As someone with very little choice and a late round offer, SUV was the only place I could get residence before semester started. The staff are friendly and approachable and I get the sense they genuinely care about the residents. However the price that you are paying for rent is ridiculous ($420 per week) for a 5 bedroom setup has one fridge that barely fits the groceries of 2-3 people let alone 5 and with no dishwasher. The bathrooms and showers are very poorly designed, with the showers regularly leaking onto the whole floor of the bathroom with no proper drainage in any of the bathrooms leading to slippery and messy floors (a slipping hazard). The whole place is not air conditioned, with the fans in rooms being wholly inadequate to deal with a Sydney summer. If you want to bring your own air cooler, the windows have screens that don't allow vents to be placed out the window. There are frequent pest infestation like cockroaches that invade the bathrooms and kitchens. Worst of all there are no attached laundry facilities onsite or in rooms. The only nearby laundromat is $8 to wash and dry one small load of clothes, so if you want to wash a big load that's $16 just to do 2 loads of laundry. The only plus I can give is its proximity to campus. If you want to stay on campus, go to a residential college, because they have much better facilities that are much better maintained with food included that works out to what you pay in groceries anyway, laundromat services libraries and overall a better experience at roughly the same cost.

If you are looking for a student type life, look somewhere else. Sydney University Village is a ghost town, devoid of any type of student life. The curfew on weekends is too early. The place is clearly trying to cater more to the less social students. Reception staff is unwilling to extend themselves further than they have to unless someone higher up instructed them to, it seems like the staff simply don't care. A few of the staff are not well trained with the system they are using anyways. It is overly priced for what you get. I stayed in a studio without a kitchen that was meant for disabled students. The room was located on the 7th floor and the nearest kitchen was in another building. I can imagine it would be extremely difficult for someone with disabilities to live in such a room. In another flat I stayed in, there was a cockroach problem that just kept on coming back and needed better dealing with - but was not. They get two stars because I did make good connections with other students and the location is pretty close to Uni. Aside from that, I advise looking somewhere else.

the Village is neither a five-star hotel nor an unliveable dump. But it is uni student housing. You really can't set your expectations too high as some people seem to do. Maybe there is a crack in your bedroom wall but that's just superficial damage and won't make the room any less liveable. Generally it's a pretty nice place to live. The RAs are all friendly, the public spaces are kept clean, they host lots of fun free events. There are things that are less great about it too like the leaf-blower that is definitely on for way too long every Tuesday morning and the sometimes messy state of your kitchen when you move in depending on who your roommates are. I think mostly the village is what you make of it; if you choose to stay holed up in your room and find things to complain about you'll probably find them. But if you try to live your uni life to the fullest not worrying so much about those things it'll go fine.

Former UNSW village resident 5 stars for staffs, thank you Chris, Daniel and Kelvin in the past two years for generous helping me out with all the kind stuffs. 3 star for the room, poorly designed studio, one of my dude lives in a room where he can’t turn off the light in the living room while he pays more than 600. Price is getting extremely high in 2024, even if considering a dorm near the uni, there’s much more valued place around uni. The only reason I moved out was the price was 100 higher than last year. Most of the staffs you see are students, most of them are friendly, weekly events are awesome. Laundry is a public space out of the village, at public price while most of other student accommodation have way lower cost. Network constantly pause a second for no reason. All the bills are included so bonus for that. Enjoy your life here and hopefully make some friends.

Worst student accomodation. Do not come here. Truly. The rooms aren't heated. Which means if there's 10 degrees outside, it's pretty much 10 degrees inside. You'll be dining in your jacket and cap. They claim to be a diversified, international accomodation, however, 9/10 international students come from China. Most employees are from China too. No good events either. They recently increased the rent by $200 a month due to so much Chinese demand. If you're paying with an international card, you'll be charged outrageous payment fees.

Good place for students. - The village is located at a prime location in Newtown with all the cafes and shops at only a few minutes walking distance, it is also very close to Sydney University. - The rooms are quite clean with all the basic amenities. - The common areas in the apartments and in the village are a great place to relax and catch-up with friends. - The social events run by the village management are great for meeting new people. Personally, I love the green foliage around the village and the friendly staff.

Not a good place for long-term living. No air-conditioner for summer and the window can only be opened to a small angle so that little fresh air can come in. The wall cannot block the noise from some crazy roommates who even make loud music at 5 am. The staffs are okay and helpful in most times. Its not convenient to use city trains from Mcd or Newtown Stations(for people carrying luggage cases) while the bus service is frequent but crowded.

Stayed in a studio room with kitchen for 2.5 years. Overall decent experience. Pros: close to uni, lots of cafes/bars around the area, good internet (I lived in the admin building) Cons: bad sound insulation (pray you have good neighbours), loud parties during exam period despite village rules, cockroaches, newtown can get dodgy at night especially friday nights & over the weekend (drunkards/fights etc)

This place should be condemned. It's like living in prison. Facilities are broken. Cheap furniture gave me early onset arthritis. Pathetic internet allowance means you are guaranteed to go over every month and have to pay extra. It's disgusting that a place like this exists.
