo have been one of the most caring and knowledgeable doctors I've been treated by. He allowed me to tell him about my problems. Dr.Teo have been excellent, he spend adequate time to reviewing all reports, checking all the tests X-rays, MRI scans very carefully before making any decisions towards my treatment and explaining. We work together to come up with the best solutions for my pain. Dr Yu performed a right sacral plexus block block with pulsed radio frequency neurotomy plus injections to the right bursa and iliotibial band. Pain greatly reduced the next day. Will be continuing rehab in the gym and continuing with my sporting pursuits. Thank you Dr Yu.
