The staff were very nice and the game, Death Note, was okay at best. Pros for the game were the nice setup of the room and atmosphere, and the game master was really nice before and during the game. A few points that detracted from the experience: The store prompted me for a tip (ranging from 10% to 20% of the remaining payment...on top of HST) when I was asked to pay for the remainder of the reservation, which was within a minute of me entering the storefront (so not even having played the game yet). This took me aback, as this was not disclosed on the website booking page, and led me to wonder whether if a person didn’t tip or didn’t tip a “good amount” whether the staff would treat them differently this time around or next time around (as repeat customers). I tipped 10% and the staff member then kindly got me a cup of water when I requested one. But if I hadn’t tipped, would the staff have insisted I buy the bottles of water for sale instead? Without wading into the debate or whether a tip or not is warranted, why put any potential/perceived pressure on the customer to tip BEFORE the game has even started (when the staff haven't rendered any service yet besides asking me to pay)? Do the tips even go to the staff? Why am I being asked to tip on HST when HST is presumably being remitted to the government? I agree with the critical reviews here of Death Note. I have done a number of escape rooms in Toronto and other cities, and this one was below average to me for the following reasons: - This one has a minimalistic feel, which is fine but then every clue should count. However, there were a number of red herrings which proceeded to take up unwanted brain space (and time), including some objects that came out of another item which were not required to be used (even though they seemed like they would be needed at some point). - Some of the reasoning was obtuse / farfetched and required great attention to detail not seen in typical escape rooms (if your eyesight in darkened rooms isn't great, for example, one of the solutions will not be obvious without getting a hint from the game master). - One of the clues necessary to finish the game was apparently obvious if we took a certain action, but if that’s the case, they should disclose that prior to the game. - The only options to hold up “failed” or “succeed” signs at the end of the game for the team photo are rather stark. Why not have other fun signs like “I tried” or “Teamwork FTW” for example…something that focuses on the effort and experience, and not just the outcome. Especially given the low success rate for the Death Note room (reportedly around 7-20% from what I gather). I do not know if I would return to try the other games. I recommend Looking Glass Adventures if you’re in the Toronto area - that to me is still the king of universally appealing escape rooms that successfully balance challenging your mind with reasoning that makes sense, plus super kind staff and no tip prompting (love Walden's Wizarding Shop). I also enjoyed The Lost Treasure at Enigma Escape rooms for two people who are just dipping their toes into escape rooms - great staff and no tip prompting. The pricing is a bit higher at both places, but it’s also transparent.
We did Medieval Prison and there were 8 of us ranging in ages from 7 years old to 60+ and we all had fun! My 7 year old niece was a little scared at first because the room was a bit dark but she got into it after a while. It was great that we were given a walkie talkie because it allowed my niece to have more of a role to play (she got to ask for hints or how much time we had left) since the clues were a little hard for her to solve. The staff were really nice and they were patient when my niece kept asking how much time was left lol. I also like that they only ask for a $56 deposit instead of having to pay the full fee right away. Had an experience at another escape room where we had paid the full fee but almost had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, and since it was less than 48 hours notice, we couldn't get a refund (understandable but still unfortunate). Luckily we were able to sort things out and were able to go after all. Other pros: - They charge a lower fee for children. - All rooms are private. Maybe all escape rooms do this now but a few years ago we went to an escape room that would allow other people to join you in the room if you didn't fill the max capacity with the number of people in your group (or you have to pay for the other spaces so that no one else could join).
Did most of them so far. The latest was the medieval times. Been very disappointed each time. The latest one we received 0 explanation of what the story/background is, just got throw in, and finished with a-lot of time to spare (over 15 minutes). We literally had first timers with us, so it wasn't that "we had experience" but rather it was just a very uneventful and felt like it was meant for VERY young kids. As for other ones, we had one room where we spent 20 minutes trying to solve a section, only to later find out that the item "glitched" and it was already solved from before. The staff said they saw it happen...when asked why they didn't tell us instead of make us waste time, they just shrugged. In another room the staff told us "DO NOT MOVE ANYTHING FROM THE WALLS". 6 people heard it...a main part of the puzzle was behind something on the wall.... also wasted a good 20 minutes. So yea, overall both the staff experience and the room qualities have been underwhelming IMO. Clearly kept coming back hoping for a different outcome, but I will not come back for the last 2 rooms or recommend anyone to come here for an escape room.
Our office team had a great time solving the Medieval Prison escape room at Trapped. This was their first time here while it's been my third time. We got settled in very promptly and the Medieval Prison is quite the setup. Lots of mixed puzzles and variety of problem solving techniques to use and quite an elaborate setup I may add that presents a near-authentic experience. Love the ambient sounds too! Sadie and Clara who attended to us were fantastic! They have excellent customer service and attended to us with delight and humor. We were very warmly welcomed and prepped nicely. Thank you for the experience! My colleagues and I are definitely coming back! By the way, we escaped in 40 minutes! Just saying. The experience felt so real that when we left and heard police sirens in the neighborhood we were scared that they were chasing us after having escaped from prison! Sadie's humor has clearly rubbed off on us!
We visited Trapped to complete the Death Note escape room without even reading what that entails. There are lockers available (free of charge) so you may leave your belongings while you play. The space is fairly large with multiple rooms. When we arrived, we were provided some instructions on how to use our props. Upon entering the room, I was surprised to see it was much smaller than anticipated. Without giving too much away, it was a fun challenge, we did have to ask for assistance a few times as it was hard to determine the chronological order to escape. We did manage to escape just on time. Overall, it was a good time, I would definitely return to check the other rooms.
A group of 4 of us visited Trapped to complete the room called "Room 057". The staff member that was assisting us was great and super friendly. He was very thorough in explaining the rules and giving us any helpful information needed prior to starting the room. There are also free lockers available so that you can leave your belongings while you play - note, that you will not be allowed to bring your phone into the room. This room was extremely fun and we really enjoyed it. It involved lots of teamwork and thinking outside of the box. We were able to complete the room in about 45/50mins with only using 2 hints. We will definitely be returning to complete another room.
We tried the death note room and the ancient pyramid room. Positives: the staff were nice, they gave us some extra time since no one was booked after us. If it's your birthday or 3+/- days they give the birthday person free admission. Negatives: in the death note room we felt like the music was too loud and we weren't told if it could be turned down. In the ancient pyramid room we had two dimly lit lanterns and my entire group complained the room was way too dark. Overall, we did not have the greatest experience and probably do not plan to try the others.
This was the first escape room that I have enjoyed! Being fairly new to the escape room concept, we did the mideival prison room, and though there are definitely some challenging challenges, it was just overall fantastic! Looking forward to returning to do the other rooms. The staff are super friendly & the decor not just of the room, but the whole place, was fun & welcoming! A very special thank you to Alexander for taking care of us! This may have only been my 3rd escape room that I’ve done, but it was the FIRST one that I enjoyed!
My family and I came to this escape room very last minute. We decided early that morning. But boy were we surprised. It was so much fun, it was difficult but not too difficult for us to enjoy it. Clara was our games master. She was polite and kept good energy when getting us excited for the room. Whenever we needed help she explained nicely and easy to understand. It was a great experience, I will definitely be coming back.
Sorry about the late review, just remembered to write it... My son had a great time with his friends on his thirteenth birthday! The staff were very helpful and understanding. We did the Medieval Prison themed room, and let me tell you, it was a blast! The room was neat and tidy, the puzzles were moderately hard, and the devices worked very well. I am definitely going to come again to try a new theme! Thanks Trapped!
Excellent room. We played at different places before, and we call agreed Trapped has the best experience. We played Room 057. Not a big room, but enough puzzles to keep you thinking. Lots of tool interactions and "technology" based puzzles. The front area is clean and spaceous. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again for the rest of the rooms, and visit the other locations as well.
Our friends took us for my wife's birthday and we had so much fun with Room 057 we decided to play another one. They even let us bring our 1 year old in (it was safe and even he had a great time). Our games master was Salma and she was great. She explained everything clearly and she was very attentive to any questions we had. We will be sure to come back again!
TRAPPED Mississauga Escape Room delivers an unforgettable experience! From the immersive atmosphere to clever puzzles, this place is a must-visit. Friendly staff, perfect difficulty level, and exceptional attention to detail. Highly recommended for an exciting time with friends or team-building. Can't wait to return and conquer more rooms!
Hosted our son's party here and it was great. The place is nice and spacious. Party Room is pretty decorated so don't need to bring anything. Party package came with pizza and drinks which was very economical. Game was challenging and enjoyable. Staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating! We will be back to try the other rooms.
We did 057 on dear husband's birthday. Got out 55 minutes with two hints used. My thoughts? It's difficult. But we got some brains, and everyone played an important part to fill all puzzles together. Team work, team work, team work. Thank you, the room design us well thought, fun and you definitely need to think, a lot.
Great escape room in Mississauga. Probably a bit more on the difficult side compared to others like Escape From The 6ix. The rooms are a bit more compact but have a lot of different things that you have to solve. Overall very friendly staff and great quality rooms. Would recommend for any other escape room enthusiasts
Such a great escape room. Probably the best escape room I have ever been to. The rooms really make you think you are actually in that place. The puzzles are hard to figure out but lots of fun to do. I really recommend this to anyone that wants to have lots of fun. Definitely coming here again.
Friendly, helpful staff. Bright, comfy lobby. Good story line for 'Death Note' but could use better flashlights. (While I'm sure that's part of the challenge, It makes it more frustrating then challenging/fun). We will try one of their other rooms for sure. Good membership program too.
Went there for a friend's birthday party, the service was great and the escape room was challenging but not impossible! We did have to ask for several hints, despite us initially saying we would never. Overall great experience, I'm looking forward to trying some of their other rooms!
The place is good and the rooms are good too however, one will find it difficult to solve the mysteries due to lack of instructions. Overall it’s a good experience but you need some help solving the mysteries. Make sure to watch interstellar, tenet and Inception before coming here.
There were 2 parts in our room that I'm not sure many people would have concluded, 1 for sure. Nice having unlimited hints. They happily let us start early since we were there early and the room was available. Lots of space in the room (actually 2 rooms) for our group of 5 people!
My friends and I came here as a group of 3 for Room 057. It was amazing and our facilitator, Zara made our visit even better! She made the experience so smooth and entertaining and she eagerly congratulated us on our win when we were done. Will definitely come and visit again :)
Had a great time at Trapped. We tried their hardest puzzle and indeed it was hard, but super fun! Totally recommend going. The game masters were great and knowledgeable+ super helpful! Definitely recommend chaos effect!! I went at 3:45pm - Thanks Michelle for Game Master-ing!
A massive thank you to Ms. Nafisa! We did the Pyramid Curse Room and she was super lovely, professional and helpful. You are an asset to your company young lady. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and we will definitely come back because of our positive experience.
Went with my cousin, it was her birthday yesterday so she got a free play. Since it was just the two of us, we could only choose "death note" Everyone working there was super friendly and nice. Our first escape room we managed to completely "escape", had a great time!
Neat facility, very helpful and friendly staff. Lockers are included to store your electronics. I did Death Note with a group of five and we had a lot of fun; winning with just a few seconds left. Would definitely come back and do another room
People were nice. Challenge was fair. Game was fun. Memory was worth having! But - make sure you have glasses (if you need them in low light) and many working flashlights. Being unable to see the numbers on the tiny locks was a MAJOR annoyance.
Amazing staff and even better rooms! Rooms were well put together with good quality props. Some components of the room were not working (eg. scannable props and small lights) which made it a bit confusing on one of the rooms. Other than
We tried room 057 and we loved it. We did it with 3 people even though they recommended 4 but it was still very fun. The puzzles were a bit hard but if you took time to get them you can get them. Would do again if I could wipe my memory
Fun group activity and excellent staff especially Claire. We played Room 057- very cleverly designed with tool interactions and tech as well. Would definitely come again for the rest of the rooms, and visit the other locations also.
My friends and I just did the chaos effect room. With a 25% success rate we were able to complete the room! This was very different from your traditional escape room! It definitely required a lot of thinking and team work. I would
We had fun doing the Chaos escape room, it's a bit different from the usual ones. I would recommend it to anyone who likes solving these rooms. There is parking in the plaza and free locker rooms to store your stuff.
I recently held my staff party at this location. I seldom bother to give reviews but I feel compelled to disagree about the negative ones. Staff were friendly and the manager Patrick was great. Excellent experience.
Just visited Trapped and wow it was so much fun! Came here with my husband for a date and it was super fun and challenging. Staff was very friendly and informative. Definitely coming back to try the other rooms.
Played room 057. Had a wonderful experience with friends. It was a VERY well developed game and I was pleasantly surprised that 2 rooms were filled with thoughtful puzzles. Good job to the creators of that room.
We have visited Trapped 2nd time now and again had an amazing experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the escape room itself was challenging and engaging.
Great service and fun escape room. We went with kids and the staff were very accommodating by turning down the soundtrack and giving us extra flashlights. We had a fantastic time!
Good service, good escape room. I booked one with 4 other people and we completed in a 45 minute time from the given 1hr. Very fun. Just kinda expensive (30$ per adult is insane)
Super fun staff and game at TRAPPED! We had such a great experience and our game master was really patient and kind throughout our whole game. Would recommend this escape room!
We did the chaos effect and was amazed by how every move matters. It was amazing how well-thought out this room was. Will be returning to try out the other rooms next time.
The experience was awesome. Staff were super helpful, friendly and accommodating. Definitely made my birthday one to remember! Will def return for another escape room :)
Location is great. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Customer service is important to this establishment (it is clear by the way they treat their customers)
The room was fun, a little complex. The staff was very friendly and helpful which made the experience memorable. Will be back again to try our next escape...
My first experience was great .. We went to “death note” room .. Nadine was very patient and polite. She made the experience even better .. Thank you!!
Excellent experience! We had so much fun! Staff is very friendly and they wanted us to have the best experience. I highly recommand.
Very friendly staff that explain the game rule well. We enjoyed the death note room. Would recommend and will visit again.
The Death note room was difficult but really fun, me and my friends had lots of fun for my birthday, Thank you Trapped
Medieval prison escape room: Too easy, clues were generally too obvious, direct and quick to figure out, and
First time trying an escape room. Our group of 5 completed Room 057, rated 4/5 for difficulty.
We enjoyed the Death Note room. It was a lot of fun. The staff are very kind and helpful.
