We came from out of town to complete some paperwork with our two small boys during the day. Initially there were no problems but after about an hour the problems began. Slowly people who worked at the library began complaint of where I was sitting, how I was sitting, not to sit on the floor, ( I had back surgery ans the chairs were upright and uncomfortable)to put my flip flop on while sitting, not to sit on the seat, not to move the children's seating items(which are large plush blocks) coming in pairs to complain about the noise of the children, sliding through the bookshelves wearing masks and gloves, watching us as if we weren't welcome, sending different people each time although the children were not a problem and the reading and writing by grown ups was being done silently. Director Andrew Breidenbaugh, sir, you need to retrain your staff members to leave patrons be to their business, public or private or whatever sort. You have a staff of bored busy bodies bullying visitors with pretend policies in an empty library andrheir actions werw teeter tottering on harassment which after the second bizzare confrontation did not surprise me. If you want visitors to feel welcome, retrain your staff to see if they could have a better visit, not Peculiar unnecessary enforcement of invisible rules to make people and their children uncomfortable. Naturally we are omitting the skin tone of the visitors.
I'm a lifelong library user. I love libraries. I love librarians. I've visited a half dozen of the branches and always encountered nice and helpful staff. For about a year the Brandon branch was my home branch. While I always had excellent service and enjoyed the collections, today, was the deal killer for me. I got a notice, when checking out some materials that my account was on hold. When I went to the counter, the guy in the Seffner branch told me I had returned an item with a disc missing. Problem is, I checked out and returned that item more than a year ago. Digging deeper into the situation only garnered for me more bad answers, or no answers at all. I physically went to the Brandon branch to try to learn more and was basically assured that, I obviously made a mistake and it was no big deal. Which isn't true in any way. It's clear to me that something is weird in their system and I do not want to expose myself to potential losses or have my personal information compromised by a system that is so vulnerable.
Half the staff is cool the other half is arrogant. They will cut you off mid sentence and they often have attitudes no matter how polite you are to them. One lady had a nasty attitude and kept cutting me off so i calmly told her im just trying to have a conversation like an adult so theres no need to be rude then she calls the library cop and tries to have me kicked out for no reason. Her supervisor was on her side saying not to argue with employees but im like "she cut me off repeatedly and i never disrespected her not once so how am i arguing with her?" Then she just repeats herself so i volunteer to just leave and never come back. The cop was actually on my side and said im more than welcome to come back despite the fact that the staff member wanted me kicked out. She was even interupting me as i was talking to the cop. Its bad when the library cops are more resonable than the regular staff. I feel like she was baiting me so she could have an excuse to trespass me.
I love the library! The main library staff is always friendly and helpful, and it’s a really nice place especially with all the renovations going on. Life hack: the library has a room immediately to your left when you enter that has books for sale for 50cents up to $2. It is cash-only, honor system where you put the cash in a Dropbox as you leave. They have fiction novels, nonfiction, language, self help, cook books, old CDs and magazines (Vogue).
I have enjoyed every visit I have made here. Their music and video sections are huge, their back magazine collection is huge, and they also have a surprising number of resources available online. Many of the snags involved with ebooks seem to have been resolved. The children's area is very family oriented. Overall, an excellent experience!! Thank you!
They should explicitly say they’re closed except for curb side . I came into town, paid for parking and tried to walk in only to see a sign closed till further notice . I googled to check if they’re open before I drove downtown and parked and it says they’re open till 6pm...CURBSIDE ONLY! Would have been very helpful to see that when I googled it.
Super friendly staff, fantastic assortment of books, magazines, and other items. I was able to use one of their study rooms to catch up on some work and spend some time in great comfort. You gotta love libraries. If you're not from the states and are looking for a comfortable spot with wifi, look for your local library.
This is the main library for the Hillsborough Co system. If you need it, they have it. City records archives, old photos, local genealogy, the works. If you're a library person you can spend all day here.
Everyone we met from the staff was so nice and helpful. The bookstore is an awesome touch and the history/genealogy floor was so awesome. It’s so quiet in here you almost forgot you were downtown!
Such a wonderful resource for the citizens of Tampa. I love our local library! The parking garage is also right across from it so it's very accessible in the crazy downtown setup!
Great customer service, extremely safe and secure, adherence to covid safety. The white guy with long hair is extremely nice, considerate, and professional …
Love this library. You can actually borrow the scope(s), skeleton, coding robots, etc with a library card. Kid friendliest library ever!
Great spot to visit in Tampa! Nice spot to relax just off the Riverwalk. Lots of fun stuff for kiddos. Free fast wifi!
Agradecido que le han ayudado por sus recursos yo estar en el camino de recuperar mis documents, excellent attention .
The staff goes out if it's way to be helpful. The HIVE STAFF is very knowledgeable. Especially Jeff.
Woman at the front counter this morning was not pleasant. A bit rude. Other than that no complaints
Nice modern library! Has handicap accessible entrances, parking, bathrooms and elevators as well.
