I recently had the pleasure of visiting Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa and experiencing the Cableway that takes visitors to the summit. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my visit and the overall experience of the Cableway. One of the first things that struck me was the level of service that was provided. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel at ease right from the start. The gondola ride itself was a thrill, with the gondola turning to give you a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. And what a view it was! The scenery from the summit of Table Mountain was simply breathtaking. I was able to see for miles around and take in the beauty of South Africa from a unique vantage point. It's easy to see why this is one of the top tourist attractions in the area. Despite the large number of tourists, I always felt safe and secure. I didn't see any incidents of pickpocketing or other types of crime, which is a testament to the security measures in place. In terms of pricing, I found it to be fair and reasonable, especially considering the amazing experience that you get. The line wasn't too long, but I would still recommend booking a pre-ticket to avoid any potential waiting times. Overall, I had a cool visit at Tafelberg Cableway and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting South Africa. The stunning views and incredible experience are not to be missed. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in the area.

The Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa is a must visit for anyone vesting Cape town. The Cableway that takes visitors to the summit. The cable way opened in 1929. The current cable way is much better and span a length of 1200 m and moves at a speed of 10m/sec. we travel to the top on the gondola which is rotating so that everyone gets to see all around till be reach the top. Each gondola takes 65 passengers. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The gondola ride itself was about 4 minutes with the gondola turning to give you a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. The cable way operates only if the weather is good and not very windy and so please watch out for the weather before you decide to go. The tickets can be purchased online so that you can skip the queue ticket. The Table Mountain sits on the south west corner of the African continent. The scenery from the summit of Table Mountain was stunning. As it was clear day we could see very far. the beauty of South Africa from top of the world. in the area Despite the large number of tourists In terms of pricing, I found it to be fair and reasonable Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape town.

Fairly long line to get to the top( 2 hours), but every part of the way is in the shade seeing as there have been umbrellas or other types of covers placed along the entire line, this was really nice. It prevented us from getting sunburnt and overheating. The cable car itself ran smoothly, except for when a gust of wind came and partly blew open one of the doors, there was a gap of about 10 seconds. This lasted very short seeing as the doors seemed to automatically latch closed again. The line to get back down was highly unpleasant, but this was not the fault of anyone except mother nature. The day we were there there happened to be severe wind, eventually also shutting down the cable car out of safety precautions. Due to the weather we were all exposed to severe wind gusts leaving us cold to the bone and shaking. It would have been great of there was some emergency screen-type things that they could put out when weather calls for it. The view was breathtaking and i definitely recommend anyone to come spend a few hours up there on the table mountain.

One heck of a view!! I feel like Table Mountain is what Cape Town is all about so everyone should give it a try even if they are afraid of heights. There are lots of safe places to stand and enjoy the views. The aerial cable car is in top notch condition and is manned at all times when taking people up and down the mountain. Finding parking anywhere remotely near to the entrance/ticket office is almost impossible (a lot of people come via bus or taxi as there are a lot of those parked along the sides of the drive up leading to the entrance). If you're brave you will hike/run/cycle up this part...There are bathrooms up at the top of the mountain, a restaurant (very pricey) and two shops to browse through. On the map given to you, it does indicate wheelchair routes and we did happen to see someone get in the cable car with a wheelchair so that is fantastic that this has been thought of. The viewing deck telescope is R5 if interested to see detail from up top.

Refer to the tag Table Mountain Seilbahn ⛰️ Sjoe, watter asem blik en uitsig van bo af. A awesome experience "This is a great spot to sit and soak up the commanding 360-degree views of Cape Town, Table Bay, the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains and the rest of the Table Mountain National Park..", according to a visitors info, YES, indeed. And only a few people on the top, ja, nee in times like this... (October 2020). What goes up must come down. It´s a great fun to use the cablecar up- and downstairs. And on the top only stunning fews and a rather great areal to erxplore. And don´t forget to taste the milk tart and a cup of coffee; dis net te lekka. In addition some short unworked/unedited video clips and some small maps to orientate. Again and again, I did it twice, after one year I came back in November 2021 together with my son. It`s still stunning and awesome to enjoy this experience.

Had a wonderfull day. The queue were very long due to it being a Saturday and the R90.00 birthday special for South Africans. The wait was worth it. Everything went smooth on the way up with the car operator guide giving useful information and tips as well as some history. Walkways clearly demarcated with lookouts allowing for breathtaking views of the oceans and Cape Town. Tip. Buy your tickets online. It allows you to get into the queue without having to queue for tickets first and go early! Post note:Our daughter sprained her ankle just before leaving. Staff on hand carried her to the First Aid room. She was expertly attended to by the onduty medic who arranged a wheelchair and access to the car going down without having to queue. Staff at the lower station took me to our car so that I could come and pick the family up. Thank you Green Team :)

Hi, ST4 just a quick thank you to you and your colleague, D 1 for your incredible team work today on signal hill, with the rescue of the unfortunate guy that fell off the edge of the mountain, you were both incredibly professional and helpful to everyone around. We really were concerned about our safety before the start of our walk up lions head until your presence and reassurance that you and your team were on patrol looking out for us, only then could we relax and enjoy our walk. My daughter and friends who live abroad will be back to enjoy our beautiful mountains in the near future thanks to your reassurance for our safety, thank you once again you guys are incredible we need more people like you around to keep us safe

An amazing experience with breathtaking views of cape town and the surrounding areas. One piece of advice, pre book your tickets and arrive early. We didn't have any issues with getting on the cable car but we went to have another trip without pre booking, the queue would have taken 2hours. Not good when there's no shade. The cable car floor moves round so everyone can breathe in the experience... At the top, there's a brilliant cafe plus tourist shops etc. The walks are amazing but make sure you have sturdy shoes on, no flip flops ladies. Table mountain has to be the most beautiful and memorable places I've ever seen, certainly worth the 14hr flight to Cape Town. I really did leave my heart there

  • Beatrix Bissett

The cableway provides access to the top of Table Mountain, for the finest view of the Mother City of Cape Town. The long wait at the bottom well worth the while! There’s no time like the present to take advantage of specials to experience this once in a lifetime thrill! its recommend that you call the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway on the day you’d like to ride to make sure the weather is playing along. On days with strong winds, all trips are cancelled. The view from the top are out of this world and a must see for all tourists and travelers! Have a bite to eat once at the top - have a hike - enjoy the view and fresh air - take it all in before to leave!

  • Wimpie Bouillon

Good day. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. When ever you are in Capetown this is a Must!! the staff is helpful and friendly, they always assist where ever they can. on the top of the mountain there is a gift shop as well as a shop where you can get something to eat or drink , although the are very expensive up there. i would advise on having breakfast before you go up and maybe by your tickets online, the line to buy ticket may get very long but if you bought online you skip the ticket line and stand only in the online ticket line (much shorter) to go up. Hope you have the time of your life

  • Emil Swanepoel

If you can go when there is no wind or cloud you will get a view of Cape Town that is spectacular. There are hikes and opportunities for shorter walks on top of the mountain as well. The shop is a pick and choose type of buffet and having a coffee at the top of Table Mountain has some great charm. You can post a post card from the top of Table Mountain. Just be prepared that the parking is quite thin and you may have to walk but there is a drop off area. Be warned that the bottom of the cable car does rotate but slowly and is a great way for everyone to get a view. Absolutely awesome.

There are simply no words that would do this ride/trip justice! The trip up and down was Breathtaking and everyone was very friendly and helpful. It being our birthday month (my son and I - May) we got our return rides for free and paid the Pensioner's price for my Mom. It was a beautiful sunny day and we took jackets up but didn't use it. There is a little restaurant/eating place on top of the mountain (quite pricey for us locals, but understandably so). Also, the guides are very helpful with wheelchair and stroller/pram users as well as older people.

  • Adrian Tearle

A brilliant way to ride to the top of the beautiful Table Mountain, which is almost otherworldly (and chilly!). The view is fantastic and taking it in must be the top of anyone's to-do list in Cape Town. Do take a jacket and be prepared for queues, even if you think you've been clever and already bought tickets online. The cableway was closed due to high winds on all but one day of the week that we were in the area, so go up as soon as you're able. The café at the top is good and surprisingly inexpensive too.

  • Barry Walters

Had a amazing experience on top of the mountain. Parking was not easy, I had to drop off the girls and park 500 meters away, tickets was really expensive, they can at least give discount for local South Africans. The rides were amazing, the platform rotates so you can see a 360 degree veiws on veiws. We ate at the restaurant and we had the Chef's special with beef and tomoto sauce with rice, 5 stars to the Chef. Going down we had to stand in line for almost 2 hours. Pleasant experience nonetheless.

  • Eric Baker

It's relatively expensive for foreigners, £15, and we had to wait around lots on the way up. But we had a lovely walk up top. The queue to get back down was very slow and it was dark by the time we got back to where we'd parked. Then there was a traffic jam snaking down the lower slopes so we were pretty late back to our Kalk Bay airbnb. Table mountain is a must do but it's a pity there isn't more capacity for parking, getting tickets and getting up and back down.

  • Nonhlanhla Mkwanazi

Absolutely amazing views. The sunset ticket was definitely worth it If you are visiting you should definitely set aside some time to walk across the whole mountain. The views change as you go further in your walk. By the time you reach the other side of the mountain the sun is setting creating the perfect scene for a beautiful evening picnic. If you are more adventurous, there are other trails you can follow on the mountain for a more rugged experience.

  • Nathan Roberts

The modern and safe cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain was an enjoyable experience. We were even able to bring a jogging stroller in the cable car which is capable of handling 65 people. There are two cable cars, so the wait wasn’t too bad. The view of God’s creation from the top of Table Mountain was simply amazing. If you visit Cape Town, be sure to visit this place. There’s a wheelchair accessible pathway on the top and a shop, café, and gift shop.

  • Eric van Dyk

An amazing experience for tourists and locals alike. Stunning views of Cape Town and the Atlantic Seaboard. A must for anyone visiting Cape Town. I would highly suggest using an Uber, as parking can be a nightmare unless you are there super early. Also check the weather forecast the previous evening, as sporadic cloud cover can prevent patrons from seeing any views. Otherwise an amazing experience, with top amenities, curio shops and restaurants available.

  • Brandon Lorenzo

An absolute must for all tourists as well as citizens. It's truly a beautiful view of the city, mountains, ocean and nature. The queues can be at times annoyingly and frustrating long but other times around a 15min wait. The staff in the lines/queue are okay/average. The staff who push you on the cable cart seem to always be a little overwhelmed but it's a busy tourist site. 4 stars because it's a great experience and the overall experience is super.

  • Zaheer Hoosen

A must if you’re in Cape Town. Give yourself an hour and a half to two hours on the top, depending how much of walking you do on top. We took the 5pm cable ride and watched sunset from the top. Definitely worth it! Please pack a warm jacket and some sunscreen too. I’d buy water before going up as well. Apparently tickets are cheaper if you purchase them online - not sure how true this is but worth a try. I’d recommend this anyday.

  • Vic Ramphal

An absolute must for any visitor to Cape Town. The waiting lines can sometimes be very long, however, if you've purchased tickets online and get there early, you can avoid the wait. The weather can also change quite quickly... no harm in carrying a jacket or sweater. On a positive note; the spectacular views are worth it and are most rewarding...

  • Nic

Enjoyable experience but an absolute rip off for local citizens. Why should we pay the same rate as tourists when we fund this project with our taxes. It is criminal how expensive this is for the average South African. So other than being a local ripoff it is a lovely experience. Go early if you don't want to wait and prepay for your tickets.

  • Bonnie van den Berg

Very organised and an awesome experience. The turning cable car gives everyone a 360 degree view in the 4 odd minute travel time. Seating for up to 4 people is available should it be required. The amenities are well kept and readily accessible. Do take a walk away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy more views. Table Mountain at its best.

  • RASHMI RAJENDRA

Undoubtedly the most beautiful tourist attractions of Capetown. You will enjoy the scenic beauty of the city in the rotating cable car. The gigantic moutain, breathtaking views, coast line and clouds will leave you rejuvenated! The sunset view too was beautiful where you will feel that the clouds are touching the ocean!

  • Nicolas Cope

I have nothing bad to say about the cable car experience. It was smooth sailing from buying tickets, queuing to ride up and back down the mountain and buying a few things at the top. It will get busy at times so patience is a virtue. But don't worry you'll get to the top eventually. Even if it's six thirty at night.

  • Patrick Spath

Great way to explore the views from table mountain onto Cape Town if you're with kids or don't have the capacity to do a strenuous hike. Mind you however that lines will be very very long both down and up the cable car, so being water for waiting, and/or an umbrella/hat to protect you from the sun.

  • Wendy van Ginkel

Spectacular! I had not been up the cableway in many years, Table Mountain does not disappoint! We went as a family and loved our experience. Although we did have to wait in a line, it did move consistently and in no time we were in our way. Didn’t miss this incredible landmark!

  • Noreen Wambugu

The view is to die for. The tickets queue was long. Take advantage of the city sightseeing bus if a tourist to save cost on visiting various places and save time as you’ll pay for the cable car at the bus office hence the only queue you’ll encounter is to go to the cable cars.

  • Audrey Anthony

Admittance to the cable way is well organised. I recommend you purchase your tickets online to prevent having to queue twice. Seniors can now purchase discounted tickets on line. The car revolves 360 degrees allowing one breath taking views of Cape Town and surrounds.

  • Joe Jr Gabaldón‎

Expect long lines during peak hours. You can buy tickets online, but that doesn’t get you to front of the line any faster. The cable car rotates while traveling up/down offering everyone a beautiful view. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cape Town.

  • Rehelda Williams

It seems like there is a great degree of complacency. The mountain itself of course is magnificent. However, there needs to be more detail on ticket purchasing procedures, assistance should be offered to spontaneous users of the service. The staff are so impatient

  • Andrea R.

Just one word: amazing! Just do it, if you are in Capetown. Don’t leave the city without visiting Table mountain. We were luck, it was cloudy in the morning. So there wasn’t a queue and we don’t need to wait to go up. It is very fast just a few minutes…

  • Joel Pagett

Quite simply put, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is a must-do for anyone visiting Cape Town. The views from the top are simply breathtaking, and you can see for miles in every direction. Even the cableway ride itself is an experience in

  • Craig de Vries

Absolutely ridiculous... We live in the most beautiful city in the world but have to pay tourist prices to enjoy our mountain... different pricing for students, pensioners and times of the day... shame on you money hungry thieves...

  • N. C

It is much easier to pay with card on kiosk next to visitor centre. I was there at 8 AM and the line was already formed. The first cable car departs at 8.30 AM. This is a must see ! The view up there is spectacular !

  • R J v Rensburg

Expensive for adults but pensioners and kids get great discount and on your birthday month go free. Awesome experience, safe and clean and efficient. What a spectacular view. The mist do activity in Cape Town

  • Richard Schagrin

Fortunately we had prepaid tickets. Went the first thing in the morning so the wait wasn't so bad. I understand you can wait up to 2 hours. Also, early morning is cooler and not as crowded.

  • Gustavo Lopes

Choose your day and time well and it will be an enjoyable trip up to amazing views. But do avoid the crowds! If you have a WildCard you get 20% off, but anyway its not a bad deal...

  • David Cacik

Must see in Cape town but tends to get crowded in clear weather. (1hr wait). We went at 5pm and there was no wait. Was enough to take a lot of pictures and chill on the mountain.

  • Suryakanta Acharya

The most iconic of Big 6 in cape town. You can see it from 5 other places listed in Big 6! The mountain is 300 million yrs old & included in the list of New7Wonders of nature.

  • Aarifah Mohamed

You will only truly understand why it has become one of the seven wonders of Nature when you get up there. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely worth every penny.

  • Martyn Tillett

Bit of queuing, not much help from staff who just walk off to chat with their mates and leave you not knowing what's happening. Spinny cable car is novel going up and down.

  • mpumelelo pinky

Best place to be in Cape town Free birthday return trip for South Africans Restaurant, clothing store and Bar up the mountain Hiking spot *****Great customer service*****

As a South African I have never taken the cable car before. Always hiked up and down Table Mountain. It was a breathtaking experience. We truly have a beautiful country.

Excellent afternoon activity! The floor of the cable car rotates so that no matter where you stand you will get a full 360 view of all the scenery around you.

Such an amazing master piece. Truly it's the hand of God. You will love this place. I have seen lots of places in Canada but this place is breathing taking.

  • Gareth Dallas

The original inhabitants of the Cape called this mountain Hoerikwaggo. Just one of the bits of info you can find on top of the mountain.

  • Chantelle Ashley

The views really are beautiful and wait times were minimal despite the peak season. Dress appropriately - it can get chilly up there.

  • Sue Bamber

Very well-managed. Friendly and helpful staff! It was quite a busy morning on the mountain, but everything flowed smoothly.

  • Shebyn Shibu

Loved the cable car ride to the top of the Table Mountain....you get to see the view of Cape Town on the way up …

  • Nthabiseng Kubu

Excellent but beware the clouds can suddenly cover you and then it can be quite chilly, so recommend a jumper or jacket

  • Arno Strydom

The view is great, but the prices for going up and down definitely too high (even for tourists)!
